8 EXT. STREET - NIGHT
BUFFY
I'm sorry Xander, I can't keep choosing for Dawn forever, this time I have to help myself first.
CUT TO:
12 INT. MANSION LIVING ROOM - NIGHT
DAWN
Everything you believed in as a child, every shadow down the hall, every squeaky noise under the bed, everything you were of as a child, everything you were told was just a figment of your imagination. All those things are real, they exist right under our very nose.
CAMERA ON: LUX's uncertain face.
CUT TO:
23 INT. TEMPLE CAVE - NIGHT
CAMERA ON: BUFFY, KENNEDY and WILLOW, surrounded by the MUMMIES, they are ready to strike.
The MUMMIES slowly start to close in, very slowly. Then we hear a sound, of a boulder being moved, the MUMMIES look up to something behind the Scoobies.
CUT TO:
There's a hole in the wall behind them. A woman is hanging out of the hole and sticks out her hand at BUFFY. BUFFY looks up at her.
WOMAN
Grab my hand.
CUT TO:
24 INT. TEMPLE TUNNEL - NIGHT
BUFFY, KENNEDY, WILLOW and the other WOMAN reach a bigger cave, there's an older woman in the room (MARGARETH), she turns to them.
MARGARETH
Finally, you have arrived. Now we can get out of this stinking hole.
BUFFY
Before we do... an explanation would be nice.
MARGARETH
I, Margareth , like you now, did enter this temple, four years ago with a group of three others, searching for the Scythe. We got it, but unfortunately, only one of us got away. I assume you've met her, since you did have the Scythe in your possession until recently, is it not true?
BUFFY
Yes, I did. But who have I met?
MARGARETH
The woman, who gave you the weapon. Long white hair, very old, presumably she was hidden in a temple with markings just like this one.
BUFFY
Yeah, the guardian, right?
MARGARETH
Correct. She is a guardian, and so am I and so is Ingrid.
She points at the other woman.
CUT TO:
KENNEDY
Hey break up here, what are guardians supposed to be?
INGRID
Dead slayers.
KENNEDY gives WILLOW a confused look. But she hunches.
MARGARETH
More or less, that is. We were once slayers that in death have come to terms with our fate, we have accepted what we are, and even past death, when we have lost our powers, we come back to assists slayers in their quests.
TEASER
1 INT. KITCHEN - NIGHT
CAMERA ON: XANDER, moving around the kitchen, putting little things away and trying to bring some semblance of order to the disaster of a room. He turns to see the sink spilling over with dishes.
XANDER
Dawnie! Buffy! Get in here.
2 INT. LIVING ROOM - NIGHT
CAMERA ON: The television. The news is playing, and it's a story about an earthquake in the middle of the desert. PAN TO: DAWN and BUFFY, on the sofa watching. BUFFY changes the channel as XANDER yells. DAWN passes BUFFY a bowl of popcorn and looks in the direction of the kitchen.
DAWN
What does he want?
BUFFY
I think he wants us to clean up.
She shrugs and turns back to the television.
BUFFY
We can do it later.
DAWN
Okey dokey. Hey! Don't be a popcorn-hog.
DAWN reaches over and grabs at the bowl. BUFFY yells in protest.
BUFFY
Xander! Make Dawn give it back!
XANDER enters and scowls.
XANDER
I'm not getting in the middle of this one. You two work it out. And Hey! Have you *seen* the kitchen?
BUFFY
Lately?
XANDER
Just...get in there eventually, ok? I'm tired of cleaning up after you guys.
BUFFY
Someone's cranky. Come here.
She moves over, making a spot on the couch for XANDER. He sits down.
BUFFY
Now watch some bad TV. Pretty people with problems always make me feel better.
DAWN passes him the popcorn.
BUFFY
How come you gave him some?
DAWN and XANDER both grin at her.
BUFFY
Way to gang up on me!
She tosses the remote, meant to hit XANDER. He catches it and changes the channel.
BUFFY
Damn.
3 EXT. GRAVEYARD - NIGHT
CUT TO: KENNEDY being thrown into the side of a crypt. She bounces back up and pulls her crossbow up and aims, firing a bolt into the chest of a VAMPIRE. It dusts. She turns to fire another bolt, but the crossbow's empty. She drops it to the ground.
KENNEDY
Damn!
WILLOW
Here!
ANGLE ON: WILLOW, throwing a stake to KENNEDY. She catches it and turns to fight. WILLOW is knocked down from behind while her focus is on KENNEDY. WILLOW and the VAMPIRE are out of view.
WILLOW (O.S.)
Owie.
Sounds of a scuffle are heard. ANGLE ON: a cloud of dust flies into the frame. CUT TO: KENNEDY, who stakes her last vampire.
WILLOW (OS)
That wasn't that hard.
KENNEDY
Well, no not when I do most of the fighting.
ANGLE ON: KENNEDY, who leans down and pulls WILLOW off the ground and into view. WILLOW brushes dust off her clothes.
WILLOW
Well, it *is* your job, after all. It's my job to give moral support. And I got 2 of them.
KENNEDY puts her arm around WILLOW and they start walking out of the cemetery.
KENNEDY
Whatever you say, sweetie. (Under her breath) I got 7.
WILLOW
I heard that.
Their talk fades and the CAMERA TURNS TO the bushes behind KENNEDY and WILLOW.
The camera ZOOMS IN to a pair of blue eyes looking out the bushes at KENNEDY. CLOSE UP on them for a few seconds.

4 INT. HEMMINGWAY'S CLASSROOM - DAY
FADE IN: On Professor Hemmingway's classroom. There's about 20 students, all taking notes. We can't hear what he's saying until he looks up at a clock. ANGLE ON: HEMMINGWAY.
HEMMINGWAY
All right class, your torture session is over. I want a 500-word essay on Freudian Slips for Friday.
ZOOM IN ON: The class, and then on BUFFY. She packs up her bag and is heading for the door when HEMMINGWAY stops her and 2 of her classmates.
HEMMINGWAY
Miss Summers, Miss Moniz and Mr. Kohler. Can you three stay a minute?
They move to face HEMMINGWAY.
BUFFY
What's up?
HEMMINGWAY
You're not in trouble, if that's what you're worried about.
ALL THREE visibly relax.
HEMMINGWAY
I've selected you three to take part in the internship program at the pysch ward of Edmonsville General. Every year, the students I pick for the program work for a few weeks without pay, and if they do well enough, they're offered jobs in the ward. I usually choose by highest grades, which, in order, are Miss Moniz and Mr. Kohler. But Miss Summers, you have displayed remarkable skills, even if you're grades aren't quite up to par. So, you three. Are you interested?

MICHAEL KOHLER
Cool.
BUFFY
When can we start?
HEMMINGWAY
Glad you asked, Buffy. I have the schedule here. You will each have shifts during the night and day, to really get the feel of the place. Sonya, you'll be there tomorrow afternoon. Michael, tomorrow night. And Buffy... Ha, what a coincidence, you get to start tonight, working the graveyard shift. Is that ok with you?
BUFFY
Me and the graveyard shift are close, personal friends.
5 INT. OUTSIDE CLASSROOM (HALLWAY) - DAY (cont'd)
BUFFY walks out of the class, looking very happy. She literally runs into WILLOW, who's standing with KENNEDY.
BUFFY
Whoa, sorry Will. Didn't see you there.
WILLOW
Because we were hiding... in plain sight, waving and calling your name.
BUFFY
Like I said, sorry. But hey, guess what.
KENNEDY
You won the lottery and are gonna give me a million dollars?
BUFFY
Not even close. But it is good news.
They start walking down the hallway while they talk
BUFFY
I got an internship in the psych ward at the hospital. And if I do well, I get a job.
WILLOW
Buffy, that's great!
BUFFY
I know! I might actually have a real job. One that doesn't involve flipping burgers or killing stuff dead.
KENNEDY
When do you start?
BUFFY
Tonight, Graveyard shift.
WILLOW
But not with actual graveyards, right?
BUFFY
Nope, I'm cemetery free.
WILLOW
That's good. Good for you. Hey, you guys wanna go get something to eat?
BUFFY
As long as it involves a sugar rush, I'm in.
KENNEDY
I think we can accommodate that. There's this place down on Seventh
that I've been meaning to check out.
6 INT. EDMONSVILLE HIGH CAFETERIA - DAY
PAN IN ON: A table full of cheerleaders, jocks, and other mentally (but not socially) challenged teenagers. They banter on about things we really couldn't care less about. CAMERA TURNS TO: DAWN and LUX at a table across from the popular crowd, staring in disbelief.
DAWN
Thank god you found me first.
LUX (sarcastically)
What, hanging with the cheerleaders not appealing?
DAWN
Oddly, no.
They laugh, and the camera ZOOMS IN on the two of them.
LUX
What are your plans this weekend?
DAWN
Oh, no. I remember this question. This doesn't have anything to do with a haunted house, right?
LUX
No, no, no. Definitely not. This has to do with us hanging out, possibly at the mall.
DAWN
Sounds fun. I'll run it past Buffy, make sure its ok.
LUX
Good! You can help me pick out a present for my mom's birthday.
DAWN's face falls instantly. LUX covers her mouth with her hand.
LUX
Dawn. I'm so sorry. That was really stupid of me.
DAWN
No, it's ok. I just forgot, I still have to get Buffy something for her birthday, it's next week.
LUX
So, you're in then?
DAWN
Definitely.
7 INT. JOLT COFFEE SHOP - DAY
PAN DOWN TO BUFFY, WILLOW, and KENNEDY.
KENNEDY
So, have you got like anything planned out?
BUFFY
Not exactly, I mean you're all invited. And Xander and Dawn too, obviously. And I think I'll ask Sarah.
WILLOW
Who?
BUFFY
This girl from my class. Sweet girl; not that bright.
WILLOW looks at her coffee cup and turns it upside down, making an exaggerated sad-face.
WILLOW
I'm empty and definitely needing a refill. You were right about this place Ken, it's amazing.
KENNEDY
Did I tell you or what?
WILLOW smiles and stands.
WILLOW
Anyone else?
BUFFY and KENNEDY both shake their heads.
WILLOW
Ok, suit yourselves.
WILLOW walks away. As the camera follows her to the counter, we see another girl at the table next to them, reading a book. Every couple seconds she looks over to KENNEDY and BUFFY, paying particular attention to the former. PAN BACK TO BUFFY, KENNEDY. (They haven't noticed the girl watching them.)
KENNEDY
'Yourselves?' Is that a word?
BUFFY
I'm thinking no.
KENNEDY
Is it smart to let her have that much coffee?
BUFFY
Again with the no. You know when its almost Christmas time, and all the little kids get really over-excited? Like, don't stop moving for 3 days straight?
KENNEDY
She gets like *that*??
BUFFY
Off course not... only ten times worse.
KENNEDY bangs her head on the table, and BUFFY laughs.
ZOOM IN on the other girl. Keep zooming until all's we see are her eyes-the exact same ones from the third scene.
ACT II
8 INT. SILVERDUST - NIGHT
CAMERA ON: The inside of the club. Obnoxiously loud music's playing, and we can't hear anyone speak. The CAMERA PANS DOWN TO: XANDER, WILLOW, and KENNEDY sitting at a table. They're laughing about
something, but we still can't hear what. Finally, the song ends, and their conversation can be heard.
KENNEDY (while laughing)
He actually put it on his head?
XANDER
Hey, we tried to talk him out of it, but when a man wants to wear a lobster-hat, its not my place to stop him.
WILLOW
And we thought good ol' Sunnydale residents were weird.
They all laugh, and the music starts back up again. (Only less-loud this time)
XANDER
It sucks that the Buffster couldn't make it.
WILLOW
Yeah, but she needed to get some sleep. You heard the good news 'bout her job, right?
XANDER
Yep. This is good for her. Maybe a stable job will help her ease back into normal life.
9 INT. BUFFY'S ROOM - NIGHT
ANGLE ON: BUFFY, asleep.
KENNEDY (V.O.)
It's hard to escape destiny, but she's sure trying.
BUFFY tosses and turns as we continue to ZOOM IN on her. There's a flash of light, and we've entered her dream.
10 INT. BUFFY'S ROOM - DAY (cont'd)
BUFFY wakes up in her room, but not the right one. ZOOM OUT: we can see that it's actually her old room in Sunnydale. She gets up and walks to the door. She opens it and walks into the living room.
11 INT. LIVING ROOM - DAY (cont'd)
ANGLE ON: WILLOW, sitting on the couch, talking to a monkey.
BUFFY
Will? What'cha doing?
WILLOW
He's supposed to know by now. Repeat after me: M. l'Hippopotame, je vraiment ai besoin de mes pantalon de retour.
BUFFY looks at WILLOW, who's still conversing with the monkey. She wanders into the hallway and out the front door.
12 EXT. STREET (OUTSIDE HOUSE) - DAY (cont'd)
BUFFY stands in the middle of a street in Sunnydale (before it went ka-blewy).
ZOOM OUT so we can see more than just BUFFY. Girls are fighting various demons on the sidewalks and in front of the houses that line the street.
BUFFY starts walking, and the camera follows her from behind. When Buffy passes the girls, they slay their demons and the girl smiles at BUFFY. This happens 3 times, and BUFFY finally stops next to one of them.
Same as before, the girl wins and smiles at BUFFY, man walks up to her and offers her cheese from a plate.
Buffy walks on, but then in front of her, at the end of the street. A shadow passes through the sky, when it passes the girls, they fall down and incinerate on the spot. PAN OUT: the girls are
catching fire up and down the seemingly endless street.
CAMERA ON: BUFFY, she shakes her head in disbelief, and she sees someone out of the corner of her eye who's not on fire. BUFFY runs to her, and spins the girl around to face her. It's KENNEDY.
BUFFY
What's happening?
KENNEDY
They're not strong enough.
BUFFY
But they're slayers.
KENNEDY
It's not the power that matters, its how you handle it.
KENNEDY gestures to the other SLAYERS.
KENNEDY
Do you really think they can deal? Without Watchers, without training. They're all destined. To die.
BUFFY
That's the natural order.
KENNEDY
You think this is natural? Funny. You've tried to escape your calling from the start. But now you've pushed it on all these girls. Did they want it any more than you did?
BUFFY slowly backs away from KENNEDY.
BUFFY
I did the right thing.
KENNEDY
The right thing for who?
We hear a banging noise in the distance, and suddenly the location changes.
13 INT. BUFFY'S ROOM - NIGHT
CAMERA ON: BUFFY sitting up with a start.
DAWN (O.S.)
Buffy?
DAWN opens the door and steps inside.
DAWN
You wanted me to get you up at 9, so you weren't late to your job.
BUFFY
Oh, thanks Dawnie. I'll be down in a minute.
DAWN
Ok.
DAWN EXITS and closes the door behind her. BUFFY sighs and starts to get ready to leave.
ACT III
14 EXT. STREET-NIGHT
KENNEDY walks along a deserted street. She twirls her stake idly and hums. It's deathly quiet, and its pretty obvious she's bored to tears.
KENNEDY
Come on already. I'm fed up with wandering around here. Gimme something to kill.
As if on cue, a girl starts screaming. KENNEDY briefly looks skyward.
KENNEDY
Thanks.
She rushes in the direction of the scream, and finds herself in the cemetery. KENNEDY looks around, trying to determine where it came from, when someone steps out of the shadows.
GIRL
Slayers. Always so predictable. But then, I guess I shouldn't be talking.
15 INT. KITCHEN - NIGHT
The phone's ringing in the kitchen at Buffy's house. DAWN's standing there, and she picks it up.
DAWN
Hello?
16 INT. AIRPLANE - NIGHT
CUT TO: A man, in an airplane. There's a few others on board with him, and it looks like a private plane. He's stuffy and wearing tweed, so it's safe to assume he's a Watcher.
MAN
Yes, hello. Is Buffy Summers there, please?
17 INT. KITCHEN - NIGHT
DAWN (into the phone)
Um, sure, just a second.
DAWN (yelling)
BUFFY! PHONE FOR-
BUFFY comes around the corner, and DAWN lowers her voice.
DAWN
-you.
BUFFY
Thanks.
She takes the phone out of DAWN's grasp and speaks into it.
BUFFY
Hello?
18 INT. AIRPLANE - NIGHT
MAN
Hello, Miss Summers. Let me make this brief. I'm from the Watcher's Council in London-
19 INT. KITCHEN - NIGHT
BUFFY checks her watch and sighs.
BUFFY
You guys never make this brief, and I have somewhere to be. So get to the reason you're calling me.
MAN (over the phone)
Yes. Quite right. My name is Tanner Coles, and-
BUFFY (impatiently)
What's the trouble?
20 INT. AIRPLANE-NIGHT
TANNER
It seems a rouge Slayer might be after one of the other slayers. I believe she might be a friend of yours?
A hand from next to him hands over a paper.
TANNER
A Kennedy Suarez?
21 INT. KITCHEN - NIGHT
BUFFY sits down at the kitchen table.
BUFFY
She's my friend, yeah. Rouge Slayer, like Faith?
TANNER (over the phone)
Faith?
He shuffles some papers on his lap.
TANNER
Ah, yes. No, not Faith literally, but that's the general idea. Someone has hired her as an assassin. We're not clear on-
The phone cuts out, but it fixes after a few seconds.
TANNER
-figured out soon.
BUFFY
What? I missed some of that. Your phone died or something.
TANNER (over phone)
Sorry, we hit a spot of turbulence.
BUFFY
Turbulence?... As in airplane turbulence?
22 INT. AIRPLANE - NIGHT
TANNER
I was getting to that part. Now, as I was saying this Slayer was hired to kill Miss Suarez. As far as we know, she could already be in Edmonsville.
BUFFY (over phone)
What???
TANNER
That's where you live now, isn't it?
BUFFY (still over the phone)
Well, yes, but... (sighs) What's Rouge girl like?
TANNER
Her name is. (checks papers) Stephanie Allbaugh, age 18, 5 foot 5 inches, light brown hair, blue eyes.
23 INT. KITCHEN - NIGHT
BUFFY
I'll put out the Scooby APB. (She looks at the clock again) Oh crap, I'm gonna be late for my job. Tell Dawn what you told me.
She hands the phone to DAWN and rushes out of the house
BUFFY (over her shoulder)
Dawn, write down what he says and then call Willow!
24 EXT. GRAVEYARD - NIGHT
CUT TO: KENNEDY and STEPHANIE in the graveyard.
KENNEDY
Who are you?
STEPHANIE
You don't really need to know that.
She starts circling around KENNEDY.
STEPHANIE
Bet you didn't know there was a nice price on your head. Some powerful people would very much like to see you dead.
KENNEDY
I'll pass. I like to see me living.
STEPHANIE
That's too bad. You didn't get a choice.
She lunges at KENNEDY, pulling a wicked-looking knife out from behind her back. KENNEDY dodges her, but the knife grazes her arm. She inhales sharply, holding her arm, and spins to face STEPHANIE.
KENNEDY
You. You're a Slayer too, aren't you?
STEPHANIE
Very good, took you long enough. No one ever said Slayers had to be smart, I guess.
STEPHANIE kicks KENNEDY in the stomach, and sends KENNEDY flying. She bounces off a tree and falls to the ground. She stands back up to face the girl again.
KENNEDY
Riddle me this-
She dodges a blow from the other slayer.
KENNEDY
You got all this power. Supposed to be used for good.
Another dodge.
KENNEDY
And yet, you go out and make it a point to kill Slayers, the only
people in the world like you. What's the deal?
STEPHANIE laughs and shakes her head. KENNEDY takes the opportunity to land a blow of her own, in the centre of STEPHANIE's face. Without pausing, KENNEDY drops down and sweeps STEPHANIE's legs out from under her. KENNEDY moves to stand over STEPHANIE, with her foot positioned over her throat.
KENNEDY
Who do you work for?
STEPHANIE reaches up and grabs KENNEDY's ankle. She twists it hard, and KENNEDY falls to the side.
STEPHANIE
Like I said, none of your business.
KENNEDY rolls over onto her back and looks up.
KENNEDY (to the sky)
That thank you? I take it back.
She springs back up and they continue fighting.
25 INT. WILLOW & KENNEDY'S DORM ROOM - NIGHT
CUT TO: WILLOW, on the phone (with DAWN). WILLOW is writing down
everything DAWN's saying to her, and repeating it back to make sure she's right.
WILLOW
Ok, I think I got it.
DAWN (on phone)
How are we gonna get her incapacitated? Slayers, usually strong-ish.
WILLOW
That's easy. How'd we get rid of Faith?
She thinks for a second.
WILLOW
This might be harder than I thought.
ACT IV
26 INT. WILLOW's CAR - NIGHT
FADE IN ON: WILLOW, in the car. She's dialling her cell phone, and
puts it to her ear. We can hear it ringing on the other end, but no one's picking up.
27 EXT. GRAVEYARD - NIGHT
CUT TO: CLOSE UP of KENNEDY's cell phone. It's lying on the ground, but KENNEDY is nowhere to be seen. Sounds of the fight can be heard in the distance.
28 INT. WILLOW's CAR - NIGHT
CUT BACK TO WILLOW. She snaps the phone shut and throws it on the
seat next to her. She pulls hard on the wheel, and she screeches into the parking lot of the cemetery. She gets out of the car and slams the door shut.
WILLOW (to herself)
Now lets hope you haven't changed your patrolling schedule.
29 EXT. GRAVEYARD - NIGHT
CUT TO: The other side of the graveyard (opposite where WILLOW
entered). A large black van pulls into another parking lot and 4 men get out. They start running into the graveyard.
30 EXT. GRAVEYARD - NIGHT
PAN TO KENNEDY and STEPHANIE. KENNEDY's laying on the ground, and
STEPHANIE's about to kill her. WILLOW and the 4 men reach them at the same time.
WILLOW
Scindo seorsum!
KENNEDY and STEPHANIE fly apart. TANNER walks up to
WILLOW while two other walk up to STEPHANIE with handcuffs.
TANNER
Thank you for your assistance.
WILLOW (distracted)
No problem.
CUT TO: KENNEDY. She moans and stands up. WILLOW rushes over to her, and KENNEDY leans heavily on her.
WILLOW
Baby, are you ok?
KENNEDY
Super-slaying healing should kick in anytime.
She smiles.
One of the other watchers lands next to her. CAMERA TURNS TO STEPHANIE, who throws the other watcher away. WILLOW aims at her.
WILLOW
Scindo-
KENNEDY pushes her arms away.
WILLOW
seorsum.
A blue bulp flies to the sky.
WILLOW
What was that for.
KENNEDY
My fight.
KENNEDY gets up again. She walks up to STEPHANIE. The two of them circle around each other. The WATCHERS and WILLOW back up.
KENNEDY
You didn't think it'd be that easy to get beaten, now did you?
STEPHANIE smirks
Should've known it wasn't.
She swings her knife at KENNEDY, but KENNEDY steps back. She swings once more and KENNEDY avoids it. And once more, but this time KENNEDY steps to the side, grabs STEPHANIE'S wrist and kicks her in the side. STEPHANIE drops to her knees and lets go of the knife. KENNEDY takes it from her and throws it away.
KENNEDY
Now lets see whether you can do a fair fight, huh?
STEPHANIE gets up and lungs at KENNEDY, who easily avoids. KENNEDY then hits her full in the face, another kick in the stomach and then tackles her. STEPHANIE gets up again and throws a blow, but misses. STEPHANIE throws in another blow, but KENNEDY ducks. Then KENNEDY storms at STEPHANIE, ducked, she grabs her legs and throws them up. This way she throws STEPHANIE up, who lands flat on her back. KENNEDY turns around, and looks at STEPHANIE, who's still down.
KENNEDY
Enough?
STEPHANIE (mumbling)
Never.
STEPHANIE gets up again and storms at KENNEDY, but she steps away and STEPHANIE falls down. She gets up again and storms at KENNEDY, who again steps away and STEPHANIE falls down again, screaming in pain. Once more she gets up. She limps at KENNEDY and starts hitting her, slapping her girl-style. KENNEDY blocks her every move. Finally STEPHANIE drops down to her knees, crying. The WATCHERS walk over and put STEPHANIE in the handcuffs, while KENNEDY walks off to WILLOW.
TANNER
By order of the Watcher's Council of London...
PAN TO: WILLOW supporting KENNEDY back to the car.
31 INT. SUMMER's HOME - NIGHT
FADE IN TO: BUFFY, walking in the door. She shuts it behind her and throws her bag into the corner of the hall.
BUFFY
Dawn?
DAWN walks into view.
DAWN

I'm sorry Xander, I can't keep choosing for Dawn forever, this time I have to help myself first.

12 INT. MANSION LIVING ROOM - NIGHT
DAWN
Everything you believed in as a child, every shadow down the hall, every squeaky noise under the bed, everything you were of as a child, everything you were told was just a figment of your imagination. All those things are real, they exist right under our very nose.
CAMERA ON: LUX's uncertain face.
CUT TO:
23 INT. TEMPLE CAVE - NIGHT
CAMERA ON: BUFFY, KENNEDY and WILLOW, surrounded by the MUMMIES, they are ready to strike.
The MUMMIES slowly start to close in, very slowly. Then we hear a sound, of a boulder being moved, the MUMMIES look up to something behind the Scoobies.
CUT TO:
There's a hole in the wall behind them. A woman is hanging out of the hole and sticks out her hand at BUFFY. BUFFY looks up at her.
WOMAN
Grab my hand.
CUT TO:
24 INT. TEMPLE TUNNEL - NIGHT
BUFFY, KENNEDY, WILLOW and the other WOMAN reach a bigger cave, there's an older woman in the room (MARGARETH), she turns to them.
MARGARETH
Finally, you have arrived. Now we can get out of this stinking hole.
BUFFY
Before we do... an explanation would be nice.
MARGARETH
I, Margareth , like you now, did enter this temple, four years ago with a group of three others, searching for the Scythe. We got it, but unfortunately, only one of us got away. I assume you've met her, since you did have the Scythe in your possession until recently, is it not true?
BUFFY
Yes, I did. But who have I met?
MARGARETH
The woman, who gave you the weapon. Long white hair, very old, presumably she was hidden in a temple with markings just like this one.
BUFFY
Yeah, the guardian, right?
MARGARETH
Correct. She is a guardian, and so am I and so is Ingrid.
She points at the other woman.
CUT TO:
KENNEDY
Hey break up here, what are guardians supposed to be?
INGRID
Dead slayers.
KENNEDY gives WILLOW a confused look. But she hunches.
MARGARETH
More or less, that is. We were once slayers that in death have come to terms with our fate, we have accepted what we are, and even past death, when we have lost our powers, we come back to assists slayers in their quests.
TEASER
1 INT. KITCHEN - NIGHT
CAMERA ON: XANDER, moving around the kitchen, putting little things away and trying to bring some semblance of order to the disaster of a room. He turns to see the sink spilling over with dishes.
XANDER
Dawnie! Buffy! Get in here.
2 INT. LIVING ROOM - NIGHT
CAMERA ON: The television. The news is playing, and it's a story about an earthquake in the middle of the desert. PAN TO: DAWN and BUFFY, on the sofa watching. BUFFY changes the channel as XANDER yells. DAWN passes BUFFY a bowl of popcorn and looks in the direction of the kitchen.
DAWN
What does he want?
BUFFY
I think he wants us to clean up.
She shrugs and turns back to the television.
BUFFY
We can do it later.
DAWN
Okey dokey. Hey! Don't be a popcorn-hog.
DAWN reaches over and grabs at the bowl. BUFFY yells in protest.
BUFFY
Xander! Make Dawn give it back!
XANDER enters and scowls.
XANDER
I'm not getting in the middle of this one. You two work it out. And Hey! Have you *seen* the kitchen?
BUFFY
Lately?
XANDER
Just...get in there eventually, ok? I'm tired of cleaning up after you guys.
BUFFY
Someone's cranky. Come here.
She moves over, making a spot on the couch for XANDER. He sits down.
BUFFY
Now watch some bad TV. Pretty people with problems always make me feel better.
DAWN passes him the popcorn.
BUFFY
How come you gave him some?
DAWN and XANDER both grin at her.
BUFFY
Way to gang up on me!
She tosses the remote, meant to hit XANDER. He catches it and changes the channel.
BUFFY
Damn.
3 EXT. GRAVEYARD - NIGHT
CUT TO: KENNEDY being thrown into the side of a crypt. She bounces back up and pulls her crossbow up and aims, firing a bolt into the chest of a VAMPIRE. It dusts. She turns to fire another bolt, but the crossbow's empty. She drops it to the ground.
KENNEDY
Damn!
WILLOW
Here!
ANGLE ON: WILLOW, throwing a stake to KENNEDY. She catches it and turns to fight. WILLOW is knocked down from behind while her focus is on KENNEDY. WILLOW and the VAMPIRE are out of view.
WILLOW (O.S.)
Owie.
Sounds of a scuffle are heard. ANGLE ON: a cloud of dust flies into the frame. CUT TO: KENNEDY, who stakes her last vampire.
WILLOW (OS)
That wasn't that hard.
KENNEDY
Well, no not when I do most of the fighting.
ANGLE ON: KENNEDY, who leans down and pulls WILLOW off the ground and into view. WILLOW brushes dust off her clothes.
WILLOW
Well, it *is* your job, after all. It's my job to give moral support. And I got 2 of them.
KENNEDY puts her arm around WILLOW and they start walking out of the cemetery.
KENNEDY
Whatever you say, sweetie. (Under her breath) I got 7.
WILLOW
I heard that.
Their talk fades and the CAMERA TURNS TO the bushes behind KENNEDY and WILLOW.
The camera ZOOMS IN to a pair of blue eyes looking out the bushes at KENNEDY. CLOSE UP on them for a few seconds.

4 INT. HEMMINGWAY'S CLASSROOM - DAY
FADE IN: On Professor Hemmingway's classroom. There's about 20 students, all taking notes. We can't hear what he's saying until he looks up at a clock. ANGLE ON: HEMMINGWAY.
HEMMINGWAY
All right class, your torture session is over. I want a 500-word essay on Freudian Slips for Friday.
ZOOM IN ON: The class, and then on BUFFY. She packs up her bag and is heading for the door when HEMMINGWAY stops her and 2 of her classmates.
HEMMINGWAY
Miss Summers, Miss Moniz and Mr. Kohler. Can you three stay a minute?
They move to face HEMMINGWAY.
BUFFY
What's up?
HEMMINGWAY
You're not in trouble, if that's what you're worried about.
ALL THREE visibly relax.
HEMMINGWAY
I've selected you three to take part in the internship program at the pysch ward of Edmonsville General. Every year, the students I pick for the program work for a few weeks without pay, and if they do well enough, they're offered jobs in the ward. I usually choose by highest grades, which, in order, are Miss Moniz and Mr. Kohler. But Miss Summers, you have displayed remarkable skills, even if you're grades aren't quite up to par. So, you three. Are you interested?

BUFFY
When can we start?
HEMMINGWAY
Glad you asked, Buffy. I have the schedule here. You will each have shifts during the night and day, to really get the feel of the place. Sonya, you'll be there tomorrow afternoon. Michael, tomorrow night. And Buffy... Ha, what a coincidence, you get to start tonight, working the graveyard shift. Is that ok with you?
BUFFY
Me and the graveyard shift are close, personal friends.
5 INT. OUTSIDE CLASSROOM (HALLWAY) - DAY (cont'd)
BUFFY walks out of the class, looking very happy. She literally runs into WILLOW, who's standing with KENNEDY.
BUFFY
Whoa, sorry Will. Didn't see you there.
WILLOW
Because we were hiding... in plain sight, waving and calling your name.
BUFFY
Like I said, sorry. But hey, guess what.
KENNEDY
You won the lottery and are gonna give me a million dollars?
BUFFY
Not even close. But it is good news.
They start walking down the hallway while they talk
BUFFY
I got an internship in the psych ward at the hospital. And if I do well, I get a job.
WILLOW
Buffy, that's great!
BUFFY
I know! I might actually have a real job. One that doesn't involve flipping burgers or killing stuff dead.
KENNEDY
When do you start?
BUFFY
Tonight, Graveyard shift.
WILLOW
But not with actual graveyards, right?
BUFFY
Nope, I'm cemetery free.
WILLOW
That's good. Good for you. Hey, you guys wanna go get something to eat?
BUFFY
As long as it involves a sugar rush, I'm in.
KENNEDY
I think we can accommodate that. There's this place down on Seventh
that I've been meaning to check out.
6 INT. EDMONSVILLE HIGH CAFETERIA - DAY
PAN IN ON: A table full of cheerleaders, jocks, and other mentally (but not socially) challenged teenagers. They banter on about things we really couldn't care less about. CAMERA TURNS TO: DAWN and LUX at a table across from the popular crowd, staring in disbelief.
DAWN
Thank god you found me first.
LUX (sarcastically)
What, hanging with the cheerleaders not appealing?
DAWN
Oddly, no.
They laugh, and the camera ZOOMS IN on the two of them.
LUX
What are your plans this weekend?
DAWN
Oh, no. I remember this question. This doesn't have anything to do with a haunted house, right?
LUX
No, no, no. Definitely not. This has to do with us hanging out, possibly at the mall.
DAWN
Sounds fun. I'll run it past Buffy, make sure its ok.
LUX
Good! You can help me pick out a present for my mom's birthday.
DAWN's face falls instantly. LUX covers her mouth with her hand.
LUX
Dawn. I'm so sorry. That was really stupid of me.
DAWN
No, it's ok. I just forgot, I still have to get Buffy something for her birthday, it's next week.
LUX
So, you're in then?
DAWN
Definitely.
7 INT. JOLT COFFEE SHOP - DAY
PAN DOWN TO BUFFY, WILLOW, and KENNEDY.
KENNEDY
So, have you got like anything planned out?
BUFFY
Not exactly, I mean you're all invited. And Xander and Dawn too, obviously. And I think I'll ask Sarah.
WILLOW
Who?
BUFFY
This girl from my class. Sweet girl; not that bright.
WILLOW looks at her coffee cup and turns it upside down, making an exaggerated sad-face.
WILLOW
I'm empty and definitely needing a refill. You were right about this place Ken, it's amazing.
KENNEDY
Did I tell you or what?
WILLOW smiles and stands.
WILLOW
Anyone else?
BUFFY and KENNEDY both shake their heads.
WILLOW
Ok, suit yourselves.
WILLOW walks away. As the camera follows her to the counter, we see another girl at the table next to them, reading a book. Every couple seconds she looks over to KENNEDY and BUFFY, paying particular attention to the former. PAN BACK TO BUFFY, KENNEDY. (They haven't noticed the girl watching them.)
KENNEDY
'Yourselves?' Is that a word?
BUFFY
I'm thinking no.
KENNEDY
Is it smart to let her have that much coffee?
BUFFY
Again with the no. You know when its almost Christmas time, and all the little kids get really over-excited? Like, don't stop moving for 3 days straight?
KENNEDY
She gets like *that*??
BUFFY
Off course not... only ten times worse.
KENNEDY bangs her head on the table, and BUFFY laughs.
ZOOM IN on the other girl. Keep zooming until all's we see are her eyes-the exact same ones from the third scene.
ACT II
8 INT. SILVERDUST - NIGHT
CAMERA ON: The inside of the club. Obnoxiously loud music's playing, and we can't hear anyone speak. The CAMERA PANS DOWN TO: XANDER, WILLOW, and KENNEDY sitting at a table. They're laughing about
something, but we still can't hear what. Finally, the song ends, and their conversation can be heard.
KENNEDY (while laughing)
He actually put it on his head?
XANDER
Hey, we tried to talk him out of it, but when a man wants to wear a lobster-hat, its not my place to stop him.
WILLOW
And we thought good ol' Sunnydale residents were weird.
They all laugh, and the music starts back up again. (Only less-loud this time)
XANDER
It sucks that the Buffster couldn't make it.
WILLOW
Yeah, but she needed to get some sleep. You heard the good news 'bout her job, right?
XANDER
Yep. This is good for her. Maybe a stable job will help her ease back into normal life.
9 INT. BUFFY'S ROOM - NIGHT
ANGLE ON: BUFFY, asleep.
KENNEDY (V.O.)
It's hard to escape destiny, but she's sure trying.
BUFFY tosses and turns as we continue to ZOOM IN on her. There's a flash of light, and we've entered her dream.
10 INT. BUFFY'S ROOM - DAY (cont'd)
BUFFY wakes up in her room, but not the right one. ZOOM OUT: we can see that it's actually her old room in Sunnydale. She gets up and walks to the door. She opens it and walks into the living room.
11 INT. LIVING ROOM - DAY (cont'd)
ANGLE ON: WILLOW, sitting on the couch, talking to a monkey.
BUFFY
Will? What'cha doing?
WILLOW
He's supposed to know by now. Repeat after me: M. l'Hippopotame, je vraiment ai besoin de mes pantalon de retour.
BUFFY looks at WILLOW, who's still conversing with the monkey. She wanders into the hallway and out the front door.
12 EXT. STREET (OUTSIDE HOUSE) - DAY (cont'd)
BUFFY stands in the middle of a street in Sunnydale (before it went ka-blewy).
ZOOM OUT so we can see more than just BUFFY. Girls are fighting various demons on the sidewalks and in front of the houses that line the street.
BUFFY starts walking, and the camera follows her from behind. When Buffy passes the girls, they slay their demons and the girl smiles at BUFFY. This happens 3 times, and BUFFY finally stops next to one of them.
Same as before, the girl wins and smiles at BUFFY, man walks up to her and offers her cheese from a plate.
Buffy walks on, but then in front of her, at the end of the street. A shadow passes through the sky, when it passes the girls, they fall down and incinerate on the spot. PAN OUT: the girls are
catching fire up and down the seemingly endless street.
CAMERA ON: BUFFY, she shakes her head in disbelief, and she sees someone out of the corner of her eye who's not on fire. BUFFY runs to her, and spins the girl around to face her. It's KENNEDY.
BUFFY
What's happening?
KENNEDY
They're not strong enough.
BUFFY
But they're slayers.
KENNEDY
It's not the power that matters, its how you handle it.
KENNEDY gestures to the other SLAYERS.
KENNEDY
Do you really think they can deal? Without Watchers, without training. They're all destined. To die.
BUFFY
That's the natural order.
KENNEDY
You think this is natural? Funny. You've tried to escape your calling from the start. But now you've pushed it on all these girls. Did they want it any more than you did?
BUFFY slowly backs away from KENNEDY.
BUFFY
I did the right thing.
KENNEDY
The right thing for who?
We hear a banging noise in the distance, and suddenly the location changes.
13 INT. BUFFY'S ROOM - NIGHT
CAMERA ON: BUFFY sitting up with a start.
DAWN (O.S.)
Buffy?
DAWN opens the door and steps inside.
DAWN
You wanted me to get you up at 9, so you weren't late to your job.
BUFFY
Oh, thanks Dawnie. I'll be down in a minute.
DAWN
Ok.
DAWN EXITS and closes the door behind her. BUFFY sighs and starts to get ready to leave.
ACT III
14 EXT. STREET-NIGHT
KENNEDY walks along a deserted street. She twirls her stake idly and hums. It's deathly quiet, and its pretty obvious she's bored to tears.
KENNEDY
Come on already. I'm fed up with wandering around here. Gimme something to kill.
As if on cue, a girl starts screaming. KENNEDY briefly looks skyward.
KENNEDY
Thanks.
She rushes in the direction of the scream, and finds herself in the cemetery. KENNEDY looks around, trying to determine where it came from, when someone steps out of the shadows.
GIRL
Slayers. Always so predictable. But then, I guess I shouldn't be talking.
15 INT. KITCHEN - NIGHT
The phone's ringing in the kitchen at Buffy's house. DAWN's standing there, and she picks it up.
DAWN
Hello?
16 INT. AIRPLANE - NIGHT
CUT TO: A man, in an airplane. There's a few others on board with him, and it looks like a private plane. He's stuffy and wearing tweed, so it's safe to assume he's a Watcher.
MAN
Yes, hello. Is Buffy Summers there, please?
17 INT. KITCHEN - NIGHT
DAWN (into the phone)
Um, sure, just a second.
DAWN (yelling)
BUFFY! PHONE FOR-
BUFFY comes around the corner, and DAWN lowers her voice.
DAWN
-you.
BUFFY
Thanks.
She takes the phone out of DAWN's grasp and speaks into it.
BUFFY
Hello?
18 INT. AIRPLANE - NIGHT
MAN
Hello, Miss Summers. Let me make this brief. I'm from the Watcher's Council in London-
19 INT. KITCHEN - NIGHT
BUFFY checks her watch and sighs.
BUFFY
You guys never make this brief, and I have somewhere to be. So get to the reason you're calling me.
MAN (over the phone)
Yes. Quite right. My name is Tanner Coles, and-
BUFFY (impatiently)
What's the trouble?
20 INT. AIRPLANE-NIGHT
TANNER
It seems a rouge Slayer might be after one of the other slayers. I believe she might be a friend of yours?
A hand from next to him hands over a paper.
TANNER
A Kennedy Suarez?
21 INT. KITCHEN - NIGHT
BUFFY sits down at the kitchen table.
BUFFY
She's my friend, yeah. Rouge Slayer, like Faith?
TANNER (over the phone)
Faith?
He shuffles some papers on his lap.
TANNER
Ah, yes. No, not Faith literally, but that's the general idea. Someone has hired her as an assassin. We're not clear on-
The phone cuts out, but it fixes after a few seconds.
TANNER
-figured out soon.
BUFFY
What? I missed some of that. Your phone died or something.
TANNER (over phone)
Sorry, we hit a spot of turbulence.
BUFFY
Turbulence?... As in airplane turbulence?
22 INT. AIRPLANE - NIGHT
TANNER
I was getting to that part. Now, as I was saying this Slayer was hired to kill Miss Suarez. As far as we know, she could already be in Edmonsville.
BUFFY (over phone)
What???
TANNER
That's where you live now, isn't it?
BUFFY (still over the phone)
Well, yes, but... (sighs) What's Rouge girl like?
TANNER
Her name is. (checks papers) Stephanie Allbaugh, age 18, 5 foot 5 inches, light brown hair, blue eyes.
23 INT. KITCHEN - NIGHT
BUFFY
I'll put out the Scooby APB. (She looks at the clock again) Oh crap, I'm gonna be late for my job. Tell Dawn what you told me.
She hands the phone to DAWN and rushes out of the house
BUFFY (over her shoulder)
Dawn, write down what he says and then call Willow!
24 EXT. GRAVEYARD - NIGHT
CUT TO: KENNEDY and STEPHANIE in the graveyard.
KENNEDY
Who are you?
STEPHANIE
You don't really need to know that.
She starts circling around KENNEDY.
STEPHANIE
Bet you didn't know there was a nice price on your head. Some powerful people would very much like to see you dead.
KENNEDY
I'll pass. I like to see me living.
STEPHANIE
That's too bad. You didn't get a choice.
She lunges at KENNEDY, pulling a wicked-looking knife out from behind her back. KENNEDY dodges her, but the knife grazes her arm. She inhales sharply, holding her arm, and spins to face STEPHANIE.
KENNEDY
You. You're a Slayer too, aren't you?
STEPHANIE
Very good, took you long enough. No one ever said Slayers had to be smart, I guess.
STEPHANIE kicks KENNEDY in the stomach, and sends KENNEDY flying. She bounces off a tree and falls to the ground. She stands back up to face the girl again.
KENNEDY
Riddle me this-
She dodges a blow from the other slayer.
KENNEDY
You got all this power. Supposed to be used for good.
Another dodge.
KENNEDY
And yet, you go out and make it a point to kill Slayers, the only
people in the world like you. What's the deal?
STEPHANIE laughs and shakes her head. KENNEDY takes the opportunity to land a blow of her own, in the centre of STEPHANIE's face. Without pausing, KENNEDY drops down and sweeps STEPHANIE's legs out from under her. KENNEDY moves to stand over STEPHANIE, with her foot positioned over her throat.
KENNEDY
Who do you work for?
STEPHANIE reaches up and grabs KENNEDY's ankle. She twists it hard, and KENNEDY falls to the side.
STEPHANIE
Like I said, none of your business.
KENNEDY rolls over onto her back and looks up.
KENNEDY (to the sky)
That thank you? I take it back.
She springs back up and they continue fighting.
25 INT. WILLOW & KENNEDY'S DORM ROOM - NIGHT
CUT TO: WILLOW, on the phone (with DAWN). WILLOW is writing down
everything DAWN's saying to her, and repeating it back to make sure she's right.
WILLOW
Ok, I think I got it.
DAWN (on phone)
How are we gonna get her incapacitated? Slayers, usually strong-ish.
WILLOW
That's easy. How'd we get rid of Faith?
She thinks for a second.
WILLOW
This might be harder than I thought.
ACT IV
26 INT. WILLOW's CAR - NIGHT
FADE IN ON: WILLOW, in the car. She's dialling her cell phone, and
puts it to her ear. We can hear it ringing on the other end, but no one's picking up.
27 EXT. GRAVEYARD - NIGHT
CUT TO: CLOSE UP of KENNEDY's cell phone. It's lying on the ground, but KENNEDY is nowhere to be seen. Sounds of the fight can be heard in the distance.
28 INT. WILLOW's CAR - NIGHT
CUT BACK TO WILLOW. She snaps the phone shut and throws it on the
seat next to her. She pulls hard on the wheel, and she screeches into the parking lot of the cemetery. She gets out of the car and slams the door shut.
WILLOW (to herself)
Now lets hope you haven't changed your patrolling schedule.
29 EXT. GRAVEYARD - NIGHT
CUT TO: The other side of the graveyard (opposite where WILLOW
entered). A large black van pulls into another parking lot and 4 men get out. They start running into the graveyard.
30 EXT. GRAVEYARD - NIGHT
PAN TO KENNEDY and STEPHANIE. KENNEDY's laying on the ground, and
STEPHANIE's about to kill her. WILLOW and the 4 men reach them at the same time.
WILLOW
Scindo seorsum!
KENNEDY and STEPHANIE fly apart. TANNER walks up to
WILLOW while two other walk up to STEPHANIE with handcuffs.
TANNER
Thank you for your assistance.
WILLOW (distracted)
No problem.
CUT TO: KENNEDY. She moans and stands up. WILLOW rushes over to her, and KENNEDY leans heavily on her.
WILLOW
Baby, are you ok?
KENNEDY
Super-slaying healing should kick in anytime.
She smiles.
One of the other watchers lands next to her. CAMERA TURNS TO STEPHANIE, who throws the other watcher away. WILLOW aims at her.
WILLOW
Scindo-
KENNEDY pushes her arms away.
WILLOW
seorsum.
A blue bulp flies to the sky.
WILLOW
What was that for.
KENNEDY
My fight.
KENNEDY gets up again. She walks up to STEPHANIE. The two of them circle around each other. The WATCHERS and WILLOW back up.
KENNEDY
You didn't think it'd be that easy to get beaten, now did you?
STEPHANIE smirks
Should've known it wasn't.
She swings her knife at KENNEDY, but KENNEDY steps back. She swings once more and KENNEDY avoids it. And once more, but this time KENNEDY steps to the side, grabs STEPHANIE'S wrist and kicks her in the side. STEPHANIE drops to her knees and lets go of the knife. KENNEDY takes it from her and throws it away.
KENNEDY
Now lets see whether you can do a fair fight, huh?
STEPHANIE gets up and lungs at KENNEDY, who easily avoids. KENNEDY then hits her full in the face, another kick in the stomach and then tackles her. STEPHANIE gets up again and throws a blow, but misses. STEPHANIE throws in another blow, but KENNEDY ducks. Then KENNEDY storms at STEPHANIE, ducked, she grabs her legs and throws them up. This way she throws STEPHANIE up, who lands flat on her back. KENNEDY turns around, and looks at STEPHANIE, who's still down.
KENNEDY
Enough?
STEPHANIE (mumbling)
Never.
STEPHANIE gets up again and storms at KENNEDY, but she steps away and STEPHANIE falls down. She gets up again and storms at KENNEDY, who again steps away and STEPHANIE falls down again, screaming in pain. Once more she gets up. She limps at KENNEDY and starts hitting her, slapping her girl-style. KENNEDY blocks her every move. Finally STEPHANIE drops down to her knees, crying. The WATCHERS walk over and put STEPHANIE in the handcuffs, while KENNEDY walks off to WILLOW.

FADE IN TO: BUFFY, walking in the door. She shuts it behind her and throws her bag into the corner of the hall.
