CUT TO: The phone beeps and the answering machine picks up.
VOICE-MAIL (Buffy's voice)
Hello, you've reached the home of Dawn and Buffy Summers, and Xander Harris. Guess we're not at home right now, so leave your name and number and we'll get back to you. (Beep)
ANDREW (On the phone)
Mr. Giles, I finally found the number where you said you'd be staying.
GILES
Bloody imbecile.
All of them laugh.

ANDREW (On the phone)
Everything went as planned. Angel seemed really upset when I told him Buffy didn't trust him anymore. We didn't go too far, did we? I'll be in the office for the rest of the day, call me when you get in.
A beep.
PAN AROUND the table, at everyone's faces. BUFFY, WILLOW, XANDER and KENNEDY look at GILES confused.
CUT TO:
GILES
It’s Wolfram and Hart. They're evil. They have to know to stop this.
CUT TO:
BUFFY near to tears
How could you? … How could you? You monster!
GILES
You know this has nothing to do with you, there’s nothing for you to complain about! You’re out of the game, by choice, so this has absolutely nothing to do with you. Not everything is about you, you know that!
BUFFY crying
And how about my love?
XANDER holds her.
GILES yelling
You call that love? You’ve been banging his worst enemy for the last two years. If it’s love why aren’t you with him right now, huh? It was never love, it was just another case of hormones on overdrive.
CUT TO: KENNEDY standing by GILES.
KENNEDY in a soft voice.
I think you should leave now.
GILES

CAMERA ON: XANDER sitting there, having breakfast. A disorientated BUFFY walks in, fully dressed, she's looking extremely sad.
XANDER
Good morning to you to.
BUFFY sad
Hi.
XANDER
How are you?
BUFFY sad
Go figure.
XANDER
Yeah, I thought so... if you want to talk about last night-
BUFFY sad
Where's Dawn?
XANDER
She went home with Kara and Lux, I didn't think you'd mind... a little peace in the house.
BUFFY sad
It's ok. I have to go now though.
XANDER
Where to?
BUFFY sad
Nowhere, I just... I need to get out of here.
XANDER
It's ok.
There's a pause, while he eats some more and she drinks something.
XANDER
I'm sorry that I have you this now of all times, but you won't forget the grand opening of the docks tonight, will you? I mean, if you don't want to come, it's ok.
BUFFY sad
I'll be back in time.
She smiles faintly, XANDER continues eating and Buffy finishes her drink, then she cleans up and leaves.
CUT TO:
2 INT. KARA'S ROOM - DAY
CAMERA ON: DAWN, LUX and KARA are sitting on KARA's bed and talking. On the floor there are glasses with coke, a bowl with popcorn and another one with sweets. LUX is reading a magazine.
KARA
One minute they were there and the second they were gone
LUX
Who was gone??
KARA
Puppies! You'd know that if you were listening to me for the last 5 minutes instead of attacking popcorn
LUX
Hey!!
DAWN laughing
Lux, it really looked that way.
They look at each other and all start to laugh
KARA
Okay, but this is serious. Five adorable puppies and I've seen and hugged them, are missing.
LUX
And what can we do about it?
KARA
We should investigate! I mean, that's what we do right, or you?
DAWN
Yeah, but we only handle supernatural case, the rest is taken care of by the police.
LUX browsing through a magazine.
Should we do it now? It's pretty late.
She blows her bubblegum.
KARA
Hello, it's only 10am in the morning.
LUX eyes still on the magazine
That's what I said, time to be looking at gorgeous men.
KARA hits her on the head with a pillow.
LUX
Ouch.
KARA
If you help us, you can keep that issue.
LUX looks up
Really?
Her bubblegum pops in her face.
CUT TO:
3 INT. MONESTARY CHAPPEL - DAY
CAMERA ON: A blue stained-glass window at the end of the chapel. PAN AWAY, on the first row, we see the back of a caped person, sitting there with a bowed head. RAPIDLY PAN AWAY to reveal BUFFY at the end of the isle. The caped man, MERCUTIO, turns around.
MERCUTIO
It's not Wednesday and yet you're here... to what do I owe the honor?
BUFFY starts walking in his direction.
BUFFY
No reason in particular.
MERCUTIO
Doesn't have anything to do with... what's his name, that watcher, who was in town. Heard he left in quite a hurry last night.
She has now reached the first row and sits down next to him.
BUFFY
... ... ... Maybe.
MERCUTIO
Why come to me?
BUFFY sighs. She looks up at him.
BUFFY
Cause... I have nowhere else to go.
CUT TO:
4 INT. WILLOW AND KENNEDY's DORMROOM - DAY
CAMERA ON: The door, it opens, WILLOW walks in. She has just come from the shower.
PAN AROUND: To see KENNEDY with her back turned to the CAMERA, putting on a t-shirt.
WILLOW
Good morning.
KENNEDY
Hey! Got any plans for today? Are we gonna slay tonight, or stay with Buffy?
WILLOW
We're gonna slay. She'll be fine, just give her some time.
KENNEDY
I hope so, god, I can't believe Giles would do that. I don't know him as much as you do off course, but still, can you understand it?
WILLOW
Though I feel sorry for Buffy too, I can see why Giles did it.
KENNEDY gives her a look
Oh really?
WILLOW
I can't say I completely agree with what he did, but I don't really disagree either.
KENNEDY shocked
Come again?
WILLOW
No, wait let me explain. This decision had nothing to do with Buffy, Angel's going the wrong way and Giles tried to make it clear to him, that he has to stop.
KENNEDY
Using Buffy?
WILLOW
Only sort of, in the end, she'll be better off if Angel isn't evil! This is a very complicated thing, not everything is black and white you know.
KENNEDY shocked
You're defending him!
WILLOW angry
Maybe... and so what if I am. I for one think, that Giles made the right call. And so what, if he didn't do what's best for his friends, he did what's best for the bigger picture.
KENNEDY angry
Is that what kind of a friend he is? Is that what kind of a friend you want to be?
WILLOW angry
Oh, you know nothing about what kind of a friend he is. He helped me out of the dark place, he did more for me then you will ever!
A beat.
A tear rolls over KENNEDY's cheek.
WILLOW
Oh real mature.
KENNEDY looks up in distress, then she runs to the door and runs away.
WILLOW to herself
Spoiled brat.
CUT TO:
5 EXT. GARDEN - DAY
CAMERA ON: LUX, DAWN, KARA searching through the bushes and flowers.
LUX sighs
Do we have to do this for much longer; my back is starting to hurt?
KARA sighs
I told you, we should've taped her mouth of, she just can't stop complaining.
LUX
It's your fault; I shouldn't be ploughing through the earth like this, look at my nails.
LUX holds up her dirty hands.
DAWN sighs
I guess we should've... just search on Lux.
LUX sighs loudly again.
KARA enthusiastic
Alright!
LUX
What alright, we gonna stop now?
KARA
No, I found something, come take a look at this.
DAWN and LUX move over to KARA. KARA shows them a shinny object laying about half covered in dirt. DAWN picks it up.
DAWN
Good work detective Wyatt.
LUX
What is it?
KARA
Looks like a piece of jewellery
DAWN
Or an amulet.
KARA
I'm telling you. Something strange is going on in my neighbourhood.
LUX
So, does this mean this case is supernatural enough to be in our jurisdiction?
DAWN
Not necessarily, but we could run through the books and see if this lands us anywhere.
FADE TO BLACK
ACT II
6 INT. SUMMER's RESIDENCE - DAY
CAMERA ON: DAWN, LUX, KARA are reading research books that are spread out over the table.
LUX
Did you know that an Argentum-demon's skin is made out of pure silver?
DAWN

LUX
Well, it's true. ... ... ... Did you know that a Döppler-demon doesn't need to eat; he feeds of sonic waves. So he can usually be found around highways, airports or concert halls.
DAWN

LUX
Well, it's true. .... ... ... Did you know, that-
DAWN
Shut up!
A beat.
KARA
Got it... even though I could hardly focus thanks to Miss Did-you-know.
DAWN
Tell me, about it... what do you have?
DAWN and LUX lean over to look in KARA's book. KARA picks up the amulet and looks from it, to a picture in the book, and back to the amulet.
KARA
It seems to me that this is an Avigar-amulet, it can be used to increase... sexual potency; but no connection to dogs... thank god.
LUX
Alright then, so dead end. Can we go about our normal business now?
DAWN sighs
It's not a dead end. We've got some valuable information about the possible pupnapper.
LUX
He or she has potency-issues?
DAWN
No... well that as well, but it's a hard to come by and expensive amulet it says here. So the one, who did this, must have pretty good contacts in the scene and a lot of money.
DAWN moves over to her laptop.
KARA
What are you doing?
DAWN
I'll run a search on spell-web.
She types something in.
DAWN
A-vi-gar
She clicks somewhere.
DAWN
See, one of the attributes to the spell-type is fertility. And now look here, it's an amateur level artefact. Hmm.
She clicks somewhere else, types something again and again clicks somewhere.
KARA
What are you doing now?
DAWN
I'm running a search for all spell, curses and magical artefacts, that are of fertility-type and that require live or dead animals.
LUX
Ewww.
DAWN
There we go, 6 possible spells, let's check them out.
She clicks somewhere.
DAWN
Not this one, it requires snails.
LUX
Why do all these magic things have to be so gross?
DAWN clicks somewhere.
KARA
Dogs!
DAWN
But only stud-dogs.
LUX
I don't even want to know.
DAWN clicks somewhere.
DAWN
I fear, this one might be it. Novice-level, increases sexual potency and fertility and... size.
LUX
Oh, that's interesting; maybe you could show it to my ex.
DAWN
The spell requires ritual sacrifice of the puppies.
LUX
Never mind... so what do we do next?
DAWN
Well, let's see the other ingredients for this spell.
She reads something on the screen.
DAWN
Most of it, he could've only gotten over e-Bay, but some of these can be purchased right here in Edmonsville. There's this one Wiccan student that runs a small magic store in her dorm room. We could stop by her and ask her bough some of these herbs.
LUX
Edmonsville has a magic store?
DAWN
Duh, every self-respecting town has one these days.
CUT TO:
7 INT. THE MONASTERY - DAY
CAMERA ON: BUFFY leaning against MERCUTIO, her eyes are red from crying.
MERCUTIO
If it'll help, I've been betrayed a few times as well.
BUFFY
It doesn't. Knowing how bad this whole world is, will only make me feel bad.
A pause.
But if you'll feel better, go ahead.
CUT TO:
8 EXT. ITALIAN COUNTRY-SIDE - DAY
(SUBTITLES: Italy, 1941)
CAMERA ON: A group of people working in the fields, then there are loud sounds. Airplanes are flying over. A few army jeeps are driving by. PAN IN ON: A young worker man looking up at the planes.
CUT TO: An army officer handing the young man over a paper.
FADE TO:
9 INT. ITALIAN HOUSE - NIGHT
CAMERA ON: The same young man, with a packed bag, hugging his mother and father, and then walking out.
FADE TO:
10 INT. ARMY BUS - DAY
CAMERA ON: The same young man in the bus with other young men. The bus reaches the gates of an army camp.
MERCUTIO (V.O.)
I was drafted. ... Mussolini needed more men to die for the crouches.
FADE TO:
11 EXT. BOOT CAMP - DAY
CAMERA ON: The group of young men, walking in line out of the bus. MERCUTIO (his younger self) walks in the line, he looks to the right.
CUT TO: A well dressed man, standing in the shadows of a barrack; he's talking to some officers. He looks up to the CAMERA, which is about 30ft away.
CUT TO: MERCUTIO, in slow motion, walking, still look at his right.
CUT TO: The well dressed men, looking to the CAMERA which moves to the side. Then he adverts his eyes, back to the officers.
CUT TO: MERCUTIO looking back in front of him. The line passes an officer, we stop at him.
OFFICER
Benvenuto per caricare il sistema accampamento!
(subt.: Welcome to boot camp!)
CUT TO:
12 INT. DORM ROOM - DAY
CAMERA ON: A messy room, with shut windows, candle-lit. There's a knock on the door. A goth-girl (JUDY) comes into the frame and walks to the door, she opens it.
CUT TO: DAWN, KARA, and LUX standing in front of her in the door opening.
DAWN
Hi!
CUT TO: JUDY
JUDY
Dawn? What brings you hear without Willow?
CUT TO: DAWN
DAWN
Leading an unofficial Scooby-Investigation, can we come in?
CUT TO: JUDY
JUDY
Sure.
PAN OUT as they walk into the room, they close the door behind them. They sit down on some pillows.
DAWN
Alright, this is Kara, and this is Lux. Lux and Kara this is Frances Gumm.
JUDY
Just call me Judy. So, what's the problem?
DAWN
A litter of puppies was stolen. We have reasons to believe that the perpetrator may have bought a large party of frankbaum-herbs... from you.
JUDY gives her a suspicious look.
DAWN
Don't worry; we're not accusing you of being an accomplice.
JUDY
There was a guy... First time customer. Didn't leave me a name.
DAWN
Can you give a description?
JUDY
Novice to magic. He was about 6 feet tall, a bit on the chubby side, I'd say about 45 years old. Starting to loose hair. ... I've seen him before though, works at the home-improvement store, down at tamerlane.
DAWN smirks
Thanks.
JUDY
No problem, just... no word, that I told you, I might lose business and college is expensive enough as it is.
DAWN nods
See ya.
DAWN, LUX and KARA walk out; JUDY closes the door behind them.
FADE TO BLACK
ACT III
13 INT. BOOT CAMP BARAK - NIGHT
CAMERA ON: The sleeping room, packed with recruits. All light are off.
MERCUTIO (V.O.)
Until that one night, everything was as normal as can be expected from a boot camp.
The dim lights are turned on. In walk two officers (CAPTAIN and MAJOR) and the well dressed man (VALENTINO).
CAPTAIN (shouting)
Tutti che viti senza fine usciate della base ora!
(subt.: All you worms get out of bed right now!)
All young men, get out of bed and line up in front of the CAPTAIN. He marches by them, inspecting them.
CAPTAIN
Uomini stanno andando ottenere stasera la probabilitŕ di un tempo di vita.
(subt.: Some of you men are going to get the chance of a life time tonight.)
CAPTAIN
Volontŕ abbiamo bisogno dei volontari per un progetto speciale. Quelli di voi che otterranno selezionati, non dovranno servire nell'esercito.
(subt.: We will need volunteers for a special project. Those of you, who will get picked, will not have to serve in the army.)
The CAPTAIN turns to VALENTINO, he nods at him. VALENTINO looks around them.
CUT TO: MERCUTIO, he's looking straight at the CAMERA
CUT TO: VALENTINO, also looking straight at the CAMERA, he smirks. PAN OUT: The CAPTIAN walks to MERCUTIO and pushes him out of the line. MERCUTIO is a little hesitant.
CAPTAIN
Che cosa č la materia con voi. Desiderate uscire di qui o morire sulla parte anteriore?
(subt.: What's the matter with you. You want to get out of here or die on the front?)
MERCUTIO sighs and walks off in the direction the CAPTAIN is pointing in.
MERCUTIO (V.O.)
If only I would've died on the front.
As MERCUTIO exits, we see the CAPTAIN selecting another man.
CUT TO:
14 INT. MONESTARY CHAPPEL - DAY
CAMERA ON: BUFFY and MERCUTIO sitting there on the front row.
BUFFY
You got offered a chance to save your life, and you took it. Sort of... normal?
MERCUTIO
I'm sorry, but I'm picking a corpse over the freak I am now any time.
BUFFY
Don't worry... we're all freaks.
MERCUTIO
Not my kind.
CUT TO:
15 EXT. CASTLE - NIGHT
CAMERA ON: An old castle somewhere in the hills, from above, it's guarded by German soldiers. It's raining out side.
CUT TO:
16 INT. CASTLE ENTRY HALL - NIGHT
CAMERA ON: The large oak front door, it opens, outside it's raining and storming. A group of about 15 Italian men walk in, guarded by German and Italian soldiers. CAMERA TURNS AROUND: To a DOCTOR in a white overcoat.
DOCTOR smirking
Schließlich neue Themen für die Expiriments. Holen Sie sie zum Kerker.
MERCUTIO (V.O.)
I have no idea, what he said, I didn't speak one word German, but when I heard his voice, I instantly knew that I had to get out of there as soon as possible.
The guards push the Italian men forward.
CUT TO:
17 NT. CASTLE DUNGEON - NIGHT
CAMERA ON: A group of five Italian men are locked up in a cell together. Amongst them is MERCUTIO.
ITALIAN #1
Sto domandandosi se questa fosse cosě idea saggia fare.
(subt.: I'm wondering if this was such a wise idea to do.)
ITALIAN #2
Che cosa? Venire qui? Qualche cosa allora morire migliore alla parte anteriore.
(subt.: What? Coming here? Anything better then dieing at the front.)
ITALIAN #3
Definitivamente, benchč debba dire, non mi fido dei tedeschi.
(subt.: Definitely, though I must say, I don't trust the crouches.)
MERCUTIO angry
Qualcosa č errata, io puň ritenerla. Puzzi interi di questi affari.
(subt.: Something is wrong, I can feel it. This whole business stinks.)
ITALIAN #4 laughing scared
Non vi siete sentiti? ... Non parlate tedesco?
(subt.: Didn't you hear? ... You don't speak German, do you?)
ITALIAN #1
E potete farli?
(subt.: And you do?)
ITALIAN #4 scared
No, appena una punta piccola, ma quel medico, ha detto qualcosa circa i expiriments, questa non č di destra!
(subt.: No, just a little bit, but that doctor, he said something about experiments, this isn't right!)
The door of the cell opens, the DOCTOR is there with two German SOLDIERS, they walk toward ITALIAN #4 and pick him up and take him with, he tries to stop them and screams, but it doesn't help. The door gets locked again.
FADE TO:
18 EXT. CAMPUS PLAZA - DAY
CAMERA ON: LUX, DAWN and KARA walking over the plaza.
LUX
So what do we do now?
DAWN
I think we should just go by the store, check up on the suspect. Then follow him home afterwards.
KARA
I think it would be easier to go back to my house, one of my neighbours, from a couple of houses up the block works at the home improvement store.
LUX and DAWN both stare at KARA
DAWN
So all along it was just someone from the neighbourhood.
KARA
I just never though of him as a suspect, he's my neighbour.
LUX
That doesn't matter Charles Manson was also someone's neighbour.
DAWN
Good point...Now we should have a look at his house. Kara lead us.
CUT TO:
19 INT. SUMMER's RESIDENCE LIVING ROOM - EVENING
CAMERA ON: The door to the staircase. It's getting dark outside, the door opens XANDER walks in. He stands still for a second. CAMERA TURNS AROUN: KENNEDY is sitting on the couch, we can see she has been crying. She turns to him and gets up.
KENNEDY
It's Willow.
She starts to cry again. CAMERA TURNS BACK TO XANDER, he puts his case on the ground, and walks up to her, he hugs and holds her.
XANDER
It's okay sweetie, hush hush now.
A pause.
He let's go of her. Just relax, have a seat, I'll get you a glass of water. KENNEDY sits down. We can hear XANDER walking to the kitchen and making a glass of water. He comes back, and sits down next to her. He gives her the glass. She sips at it.
XANDER
So, what happened?
KENNEDY sad
It's Willow, we... we had a fight. She hates me now.
XANDER
I'm sure it'll blow over, before you know it, all good couples fight.
KENNEDY sad
I know, but this... it's worse. She was being so mean... I was being so mean.
KENNEDY starts to cry again. XANDER puts her glass on the table and holds her again.
FADE TO:
20 INT. CASTLE DUNGEON - NIGHT
CAMERA ON: MERCUTIO being pulled out of the dungeon by two German guards.
GUARD 1
Hast oben, Sie italienisches Schwein!
He pushes MERCUTIO on.
MERCUTIO (V.O.)
And finally, I was taken with from the cell, after having to listen to the screams of the others for weeks.
CUT TO:
21 INT. CASTLE DUNGEON-LAB - NIGHT
CAMERA ON: A table is in the middle of the room, around it, all sort of medical equipment and spell books. The DOCTOR walks up to MERCUTIO and inspects him.
DOCTOR smirking
Das vollkommene Probestück, die Führer soll erfreut sein.
He turns serious now.
DOCTOR to the guards.
Gesetzt ihm auf die Tabelle. Stellen Sie sicher, daß er herauf fest gebunden wird.
The guards throw MERCUTIO on the table, and as they hold him down, some other guards tied him down to it.
CUT TO: The DOCTOR from MERCUTIO's point of view. He walks to him with a thick needle.
DOCTOR
Lassen Sie jetzt Ihre Wiedergeburt beginnen.
He sticks the needle into MERCUTIO. And the CAMERA begins to spin around, moving in shocks. MERCUTIO begin screaming. Colors fade. And light flashes. This all will continue in the next few scenes.
CUT TO:
22 INT. CASTLE DUNGEON-LAB - NIGHT
CAMERA ON: The DOCTOR bowed over MERCUTIO's stomach, blood all over his clothes. Someone off screen hands him over a scalpel.
CUT TO:
23 INT. CASTLE DUNGEON-LAB - NIGHT
CAMERA ON: Another DOCTOR with blood over his clothes cutting very near to the CAMERA. We see someone moving back and forth in the back, we hear sawing noises.
CUT TO:
24 INT. CASTLE DUNGEON-LAB - NIGHT
CAMERA ON: Several DOCTORs are now bowed over MERCUTIO's stomach, one of them pulls something out. MERCUTIO screams even harder as we see the DOCTOR put his liver on a plate and give it to someone off screen.
CUT TO:
25 INT. CASTLE DUNGEON - NIGHT
The CAMERA is back to normal and the screaming has stopped now. CAMERA ON: MERCUTIO in the back of the dungeon curled up in a corner.
MERCUTIO (V.O.)
And then, there was nothing but pain. I was never more aware of my body then at that time. Every small bit of my body was another layer of hell itself. That was how much pain there was... ... it even made the time disappear. Hours, days, weeks, months, years, centuries I sat there in that corner, until...
We hear the lock getting opened. The DOCTOR, VALENTINO, a COLONEL and a GUARD walk in.
DOCTOR
Dort ist er, das beste Probestück bis jetzt.
COLONEL
Er schaut zu mir schwach. Betrachten Sie ihn, ein anderes wertloses Experiment.
DOCTOR
Er ist nicht, er ist stärker dann irgendwelche von den anderen. Ich denke, daß dieses das erste sein konnte, zum wirklich zu leben.
COLONEL
Zuerst sehe ich, dann ich glaube. Schutz, erhält ihn auf seinen Füßen.
DOCTOR
Ich würde das nicht-
VALENTINO signals him to be quiet. The GUARD walks to MERCUTIO, to get him on his feet.
MERCUTIO (V.O.)
And then... all of a sudden, all the hurting, all the pain... it stopped.
When the GUARD reaches MERCUTIO, he jumps up at him, sinks his fangs in the GUARD's throat and rips it open. Blood splashes over his face and he drops the dead body to the ground.
FADE TO BLACK
ACT IV
EXT. EDMONSVILLE DOCKS - NIGHT
CAMERA ON: A red carpet leading to the gala opening of the new docks. A lot of people are standing in line for the entrance.
CUT TO: The CLERK at the entrance checking people for invitations.
CLERK
Goodnight sire, invitations please?

KENNEDY walks back to him, she was previously a bit out of line.
XANDER

XANDER hands his and KENNEDY's coat over to the CLERK. The walk on inside.

26 INT. CASTLE DUNGEON - NIGHT
CAMERA ON: MERCUTIO, dropping the body of the GUARD. The DOCTOR and VALENTINO look at him satisfied. The COLONEL looks at him in terror.
COLONEL amazed
Was ist es? Doktor, was haben Sie getan?... Sie haben ein Monster hergestellt.
DOCTOR

The COLONEL takes a step in MERCUTIO's direction, who hisses instantly. The COLONEL takes a step back.
COLONEL amazed

They walk out, the MAYOR stops in the doorway.
COLONEL
Sollen wir nicht den Körper erhalten?
VALENTINO shakes his head. The others walk out, VALENTINO holds the door opens after him and turns to MERCUTIO.
VALENTINO
Bon appetite!
(subt.: Enjoy your meal!)
CUT TO: MERCUTIO standing in front of the body, we hear the door getting closed. He looks at the body and is about to throw himself at it.
CUT TO:
27 EXT. PUPPYNAPPER's GARDEN - NIGHT
CAMERA ON: KARA, DAWN and LUX hiding in the bushes. We can see lights in the house are on.
KARA
He's home, what do we do now?
DAWN
I don't know, we could call the police-
LUX
What? They'd never buy our story, besides, we'd miss all the fun.
DAWN
*Or* you could stop interrupting me and let me review all our possibilities. We could call Willow, I mean, we don't know how strong this guy is.
KARA
Plus, we're not even sure, whether he is the one.
We hear dog-howls. Pup-howls actually.
The girls crawl over to a basement window. We can see a bunch of puppies in a small cage. An altar is set up.
LUX
Oh, poor dears, we're coming to save you, don't worry.
DAWN gets her cell phone out of her pocket.
A pause.
DAWN (On the phone)
Hi, it's Dawn. We need your help. We've tracked down a case of abducted puppies, we found them, but they're being held by a warlock. We're not sure whether we can take him, so could you please get here as soon as possible? ... ... ... Oh, right, the address is uhm, well you know where Kara lives, right? ... ... ... Yeah, she lives on number 12 and he lives on number 21. ... ... ... Ok, see you in 15, bye!
She turns to the others.
DAWN
She'll be here in-
She shuts up, when the lights in the basement get turned on. A guy, BILLY, fitting JUDY's description comes in. He walks up to the puppies.
BILLY
Don't worry, all will be over soon.
He puts a large knife down on the altar. Then turns to the puppies again.
I'm really sorry I have to do this, I promise, you won't feel a thing. I'll just be two minutes, I have to ... you know, nature calling.... we will start right away, when I get back, I promise.
He walks out.
KARA and LUX turn to DAWN.
CUT TO:
28 INT. GALA PARTY - NIGHT
CAMERA ON: KENNEDY standing by XANDER, a bit annoyed. XANDER is talking to some other business men, amongst whom the MAYOR and his wife.
XANDER
Absolutely, and besides don't forget it's asset for the local economy.
MAYOR
You're absolutely right there. Local economy is always very important. So whenever a community structure is up for renovation or construction, you can be expecting our call.
All the men laugh. Then music starts to play.
MAYOR
Oh, excuse me, I have to please the misses with a dance now.
The men split up. XANDER turns to
XANDER
Yes, well I will certainly do that, all right.
He shakes the hand of one of the men.
XANDER
Yes, see you.
He turns to KENNEDY.
XANDER
Sorry, business.
KENNEDY
No problem... I was just thinking about what went down this morning.
XANDER
Maybe you should stop doing that for a few minutes?
KENNEDY sad
I guess...
XANDER
You... want to dance?
KENNEDY looks up at him, a bit uncertain

They start to dance slowly. '' is played. PAN UP on the whole room cramped with dancing couples, at the one end, is a stage. PAN IN: On the stage, the performance is by Norah Jones, she plays the song 'Come Away with Me'.
FADE: XANDER and KENNEDY. She has put her head on his chest and closed her eyes. They don't say a word throughout the song.
FADE TO: Norah, singing.
FADE TO: The whole room, full of people dancing.
We continue to fade through these, from different angles, until the song is over. Nothing else happens.

29 INT. CASTLE DUNGEON – NIGHT
CAMERA ON: MERCUTIO whips the last few drops of blood from his face and licks it off his hand. Stands there for a moment, smirks, suddenly starts running on the doors. He breaks through them without any real difficulty. He runs through a small passage. Which leads to.
CUT TO:
30 INT. CASTLE DUNGEON GUARD ROOM - NIGHT
CAMERA ON: Two GUARDS blocking MERCUTIO's way. MERCUTIO hits GUARD #1 in the face. He falls down. GUARD #2 grabs for his pistol, but MERCUTIO reaches him in time, he sinks his teeth into GUARD #2's neck. The GUARD drops his pistol. Then GUARD #1 smashes him in the back. MERCUTIO drops to the ground. He turns around and he looks afraid.
CUT TO: GUARD #1 from MERCUTIO's point of view. He's holding a pistol to his head.
GUARD #1
Ich sehe Sie in der Hölle, Monster.
There's a loud bang.

31 INT. CASTLE DUNGEON GUARD ROOM - NIGHT (cont'd)
CAMERA ON: The GUARD walks to the telephone. He picks it up. We can see a figure rising behind him.
GUARD
Ja habe ich eine Dringlich-
MERCUTIO rips the phone from his hand, the line snaps. He holds his hand to the GUARD's mouth. The GUARD looks scared. MERCUTIO twists his neck around, and the GUARD drops down to the ground dead. MERCUTIO walks off.
CUT TO:
32 INT. CASTLE ENTRY HALL - NIGHT
CAMERA ON: MERCUTIO enters the hall and makes his way to the oak door.
VALENTINO (O.S.)
Andare dovunque?
(subt.: Going anywhere?)
MERCUTIO turns around. Above him at the top of the stairs VALENTINO is standing. He jumps to the side and lands on the ground, a few feet away from MERCUTIO between him and the door.
VALENTINO
Non avete desiderato morire sulla parte anteriore. I ammesso che il desiderio per voi, ora esso è la vostra girata per pagarla indietro...
(subt.: You didn't want to die on the front. I granted that wish for you, now it's your turn to pay me back...)
MERCUTIO takes a step in the right, and so does VALENTINO. MERCUTIO runs off to the left side, but VALENTINO slides to the left without moving. They're now face to face.
VALENTINO
Credo che debba spiegare tutto il questo a voi il senso duro.
(subt.: I believe I have to explain all of this to you the hard way.)
MERCUTIO shows his fangs.
Non desiderate ottenere nel mio senso, voi non avete idea, che cosa avete generato con me.
(subt.: You don't want to get in my way, you have no idea, what you've created with me.)
VALENTINO merely grins.
MERCUTIO swings with his right, but VALENTINO dodges. MERCUTIO continuously swings his left then right at VALENTINO, but he dodges it all. MERCUTIO takes a step back, seemingly to give up. Then he jumps at VALENTINO, but instead of throwing him to the ground. VALENTINO's body turns to blood where MERCUTIO touches him, and MERCUTIO falls right through. Then VALENTINO turns solid again.
MERCUTIO looks up at him.
... voi siete un monster?
(subt.: You... you're a monster as well?)
VALENTINO mocking
Non si aduli confrontandoli a me.
(subt.: Don't flatter yourself by comparing you to me.)
MERCUTIO gets up, he stands with his legs and arms spread, he starts screaming. VALENTINO looks up at him, amused. Suddenly we hear the sounds of bats approaching. Through door (except the front door) and from the stairs, bats come flying in to MERCUTIO. The fly around the room. MERCUTIO stops screaming and looks at VALENTINO enraged, he points at him, and all the bats now throw themselves at VALENTINO. VALENTINO once again merely smirks. When the first bat is about to hit him, he sticks his fist up. All bats hang still, nothing moves, there's no sound. CAMERA makes a quick circle around VALENTINO then.
CUT TO: MERCUTIO's face, he looks unsure. PAN TO: VALENTINO, he quickly moves his hand down, and all the bats drop from the air to the ground, all dead. MERCUTIO looks down at the dead bats by his feet, then up at VALENTINO, in distress.
VALENTINO
Potete avere più trucchi sul vostro manicotto allora il vampire medio, ma siete ancora soltanto umani e siete niente di confrontato al mio genere.
(subt.: You may have more tricks up your sleeve then the average vampire, but you're still only human, and you're nothing compared to my kind.)
Then the alarms go off. Sirens sounds and red lights flash. SOLDIERS come storming into the room from upstairs, they stop for a second at the sight of the dead bats, but then see VALENTINO and walk on and disappear through the front door, the COLONEL follows them, but stops near VALENTINO.
COLONEL
Es ist der Unsterbliche.
VALENTINO furious
Was? Er ist hier?... Töten Sie ihn, an allen Kosten.
The COLONEL walks off and leaves through the front door, VALENTINO turns to MERCUTIO, he looks disturbed, but friendly.
VALENTINO
Denominilo fortuna o destino sconsigliabile, ma sembra, che sarete uscire di qui stasera.
(subt.: Call it dumb luck or fate, but it seems, that you'll be getting out of here tonight.)
MERCUTIO looking suspicious.
Then there's a loud bang, an explosion outside.
VALENTINO angry again
Ed a meno che il ritrovamento un senso fuoriuscire *lui*, esso sia in una bara.
(subt.: And unless find a way to escape *him*, it will be in a coffin.)
VALENTINO turns around and walks off, into the castle. MERCUTIO turns to the oak door, and leaves through it.

33 INT. GALA PARTY - NIGHT
CAMERA ON: XANDER standing by some other business men now, the songs over.
XANDER
Yes, the technique is very important. I believe that also supervision is crucial. I always want to know what's exactly going on and if there are any problems.
HUGH (one of the business men)
My company might be willing to built here a new warehouse.
XANDER's eyes drift off. CAMERA TURNS to KENNEDY sitting by the bar having a drink, she's looking over the room, her eyes meet XANDER's. CAMERA TURNS TO: XANDER again, he turns back to the businessmen.
If you are interested please give me a call next week
XANDER
Off course.
HUGH hands XANDER his card. As XANDER puts it in his inner pocket, he casts an eye on KENNEDY again, who quickly turns back to her drink.
HUGH
Now if you excuse me I need to take my wife home.
He shakes hands with the other men. And as he leave, he turns to XANDER.
HUGH
Oh and take a word of advice from someone, who's in his fourth marriage. It's never a good idea to leave such a beautiful young girl alone for too long.
And he gestures at KENNEDY.
XANDER
Certainly...
The other businessmen laugh and the old grey haired MAN #1 joins his 20-somewhat year old blonde wife to the exit. XANDER turns to the other businessmen.
XANDER
If you'll excuse me, I think I'll be going too now.
MAN #2
Ah, Hugh got under your skin then.
XANDER
Sort off.
The others laugh and XANDER leaves. He looks up to the bar and stares straight into KENNEDY's eyes, which upsets her, she turns red. A waiter passes XANDER and their contact breaks. When the waiter has passed, KENNEDY has turned back. XANDER makes his way through the people and then joins her at the bar.
XANDER
I've talked to all people I needed to talk to... We can go home if you want to?
KENNEDY looks up at him and smiles faintly.
KENNEDY
Take me home.
CUT TO:
34 EXT. CASTLE - NIGHT
CAMERA ON: MERCUTIO coming through the big oak door. There's a lot of fire in the yard. German's are running through the screen and we can hear a lot of gunfire. We can see the German soldiers are up on the walls shooting at something outside. Suddenly an arrow hits the door, right next to where MERCUTIO is standing. Then he starts to run. He runs to the nearest by wall. In the background we can see a fireball hitting the wall, and some Germans fall off. MERCUTIO runs up the stairs. At the top of the stairs he bumps into a SOLDIER.
SOLDIER angry
Uhr heraus, wo Sie gehen!
The SOLDIER turns around, but an arrow hits him. He drops to the ground. PAN IN along the wall on a female warrior, with long blonde hair, standing by with her bow. She looks at the CAMERA. Then she picks up another arrow and loads her bow.
CUT TO: MERCUTIO seeing this and quickly turn to running, then he ducks, an arrow passes him and he runs on. CAMERA TURNS around, to reveal the battlefield. The walls are breached and more people with arrows are on the walls fighting the Germans. Even though they are outnumbered and the Germans have guns, they're on the winning hand. There's a lot of fire. Outside we see a carriage, it is opened by one of the arrowed men. A dark mysterious figure steps out of it.
MERCUTIO (V.O.)
Der Unsterbliche... the Immortal.
CUT TO:
35 EXT. CASTLE WALL - NIGHT
CAMERA ON: MERCUTIO standing on the wall of the castle on the back, he's overlooking a cliff. A figure moves behind him, MERCUTIO turns around, it's VALENTINO.
VALENTINO
Che cosa ora? Se non fate il salto, siete guasti per sicuro, ma se...
(subt.: What to do now? If you don't make the jump, you're dead for sure, but if you do...)
MERCUTIO looks down.
CUT TO: The view of the cliff, from the top.
CUT BACK TO: MERCUTIO, he turns to VALENTINO again.
VALENTINO
Nonlo guardi, là è soltanto unidirezionale scoprire.
(subt.: Don't look at me, there's only one way to find out.)
He grins. MERCUTIO, looks back to the cliff, self assured.
ANGLE ON: The castle from half way the cliff, we see MERCUTIO taking a few steps back, then running forward and making the jump.
ANGLE ON: VALENTINO, from a few feet in the cliff. He stands there on the wall, slowly raising his hands, and then suddenly quickly. There's an explosion. Fire bashes through all the windows. Even the wall VALENTINO is standing on seems to be on fire, but he just stands there with his hands raised. He slowly lowers them and then walks to the cliff and jumps off it.
CUT TO:
36 EXT. PUPPYNAPPER's GARDEN – NIGHT
CAMERA ON: KARA, DAWN and LUX's face, they're all lying flat on their belly to look throw the basement window.
KARA
Two minutes? Willow won't be here on time and these cute puppies gonna...
DAWN
No, we'll save them. You heard Judy he's a novice and he's outnumbered.
LUX
So... what's the plan??
DAWN
We go into, save puppies and get out of there?
KARA
I like it. Come on, we don't have much time left
CUT TO:
37 INT. BILLY's BASEMENT - NIGHT
CAMERA ON: KARA coming through the window, stepping onto a chair by the wall and then onto the floor. LUX does the same. KARA, LUX and DAWN get into the basement, they pick up the basket with puppies and start to go into window's direction. Suddenly, as DAWN is still standing on the chair, the door swings open and BILLY steps in.
BILLY
What the?
DAWN spins her chair around and takes on fighting pose. So do KARA and LUX, they all scream. BILLY storms at them. KARA and LUX jump to the sides and DAWN kicks up the chair, which hits BILLY. KARA hits him in the back and LUX tackles him. He falls down flat on his stomach.
DAWN
Lux find a rope or something to tie him.
CUT TO:
38 INT. BILLY's BASEMENT - NIGHT
CAMERA ON: Billie lying unconscious on a floor tied like a ham. LUX and KARA playing with the puppies and DAWN is examining the basement. He slowly comes round.
BILLY
Girls, unfasten me. I'm not going to hurt you.
KARA
Coming from a man who wanted to kill these adorable puppies?
BILLY
You don't understand.. I had to do it
WILLOW coming through the door
I just can't picture why... Nice job, after all you didn't need my help
DAWN
You're finally here! Sorry, but we couldn't have waited any longer. Sort of on a deadline here.
BILLY
Miss?? Could you help me?? These girls don't want to free me.
WILLOW
Neither do I... You started talking, so continue.
BILLY
It's rather embarrassing
LUX
I bet. Anything connected with increasing potency is.
DAWN, KARA and WILLOW stare at her
LUX
What?
KARA
Never mind. Couldn't you have picked a spell not involving animal sacrifice??
BILLY

He breaks down.

DAWN

BILLY

WILLOW a bit baffled

39 INT. SUMMER's RESIDENCE – NIGHT
CAMERA ON: KARA, LUX and DAWN playing with the puppies. WILLOW is in the kitchen and one of the puppies is laying on BUFFY's lap. She's petting it.
DAWN
-that's how it all happened... Buffy are you even listening to me??
BUFFY playing with the black puppy
Yes. Warlock. Puppies. Impotence
WILLOW comes back from the kitchen and puts down a bowl with water for the puppies.
WILLOW
After all you were listening. I think Kara's neighbour should be soon here to pick them up
DAWN, KARA, LUX and BUFFY all get a bit sad after that
DAWN
I can hear a car. It might be him.
But instead of the bell they hear a lock being opened. We hear footsteps on the stairs. It's XANDER and KENNEDY.
XANDER looks surprised
Hi?
KENNEDY carefully avoids WILLOW and sits down far away from her.
DAWN
We solved a case of pupnapping... breeder should be here any minute now to pick them up.
The bell rings.
DAWN
I'll get that.
DAWN walks off downstairs to open the door.
BUFFY turns to XANDER
I'm really sorry I forgot, I just... I-
XANDER
It's okay, I understand... and Kennedy was great as well.
He looks at KENNEDY, and she looks down and then she looks up at WILLOW, but WILLOW turns away.
There's an odd silence.
DAWN walks in again, with KARA's neighbour.
KARA's NEIGHBOUR
Ohh, my puppies.
She walks to them and the puppies sprint at her, all happy. She turns to DAWN, LUX and KARA.
KARA's NEIGHBOUR
How can I ever thank you? We were so worried, not to mention their future owners. Oh my precious.
KARA
Their what?
KARA's NEIGHBOUR
I can't afford to keep all 6 of them. I'll have to sell them, but don't worry, they're all nice people. I've already sold three, they're really sweet people.
BUFFY
How about this one?
BUFFY holds up the puppy that has been laying on her lap, the whole time.
KARA's NEIGHBOUR
No, that one I haven't.
BUFFY picks the puppy up in her arms and puts her head to the puppies, then gives her sweetest look to XANDER.
XANDER
Oh dear god.
KARA's NEIGHBOUR
You know what, it's really late, I think I should be going, why don't you think it over tonight and come by my house tomorrow, then we can have a talk about it.
BUFFY
Sounds like a fair deal.
KARA's NEIGHBOUR
Now, if you girls could all help me, by carrying them to the car... I could also give you a ride home if you want to.
KARA
Sure.
KARA, DAWN and LUX all pick two puppies and then follow KARA's NEIGHBOUR down the stairs.
WILLOW
I should go too.
BUFFY gets up
Hate to sound rude, but yeah you should, it's getting late.
WILLOW stands up and walks to the stairs. BUFFY follows her, but stops at the top, she looks at KENNEDY, who hasn't gotten up yet. KENNEDY looks at XANDER.
XANDER
I'll prepare the guest room.

GILES

XANDER holds her.
GILES yelling

She smiles faintly, XANDER continues eating and Buffy finishes her drink, then she cleans up and leaves.

2 INT. KARA'S ROOM - DAY
CAMERA ON: DAWN, LUX and KARA are sitting on KARA's bed and talking. On the floor there are glasses with coke, a bowl with popcorn and another one with sweets. LUX is reading a magazine.
KARA
One minute they were there and the second they were gone
LUX
Who was gone??
KARA
Puppies! You'd know that if you were listening to me for the last 5 minutes instead of attacking popcorn
LUX
Hey!!
DAWN laughing
Lux, it really looked that way.
They look at each other and all start to laugh
KARA
Okay, but this is serious. Five adorable puppies and I've seen and hugged them, are missing.
LUX
And what can we do about it?
KARA
We should investigate! I mean, that's what we do right, or you?
DAWN
Yeah, but we only handle supernatural case, the rest is taken care of by the police.
LUX browsing through a magazine.

CAMERA ON: A blue stained-glass window at the end of the chapel. PAN AWAY, on the first row, we see the back of a caped person, sitting there with a bowed head. RAPIDLY PAN AWAY to reveal BUFFY at the end of the isle. The caped man, MERCUTIO, turns around.
MERCUTIO
It's not Wednesday and yet you're here... to what do I owe the honor?
BUFFY starts walking in his direction.
BUFFY
No reason in particular.
MERCUTIO
Doesn't have anything to do with... what's his name, that watcher, who was in town. Heard he left in quite a hurry last night.
She has now reached the first row and sits down next to him.
BUFFY
... ... ... Maybe.
MERCUTIO

BUFFY sighs. She looks up at him.
BUFFY
Cause... I have nowhere else to go.
CUT TO:
4 INT. WILLOW AND KENNEDY's DORMROOM - DAY
CAMERA ON: The door, it opens, WILLOW walks in. She has just come from the shower.
PAN AROUND: To see KENNEDY with her back turned to the CAMERA, putting on a t-shirt.
WILLOW
Good morning.
KENNEDY
Hey! Got any plans for today? Are we gonna slay tonight, or stay with Buffy?
WILLOW
We're gonna slay. She'll be fine, just give her some time.
KENNEDY
I hope so, god, I can't believe Giles would do that. I don't know him as much as you do off course, but still, can you understand it?
WILLOW
Though I feel sorry for Buffy too, I can see why Giles did it.
KENNEDY gives her a look

I can't say I completely agree with what he did, but I don't really disagree either.
KENNEDY shocked

CAMERA ON: LUX, DAWN, KARA searching through the bushes and flowers.

Do we have to do this for much longer; my back is starting to hurt?
KARA sighs
I told you, we should've taped her mouth of, she just can't stop complaining.
LUX
It's your fault; I shouldn't be ploughing through the earth like this, look at my nails.
LUX holds up her dirty hands.
DAWN sighs

CAMERA ON: The same young man, with a packed bag, hugging his mother and father, and then walking out.

11 EXT. BOOT CAMP - DAY
CAMERA ON: The group of young men, walking in line out of the bus. MERCUTIO (his younger self) walks in the line, he looks to the right.
CUT TO: A well dressed man, standing in the shadows of a barrack; he's talking to some officers. He looks up to the CAMERA, which is about 30ft away.
CUT TO: MERCUTIO, in slow motion, walking, still look at his right.
CUT TO: The well dressed men, looking to the CAMERA which moves to the side. Then he adverts his eyes, back to the officers.
CUT TO: MERCUTIO looking back in front of him. The line passes an officer, we stop at him.
OFFICER

12 INT. DORM ROOM - DAY
CAMERA ON: A messy room, with shut windows, candle-lit. There's a knock on the door. A goth-girl (JUDY) comes into the frame and walks to the door, she opens it.
CUT TO: DAWN, KARA, and LUX standing in front of her in the door opening.
DAWN
Hi!
CUT TO: JUDY
JUDY
Dawn? What brings you hear without Willow?
CUT TO: DAWN
DAWN
Leading an unofficial Scooby-Investigation, can we come in?
CUT TO: JUDY
JUDY
Sure.
PAN OUT as they walk into the room, they close the door behind them. They sit down on some pillows.
DAWN
Alright, this is Kara, and this is Lux. Lux and Kara this is Frances Gumm.
JUDY
Just call me Judy. So, what's the problem?
DAWN
A litter of puppies was stolen. We have reasons to believe that the perpetrator may have bought a large party of frankbaum-herbs... from you.
JUDY gives her a suspicious look.
DAWN
Don't worry; we're not accusing you of being an accomplice.
JUDY
There was a guy... First time customer. Didn't leave me a name.
DAWN
Can you give a description?
JUDY
Novice to magic. He was about 6 feet tall, a bit on the chubby side, I'd say about 45 years old. Starting to loose hair. ... I've seen him before though, works at the home-improvement store, down at tamerlane.
DAWN smirks

JUDY
No problem, just... no word, that I told you, I might lose business and college is expensive enough as it is.
DAWN nods

DAWN, LUX and KARA walk out; JUDY closes the door behind them.

13 INT. BOOT CAMP BARAK - NIGHT
CAMERA ON: The sleeping room, packed with recruits. All light are off.
MERCUTIO (V.O.)
Until that one night, everything was as normal as can be expected from a boot camp.
The dim lights are turned on. In walk two officers (CAPTAIN and MAJOR) and the well dressed man (VALENTINO).
CAPTAIN (shouting)

(subt.: All you worms get out of bed right now!)
All young men, get out of bed and line up in front of the CAPTAIN. He marches by them, inspecting them.
CAPTAIN

(subt.: Some of you men are going to get the chance of a life time tonight.)
CAPTAIN

The CAPTAIN turns to VALENTINO, he nods at him. VALENTINO looks around them.
CUT TO: MERCUTIO, he's looking straight at the CAMERA
CUT TO: VALENTINO, also looking straight at the CAMERA, he smirks. PAN OUT: The CAPTIAN walks to MERCUTIO and pushes him out of the line. MERCUTIO is a little hesitant.
CAPTAIN

MERCUTIO sighs and walks off in the direction the CAPTAIN is pointing in.

As MERCUTIO exits, we see the CAPTAIN selecting another man.

14 INT. MONESTARY CHAPPEL - DAY
CAMERA ON: BUFFY and MERCUTIO sitting there on the front row.
BUFFY
You got offered a chance to save your life, and you took it. Sort of... normal?
MERCUTIO
I'm sorry, but I'm picking a corpse over the freak I am now any time.
BUFFY

15 EXT. CASTLE - NIGHT
CAMERA ON: An old castle somewhere in the hills, from above, it's guarded by German soldiers. It's raining out side.
CUT TO:
16 INT. CASTLE ENTRY HALL - NIGHT
CAMERA ON: The large oak front door, it opens, outside it's raining and storming. A group of about 15 Italian men walk in, guarded by German and Italian soldiers. CAMERA TURNS AROUND: To a DOCTOR in a white overcoat.
DOCTOR smirking

I have no idea, what he said, I didn't speak one word German, but when I heard his voice, I instantly knew that I had to get out of there as soon as possible.
The guards push the Italian men forward.

17 NT. CASTLE DUNGEON - NIGHT
CAMERA ON: A group of five Italian men are locked up in a cell together. Amongst them is MERCUTIO.
ITALIAN #1

ITALIAN #2

The door of the cell opens, the DOCTOR is there with two German SOLDIERS, they walk toward ITALIAN #4 and pick him up and take him with, he tries to stop them and screams, but it doesn't help. The door gets locked again.
FADE TO:
18 EXT. CAMPUS PLAZA - DAY
CAMERA ON: LUX, DAWN and KARA walking over the plaza.
LUX
So what do we do now?
DAWN
I think we should just go by the store, check up on the suspect. Then follow him home afterwards.
KARA
I think it would be easier to go back to my house, one of my neighbours, from a couple of houses up the block works at the home improvement store.
LUX and DAWN both stare at KARA
DAWN
So all along it was just someone from the neighbourhood.
KARA
I just never though of him as a suspect, he's my neighbour.
LUX
That doesn't matter Charles Manson was also someone's neighbour.
DAWN
Good point...Now we should have a look at his house. Kara lead us.
CUT TO:
19 INT. SUMMER's RESIDENCE LIVING ROOM - EVENING
CAMERA ON: The door to the staircase. It's getting dark outside, the door opens XANDER walks in. He stands still for a second. CAMERA TURNS AROUN: KENNEDY is sitting on the couch, we can see she has been crying. She turns to him and gets up.
KENNEDY
It's Willow.
She starts to cry again. CAMERA TURNS BACK TO XANDER, he puts his case on the ground, and walks up to her, he hugs and holds her.
XANDER
It's okay sweetie, hush hush now.
A pause.
He let's go of her. Just relax, have a seat, I'll get you a glass of water. KENNEDY sits down. We can hear XANDER walking to the kitchen and making a glass of water. He comes back, and sits down next to her. He gives her the glass. She sips at it.
XANDER
So, what happened?
KENNEDY sad
It's Willow, we... we had a fight. She hates me now.
XANDER
I'm sure it'll blow over, before you know it, all good couples fight.
KENNEDY sad
I know, but this... it's worse. She was being so mean... I was being so mean.
KENNEDY starts to cry again. XANDER puts her glass on the table and holds her again.
FADE TO:
20 INT. CASTLE DUNGEON - NIGHT
CAMERA ON: MERCUTIO being pulled out of the dungeon by two German guards.
GUARD 1
Hast oben, Sie italienisches Schwein!
He pushes MERCUTIO on.
MERCUTIO (V.O.)
And finally, I was taken with from the cell, after having to listen to the screams of the others for weeks.
CUT TO:
21 INT. CASTLE DUNGEON-LAB - NIGHT
CAMERA ON: A table is in the middle of the room, around it, all sort of medical equipment and spell books. The DOCTOR walks up to MERCUTIO and inspects him.
DOCTOR smirking

He turns serious now.
DOCTOR to the guards.

The guards throw MERCUTIO on the table, and as they hold him down, some other guards tied him down to it.
CUT TO: The DOCTOR from MERCUTIO's point of view. He walks to him with a thick needle.
DOCTOR
Lassen Sie jetzt Ihre Wiedergeburt beginnen.
He sticks the needle into MERCUTIO. And the CAMERA begins to spin around, moving in shocks. MERCUTIO begin screaming. Colors fade. And light flashes. This all will continue in the next few scenes.
CUT TO:
22 INT. CASTLE DUNGEON-LAB - NIGHT
CAMERA ON: The DOCTOR bowed over MERCUTIO's stomach, blood all over his clothes. Someone off screen hands him over a scalpel.
CUT TO:
23 INT. CASTLE DUNGEON-LAB - NIGHT
CAMERA ON: Another DOCTOR with blood over his clothes cutting very near to the CAMERA. We see someone moving back and forth in the back, we hear sawing noises.
CUT TO:
24 INT. CASTLE DUNGEON-LAB - NIGHT
CAMERA ON: Several DOCTORs are now bowed over MERCUTIO's stomach, one of them pulls something out. MERCUTIO screams even harder as we see the DOCTOR put his liver on a plate and give it to someone off screen.
CUT TO:
25 INT. CASTLE DUNGEON - NIGHT
The CAMERA is back to normal and the screaming has stopped now. CAMERA ON: MERCUTIO in the back of the dungeon curled up in a corner.
MERCUTIO (V.O.)
And then, there was nothing but pain. I was never more aware of my body then at that time. Every small bit of my body was another layer of hell itself. That was how much pain there was... ... it even made the time disappear. Hours, days, weeks, months, years, centuries I sat there in that corner, until...
We hear the lock getting opened. The DOCTOR, VALENTINO, a COLONEL and a GUARD walk in.
DOCTOR
Dort ist er, das beste Probestück bis jetzt.
COLONEL
Er schaut zu mir schwach. Betrachten Sie ihn, ein anderes wertloses Experiment.
DOCTOR
Er ist nicht, er ist stärker dann irgendwelche von den anderen. Ich denke, daß dieses das erste sein konnte, zum wirklich zu leben.
COLONEL
Zuerst sehe ich, dann ich glaube. Schutz, erhält ihn auf seinen Füßen.
DOCTOR
Ich würde das nicht-
VALENTINO signals him to be quiet. The GUARD walks to MERCUTIO, to get him on his feet.
MERCUTIO (V.O.)
And then... all of a sudden, all the hurting, all the pain... it stopped.
When the GUARD reaches MERCUTIO, he jumps up at him, sinks his fangs in the GUARD's throat and rips it open. Blood splashes over his face and he drops the dead body to the ground.
FADE TO BLACK
ACT IV
EXT. EDMONSVILLE DOCKS - NIGHT
CAMERA ON: A red carpet leading to the gala opening of the new docks. A lot of people are standing in line for the entrance.
CUT TO: The CLERK at the entrance checking people for invitations.
CLERK
Goodnight sire, invitations please?
CUT TO: XANDER in tuxedo with his best looking eye patch. He hands the CLERK over his invitation.
CUT TO: CLERK
CLERK
Ah mister Harris and Mrs. Summers.
CUT TO: XANDER
XANDER
Actually, I will be accompanied by mrs. Suarez tonight, I hope that's not a problem.
CUT TO: CLERK
CLERK
Certainly not sir, your hat and coat.

XANDER
Ken?
KENNEDY walks back to him, she was previously a bit out of line.
XANDER
You're coat.
XANDER hands his and KENNEDY's coat over to the CLERK. The walk on inside.
CUT TO:
26 INT. CASTLE DUNGEON - NIGHT
CAMERA ON: MERCUTIO, dropping the body of the GUARD. The DOCTOR and VALENTINO look at him satisfied. The COLONEL looks at him in terror.
COLONEL amazed
Was ist es? Doktor, was haben Sie getan?... Sie haben ein Monster hergestellt.
DOCTOR

The COLONEL takes a step in MERCUTIO's direction, who hisses instantly. The COLONEL takes a step back.
COLONEL amazed

They walk out, the MAYOR stops in the doorway.
COLONEL
Sollen wir nicht den Körper erhalten?
VALENTINO shakes his head. The others walk out, VALENTINO holds the door opens after him and turns to MERCUTIO.
VALENTINO
Bon appetite!
(subt.: Enjoy your meal!)
CUT TO: MERCUTIO standing in front of the body, we hear the door getting closed. He looks at the body and is about to throw himself at it.
CUT TO:
27 EXT. PUPPYNAPPER's GARDEN - NIGHT
CAMERA ON: KARA, DAWN and LUX hiding in the bushes. We can see lights in the house are on.
KARA
He's home, what do we do now?
DAWN
I don't know, we could call the police-
LUX
What? They'd never buy our story, besides, we'd miss all the fun.
DAWN
*Or* you could stop interrupting me and let me review all our possibilities. We could call Willow, I mean, we don't know how strong this guy is.
KARA
Plus, we're not even sure, whether he is the one.
We hear dog-howls. Pup-howls actually.
The girls crawl over to a basement window. We can see a bunch of puppies in a small cage. An altar is set up.
LUX
Oh, poor dears, we're coming to save you, don't worry.
DAWN gets her cell phone out of her pocket.
A pause.
DAWN (On the phone)
Hi, it's Dawn. We need your help. We've tracked down a case of abducted puppies, we found them, but they're being held by a warlock. We're not sure whether we can take him, so could you please get here as soon as possible? ... ... ... Oh, right, the address is uhm, well you know where Kara lives, right? ... ... ... Yeah, she lives on number 12 and he lives on number 21. ... ... ... Ok, see you in 15, bye!
She turns to the others.
DAWN
She'll be here in-
She shuts up, when the lights in the basement get turned on. A guy, BILLY, fitting JUDY's description comes in. He walks up to the puppies.
BILLY
Don't worry, all will be over soon.
He puts a large knife down on the altar. Then turns to the puppies again.
I'm really sorry I have to do this, I promise, you won't feel a thing. I'll just be two minutes, I have to ... you know, nature calling.... we will start right away, when I get back, I promise.
He walks out.
KARA and LUX turn to DAWN.
CUT TO:
28 INT. GALA PARTY - NIGHT
CAMERA ON: KENNEDY standing by XANDER, a bit annoyed. XANDER is talking to some other business men, amongst whom the MAYOR and his wife.
XANDER
Absolutely, and besides don't forget it's asset for the local economy.
MAYOR
You're absolutely right there. Local economy is always very important. So whenever a community structure is up for renovation or construction, you can be expecting our call.
All the men laugh. Then music starts to play.
MAYOR
Oh, excuse me, I have to please the misses with a dance now.
The men split up. XANDER turns to
XANDER
Yes, well I will certainly do that, all right.
He shakes the hand of one of the men.
XANDER
Yes, see you.
He turns to KENNEDY.
XANDER
Sorry, business.
KENNEDY
No problem... I was just thinking about what went down this morning.
XANDER
Maybe you should stop doing that for a few minutes?
KENNEDY sad

KENNEDY looks up at him, a bit uncertain

They start to dance slowly. '' is played. PAN UP on the whole room cramped with dancing couples, at the one end, is a stage. PAN IN: On the stage, the performance is by Norah Jones, she plays the song 'Come Away with Me'.
FADE: XANDER and KENNEDY. She has put her head on his chest and closed her eyes. They don't say a word throughout the song.
FADE TO: Norah, singing.
FADE TO: The whole room, full of people dancing.
We continue to fade through these, from different angles, until the song is over. Nothing else happens.

29 INT. CASTLE DUNGEON – NIGHT
CAMERA ON: MERCUTIO whips the last few drops of blood from his face and licks it off his hand. Stands there for a moment, smirks, suddenly starts running on the doors. He breaks through them without any real difficulty. He runs through a small passage. Which leads to.

30 INT. CASTLE DUNGEON GUARD ROOM - NIGHT
CAMERA ON: Two GUARDS blocking MERCUTIO's way. MERCUTIO hits GUARD #1 in the face. He falls down. GUARD #2 grabs for his pistol, but MERCUTIO reaches him in time, he sinks his teeth into GUARD #2's neck. The GUARD drops his pistol. Then GUARD #1 smashes him in the back. MERCUTIO drops to the ground. He turns around and he looks afraid.
CUT TO: GUARD #1 from MERCUTIO's point of view. He's holding a pistol to his head.
GUARD #1
Ich sehe Sie in der Hölle, Monster.
There's a loud bang.

31 INT. CASTLE DUNGEON GUARD ROOM - NIGHT (cont'd)
CAMERA ON: The GUARD walks to the telephone. He picks it up. We can see a figure rising behind him.
GUARD
Ja habe ich eine Dringlich-
MERCUTIO rips the phone from his hand, the line snaps. He holds his hand to the GUARD's mouth. The GUARD looks scared. MERCUTIO twists his neck around, and the GUARD drops down to the ground dead. MERCUTIO walks off.
CUT TO:
32 INT. CASTLE ENTRY HALL - NIGHT
CAMERA ON: MERCUTIO enters the hall and makes his way to the oak door.
VALENTINO (O.S.)
Andare dovunque?
(subt.: Going anywhere?)
MERCUTIO turns around. Above him at the top of the stairs VALENTINO is standing. He jumps to the side and lands on the ground, a few feet away from MERCUTIO between him and the door.
VALENTINO
Non avete desiderato morire sulla parte anteriore. I ammesso che il desiderio per voi, ora esso è la vostra girata per pagarla indietro...
(subt.: You didn't want to die on the front. I granted that wish for you, now it's your turn to pay me back...)
MERCUTIO takes a step in the right, and so does VALENTINO. MERCUTIO runs off to the left side, but VALENTINO slides to the left without moving. They're now face to face.
VALENTINO
Credo che debba spiegare tutto il questo a voi il senso duro.
(subt.: I believe I have to explain all of this to you the hard way.)
MERCUTIO shows his fangs.
Non desiderate ottenere nel mio senso, voi non avete idea, che cosa avete generato con me.
(subt.: You don't want to get in my way, you have no idea, what you've created with me.)
VALENTINO merely grins.
MERCUTIO swings with his right, but VALENTINO dodges. MERCUTIO continuously swings his left then right at VALENTINO, but he dodges it all. MERCUTIO takes a step back, seemingly to give up. Then he jumps at VALENTINO, but instead of throwing him to the ground. VALENTINO's body turns to blood where MERCUTIO touches him, and MERCUTIO falls right through. Then VALENTINO turns solid again.
MERCUTIO looks up at him.
... voi siete un monster?
(subt.: You... you're a monster as well?)
VALENTINO mocking
Non si aduli confrontandoli a me.
(subt.: Don't flatter yourself by comparing you to me.)
MERCUTIO gets up, he stands with his legs and arms spread, he starts screaming. VALENTINO looks up at him, amused. Suddenly we hear the sounds of bats approaching. Through door (except the front door) and from the stairs, bats come flying in to MERCUTIO. The fly around the room. MERCUTIO stops screaming and looks at VALENTINO enraged, he points at him, and all the bats now throw themselves at VALENTINO. VALENTINO once again merely smirks. When the first bat is about to hit him, he sticks his fist up. All bats hang still, nothing moves, there's no sound. CAMERA makes a quick circle around VALENTINO then.
CUT TO: MERCUTIO's face, he looks unsure. PAN TO: VALENTINO, he quickly moves his hand down, and all the bats drop from the air to the ground, all dead. MERCUTIO looks down at the dead bats by his feet, then up at VALENTINO, in distress.
VALENTINO
Potete avere più trucchi sul vostro manicotto allora il vampire medio, ma siete ancora soltanto umani e siete niente di confrontato al mio genere.
(subt.: You may have more tricks up your sleeve then the average vampire, but you're still only human, and you're nothing compared to my kind.)
Then the alarms go off. Sirens sounds and red lights flash. SOLDIERS come storming into the room from upstairs, they stop for a second at the sight of the dead bats, but then see VALENTINO and walk on and disappear through the front door, the COLONEL follows them, but stops near VALENTINO.
COLONEL
Es ist der Unsterbliche.
VALENTINO furious
Was? Er ist hier?... Töten Sie ihn, an allen Kosten.
The COLONEL walks off and leaves through the front door, VALENTINO turns to MERCUTIO, he looks disturbed, but friendly.
VALENTINO
Denominilo fortuna o destino sconsigliabile, ma sembra, che sarete uscire di qui stasera.
(subt.: Call it dumb luck or fate, but it seems, that you'll be getting out of here tonight.)
MERCUTIO looking suspicious.
Then there's a loud bang, an explosion outside.
VALENTINO angry again
Ed a meno che il ritrovamento un senso fuoriuscire *lui*, esso sia in una bara.
(subt.: And unless find a way to escape *him*, it will be in a coffin.)
VALENTINO turns around and walks off, into the castle. MERCUTIO turns to the oak door, and leaves through it.
CUT TO:
33 INT. GALA PARTY - NIGHT
CAMERA ON: XANDER standing by some other business men now, the songs over.
XANDER
Yes, the technique is very important. I believe that also supervision is crucial. I always want to know what's exactly going on and if there are any problems.
HUGH (one of the business men)
My company might be willing to built here a new warehouse.
XANDER's eyes drift off. CAMERA TURNS to KENNEDY sitting by the bar having a drink, she's looking over the room, her eyes meet XANDER's. CAMERA TURNS TO: XANDER again, he turns back to the businessmen.
If you are interested please give me a call next week
XANDER
Off course.
HUGH hands XANDER his card. As XANDER puts it in his inner pocket, he casts an eye on KENNEDY again, who quickly turns back to her drink.
HUGH
Now if you excuse me I need to take my wife home.
He shakes hands with the other men. And as he leave, he turns to XANDER.
HUGH
Oh and take a word of advice from someone, who's in his fourth marriage. It's never a good idea to leave such a beautiful young girl alone for too long.
And he gestures at KENNEDY.
XANDER
Certainly...
The other businessmen laugh and the old grey haired MAN #1 joins his 20-somewhat year old blonde wife to the exit. XANDER turns to the other businessmen.
XANDER
If you'll excuse me, I think I'll be going too now.
MAN #2
Ah, Hugh got under your skin then.
XANDER
Sort off.
The others laugh and XANDER leaves. He looks up to the bar and stares straight into KENNEDY's eyes, which upsets her, she turns red. A waiter passes XANDER and their contact breaks. When the waiter has passed, KENNEDY has turned back. XANDER makes his way through the people and then joins her at the bar.
XANDER
I've talked to all people I needed to talk to... We can go home if you want to?
KENNEDY looks up at him and smiles faintly.
KENNEDY
Take me home.
CUT TO:
34 EXT. CASTLE - NIGHT
CAMERA ON: MERCUTIO coming through the big oak door. There's a lot of fire in the yard. German's are running through the screen and we can hear a lot of gunfire. We can see the German soldiers are up on the walls shooting at something outside. Suddenly an arrow hits the door, right next to where MERCUTIO is standing. Then he starts to run. He runs to the nearest by wall. In the background we can see a fireball hitting the wall, and some Germans fall off. MERCUTIO runs up the stairs. At the top of the stairs he bumps into a SOLDIER.
SOLDIER angry
Uhr heraus, wo Sie gehen!
The SOLDIER turns around, but an arrow hits him. He drops to the ground. PAN IN along the wall on a female warrior, with long blonde hair, standing by with her bow. She looks at the CAMERA. Then she picks up another arrow and loads her bow.
CUT TO: MERCUTIO seeing this and quickly turn to running, then he ducks, an arrow passes him and he runs on. CAMERA TURNS around, to reveal the battlefield. The walls are breached and more people with arrows are on the walls fighting the Germans. Even though they are outnumbered and the Germans have guns, they're on the winning hand. There's a lot of fire. Outside we see a carriage, it is opened by one of the arrowed men. A dark mysterious figure steps out of it.
MERCUTIO (V.O.)
Der Unsterbliche... the Immortal.
CUT TO:
35 EXT. CASTLE WALL - NIGHT
CAMERA ON: MERCUTIO standing on the wall of the castle on the back, he's overlooking a cliff. A figure moves behind him, MERCUTIO turns around, it's VALENTINO.
VALENTINO
Che cosa ora? Se non fate il salto, siete guasti per sicuro, ma se...
(subt.: What to do now? If you don't make the jump, you're dead for sure, but if you do...)
MERCUTIO looks down.
CUT TO: The view of the cliff, from the top.
CUT BACK TO: MERCUTIO, he turns to VALENTINO again.
VALENTINO
Nonlo guardi, là è soltanto unidirezionale scoprire.
(subt.: Don't look at me, there's only one way to find out.)
He grins. MERCUTIO, looks back to the cliff, self assured.
ANGLE ON: The castle from half way the cliff, we see MERCUTIO taking a few steps back, then running forward and making the jump.
ANGLE ON: VALENTINO, from a few feet in the cliff. He stands there on the wall, slowly raising his hands, and then suddenly quickly. There's an explosion. Fire bashes through all the windows. Even the wall VALENTINO is standing on seems to be on fire, but he just stands there with his hands raised. He slowly lowers them and then walks to the cliff and jumps off it.
CUT TO:
36 EXT. PUPPYNAPPER's GARDEN – NIGHT
CAMERA ON: KARA, DAWN and LUX's face, they're all lying flat on their belly to look throw the basement window.
KARA
Two minutes? Willow won't be here on time and these cute puppies gonna...
DAWN
No, we'll save them. You heard Judy he's a novice and he's outnumbered.
LUX
So... what's the plan??
DAWN
We go into, save puppies and get out of there?
KARA
I like it. Come on, we don't have much time left
CUT TO:
37 INT. BILLY's BASEMENT - NIGHT
CAMERA ON: KARA coming through the window, stepping onto a chair by the wall and then onto the floor. LUX does the same. KARA, LUX and DAWN get into the basement, they pick up the basket with puppies and start to go into window's direction. Suddenly, as DAWN is still standing on the chair, the door swings open and BILLY steps in.
BILLY
What the?
DAWN spins her chair around and takes on fighting pose. So do KARA and LUX, they all scream. BILLY storms at them. KARA and LUX jump to the sides and DAWN kicks up the chair, which hits BILLY. KARA hits him in the back and LUX tackles him. He falls down flat on his stomach.
DAWN
Lux find a rope or something to tie him.
CUT TO:
38 INT. BILLY's BASEMENT - NIGHT
CAMERA ON: Billie lying unconscious on a floor tied like a ham. LUX and KARA playing with the puppies and DAWN is examining the basement. He slowly comes round.
BILLY
Girls, unfasten me. I'm not going to hurt you.
KARA
Coming from a man who wanted to kill these adorable puppies?
BILLY
You don't understand.. I had to do it
WILLOW coming through the door
I just can't picture why... Nice job, after all you didn't need my help
DAWN
You're finally here! Sorry, but we couldn't have waited any longer. Sort of on a deadline here.
BILLY
Miss?? Could you help me?? These girls don't want to free me.
WILLOW
Neither do I... You started talking, so continue.
BILLY
It's rather embarrassing
LUX
I bet. Anything connected with increasing potency is.
DAWN, KARA and WILLOW stare at her
LUX
What?
KARA
Never mind. Couldn't you have picked a spell not involving animal sacrifice??
BILLY
I love animals. I simply wanted... I wanted..
He breaks down.
I wanted to get Meg back
DAWN
Meg?
BILLY
My wife. She left me for a younger man because I couldn't..
WILLOW a bit baffled
I don't think we have to get in *such* a detail. It might not be appropriate for everyone here
DAWN and KARA
Hey!
BILLY
I couldn't think of another solution. You don't understand, she's the love of my life...
DAWN
I'm sure that there are... uhmm... therapies...
WILLOW
Listen. Magic is not the answer for everything, trust me, I *know*. I'm sure I'll be able to help you without the need of killing puppies.
BILLY stops sobbing

WILLOW
Yes. Dawn untie him. I'm sure he won't try anything stupid. You take the puppies home, I'll work on him.
DAWN gives her a look
WILLOW
You know what I mean.
CUT TO:
39 INT. SUMMER's RESIDENCE – NIGHT
CAMERA ON: KARA, LUX and DAWN playing with the puppies. WILLOW is in the kitchen and one of the puppies is laying on BUFFY's lap. She's petting it.
DAWN
-that's how it all happened... Buffy are you even listening to me??
BUFFY playing with the black puppy
Yes. Warlock. Puppies. Impotence
WILLOW comes back from the kitchen and puts down a bowl with water for the puppies.
WILLOW
After all you were listening. I think Kara's neighbour should be soon here to pick them up
DAWN, KARA, LUX and BUFFY all get a bit sad after that
DAWN
I can hear a car. It might be him.
But instead of the bell they hear a lock being opened. We hear footsteps on the stairs. It's XANDER and KENNEDY.
XANDER looks surprised
Hi?
KENNEDY carefully avoids WILLOW and sits down far away from her.
DAWN
We solved a case of pupnapping... breeder should be here any minute now to pick them up.
The bell rings.
DAWN
I'll get that.
DAWN walks off downstairs to open the door.
BUFFY turns to XANDER
I'm really sorry I forgot, I just... I-
XANDER
It's okay, I understand... and Kennedy was great as well.
He looks at KENNEDY, and she looks down and then she looks up at WILLOW, but WILLOW turns away.
There's an odd silence.
DAWN walks in again, with KARA's neighbour.
KARA's NEIGHBOUR
Ohh, my puppies.
She walks to them and the puppies sprint at her, all happy. She turns to DAWN, LUX and KARA.
KARA's NEIGHBOUR
How can I ever thank you? We were so worried, not to mention their future owners. Oh my precious.
KARA
Their what?
KARA's NEIGHBOUR
I can't afford to keep all 6 of them. I'll have to sell them, but don't worry, they're all nice people. I've already sold three, they're really sweet people.
BUFFY
How about this one?
BUFFY holds up the puppy that has been laying on her lap, the whole time.
KARA's NEIGHBOUR
No, that one I haven't.
BUFFY picks the puppy up in her arms and puts her head to the puppies, then gives her sweetest look to XANDER.
XANDER
Oh dear god.
KARA's NEIGHBOUR
You know what, it's really late, I think I should be going, why don't you think it over tonight and come by my house tomorrow, then we can have a talk about it.
BUFFY
Sounds like a fair deal.
KARA's NEIGHBOUR
Now, if you girls could all help me, by carrying them to the car... I could also give you a ride home if you want to.
KARA
Sure.
KARA, DAWN and LUX all pick two puppies and then follow KARA's NEIGHBOUR down the stairs.
WILLOW
I should go too.
BUFFY gets up
Hate to sound rude, but yeah you should, it's getting late.
WILLOW stands up and walks to the stairs. BUFFY follows her, but stops at the top, she looks at KENNEDY, who hasn't gotten up yet. KENNEDY looks at XANDER.
XANDER
I'll prepare the guest room.
