Sarah Michelle Gellar, who reprises the role of Daphne in the upcoming Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed, told SCI FI Wire that she's acting with new husband Freddie Prinze Jr. (Fred), but doesn't take the role home at night. "We often play cartoon at home, yes," she joked during an interview on the film's Vancouver, B.C., set last summer. "No, it's pretty easy. I wouldn't recommend it. I think working with your partner is incredibly difficult, no matter what industry you're in, whether you're both writers for a similar magazine or whatever job you are."

It makes it easier that Gellar is working on another Scooby movie, she added. "It's difficult to live with someone and come to work. And I wouldn't recommend it as actors, except in a situation like this," she said. "You're doing a big action, fun, cartoon movie. It's not serious. ... I'm not at home at night going, 'How ever will I say my one line tomorrow?' It's a little bit easier and freer, so it's a very positive experience, but I don't think you'll ever be seeing the big drama story between us."

In the sequel to 2002's hit film, based on the long-running animated TV series, the Mystery Inc. gang confronts a masked villain who is plotting to take over Coolsville with a machine that recreates classic foes, like the Pterodactyl Ghost, the Black Knight Ghost and others. The Scooby gang, including Velma (Linda Cardellini) and Shaggy (Matthew Lillard), is joined by guest stars Seth Green and Alicia Silverstone.

Gellar, star of TV's Buffy the Vampire Slayer, said it was fun to share the stage again with former Buffy co-star Green. "It's great," she said. "If I had my druthers I'd work with Seth on every project. ... He's an amazing comedian, he's an incredibly gifted comedian, but he's also a really giving comedian. A lot of times when you get people that are so incredibly innately funny, it's about them. They're funny. And what Seth does is tries to make everything funny. It's not just him. He'll be the first one to come to you and say, 'I have this great idea for this line. And you should do this in this part.'" Scooby-Doo 2 opens March 26.

An On-Set Visit with Sarah Michelle Gellar

We chat with Daphne on the set of Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed.

March 19, 2004 - Last summer Warner Brothers invited IGN FilmForce and a few other websites to the set of Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed. In the sequel, Scooby and his friends are investigating a masked villain who’s trying to take over the Mystery, Inc. gang’s home town of Coolsville. While the villain somehow resurrects some of the gang’s old nemeses, including The Black Knight Ghost, The Pterodactyl Ghost, and The 10,000 Volt Ghost, the gang meets relentless reporter Heather Jasper-Howe (Alicia Silverstone), museum curator Patrick Wisely (Seth Green), and re-visits the villain from their first case, Old Man Wickles (Peter Boyle).

On a hot and sunny day in Vancouver, we were shown around various sets for the film, including the Coolsville Museum, which had an exhibit dedicated to the Mystery, Inc. gang complete with statues of some of their past foes; the Wickles mansion, which featured a pretty impressive statue of Peter Boyle as Wickles, standing about 20 feet high; the Mystery, Inc. headquarters, which featured a lab and living area; the Old Tyme Mining Towne, where the gang’s investigation leads them into one of the mines; and an underground laboratory and "monster hive" belonging to the movie’s villain. One could tell that a lot of attention to detail was paid in the creation of each set - from descriptive nameplates on each statue in the museum describing the Scooby-Doo episode the villain is from, to the look of the Wickles mansion, which seemed like it was straight out of one of the cartoons.

After touring the sets, we were able to sit down with a few members of the Scooby-Doo 2 cast and crew. Sarah Michelle Gellar was kind enough to talk to us about her experiences making the Scooby-Doo films, working with the new cast members, and more.

Q: In Scooby-Doo, Daphne wasn’t comfortable with who she was at the beginning of the movie, but became more comfortable in the end. Where does she go this time?

SARAH MICHELLE GELLAR: I think the first story sort of revolved around Daphne finding her place. It’s that same in-between that I think a lot of teenagers and young adults find, which is "Where do I fit in, what’s my place? What’s my purpose, what am I good at?" Because, everything to her was, she was the pretty one, she never really fit in. And this one is more about public image... In the beginning you find Daphne and ... she is confident, because she’s deriving her strength from what other people think - the press and the fans - and it’s all about public image. What she soon realizes is that the public image can change, it’s fickle, and that you have to find your strength from within before you worry about how everyone else perceives you.

Q: Is it easier doing Daphne now on the second film?

GELLAR: This first one was difficult because I was commuting between Australia and Los Angeles, so from the get-go the sequel was easier. Everything about a sequel is easier. I remember when I was in Scream 2, and our whole topic at the beginning of the movie was how sequels suck, and how sequels are never better than the first one. I think what we’re seeing is, the trend is moving away from that. What’s happening, especially with movies based on previous material, you spend the first 45 minutes to an hour setting everything up. Whether it’s Scooby or X-Men, or any of these movies, Spider-Man, there’s so much to get to the place where you think most people know the story, but you just don’t know. I think what’s happening with sequels, again, specifically in this genre of material based on previous material, now the second one you jump right in. You know where your story is, it’s less complicated. I think also, we weren’t also exactly sure what our niche was the first time. Were we a movie for kids? Were we going to be a little more esoteric and go for the little bit more of an older, more satirical audience? We shot everything both ways, and it was really put together in the edit, and really made for a family film. Now, coming in, you know we’re coming in to make a family film, we know our characters, the story is set, and it makes it much easier to just jump in to a story ... As a cast, it’s much easier, because all those kinks from a first movie are worked out. Everyone’s working patterns are so easy, you just sort of come in. For me, specifically, coming in having just wrapped eight years of an experience and having one day to sort of come here, it was like, "Oh, home, easy, family, familial."

Q: What was it like working with [your Buffy co-star] Seth Green again?

GELLAR: If I had my druthers, I’d work with Seth on every project. I think the world is just starting to catch on to him. I’ve known him since I was like seven years old, so like six years ago (clears her throat). It’s how talented he is. He’s an amazing comedian, he’s an incredibly gifted comedian, but he’s also a really giving comedian. A lot of times when you get people who are so incredibly innately funny, it’s about them, they’re funny. What Seth does is tries to make everything funny. He’ll be the first one to come to you and say, "I had this great idea for this line," or "You should do this in this part." I’d like one day to do a movie where we could really work off each other. Obviously, he’s a little more intended for Velma in this movie than for myself, but that’s on my list of things I’d really like to do one day, is to really get to work with Seth.

Q: Do you have more fight sequences in the sequel?

GELLAR: That’s the one thing, they always ask you, "What’s the thing you really want to do in the fights?" "I want to do another big wire routine!" I had never done wirework before the first movie, and the original cut of the fight sequence was something like 10 minutes. As we all know, children - you can’t keep them for 10 minutes. It got chopped down. I was so ready for this fight, and I don’t have a big wire fight in this one. I think the idea being, we did it in the first one, why do it in the second, so this one is a sword fight. But it’s much more Daphne on the defensive. She doesn’t win the fight. It’s a defensive fight, which is fun and really different for me. Instead of sort of being the aggressor, I had to be the defender. I’ve never worked with two sticks at once. And, you’re also fighting this Black Knight Ghost - I don’t know if you guys saw him - he’s 10 feet tall and can barely walk, and there he is wielding this 8-foot sword. It’s daunting.

Q: Was it fun working with these new actors like Alicia Silverstone and all the new monsters?

GELLAR: [The monsters] never show up, they’re never here, they never come out of their trailer. It’s very difficult, very temperamental. The monsters are great. It has a real feel for the cartoon when you bring visitors here and you just see their faces, "I remember in this episode, where the cotton candy glob," or whatever it is, so it reminds you, it gives you more to work off with. Alicia was great. We hit it off right away. She’s terrified about going into series television and she keeps asking me about it. She’s a really easygoing person. We were commenting on how easily - you take a cast of four people that have done a movie together and have all these stories, "Hey, remember when we were in Australia?" And so you always worry about new people. All of a sudden you get Alicia and Seth to come in, and it felt like they’d been with us since the beginning. And Peter Boyle’s great, I mean, come on! Frankenstein. Peter Boyle. But, he unfortunately hasn’t been here that much. I’ve only been able to work with him a couple days.

Q: Are you looking forward to doing more film work now?

GELLAR: I’m looking forward to more than anything else, just sort of figuring out what it is I want to do. For twelve years now, I’ve worked straight through. I’ve never had - I’ve never taken a summer vacation. I go away for two weeks at Christmas time. I went straight from All My Children to Buffy, and doing movies in the hiatus, and I think the most exciting thing for me now is to get the chance to sort of do the different characters. I’ve been incredibly fortunate to be able to make movies on my hiatus, but my hiatus is just that - it’s two-and-a-half months. If a project doesn’t fit in to that exact time, there’s nothing you can do. I think for me, the fun thing now is to take the step back and say, "Okay, now I want to make an action movie." Or, "Now I want to make something serious," or "Now I want to do comedy," and to have those opportunities that I haven’t been able to go after. I think it’ll be strange. It certainly hasn’t hit me yet. It definitely hasn’t hit me. I was home for Fourth of July weekend, and that was sort of the first time I realized, "Oh, I should be going back to work in a couple of weeks." But, I don’t think the enormity of it has hit me yet.

Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed hits theaters Friday, March 26, 2004.

All-American Teenagers in Pursuit of Pseudospirits

NYtimes Scooby Doo 2 Review.

All-American Teenagers in Pursuit of Pseudospirits

By DAVE KEHR

Published: March 26, 2004

Packed with extensive and expensive digital effects, "Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed" appears to represent Warner Brothers’ effort to produce a homegrown rival to its wildly successful, feverishly Anglophilic "Harry Potter" franchise. Adapted (like the first film, released in 2002) from a short-lived (1969 to 1972) Saturday morning cartoon series produced by the Hanna-Barbera factory, "Scooby-Doo 2" features a gang of all-American teenagers (played by actors well into their 20’s) whose mascot is the semitalking, computer-generated dog Scooby. Their mission: to battle the seemingly supernatural apparitions that constantly beset the back-lot town of Coolsville.

Where "Harry Potter" offended some conservative Christians with its apparent endorsement of witchcraft and sorcery, "Scooby-Doo" threatens to do the same by steadfastly denying the existence of any transcendent dimension. In the strictly secular-humanist world of "Scooby-Doo," there are no real ghosts, but only humans desperate for attention who disguise themselves as supernatural figures. The episodes end with a ritual unmasking, in which a feared apparition - like the Pterodactyl Ghost, the Black Knight Ghost, Captain Cutler’s Ghost and the 10,000-Volt Ghost - is revealed as a mewling fraud.

All of the above pseudospirits are back for "Scooby-Doo 2," which begins with a tribute to the ghost-busting gang - handsome Fred (Freddie Prinze Jr.), perky Daphne (Sarah Michelle Gellar), brainy Velma (Linda Cardellini) and spacey Shaggy (Matthew Lillard) - at the Coolsonian Criminology Museum. On display are the ghost costumes captured from various miscreants, which suddenly come to life on the orders of a mysterious masked figure who appears in the exhibition hall and seriously poops the party. It’s time for our friends, who call themselves Mystery Inc., to strike back and reclaim their damaged reputations.

Who is the mysterious masked figure? Among the suspects are the guest stars Seth Green, Peter Boyle, Tim Blake Nelson and Alicia Silverstone, all of whom seem to have signed up for a maximum of two days’ work.

"Scooby-Doo 2," which opens today nationwide, is, like its predecessor, directed by Raja Gosnell, a protégé of and former film editor for Chris Columbus, who made the first two "Harry Potter" films. Mr. Gosnell does his best to recreate the Potter blend of mild spookiness and kiddie comedy, but the material just is not as psychologically rich as J. K. Rowling’s shrewd combination of adolescent self-pity and violent revenge fantasy.

"Scooby-Doo 2" looks like a Saturday morning cartoon (the characters all wear color-coded costumes) and unfortunately feels like one, too, with its thin characterizations, largely arbitrary action and feeble jokes. (A few flatulence gags, probably too tasteless for television, have been added to the theatrical version.) Kids will find "Scooby-Doo 2" a place holder at best, a way of staving off impatience while waiting for "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban," to be released on June 4.

"Scooby-Doo 2" is rated PG (Parental guidance suggested) for some dimly frightening situations, some gross humor and at least one covert drug reference. (Keep your nose out of those aerosol cans, Shaggy!)

Directed by Raja Gosnell

PG, 91 minutes

From www.buffy.nu:

Bigger, but not better

It is loaded with expensive CGI set-pieces, but this sequel only makes you long for the Gang’s good old animation days on TV instead

By Ong Sor Fern

SCOOBY DOO 2: MONSTERS UNLEASHED (PG)

95 minutes

Opens tomorrow

SCRIPTWRITERS, WHERE ARE YOU? : CGI Can’t Get It right, so the cast (from left) Gellar, Prinze, Lilliard and Cardellini have to fend for themselves. THIS movie presents an interesting conundrum for movie critics.

To judge Scooby Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed as an actual movie is unfair, since it is no more than a string of expensive CGI set-pieces set to instantly disposable pop music.

Yet, the presence of live actors, a big budget and a 95-minute running time seeks to convince one that this, indeed, is a feature movie.

Given the number of critically-drubbed animation-turned-into-live action features, including the first Scooby Doo, one would have thought a sequel would be moot.

Yet here we are confronted once again with the sight of a real-life Fred (Freddie Prinze Jr), Daphne (Sarah Michelle Gellar), Velma (Linda Cardellini) and Shaggy (Matthew Lilliard) interacting with a 1.8m-tall computer-generated Scooby (voiced by Neil Fanning).

The good news: This sequel actually has a skeletal plot that makes - barely - coherent linkages from one frenetic set-piece to the next.

It has something to do with the appearance of a new villain in Coolsville, who has invented a dastardly machine to re-animate old villains from the Scooby gang’s past.

The script attempts character development.

So Velma gets a nerdy suitor in the form of museum curator Patrick (Seth Green, Gellar’s Buffy The Vampire Slayer alumnus who really deserves better than this).

Shaggy gets insecure about his goofiness and vows to become a more useful member of the Gang. And Fred gets an attack of introspection that lasts all of one minute.

If you are under six years old, the antics of an animated cartoon come to expensive three-dimensional life will probably prove thrilling.

Beyond that demographic, the viewer will probably marvel at how live action can be flatter than two-dimensional drawings.

It would not be such a bad thing if this were not such a totally, shameless exercise in mercenary money-making.

Every action set-piece, with dizzying roller-coaster scenery zipping past, looks like a theme park/Xbox game in the making.

One full-length musical number dropped into the middle of the action is designed to showcase the determinedly radio-friendly hit-and-run single.

The bombastic CGI only makes one long for the uncomplicated, cheap animation of the cartoon.

The presence of a decent cast of actors only serves to show up the abysmal pointlessness of it all.

Lilliard, with his rubbery lankiness and gurgling voice, was born to play Shaggy and he imbues the character with enough goofy charm to be endearing.

Gellar’s Daphne is a diluted version of her spunky Buffy persona. When Daphne utters at one point, ’Quick, we need to think of a comeback’ but manages only a ’Hey, shut up!’, one cannot help but wish one is in the presence of that other much better-scripted Scooby gang from the TV show.

By the time the Velvet Teddy Bear himself, Reuben Studdard, shows up for his musical cameo, it is evident that this pre-engineered piece of pop piffle has long passed its sell-by date.

Can Scooby Doo Two Top Original ?
From The-Numbers.com (http://www.the-numbers.com) - By C.S.Strowbridge - 2004-03-28th

Can Scooby Doo Two Top Original? Four movies open wide this weekend, or maybe it would be more accurate to say one and three halves as only one film opens in more than 1,600 theatres. This makes the race for top spot not so tough to predict, but the rest of the top ten is wide open. The three smaller openings are hoping for strong word of mouth, but as last week’s soft debut for Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind tells us, that’s a risky bet.

Scooby Doo surprised analysts opening with more than $50 million, but then it dropped fast and had poor legs. That makes the market for Scooby Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed a little suspect. A year earlier another film, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider had a similar box office, and it’s sequel was one of the biggest box office disappointments of 2003. Will Scooby Doo 2 suffer the same fate? It probably won’t be as extreme, but a big drop is in store for the franchise. Look for $30 million, and with reviews that are even weaker than the originals, look for less legs at the box office.

Given its genre, Dawn of the Dead is almost guaranteed to lose more than half its box office this week. But given its strong reviews, it won’t be much more. Look for $13 million this weekend and a sequel sometime in 2005 - 2006.

For the first time in its run, The Passion of the Christ is losing theatres; granted it’s less than 100. Halving topped $300 million during the week, Passions should earn another $12 million this weekend.

The three other new releases will all have great difficulty making an impact at the box office.

Tom Hanks is a huge star who is currently riding a seven-movie $100 million streak. Unfortunately, that streak is about to come to an end. The Ladykillers would have to more than double The Coen Brothers’ best effort so far. And it will have to do it opening in just 1,583 theatres, and to the worst reviews in Tom Hanks’ career since Bonfire of the Vanities. It should, on the other hand, earn $11 million this weekend and have enough legs to top $50 million.

I’ll admit right up front that I’m a big Kevin Smith fan, so I’m hoping Jersey Girl does well. However, his films work best when he cares less about the potential box office and more about telling a story his way. His weakest film to date, Mallrats, was an obvious attempt to cash in financially on the critical acclaim Clerks had earned. I said his weakest film to date because Jersey Girl is earning the worst reviews of his career (but second best this weekend). This may be because this film has none of the edge Kevin Smith is best known for (it is his first PG-13 movie). Look for $7.5 million this weekend and about $20 million overall.

The last film on the list, Never Die Alone, opens in less than 1,200 theatres, but with focused marketing it should have a stronger per theatre average than it would otherwise muster. Also hurting its chances are its reviews, currently sitting at only 36% positive they don’t suggest the positive word of mouth this film needs to succeed. It should have a similar box office to Jersey Girl with $7 million opening and slightly better legs.

Also worth noting, three movies have sneak peaks this weekend. Hellboy plays in New York and Los Angeles on Friday, Walking Tall plays in roughly 750 theatres on Saturday while The Prince and Me has its sneak peak Saturday and Sunday.

Fans who met her in LA during the SD premiere.

Story + Pics they took

Josh:Well, a large, black, SUV drove right past us (the street was closed off, thankfully…), made a u-turn and stopped right in front of the red carpet. We realized it was Sarah and Freddie because the press got really excited. Sarah stepped out of her car, and immediately bypassed the red carpet and started crossing the street. She gave a few waves to the crowd, and went over to the barricades. The six of us started freaking out, we could actually SEE Sarah… She was right there. We were taking pictures and trying to get camera footage. We weren’t really expecting anything. Some of us were getting shoved against the barricades because everyone behind us started pushing to get to Sarah. She signed for a few kids at the beginning of the line, then signed for four kids dressed as the Scooby gang. She bypassed a group of the people in the crowd, and came right up to our group. She focused right on me, probably because I was smack dab in the middle. I just stared in awe, and went, “Sarah! Will you sign my shirt?” so she asked “Does anybody have a Sharpie?” It was then that we pulled out the magical, wonderful, FIVE DOLLAR green marker. She proceeded to sign my shirt, (Sarah Michelle,) as photographers were all around, photographing it. I babbled out how I was the Fred on TRL, and my friend with me had been Daphne. She looked up at me and went, “That’s right! I remember! I remember that!” She was signing Nancy’s shirt then, and I went, “I came from Boston, would you mind taking a picture with me?” And she complied very happily. I then thanked her and told her I loved her. Kieu was next in line, someone pushed into her and it seemed like she was going to fall over the barricade. Sarah went, “Careful! Don’t fall!” She started signing Kieu’s shirt, and apologized for it being messy but said “its better that way!”, so she started signing her initials instead of her full name. Karen and Genesis had been standing in the crowd, completely stuck. Jonelle noticed that they were stuck on the other side and Sarah was going to be moved down the line. Karen went, “Dammit, I guess she’s gone…” so Jonelle went, “No she’s not!” and pushed Karen and Gen up front. Sarah told Karen something along the lines of “Come here” and she said “Okay” then held up her shirt front so Sarah could sign. During all this, Sarah made a comment about our t-shirts, something along the lines of “you guys spent a lot of time on these huh?” And we all answered her “YES!” Gen’s shirt was next to be signed, and Karen’s now reads something along the lines of “SMc” or “SMa”… It depends on how you’re looking at it. Sarah was trying to get to Jonelle, but she couldn’t push through completely so Sarah went, “Just give me and arm, or something!” (Jonelle’s tee-shirt’s arm now bears “SMG” or rather “SMg”.)

Genish:Sarah handed the (FIVE DOLLAR!) marker back to Karen, and we all screamed out our complete success at getting Sarah’s attention. We were all very composed when Sarah was with us, but when she moved away, we broke down. I wasn’t expecting Sarah to reach me, I was not expecting anything but to have the chance to see her from afar and support her. When Sarah moved away… everything slowed. I looked around unbelieving and everything literally came crashing down – this was real. Josh turned around to see Nancy crying, and then to me, bawling – overwhelmed and completely and utterly in shock/awe. This then caused a chain reaction as the six of us stood there in tears. We all basically suffocated each other with enormous hugs: trying to calm the other down and in happiness. Everybody was very excited for us. (Well, almost everyone… Those in the back were mauling us with their eyes. But they weren’t the ones up since 6 A.M. with 3 hours of sleep!)

buttercup:So after that ordeal, Sarah signed for very few people after us, and went to the press line. Matt was signing for a few kids up front, and Freddie did as well. Gen, Nancy, J etc. started calling to Freddie. He turned toward us while in the press line and gave a great big wave. We started jumping up and down and screaming. I believe the wave was caught on tape. We followed Sarah and Freddie through the press line - following their feet, which were the only things that were really viewable through the tiny gaps between posters. We would call out Sarah's name, but we didn't want to be rude so we would stop for periods of time, and then when she was closer to the largest gap, we were told to call her name again. She was still being interviewed, so we waited until she had finished talking (because we're such well-mannered children lol). The second she stopped talking, our whole group, (which did include more than the six of us,) screamed out her name. We were holding two of our signs up, one overhead and one against the barricade. Sarah turned to us (which again caused pandemonium behind us - video camera footage got a bit shaky at this point. It's hilarious.), smiled and waved with one hand, then waved with both hands to us. She was grinning, and then shielded her eyes to read our signs. She pointed to us, laughing, and gave us thumbs up. She held both index fingers up (as in "number one"), then responded to us very enthusiastically, which was really fun to see. (This will later be researched as to what we THINK she may have said, seeing as everything has been caught on video. We were trying to figure it out while still together, but it was too difficult.) She tapped her friend to have the signs be read by her, and her friend laughed with her. After waving, she then left the press line and went inside. Meanwhile, we were still in awe/shock. I am currently still in shock. Did all that really happen?

kieuber:After the premiere, we went around to the side of the theater and waited near the exit, in hopes of getting more pictures. Everyone was all split up because we didn't know where the exit was. We just stood where we saw black cars. Karen and myself were helping this lady with leg problems so we got split up with the group. I acutally massaged this woman's leg while karen held her up. We're such friggin saints. This "lady" had to sit down so i was there with her while karen went back to the place behind the concert area to wait, because there was a buttload of cars parked there. Then i saw about 7 security guards come out of the concert area that the "lady" and i were infront of, so i called them over (thank god for cellphones). There, Seth gave us a wave, as did Linda, Alicia, James Gunn, and Matt responded to our sign by saying he “liked the way” we thought. Sarah and Freddie had apparently left early, so there was no sign of them, but the day was incredible, and none of us will ever forget it.

Janna23: Sorry in advance for all of the tags, their placement and the small size of each photo. These are all precautions and hopefully deterrents against theft of my photos. I’m pretty proud of them and have chosen some of the best of the bunch to share with you all.

Once again here’s my story (and I’ll probably come back later to supplement it on what it was like to watch those crazy kids see Sarah)…

Let's see, well I arrived at about 8am Saturday morning knowing that the set-up for a premiere would attract all kinds of attention and that people who really are just willing to watch any event would line up and take all the good spaces. I spoke to a couple security guards and they assured me that the only place to get any pics or to be able to see anything was across the street. So, I chose my place based on being able to see the event longest...seeing them get out of their cars...walk thru the endless front red carpet area that had all of those lovely posters and advertisement for the charity that was involved with the event that you all see in the posed photos...and then finally on the side of the carpet that we could still see them on before they rounded the corner into the press pit. My friends were all running late with several important personal things having unfortunately landed on the same day. But, I held their space thru many hours of annoying people trying to push themselves in with the help of some other friends that just happened to be there too.

Now there are many fun moments to talk about regarding this premiere but I know what you all want to hear and that's about Sarah, so I will give you the details on my experience and mine alone. Sadly, my digital was fated to die the day before the event, but I borrowed my friend's video camera and I had two still cameras. Before you all ask, I probably won't be sharing the video...I don't see it as something that everyone and their brother should be able to download and I'm sorry in advance. But I will share a few of my photos with smgfan.com and the Hostess and I will make sure they are appropriately emblazoned with all the necessary credits.

So, the SUV carrying Sarah and Freddie pulled up...I recognized the bodyguard worked for her a lot on locations in the front seat and knew it was them. Then Sarah made her way across the street and pandemonium ensued. Suddenly new people were next to me that had pushed my friends right out of the way...let's just say there was a lot of rude people that thought that they had just as much of a right to see Sarah as those of us that had waited the entire morning, afternoon and years of being great fans. I brought my photo of Sarah and I and prepared for her arrival. I was shaking so much that I'm surprised I was able to say anything or take photos, but shockingly I did. Sarah came over to me, looked at my photo and realized it was me, seemed to scrutinize herself in the photo and signed it...I said, "Hi Sarah...How are you?" and she said, "I'm well thank you...how are you?" and she smiled for a photo, a gorgeous close-up photo with such a sweet smile that I adore and all of my friends adore too. I believe this will be the main photo that I share with all of you when I get around to scanning the photos. Then Sarah made her way past me and to the rest of the line of people...who I'm sure will all have stories for you also.

I will let the others fill you all in on the rest...you must have patience, because good things come to those who wait. Sarah has proved that to me quite a few times, including Saturday.

Thank you Sarah for making so many people so happy all at once. You are just too fabulous.

Back for another Scooby Snack Apr 2 2004

Western Mail Reporter, The Western Mail

The world’s most famous cartoon sleuths got a live action makeover for the big screen in 2002. Now the Great Dane and his super crew have returned to make Scooby Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed. ROB DRISCOLL teams up with the Mystery Inc heroes

Sarah Michelle Gellar plays Daphne

"Scooby Doo 2 is a stronger movie, the characters have more depth"

You’d think that starring as Buffy the Vampire Slayer on the small screen might have prepared Sarah Michelle Gellar more than adequately for her action-packed combat scenes in Scooby Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed.

But the 26-year-old’s extensive martial arts experience from seven seasons of slaying sinister creatures on the world-conquering TV series counted for nothing when it came to her Scooby character Daphne’s valiant sword fight with the Black Knight Ghost.

"Everyone thinks my fight with the Black Knight Ghost must have been so easy because of all my Buffy training, but if anything it’s actually harder," says Gellar, who has a brown belt in Tae Kwon Do.

"I’m trained as a fighter but not a sword fighter. So to have to forget everything and just be Daphne up against this imposing enemy was a lot harder, considering it was very choreographed."

When one of the most popular children’s TV animation series of all time made the tricky journey to celluloid two years ago, Hollywood insiders were sceptical.

But Scooby Doo: The Movie went on to reap an astonishing $275m worldwide, paving a way for a sequel which had the luxury of inventing a more spectacular adventure as well as investing more in the heroic quartet’s character development.

"When you do one of these movies for the first time, the first 30 or 40 minutes is all about presenting the characters," says Gellar, who co-stars for the second time with her real-life husband Freddie Prinze Jr (he plays leader of the Mystery Inc. gang Fred).

"Scooby Doo 2 is a stronger movie, while the characters have more depth."

In the new movie, the crime-busting, ghost-hunting foursome have skyrocketed their way to superstar celebrity status in their home-town of Coolsville, USA.

In honour of their skills in solving all things mysterious, the gang is honoured at a red carpet affair at the Coolsonian Criminology Museum, where the costumes of all the creepy villains they have unmasked over the years are being exhibited for the first time.

Unfortunately, somebody with a serious grudge against the gang wants to take the costumes down and soon our heroes find themselves up against an anonymous masked villain with a monster machine that re-creates classic Mystery Inc. foes like the Pterodactyl Ghost, The Black Knight Ghost, Captain Cutler’s Ghost and the 10,000 Volt Ghost.

Working with her husband of two years on the Scooby Doo movies was the cream on the cake for Gellar.

"I always say any chance I get to work with talented actors I will take it, and he was the best," she says. "I don’t think I’d do it in a situation where it was about us."

It’s been nearly a year since the final series of Buffy the Vampire Slayer wrapped. Yet for Gellar, she still feels like she’s in a mourning period.

"In all truthfulness I don’t know if the enormity of it has actually hit me.

"We finished Buffy on April 16, and I started on Scooby Doo 2 on April 17.

"After completing the movie I thought I’d decompress a little and take stock to comprehend, and then I was home for a little bit, but then I left for Tokyo for another film project and it seems like I keep putting off dealing with it. But I will deal with it!"

Matthew Lillard plays Shaggy

"The leap of faith was much smaller on Scooby Doo 2"

There’s one very important critic that Matthew Lillard took along to the Los Angeles premiere of Scooby Doo 2 the other week; his 20-month-old daughter Addison.

And before you think she might be just a little young to appreciate the finer points of daddy’s performance as the eternally scared but goofily loveable Norville "Shaggy" Rogers alongside his canine companion Scooby Doo, think again.

"Addison was born the weekend that the first Scooby Doo movie opened in America, so that was the greatest weekend that anybody could have asked for," enthuses 34-year-old Lillard.

"And now, the first movie I ever took Addison to was Scooby Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed.

"She’s grown up with Scooby Doo stuff in the house.

"I was over here in Britain for five months doing a play and before I left they had this big cut-out of Shaggy that was put near my hotel room, and she went up to the sign and went, ’Daggy?’ It was pretty cute - it broke my heart."

Lillard, still fondly remembered for his star-making role as a hyper-kinetic teen serial killer in cult comedy-horror Scream, is in many ways the true lead turn of the Scooby Doo movies.

"I guess Shaggy and Scooby are the heart and soul of the gang," he smiles. "One of the things that makes Shaggy and Scooby so appealing is that they’re not superheroes. They’re always scared and they’re always hungry. There’s a little bit of that in all of us."

Of all the actors on the set, Lillard knows best what it’s been like acting opposite a non-existent dog.

All the footage involving the computer-generated Scooby was added well after the players had shot their scenes - but Lillard is fast becoming used to running with his imagination.

"The leap of faith was much smaller on Scooby Doo 2. The first time around, we didn’t know how they’d make Scooby - would he look like a real dog? And it changed all the time too. It turns out the animators upstaged me at every single chance! I still think it’s the most difficult thing you can ask an actor to do.

"Acting is all about the energy between two people, the exchange, and comic timing."

Luckily for Lillard, actor Neil Fanning invoked the spirit of the ravenous Great Dane and delivered Scooby’s dialogue to provide emotional cues for all of the cast.

"I couldn’t have done it without Neil," says Lillard. "He was on set every day, and at least I had his voice to work with; that was invaluable."

In preparation for the extensive amount of comedy-based action that is required of ultra laid-back power eater Shaggy, Lillard turned to one of the masters.

"I watched a lot of Charlie Chaplin movies, and studied his whole style of physical comedy. I think that really helped my physical timing."

But one of the hazards of dedicating himself to the role so doggedly became evident this time around.

"Playing Shaggy twice now, I notice there’s a part of me that brings him home from work," says Lillard. "I find my voice continually breaks and I’ll raise my pitch an octave when I make a joke. But I generally don’t speak to the air, which is what I did on set all day!"

Linda Cardellini plays Velma

"You never know when your next job’s coming"

Meet Linda Cardellini in the flesh and you’d never believe this is the girl who plays frumpy brainbox Velma in Scooby Doo 2.

The actress is blonde, svelte and sexy - words which wouldn’t apply to the bespectacled, brunette, polo neck-wearing intellectual she plays on screen.

So when Velma starts falling in love - with like-minded museum curator Patrick Wisely (Seth Green) - and decides to woo him with an image makeover by squeezing into a tight red cat-suit, 29-year-old Cardellini had her work cut out.

"That cat-suit was hot," she says. "And by that I mean physically hot, not sexy!

"Velma jumps to the conclusion that Patrick likes her because he thinks she’s a mysterious jet-set adventurer, so with the help of the more image-conscious Daphne, she transforms herself into this glamorous Bond girl.

"Quite a few times when I was wearing that cat suit, I had to take a break, because I was sweltering!

"But it was a lot of fun, because it was so out of character for Velma and any of the awkwardness I felt wearing it was perfect for Velma’s character."

These days Cardellini’s star is shining, as she recently landed a major new role on the world’s most famous TV drama series, ER, as Nurse Samantha Taggart, a character yet to be seen by British viewers.

Commitments to ER’s filming schedule mean that Cardellini’s career on small and big screen requires a great deal of juggling.

"Basically the only time I have free from ER is in the summer, so that’s the time I get a chance to do whatever I want - whether it be a break, or make a movie," says Cardellini.

"In this business, you never know when your next job’s coming and if you’re having a lucky streak you’ve got to enjoy it while you can.

"My role on ER is one of the best roles I’ve ever had. Samantha is a single working mother, who’s also an excellent nurse, and she’s tough and independent. I was reading so many scripts, and I really didn’t come across anything that I liked as much as my role in ER. "Meanwhile, it’s great that I have something like Scooby Doo which could not be more different from what I do on ER."

SMG About Scooby Doo 2 Audio Interview

Sarah Michelle Gellar is back on our big screens this month as dapper Daphne in Scooby Doo 2: Monsters Inc. and it sounds like she’s had a great time getting her teeth into this sequel too. Although most of you probably know that Sarah Michelle Gellar was playing ever-fighting vampire slayer Buffy on TV for years, you probably won’t know that her career started at the tender age of four, when she was discovered by an agent whilst eating in a local restaurant. Shortly after, her film career kicked off and numerous stints at various Broadway theatres followed.

She may have killed her last vampire on your TV screens but you will have plenty of opportunities to see her on your cinema screens, or even a theatre stage near you, very soon. Shooting Scooby Doo 2: Monsters Inc., which also features her husband Freddie Prince Jr., sadly prevented her from returning to play Buffy one last time on TV show Angel, but she says that it was probably best that way.

It’s anyone’s guess what is next for this multi-talented actress who is equally at home on screen and on stage. She kept her future plans firmly under wraps but who knows, she said that she loves London, so don’t be too surprised if you see her walking around town, checking out a few plays in the West End.

To hear Sarah Michelle Gellar talk about filming Scooby Doo 2: Monsters Inc. and other things, such as her favourite Scooby Snacks, working with her husband and her new lucky charm, click here (http://www2.capitalfm.com/staticweb/avplayers/vanilla/cap_audio.html?&stream=mms://stream2.capitalinteractive.co.uk/capital/entertainment/sarah_michelle_gellar_scooby.asf&end)

The 26-year-old star also confessed that she had spent the day getting up to mischief at one of London’s most famous tourist attractions. "I went to Buckingham Palace and spent the whole afternoon trying to get one of the Queen’s guards to move," she revealed. "I pulled every trick I knew. I was pulling funny faces and telling jokes but those guys just don’t move an inch. It’s really impressive. I think one of them should think about a career in acting."

No doubt the young fans who came to see her will also turn out when Brooklyn’s dad David (David Beckham, footballer) makes his big screen debut. Because the glamorous midfielder is currently in talks to appear in a remake of the classic comedy The Pink Panther.

Not elaborate humour, primitive gags and complete lack of the touch of the original cartoon about a coward-dog Scoobie Doo and his friends, amatourish detectives. That was the 1st adaptation of Scooby Doo's adventures.Unfortunately the second part isn't any better. A stupid movie with poor special effects-interesting that it has became a rule in American productions for kids nowadays. So if your child likes Scooby Doo cartoon there's no point in showing him/her this and spoiling the fun for them.

Sorry for mistakes but I tried to translate it as good as I could:)

I just saw the movie! It was really cute, I was very entertained! It was a blast to see Seth Green on screen too. He was super cute as the museum curator (complete with nerd glasses)! It has fun twists and some silly comic relief involving our all time favorite...Scooby Dooby Doo! :)

We went to see Scooby Doo 2 today and this is what we thought -

Connor (aged 6, his first trip to the cinema:)) loved it especially the fart gags! Then again, he loved the adverts, the "Fanatical about film" logo projected on the ceiling, the little boy sitting next to him, his MacDonalds Happy Meal and toy (the shame ;)), the fact it was the first time he'd ever been in a cinema...:)
He couldn't understand why he couldn't see Harry Potter 3, Thunderbirds or Shrek 2, as they'd shown trailers for them...

Natalia (14) thought it was OK - liked it " about the same as the first one". She's a teenager, that's about the longest sentence we've had from her in ages ;)

Mrs P and I (both over 21:)) preferred the first one but this was OK as a kid's film. Nice to see the old Mystery Inc villains, Seth was good (seemed to be playing Oz in a suit), SMG was better in the first one IMO, there didn't seem to be as many references/gags for adults. Matthew Lillard stole the show as Shaggy yet again...

Hypothermic Five’s UK Scooby Doo 2 Premiere Report

Note: Five members of our community attended the UK premiere of Scooby Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed on March 26, 2004.

PRE-PREMIERE:

Okay, so here goes. When we were talking about the premiere afterwards, we quickly realised that despite the fact we were all standing so close together...as in we could feel-each-other-shaking-close...we all had very different memories. We were looking in different directions and we all saw slightly different things. Sonia didn’t manage to get any photos post-Tony because her camera battery ran out but Jo did get some and Leigh managed to videotape quite a lot.

We all met in Leicester Square at 11:15am. We were: Jo, Leigh, Sonia, Agnes and her friend. The Warner Village in Leicester Square had the big SD2 posters up and at first we kinda wished the premiere was going to be there. We got over that later though and looking back, we’re so glad it wasn’t there lol. So then we headed for Islington where the premiere was going to be. The nearest underground station being “Angel”: we were willing to take that as a very positive sign at the time.

So we tracked down the shopping area where the Warner Village was located. Can we just say now that it was probably the worst place on earth they could have picked when you’re a fan and trying to figure out where to stand; where the press would be; where we’d be likely to get a good view etc. There are two levels (the cinema on the upper one) and on the lower level it’s an open area with a slope at one side leading down to the shops, and stairs at the other.

The area is triangular and filters down to the escalator that goes up to the cinema. It then became obvious that they were going to barricade off BOTH sides leading towards the escalator, so at some point we were going to have to make a choice about which side to pick. [Later, Leigh psychically predicted a good spot for us after asking one of the men who were putting up the barriers because we were told that the celebrities were going to come down the stairs onto the green carpet]. Anyway, it was around 11.30am. Nobody was around. There were some workmen just starting to carry random stuff around that was obviously connected to the premiere. But unless you knew that’s where it was going to be, you wouldn’t have guessed at that time. We went up the escalator to the cinema-level and sat on the bench at the top. Then Sonia gave out the t-shirts (which were amazing by the way) and we decided we may as well be sad and just put them on. I mean...we didn’t know anyone in that area and we’d never see them again anyway. We sat on a bench and were just looking around and filling in our personal messages on the thank-you card Jo had bought previously. Were just generally hanging around, talking and making jokes. Sonia noticed a “Yo! Sushi” restaurant right next to the cinema on the same level as the sushi bar and predicted that "Sarah would so go there to eat". We still don’t know if that was true or not.

There were various people with SD2 passes on and they kept going past. We’d been there a while (and were already freezing by the way. It was very cold in London on Friday). Then at some point this woman (who later turned out to be the main organiser of the event) came up to us and asked why we were there. So we told her and she loved our shirts - apparently they were very loveable... and then she said something about having to make sure we were in a good spot where the T.V. cameras would be able to pick us up for Newsround (a kids news show here). She told us not to move and that she’d be back. We did wait for a while but we were hungry and not all that keen on the whole idea, so we eventually went off. We saw the woman a couple of times later but realised she was in panic mode by that time running around trying to sort stuff out. So we went for a wander and on the lower level below and to the side of the cinema... leading to a small car park/exit area, they were starting to put up stuff which quickly became clear was connected to the premiere. We psyched ourselves up and went over to talk to one of the guys. Sonia asked him if that was where the after-premiere party was and he said "yes". Then he was chatting and joking about letting us in etc. He was a nice guy, but that little alleyway was a wind tunnel so we couldn’t stand there for long and not require medical attention for hypothermia. We needed it later really, but other stuff was grabbing our attention by then.

At some point before we left, these random two girls (autograph hounds) came over to us asking if we were here for the premiere and if we knew who’d be there and who we were there to see. Those are perfectly fine questions, but they’d been wandering around and walking past us repeatedly for around an hour and we decided we didn’t want to hang out with them for the whole looong day so we went downstairs to try to lose them. Apparently they go to every premiere in Leicester Square and had been confused about the location for this one, and were still recovering because they didn’t get Orlando Bloom’s autograph on one of the 3 times they’ve seen him. So yeah, big Sarah and Scooby fans! There were a couple of other people hanging around who were, well, interesting characters to see the least. We went into the actual cinema and we were acting pretty shadily. We went up to the second cinema level and they had loads of Scooby stuff all over the place. HUGE posters, smaller posters. We were going to ask for some, and to be honest I’m sure nobody would have cared... but we already had enough to carry so in hindsight it was good we didn’t. Things got too chaotic later as it was.

The rain kept blowing through really lightly and we were all “Argghhh. If it’s raining they won’t stop for long,” and all that stuff. Thankfully it didn’t ever come on properly. So we were standing around chatting, wishing time would speed up. At some point, the barriers were brought down to the lower level. We’d decided for various reasons that the upper level would be for TV/media/press/photographers probably, and could even be blocked off from the view of the rest of the upper level. So we decided to wait downstairs. When they brought down the barriers, things started getting stressful. The people who’d also been hanging around started standing by places where the barriers would go to make sure they got those positions. So now came the time for us to choose which side to go for. It wasn’t a decision we all wanted to make, so Leigh went and asked the head barrier guy with the walkie talkie which side the cast would be coming down. He said (apparently very convincingly... so she believed him) that the cast would be coming down the stairs. Leigh eventually convinced us that we should stand on the side the guy said they’d be coming down. If he’d been wrong; Leigh wouldn’t have been very popular. We decided to stand in the middle since it would have been easy for the cast to walk past the people at the start as they got their bearings, and sometimes at premieres people are in a rush by the time they get to the end and so don’t have time. So we thought... middle. We had a few heart attacks when all the TV crew guys would occasionally stand right in front of where we were standing but after eavesdropping on a number of their conversations and others, we found out that they’d be setting up right opposite us, across the green carpet.

After that point, the side we were on really started filling up, and we all started to get a little restless. It was only mid-afternoon by the way...around 2-3pm. They were continuing to put up barriers, posters and all that jazz. By this time, it was obvious that people were waiting for something, but not what. And since we were near a gate to allow shoppers to still be able to move around, we were asked at least 20 times what was going on. “What are people waiting for?” “There’s a premiere.” “Oh... what for?” They were even asking that when the SD2 posters were up everywhere. It was like... “OPEN YOUR EYES.” But yeah... we’d been there for hours.

Joking around about what we should tell them kept us occupied for a while. At around this time, Geraldine (eleagold) arrived and finally Agnes was able to talk to someone who didn’t have a weird accent. Cut to Geraldine’s PoV

I arrived later than the others because I had classes until 11am on Friday morning, so I arrived in London at around 3pm. Then I had to go to the hotel to leave my bags which took me 40 min and it took me another 15 min to walk to where the premiere was. I met Agnes, Jo, Leigh, polo, Isie and her friend there around 4pm which left me a whole 3 hours to wait in the cold...but it was so worth it...

Normal narration

Not much happened for the next couple of hours. More people and press arrived. The press were standing right in front of us. So again... we began to wonder if we were in the right place. It was really too late to do anything by this point since people were hanging around all along the barriers. They brought in an INCREDIBLY fake looking Mystery Machine, but it made us laugh for many reasons so it was a good thing. It was (eventually) positioned diagonally opposite us... and we knew that as long as the photographers didn’t stand right in front of us, we’d get a pretty decent view of things. The photographers were sitting around and people were asking them who’d be coming to the premiere, and it became clear that they were all there to photograph Sarah. The phrase, “Why do you think we’re all here?” was uttered more than once. So at some point they eventually ushered the photographers over to a spot directly opposite us... and we were THRILLED about that. It was pretty clear everyone would have to walk right in front of us. But again, we got slightly agitated when the woman who was handing out press passes decided to move her table to the spot RIGHT in front of us. We were all, “Please tell us you’ll be moving. We’ve been here for [insert # of hours] hours.” Anyway, she said she was pretty sure they’d be moving. I think we’d have jumped the barrier and moved her stupid table if she hadn’t. But she did... hehe.

So the crowds were still building. We had some problems with this group of guys. The security guy kept saying that our side of the barrier wasn’t his responsibility. Gee, thanks. He was a nice guy, but this group was pushing, shoving, swearing and really causing a couple of our members some major problems. Eventually, the security guy was persuaded to send for a woman in a more senior position and she got the police over. They were removed. It’s just as well too because none of us would have wanted Sarah anywhere near us if they’d still been there. They undoubtedly would have been shouting at her and doing even more pushing and shoving. One woman with a really tiny girl (around 3 years old) left because they were becoming so unpleasant. Ugh... idiots.

At about 6:45pm when ‘celebrities’ started arriving we decided to take off our coats and bare our t-shirts to the world. We really stood out not only because of our t-shirts but also because of the fact we were in t-shirts and everyone else was wrapped up warmly in coats, hats and scarves. No joke - that’s dedication people!! By 7pm we were sooo cold - and shaking from nerves and the cold combined. Earlier in the day we’d had a chat about what we thought Sarah would be wearing. We all picked different colours and I think we unanimously agreed she’d be wearing trousers or ‘the’ jeans and probably a jacket of some description over the top. Just so cold. Jo and Leigh every so often had to stretch out their arms to release their arm muscles from cramps from holding video camera/posters etc. We constantly had to move to keep from freezing into a fixed position.

So people started arriving. Leigh only had one battery on her video camera so she’d decided to wait until Sarah arrived to start filming. Unlike what happened to Sonia’s camera, we did not need the video camera running out as well when Sarah had just arrived or something. A bunch of non-celebs were going past... including the Cheeky Girls, Jodie Marsh...

Cut to Geraldine’s PoV

The stars actually started to arrive around 7pm and not being from the UK, let me tell you I didn’t recognise most of them and had to ask who they were. People started screaming their names to get their attention and some of them stopped to sign autographs. There were also a lot of non-famous people going to the premiere and lots of kids. By the way, can you imagine some 8 year-old with high heels on? So weird...

Normal narration

We were all saving our screams for the people who counted. So then, once the Eastenders and Hollyoaks cast members had gone through and all the other non-interesting people, Leigh decided to completely break her “I’m not using the camera until Sarah arrives,” plan because she looked around and saw TONY (Anthony Stewart Head - Giles on Buffy). Leigh pointed out to us that it was indeed him with his 2 daughters as she has a slight height advantage working for her with Sonia running closely behind. We were soooo happy to see him!

So everyone was ushered in front of the Mystery Machine to have their pictures taken by the press. So he went and did that. Then he came over towards the fans (he had passed us already by this point but was going back and forward). We shouted his name a couple of time. Soon after Tony left our area we saw Raja Gosnell and were shouting his name. NOBODY else on our line knew who Raja was (and at GettyImages.com they’ve put “Raji”) so there was no one except for us shouting for him. He is awesome. We only had to shout “Raaaajjaaaa!” twice because he turned around and waved and he got his camera out (from somewhere) and took a picture of us!! Sonia wants that to be on the DVD- you never know he might do a featurette of “the fans”! Leigh just missed getting this on camera because she’d stopped filming since Tony was blocked by photographers... So Tony was signing to our left (the stars came in from our right) and I didn’t know where to look because Sarah could have arrived at any minute...

Cut to Sonia’s PoV

At around 7:25pm, flashes were going off at the top of the staircase and a massive crowd of black coats etc. ensued. Jo then spotted Sarah at the top of the staircase. I watched Sarah descend the staircase as if in slow motion as flash after flash of camera flashes found her and the fans and everyone in the area went absolutely crazy. I watched her be welcomed by fans at the end of our row. What I’m about to describe is my defining moment of the whole day. I was in front of Jo and leaning on the barrier because I stepped on my bag to be higher up and without thinking I took the pink neon sign that Jo and I were both holding and held it much further outwards and upwards and as Jo and I were screaming “SARAH!” Sarah looked up and pointed at the sign- a gesture of acknowledgment. She took a moment to read it and then laughed with her hand on her chest. She then gesticulated as if she was saying “I’ll be there in a minute”. And she was. She signed some autographs on her way over, and what happened when she reached us is a complete and utter blur. Leigh videoed it all thank god because I don’t know the order of our Sarah presence.

Cut to Jo’s PoV

So she made her way over to us (stopping a couple of times on the way). When she reached us she first of all signed our signs. People were pushing and shoving and going crazy.

I had a thank-you card for her that we all wrote in (I also put “Thank You from the SMGfan.com community” as well) and when she was right in front of me I froze and was thinking that I had to give it to her. I had to speak to her. She was about to sign for Leigh when I called her name and this is how the conversation went:

Me: Sarah (Sarah looks up) this is a thank-you card from everyone at SMGFAN.COM to say thank-you for everything

Sarah: Aww thank-you that means so much to me [at that point my knees gave out and I fell against the barrier Sarah has a powerful smile]. Where do you want me to sign (your shirt)? I am only gonna put SMG ‘cause it won’t work. Is that okay?

Me: You can do do whatever you want.

Then Sarah laughed.

When she leaned over to sign my shirt I remember thinking, "she smells so nice."

So then she also initialled Sonia’s and Leigh’s shirts. At that point she was led away to go and have her picture taken by the press (she’d walked past that area in her efforts to sign for fans and so really had to go back).

Cut to Agnes’ PoV

I had the opportunity to see Sarah, but she didn’t quite make it to me. She is a goddess...tiny and amazing. I totally loved her dress. Hopefully she knows that she has a big fan in France. She was smiling so much. She is B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L.

Cut to Geraldine’s PoV

Sarah didn’t make it to me either unfortunately. I was kinda surprised because I was expecting her to be very, very small and she was actually taller than I thought. Well she had huge heels on but still... I think she was so nice to spend so much time signing pictures and she was smiling all the time. If she’s afraid of crowds and premiere, she certainly doesn’t show it ! ! !

Cut to Leigh’s PoV

It was just as she was being led away after signing our shirts and was walking towards the Mystery Machine that the cutest moment of the whole night happened. Cue me saying, “that is soooooo cute,” over and over again. Tony Head had gone past with his daughters, and I’m guessing that when they heard all of the screaming etc they decided to go back and greet Sarah (and probably Seth once they saw he was there too). So anyway, she just started walking towards the photo point and she recognised one of Tony’s daughters who was right in her line of sight. So she totally freaked out, put her arms out and they grabbed each other in a really tight hug, and were doing that rocking back and forth thing. Then Sarah and Tony’s other daughter hugged really tightly too. They seemed to genuinely be delighted to be seeing each other. We’ve heard Tony say his daughters love her, and I got the definite impression that the feeling is pretty much mutual. Lucky things. Anyway, Tony was right there talking to Seth while Sarah was hugging his daughters. It was a mini-Buffy reunion. So then Sarah and Tony hugged and both had the BIGGEST smiles on their faces. You could just see how thrilled they were to see each other. So they were hugging and kissing each other on the cheek and Sarah was saying something really excitedly and he was nodding, and she had a hold of his arm and was rubbing her hand up and down his forearm...and then she reached up, grabbed his face with both hands and they both leaned in as she said something...and I swear they rubbed noses. I was dying...hehehe. Then Seth got Sarah, Tony and his daughters to pose for a pic. I was in a happy bubble at that moment. There was nothing staged about it, nothing faked, no acting involved. They were all just thrilled to see each other and it really shone through.

Cut back to normal narration

So then Sarah went over to the photographers, and there were just so many people around that we didn’t have a clear view. So then Tony started walking past us again... and we all shouted his name. So he eventually made his way over to us at some point. I think he went to some other people and worked his way towards us. And then he got to us and he signed Sonia’s shirt and then Leigh’s shirt. He wasn’t too happy about signing them though because he claimed, “it never works.” The friend that Agnes had come over from France with had managed to get her Tony’s autograph the first time he’d walked past us so she didn’t need to beg him as he walked past this time.

So at some point round about now, Sarah was getting her pic taken with the rest of the cast. Matt and Linda had seemingly appeared out of nowhere a little bit earlier. But we were looking elsewhere so that might have had something to do with it. Then the photographers wanted her on her own. And you can see on the wireimage pics she did this thing where she scrunched herself up... obviously telling them she was cold... aww. But yeah... we didn’t have a great view so we were looking up and then looking around. So then Sarah walked back past us and she was given a shawl that she put around herself and some of the journalists in the press pen across from us were asking her questions as she went past. At this point another “Sarah! Sarah!” chant broke out, but again there were just loads of people around within the celeb area. Then she went to the fans at the other side who were in the small area on that side where she could still get to them (the press were blocking the rest). People were just going crazy. At this point Seth seemed to appear right beside us!

Cut to Sonia’s PoV

I asked Seth to sign my t-shirt as I was getting quite good at that- first with Sarah and then Tony and now Seth. But he was told to go and do a group photo with Linda, Matt & Sarah over at the van. But right before he went he said “I’ll be right back” and he did- he came back to me and he signed my t-shirt! I said to him, whilst he was signing me, “I miss Oz” and he said “sorry what’d you say?” so I said it again (this time with the correct tense lol) “I missed Oz why didn’t he come back?” and he laughed and said “aww thankyou” and then Jo said “you rule dude!” and he laughed at that and said “thanks” again. Then he moved onto Leigh and she asked him to sign her shirt and he said to me “I need a pen. Can I borrow your pen for a sec?” He’s such a sweetheart - so adorable! I think he came back again afterwards for a 3rd time and signed Jo’s sign.

After Seth left you could easily see Sarah because of the spotlight of camera flashes from every direction. It was amazing to watch all that light.

Cut to Agnes’ PoV

Then Seth Green came over to where I was, and he is just really cool. He signed the t-shirt which had been made for me by Sonia. I’ll never wash it! And my friend got another autograph from him. He signed a lot for the fans. I also saw Linda Cardellini at around that time. Again, my friend got an autograph for me. Believe me guys...she is beautiful!!

Cut to Jo’s PoV

Everyone started chanting Sarah’s name again. It happened around two or three times. She was laughing and smiling and seemed to be loving every minute.

Cut to normal narration

Sarah was still signing away, and was crossing from side to side. She really signed a lot of autographs for the crowds which had built up. Everyone was just going crazy for her. Eventually she got to the escalator and everyone was still shouting her name (not chanting...everyone was just trying to get her attention), and she turned around and was waving....went up the escalator and vanished. Seth was still around for a few minutes and then he went up too.

We decided to try and get some of the posters which had been put up, and which we’d been told could be taken once everyone had gone in for the premiere. We couldn’t get upstairs and then we saw a lift and ran for it. We went upstairs but then this woman sent us back down because we were in a section where you needed a ticket to be. Blah...we weren’t trying to get inside. So Chris Eubank was there, and he got in the lift with us. He was very nice. But then....the lift suddenly stopped and we were trapped. Everyone reacted differently. It was very strange. The alarms were ringing and it was very weird. So anyway, after about 10 minutes they came and opened the doors and we had to jump down...with the help of the two guys who came to get us out. Very surreal. It was even mentioned yesterday in a tabloid newspaper that Chris Eubank got stuck in a lift. No mention of the wonderful people he was stuck with though...

So then we weren’t sure what to do. Would they come back down? Would Sarah go to the after-party?

Cut to Geraldine’s PoV

Jo, Leigh and Sonia had to leave then so it was just Isie and her friend, Agnes and her friend and me... Then, someone gave Isie two tickets to the after-party because they had to leave early! ! ! ! But she had to leave too so she gave them to Agnes, her friend and me... We had no idea if they were gonna let us in ...but there were three of us and we only had two tickets so we started asking people if they had an extra ticket, spent some time speaking with some nice security guy who said if we had the ticket we should get inside easily. After about 10 minutes Agnes’ friend came back with two more tickets ! ! ! So we walked along the green carpet and went into the nightclub. We were very, very excited. We kept our bags and coats at first and went upstairs to get a feel of the place and then we went downstairs again to leave our coats in the cloakroom and on our way downstairs, in the quite dark staircase...we just passed Linda and Matthew and a whole group going upstairs...wow. Then, on our way up again, Tony was standing on a landing with his daughters...

The party was so great...great music, free ice-cream and mini hot-dogs, free drinks, a concert by Big Brovaz was announced onstage by Matthew. Great music. The second floor was actually a VIP space and I guess Linda, Tony, Matthew, Seth and maybe Sarah were all up there. But the Harry Potter stars were dancing right next to us and we basically saw all the people you all saw on the press pictures. We left around midnight because, let’s face it, we were exhausted...and we got to keep our tickets.

Cut to Agnes’ PoV

We have to thank Isie and her friend, Elise. We are just some lucky girls. It was fantastic to see Tony, Linda and Matthew Lillard introducing the band. I saw the girl who plays Hermionne in Harry Potter and the guy who play Malfoy was dancing near us. It was...magic. One of my best nights.
