Ok, I've just figured out who Xander's true love is. Ok, I've know for a long time, but I just wanted to see if people agree or disagree with what I think.
It's Willow. I think that since their little thing in s3, he's been in love with her. Maybe even before that. During their thing, he was very much of the time the one who started it. Like the tickling with the feather or what it was, and Willow's ear and all that. Willow was the one holding back. And maybe that's the reason he didn't try harder to get Cordy back. He stopped very quickly in my opinion. If you can say calling her alot in the beginning is trying...
And it could explain why he didn't marry Anya...He talked to Willow shortly before the wedding started if I remember correct. I'm not saying he didn't love Anya, or Cordy, but that he loved Willow more, and that's why he screwed up.
That's my theory anyway...Anyone else have an opinion about it?

I both agree and disagree...him and Willow have such an amazing friendship which at first I wanted them to be together but I so much adore Xander and Anya, in my opinion they are soulmates!!
I was watching Triangle the other day and it shows Xander has such a great relationship with Willow and such a loving fun and upbeat relationship with Anya that he can't decided between them and he refused to choose between one to be killed. But no, Anya and Xander forever! <3

I think that no matter what happens Willow and Xander will grow old together, either as friend or lovers, that doesn't matter, but the bond between them is so strong it can't be broken.

Completley agree...Willow and Xander couldn't imagine life without eachother now.
Hard to say..I can definitely see them getting old together....But I really think Xander did love Anya

I also think Xander really loved Anya, but maybe he loved Willow more. It's just a theory I have...And I'm pretty sure it's right! lol

Xander and Willow's relationship is so deep and meanful and (lets forget the fact Willow is gay now) them getting togther might ruin that now!

Yeah, maybe...But i just really wonna see them get married or something...But I don't think they'd let anything ruin their friendship.

I don't think Willow is as gay as much as I think she is bi-sexual. The Xander thing, might happen for them down the road as I don't see Kennedy as being "long-term" material. But that all depends on whether they survive the apocalypse from NFA.

I agree that Xander loves Willow, but as a friend or a sister. I have many female friends, but it doesn't mean that I love them more than my fiancee, just in a different way. I love my friends, but I am in love with my fiancee.

As a matter of fact I have, once or twice... lol. We always stopped because we were too good of friends. As Willow and Xander did when they realized what they were doing. They didn't stop because of how it made Cordy and Oz feel, they stopped because they realized that it wasn't what they wanted.

Okay, I had a long speech typed out and I just deleted it all. Mostly because I came to realize that I am not 100% sure WHAT my opinion is on the matter. I do believe Willow and Xander love each other very much. I'm just not sure of the classification of it. Theres such a fine line between platonic love and romantic love.... :idunno:
All this talk of soulmates and true love reminded me of the Dawson's Creek finale (The only episode I ever watched, actually) in which Dawson and Joey are discussing their relationship:
Dawson: ...in some unearthly way it's always gonna be you and me.
Joey: Soul mates.
Dawson: What we have goes beyond friendship, beyond lovers. It's forever.
I think that Xander and Willow have a similar relationship, in that they have so much love for each other and understand each other so well that its impossible to limit it to any particular relationship. I think they are indeed soulmates, but in a way that could never really be purely romantic.
In "The Pack", Xander (possessed by hyenas and locked in the cage) asks Willow why she asked Buffy to leave her alone with him, and she replied that it was because she knew him better. Willow and Xander know each other better than anyone else ever did or ever could--that was why it had to be Xander to save Willow on the bluff in "Grave".
What they have is beyond lovers, byond friendship. What they have is forever.

I think Willow and Xander's friendship is their true relationship, never lovers. I have a friend who okay, we havn't known each other for that long, but we're just as close and I could never see us doing anything because I love the friendship more then I could love a relatioship. Willow and Xander are kinda like Will and Grace, but less hysterical and mad.
I think Cordy and Xander might be good together now (apart from that whole pesky death thing) because they have both grown up. Not saying shes his true love but they might be able to work if she comes back from the dead.

Can't disagree with that...Their eachothers true love. Even if they stay friends, or become lovers somewhere on the way. Wish I had a friend like that!

Can you see them at 90? Both in a home sitting in the corner, still arguing over who kissed who in the factory. Willow floating Jello in the cafeteria, and Buffy down the hall beating a nurse with her walker for getting rid of Mr. Gordo. Xander occasionally still stripping on the lunch tables for some extra jello and a Vicodin! :: jack ::
I can't say I ever thought that much about it. You have a strange little mind, NSlayMode (but in a good way)

I wouldn't say they where each others true love because that implies romantic implications and also taht xander is willows true loves when we all know its tara. They have an unconditional love for each other but only as friends. There thing in series 3 was lust not love and my own personal theory for why that happened is divine intervention i.e. jasmine cant control love so made them lust for one another leading to the breakdown of xander and cordys love relationship meaning it was easier for cordy to go to L.A. because she had noone to stay for

I agree with a lot of people here when I say that I don't think that Willow and Xander have true love between them. I think that they have a platonic love between them, and that's it. Their bond goes way beyond a romantic relationship. I think the Season Three thing was a fluke, they only lusted after each other because they weren't supposed to. The only kissed a couple of times, it doesn't make them soulmates or anything. Forbidden fruit is the sweetest, and all that. I don't think they ever loved each other like that, or ever will. I think Anya was Xander's true love, even though things didn't work out between them. And I think Tara was Willow's true love. But I do think that Willow and Xander will grow old together. :)

In an episode of Babylon 5, one character admitted he loved another, but that it was a spirtual love. I think that is what Xander and Willow have.
They have been friends for so long, they have gone through so much and they would risk their lives and die for each other. They have the perfect loving relationship, but one that could never become physical.
I think they are soulmates in the same way (for those that have read the Anita Blake books) that Anita and Edward are. Without the whole "trying to kill each other" thing.

I think he was lying. He later tried to kill her husband LOL I think it was more lusty than he let on at first LOL. But I do agree that’s what Xander and Willow have, she is kinda gay now.

I rooted for Xander and Willow to get together lots of the time but then I loved Willow and Oz together and when he left I was all..well Xander swoop in and be the knight in shiney armor! And then he got together with Anya and I loved those two together. So now I just see Xander and Willow as being the closest friends of all in the show. And that those two will be best friends, together forever! :D

An interesting concept for sure. To be fair I always thought Xander was much more romantic or sensitive than he was portrayed. But as he was portrayed he never had a soulmate or a true love. He had ignored the love and when he wanted to acknowledge and was about to announce it, he discovered that he had lost it and had a rival and never persuaded it. [Willow] On the otherhand, to the last minute he was beside someone whom rejected it with him long ago and never stalked her like some did and when necessary he gave full support, he was devoted. [Buffy] If Xander had true love, I have two options; Willow and Buffy and since Buffy made it clear that they are an impossible match whereas Willow DİDN'T, I still believe mutual care and devotion is still there in the picture. So, Willow.

I do agree that they have a strong friendship and that will probably remain... although I'm not actually as sure as whether it's as strong as everyone thinks. Course, it's just fanfic, but unintentionally, in my works, Willow and Xander seem to be groing apart, and I don't write this on purpose, it's just something that happens, which makes me wonder whether their bond is unbreakable.
I certainly don't think there's anything romantical (left) between Willow and Xander... they were in their puberty and best friends (f/m) end up falling in love quite often during their puberty... it's just something that happens. I don't read anything more into it.

No doubt in my mind he loved Anya most. But he had a close relationship with Willow, not the kind of love he had with Anya, and he also loved Buffy very much, but also, not like Anya.
I think he really loved Anya only.

as some have said, though some have not, its anya. only anya. she is the one he loves. :: red ::
willow and he had a love, but it was more of a sweet, friends-forever love. he and cordy maybe could've had a love, but she broke up with him too soon, then left, so i dont think what they had had enough time to develop into love. and if she came back after anya, then forget it. he loves anya too much.
I second JustAnnie. I could make a huge post about it, but I'm 100 % sure that Xander's soulmate and true love was Willow, by far. The bad thing was that the romance did not happen, but it could have happened. I think he never really loved Anya.

im not sure i want to admit to thinking it could be possible for xander's true love to be willow, just because i am a full-on xanya shipper and believe they truly loved each other. xander & willow have a really special relationship. they have a history that nobody, not even anya, could touch. they DO love each other unconditionally, but i think that comes from being life-long friends. which is why xander was willing to sacrifice his own life at the end of season 6 we he went up against big bad willow, if it came to that. the problem with xander is that he wants what he can't have... so eventually he'll just move on to something else, but he'll also continue to hold some feelings towards it. so with willow, once their little liaison occurred in s3, he probably kept some romantic interest in her for a while, but that eventually died out
(and i think what i just said above came out as a complete ramble and probably doesnt make sense at all, and probably contradicts itself too. eh, i have too many thoughts to get them all down coherently...)

i agree that will and xander will always be together yeah.. but not romantically. i've always thought that yeah you have soulmates in life but they aren't always sexual/meant to be romantic. i have many friends that i mold to so well that i couldn't bear to live without them. xan and willow definitely are not meant to be apart, ever.

I think if we're talking romantic love, then it was Anya. No doubt in my mind. The things he said to her and about her. That was some powerful love, even if it was a little wacky.
Willow is a very good friend. Like family. I think it very likely that they will grow old together, but not in a romantic sort of way. Like GH's Carly and Jason. Or, like someone else said, Dawson's Creek's Dawson and Joey. In TV land, at least, it is possible to have platonic friends of the opposite sex -- even if you've had a sexual relationship in the past. Sometimes, a relationship reaches a point at which sex would seem almost incestuous. I think Xander and Willow have reached that point.
Dawn? Well, yeah. I can see that. Maybe down the line some when Dawn is older. She could be his next love.
Who says you can only love once? Why can there be only one "true" love? I think it is perfectly possible for Anya to have been his greatest love to date, but for someone else to come along and marry him and have a great relationship. He's young yet, people!

As of yet its Anya, no question, but I agree with what PAL said about him and Willow and I'm still holing out on them bringing Cordy back and them getting a happily ever after!
