hullo Scoobies, (I know. I need to work on my Spike imitation)
anyhoo, I was reading DUSTED about Spike's age and that he's only 126 years old. yet, supposedly Angel turned him in 1880, making him 140 or so. thing is I thought I read that he and PyschoDrusilla were in Prague around 1860-ish, give or take. so if he was, let's say 30ish at that time, he'd actually have been born 1820ish making him closer to 200 (maybe 170ish or so) any comments? :)

Well we know from Season 5 Fool for love that he was sired in 1880 by Drusilla, not Angel as Buffy Season 2 School Hard suggests his sire comment is taken more along the lines of teacher rather than the person actually responsible for his turning, Angel was infact Spike's grandsire, this doesn't quite go with either Season 4's The Initiative where he tells Willow he's only 126 (because he would be 124 in 2004) but its close or Gile's comments in Season 2 where he says Spike is barely 200 but that can be put down to research inaccuracies like those about Angel's age in Season 2 Halloween. Now Tales of the Vampire No 1 (Comic book) has Spike and Dru in Prague, Spike has his leather coat so it is definitely after 1977 when he kills the Slayer Nikki Wood who he got the coat from and the dialogue at the end has them talking about going to the Hellmouth and killing a slayer so it would indicate this is slightly before 1997. I would say that William wasn't any older than Liam (Angel) when he was turned and that was 26 so all in all the human William could have been born as early as 1855 making him nearer 150 by this time but vampire state their age from their siring so 124 would be my best bet for his age. I don't know where you got that he and Drusilla were in prague in 1860, but Drusilla wasn't even a vampire until at least 1860 reference Season 2 Becoming Pt 1 so since Spike was sired by her twenty years later this is a highly unlikely scenario.

Since Spike and Drusilla had arrived in Sunnydale around October 1997, doesn't that mean they were in Prague a few months earlier?
It is also possible that William had been slightly older than Liam when Drusilla sired him in 1880. In "Lies My Parents Told Me", his mother, Anne, seemed to be urging him to find a wife. I think it was common in upper British society for a man to consider matrimony at least around his late 20s or early 30s.

Yes, I would say sometime in 1996- early 1997 they were in Prague. The Graphic Novel Spike & Dru, not a canon source but probably official at least has Spike and Dru driving through America, stopping at St. Louis on the way to Sunnydale and there she is about as strong as she was when she first arrived in Sunnydale and from what she went through even for a vampire that is going to take some time, so while they made there way to Sunnydale they didn't go straight to with no stops.

Late 20s appears to be the age that men married in 1880s but I am not sure I agree that his mother is urging him to find a wife for any reason other than she is concerned about him being alone, it doesn't feel like a pressure thing and William obviously doesn't feel it either from this line
'Well, do not mistake me. I still have hopes that one day there will be an addition to this household, but I will always look after you, mother. This, I promise. '
Honestly I don't think he is any older than Liam was, very possibly the same age though.
And where did you get that his mum is called Anne, I've never seen that before?
