Cordelia
11-18-2004, 12:44 PM
Who belongs with Cordelia?

Xander
11-18-2004, 01:03 PM
Xander. Here's my rundown:

Angel- Okay, don't hate it but to me friendship is where they are
Groo- Worship much? Nice guy though, the eyes kinda scare me and the long hair reminded me of Anthony Kiedis (which is a good thing)
Wesley- Just didn't work, nice friend/hateship though. Them in S1 and 2, classic!

Whereas Xander, full of teenage hate leads to lust thing. Gives hope for "average" guys like me as well.

Jenny

I voted Xander also. They really did care for each other very much. But if I disclude any BtVS Char and just do Angel, it would have to be DOYLE!!!

Emma Caulfield

Xander.

Angel and Cordy never appealed to me and Wes and Cordy were just werid when they were together...and groo? Like Ash said, Worship guy with the creepy eyes!

Angel. They seemed more like a normal couple without the unbearable teenaged-angst of B/A or X/C. At least until the writers screwed it up in Season 4. But "You're Welcome" was a nice comeback.

I would Prob go for Xander but well I think Xander was not that good for Crody I think he was a whole lot better with Ayna so I Voted Angel. I think they just could be gret toghter if given the chance they had the whole frind ship thing going on and I thought it was great. Groo was well as Xander said. Worship much? Nice guy though, the eyes kinda scare me and the long hair reminded me of Anthony Kiedis (which is a good thing) Thats waht I was thinking. Wesley Maybe but Never really thought of Crody and Wesley thay Had a pretty good friendship but It didn't look like it could be more then that. As it did with Angel. I thought if Doyle didn't die That she would be good with him too...

Xander all the way!

The first important thing is:
they started out hating each other, like many people do

Second important thing:
Even though they hated each other they always had this little flirtatish thing between them.

3rd:
They helped each other when had to

4th:
They HAD chemistry, they didnt rush things together. They didnt even sleep together, all they did was either

A. Be lovey dovey
B. Argue
C. Smooch

Frankly they never shouldve broken up or atleast have gotten back together.

Sure you know I totally love Xander and Anya but hey I still love Xander and Cordy about just as much I as love XA.

Her and Groo come in second, nice chemistry, but he his worshipping her would have to stop.

Her and Wesley were like a one time thing, she was intrested in him but after that kiss the spell was broken.

Her and Angel didnt even have good chemistry when they almost got together. Sure they had it in Buffy and first Season of Angel when they were friends but thats where it ends.

Xander cuz suprisingly they had a cute relationship.

DOYLE!!! OK, he was in nine episodes and just when they were going on a date he died *cries* Still, Doyle is the best for Cordy. I'm not gonna move an inch on that... Otherwise I'd like say Wesley... Yeah, I'm a wierd person :p

I don't think I should be voting since I've only seen her with Xander really.. And a little with Doyle.. So I'd say Xander but.. well, I've only seen BtVS and the beginning of Angel..

I was absolutely torn on this. I loved her with Xander, but I also loved Cordy/Angel. I had to go with Cordy/Angel though because Angel is fresher in my mind than buffy (havent seen it in a while). Plus I always remember back on buffy when she had coffee at the Bronze with Angel I remember thinking they would be really cute together.

Cordelia- damn you! You've cursed me with your vision you evil wiccan woman! (J/K) Seriously, three months ago I never gave much thought to Cangel. I tried to avoid the Cangel-y moments of ATS, and told myself I couldn't ship both Cangel and Bangel. Now I do. I forced myself to sit down and WATCH the parts I refused to before, and realized that they had a good freindship before they had anything else. Cordy waited for him, and did alot for him as well. They were good. They weren't Bangel, but they were good. And even though I loved Cander as well, and still do, I think that was....well, high school. And above all I say..... :blah: :winking15

For me there is only one guy for my beloved Cordy. And that guy is undoubtedly Angel.

They were best friends, they were there for and supported each other, they stuck by each other through thick and thin and most importantly they had fun together. She made him smile like no one else could. All Cordy had to do was walk in to the room and Angel's day was better.

And that's why i love them. C/A all the freaking way baby! :D

Though I think Angel was the best candidate, I actually don't think she suited any of them. Call me odd or whatever, but... I don't think it worked. Xander was amusing however...

Wow.. I thought it would have obviously been Xander... But to be fair I've never watched Angel... So I guess my vote is one sided :D

After watching Angel, I've changed my mind. I still love Cordelia with Xander.. But I love the character Cordelia so much more on Angel than on Buffy. So, I've changed my mind and I think she should be with Angel.. I really wanted them to become a couple watching season 3 of Angel. (Hated Groo though, never understood why she liked him so much.)

Angel all the way! I'm such a big C/A fan, it's not even funny. They were so great together, especially towards in season 3. I especially liked them in Tomorrow. They were just so sweet and they had great chemistry.

Groo-well, he's was just too into Cordy. It was really creepy.

Xander-they were cute together, but they had to break up. I never really thought they would last.

Wesley-Okay, that relationship was just wrong. Don't even get me started on it!

Doyle-He was definitely good with Cordy, but they barely had time to know each other before he died. With Angel, they were friends first and they grew into their feelings.

I'm a HUGE no for the Angel/Cordy relationship!! I hate it. They were perfect as friends and their brotherly/sisterly relationship was just ruined

I think Cordy was perfect with Xander and if they'd gotten a chance I think Doyle and Cordy would have been great too!

Definitely Xander. I liked the banter the two had and also the love/hate thing. Angel and Cordy never worked for me because they were better as friends.

Gotta say Angel.

I love most of the characters from both Angel and Buffy and I like most relationships (even Riley/Buffy which in my opinion might be Buffy's best ship, but that's another discussion and Willow/Kennedy). But that's how far it goes I like them, but after intense watching of Angel I have found my favorite ship which is Cordelia/Angel.

Unlike Cordelia/Xander or Buffy/Angel this relationship felt genuine and more than just a bunch of hormones. It wasn't all about intense passion and all of that. Now it was a more slow, but relentless kind of love and I'm a sucker for that type. I mean they weren't just lovers, they were best of friends. Gotta love season 3's Angel and Cordy. Then things became not as nice, but hey after all it's a Whedon show.

I voted other.I have to say, I loved her with Doyle. They seemed to fit perfect!
(please remember this is my opinion!)
Lets see :
Angel : They dont fit together. I mean He and Buffy fit hand and hand.
Xander : He would be my next choice after Doyle, They were very cute. I liked them togteher. But I think they kinda knew it wasnt going to work.
Groo : Cordi was in love with Angel, and evern Groo knew it. I didnt like them together very much. Never really understood why.
Wesley : This was just lust mostly. She was on the rebound. Enough said.

My vote of course goes to Angel. They were the greatest shipper. They made each other happy, and they loved each other. Hell,s he could have led a normal life with out visions, but instead she chose the visions to save Angel from enduring pain.

They were just 100% right for each other.

Groo! I loved his eyes. And he worshiped her, like every women should be. Too bad we didnt get to see more of him. Doyle is a close second though. Even though it never happend. Hes so adorable. And that ghost! I forgot his name. But I think the ghost she used to live with had a thing for her...

I think I liked Cordelia best with Xander.. so cute and funny with the arguing and kissing.

I really liked Angel and Cordelia together, but not as a couple, they should be very good friends in my opinion.

The first time I saw season 3 of Angel I didn't like Groo at all. But I've just seen it again and I really felt sorry for him this time, but I don't think he should be with Cordy anyway, he should find someone that can appreciate him.

And Wesley.. kinda cute in some ways but it doesn't feel very lasting..

I voted Xander, because they were so cute with each other! They bickered like an old married couple! :) How adorable. Maybe if Xander and Willow hadn't of kissed in Lover's Walk, Cordelia never would have went to LA! Who knows...

I also think Angel is good for Cordelia, but in a different way. It's hard to compare BtVS Cordelia and AtS Cordelia. They're so different, even though its the same person. She grew so much. So when she's older, Angel is good for her, but Xander was good for high school Cordelia. I'm not exactly sure if that makes sense, though.

I voted other because Doyle was not on the list. [Why?] Queen C became a champion because of him; his sacrifice had a deep influence on her. He was half Xander and half Angel; he was funny and was brooding. Was a perfect match for her.

I think that Angel and Cordy would've been great together. Which is why Joss had to shake things up to keep them intresting. Like he's said numerous times happy=boring. I would've still loved to see them happy though.

I went with "other", simply because i think one of the most real relationships she had in her life was the one developing with Doyle. Whilst i agree with what they chose to do with his character to a certain degree i will always see Doyle as one of the biggest losses of potential on either series.

Like i said, i get the point that was being made but that doesn't change the fact that Doyle was a great loss to the show, not to mention to Cordy.

No not Xander... i think he and Anya are great together but if Xander had a chance with Cordy (if she didnt leave) then defintely yes... and yep my top choice is Doyle... thats if he didnt die... :( so then Xander would come back to mind.... it would have been so much easier just to say Xander :(

Angel all the way. At first, I was a bit iffy on those two getting together. But really, all you have to do is watch either Waiting in the Wings or You're Welcome and you'll understand the appeal of these two. The whole 'friendship leading up to lovers' thing just makes it that much more tender and real. I really enjoy them together.

I voted for Xander with Cordelia, they had that chemistry of not being together and hating each other until they found a way into eachother's arms during a situation with Bug man. Its the love/hate thing that gets to me.

For me, if I could make any ship, I personally would have loved to see Doyle and Cordy end up together. I thought that he was just so against anything btvs season 1 (or even ats season 1) Cordy would have "gone for" that I would expect, it was great. And I think the two worked off each other hilariously well, and would have made an at times disfunctional, but at the same time balance each other out, as a couple. Although I did like her with Xander as well, I'm definitely more of a Cordy/Doyle fan.

Groo. If not, Doyle (too bad he died too soon) or Xander (though I like him with another; Buffy) even Wesley (I like him with Fred or Lilah but I always got the feeling that Cordy would make a good lover for him); anyone but Angel.

I think it's different when it's a guy that cheats on a girl, they take it to a more personal level, like if a guy ever kissed another girl and I found out, I could never forgive him cuz, it would make me feel like, he didn't want me, and that it was just me, and I think Cordy already thinking "me me me" was probably thinking along those lines...I think Oz just took it as a mistake, and that Willow didn't mean anything by it.

my vote goes to xander! i think they were perfect for each other. they started out as enemies but the scene in what's my line? where they first kissed was hilarious! and, yeah, their relationship was really sweet. they really loved each other and didnt care that not everyone approved of their relationship. xander defended cordy from willow and buffy, and cordelia defended xander from the cordettes. hey, he even did a love spell for her!

cangel? dont think so. they're better off as friends. groo? hate him. and PLEASE dont say wesley, or i may barf.

i went through a cordy/doyle phase when i first watched angel. they were so cute together and he really loved her - but then he had to go and die. damn. anyway, coyle's my second choice after cander.

no, i think it's because cordy's prouder than oz. she would've forgiven xander but her pride (and her humiliation) held her back. to oz, it was only the betrayal. but to cordy, it was the betrayal AND the embaressment.

C/A - Could've been great, but wasn't. As soon as they introduced "kyerumption," everything went downhill, IMO. And Cordy trading in her wonderful b!tch-with-a-heart-of-gold personality for that of a generic female protagonist definitely didn't help. Part of the appeal of this 'ship is that Angel enjoys being the male half of a heterosexual power couple (as we saw with Bangel, and Angel/Darla), which requires hooking up with the alpha female. Cordelia could've been the ultimate alpha female had she retained her style and attitude whilst also making the transition from girl to woman. Sadly, about two-thirds of the way through AtS s3, she lost most of her personality and became a somewhat boring, watered-down version of herself. And since Cordy wasn't as interesting as she should've been at that stage, neither was this 'ship.

C/X - They had their moments, I suppose, but love/hate 'ships don't do much for me. That, and he cheated. And I don't think Cordy was wrong for leaving him permanently. (Though I think it's unfair to say she didn't forgive him. I thought that was the whole point of their subplot in The Prom.)

C/G - He's handsome and adorable and worships her. Too bad he came along at the wrong time in her life.

C/W - They're kinda my guilty pleasure, for the most part, but I do think that their relationship could've become a bigger part of the 'verse, had it been handled right. I especially love the idea of Wes developing an interest in her and trying to help her understand her demonization circa-s3, while her feelings for Angel are just dawning on her. Could've been a great storyline, and would've provided a nice parallel later on, as Wes basically becomes Angel 2.0 and then hooks up with Lilah, who is the evil/shadow version of Cordy.

C/D - They could've been a great couple, too, but I'm more or less content with him dying as early as he did. It's just one of those big things that I could never imagine rewriting.

C/other - Much like Lilah and Faith, Cordy's the sort of character I could pair with practically anybody, if for no other reason that it's HOTT. Which is what fanfiction is for, I suppose.

For me there is only one choice, and that is Angel. We saw them go through all stages of their relationshp from the start, from friends to colleagues and then eventually more, and I bought in to that instantly because I like to be led through a love story from the beginning and watch it develop. I could believe in their story because it seemed natural that two people who were so close and had been through so much together would eventually develop romantic feelings for each other.

I simply adored watcing them fall for each other without even knowing it was happening, it felt like a wonderful privilege that the viewers were allowed to see what the characters weren't for such a long time. I was sure from very early on that Angel was falling in love with Cordy (the latter half of season two solidified that), but she was more of a closed book until Couplet in season three, when she gave Groo a makeover so that he looked just like Angel. That was like a total neon sign to me - subconcsiously her heart lay with Angel and she thought that by making Groo just like him she could love him as she loved Angel. That was when I knew that no matter what else happened they loved each other and I thought it was a very beautiful thing.

Of course what happened later was tragic and a waste of what could have been a wonderful ship, but You're Welcome went some way to healing those wounds, it was a beautifully done and very emotional episode. It just showed how amazing they could have been if Joss had taken the gamble and given them a chance.

C/A all the way.

Groo for sure, then Doyle of course. Xander didnt really do much for me.. and Angel with Cordy seemed forced where it didn't fit. But I'm pretty set in my Bangel ways so Angel with just about anyone else seems wrong to me ;)

i really think cordy was the best with angel. their growth together on angel was really great, and you could just see the love grow between them. it's a shame it never got the chance to work out.

i also liked cordy with xander. but it seemed like all that could ever be was a high school relationship. it never would have lasted between them just because they didn't seem like the type of people that could be in a long-term couple together. (besides, i'm a xanya shipper for life, hehe)

I'm very much for all the original ships! So that means Angel/Buffy, Xander/Cordy and Willow/Oz!! I always loved Cander together. In a perfect world Cordy would never have been infected by Jasmine, we would never have been subjected to the Oedipal madness that was Angel/Cordy/Connor and after Sunnydale fell the Scoobies would have went to L.A. where Xander and Cordy would have lived happily ever after....I know, I know...Denial thy name is Kean!

Hmm...I really can't pick. Except you know *not* Wesley coz Wesley totally belongs with Fred.

I liked the Cangel relationship because of how it developed. It went nicely, like it happened naturally and she helped him through so much and he in return *but* I don't think she belonged with him. I think it was more of a strong familial friendship sometimes touched by romance. Because as much as I do think Bangel should have ended when it did and I am Spuffy fan I can't deny that I just see Buffy and Angel as soul mates so...can't vote for Cangel.

Cander. I loved this couple. They worked so great together. Especially at the very beginning like in Bad Eggs where they insult each other in Health Ed and when making out she tells him its not that can't look at him it's just she doesn't want to. Hehehe. They were great together as a lusty couple that eventually became love.*but* I worship all that is Xanya. So no Cander here.

Wesley- no. no. no. He belongs with Fred! Fred! Fred!

Groo- Such a sweetie. Cordy's prince charming. But way to naive for this world and therefore, no matter how pure or good or sweet, too naive for Cordy.

Damn, who the hell should this girl be with? Maybe it should have been that guy in Prophecy Girl? The one that no matter what he did she couldn't get mad at him because she thought he was so sweet. Maybe the answer lay in him. Too bad he got killed by vampires....

I love Cordy and Angel. I thought they looked great together, interacted well together and they knew each other so well. She never put up with his crap and was not afraid to tell him what was what. they got my vote.

Cordy and xander was incredibly funny but they were not a well matched pair. Xander was too immature and she, i believe, loved him more than he loved her. Xander was still all torn with the Buffy infatuation and the Willow crush and didn't appreiciate that Cordelia considered him 'locker door material'. I loved how Cordy didn't get back together with Xander when she so easily could have. I was like her saying 'nobody treats cordelia chase badly. I deserve the best and i won't take second best!' more women should think that way.

Cordy and Groo - i just never got it. he was just irritating

Cordy and Wesley - so funny but never a serious contender because they were all hot and heavy with the attraction but when they kissed there was nothing.

Cordy and Doyle - had potential. She was really beginning to like him and she realised how much he admired her after he gave her the visions and died.

Keanoite- DOYLE! That was the one I was trying to think of but it just wasn't coming to mind! Yes, Doyle. I think Doyle was perfect. Damn, how could I forget him. I'm with the Doyle fans.

I think they had the potential to be really amazing together. Xander, well, that was teen lust. Connor was, too (zing!). Okay, he was Jasmine's doing. Angel, well, I wish for better for Cordy. I liked their relationship, but a relationship with Angel is always fraught with the will-he-lose-his-soul thing and the dominance issues and the hypocrisy and it just makes me tired and slightly depressed thinking about it. Besides, Angel belongs with Spike. :-) And Groo, well, I liked Groo a lot, but Cordy just liked the way he comshucked. Doyle had a past. And he was sort of offbeat. But he was funny and cute and I think he would have loved her as an equal - not as a subordinate (like Angel) or as a princess (like Groo) and certainly not as a mother figure (like Connor). I think she and Doyle could have had a real relationship -- one that worked on all levels. Which, of course, if why he had to die. Joss declares that no couple can be happy. Martyrdom trumps all!

Oh def. Xander; I loved those two together: that’s when Cordy was the most awesome character. They were hilarious. Her character was destroyed in Angel and as for that pairing never got into it. Angel loved Buffy and always would.

They were hilarious and fun. I really liked them. I guess I just wanted Cordy to have a shot at a normal adult relationship. I don't want her love life to have peaked in high school while dating the self-proclaimed "King of Cretans." Don't got me wrong; I love Xander. I'm just saying we all deserve better than our high school romance.

Keanoite agrees: Don't knock young love so easyily, it may not always work but sometimes it does;)

Sure, it can work out sometimes. But it didn't work out for them. I wanted Cordy to have a relationship that had a chance of working out. Xander and Cordy were never going to work out. They were based on teenage hormones.

I really wasn't a Cordy fan.. ever. But I thought there were a few cute moments between her and Angel in there little thing and in her final episode. So I voted for Angel

I think Angel and Cordelia grew together the way most mature romances do. Both had had their adolescent flings (okay, a two centuries plus vampire could hardly be called adolescent, but, as has been pointed out before, Buffy was probably the first female that Angel had ever been attracted to, and since her attraction was adolescent puppy love, he responded in like manner, much like any middle aged man would respond if he had had no previous experience with romance), and while they loved to look back on it later and fantasize, deep down they both knew that it was exactly that: fantasy. That's what first love almost always is in the end.

Both Angel and Cordelia had to mature before they could realize their real feelings, the kind of feelings that grow into a lasting relationship, and if the show and Cordelia had lasted a couple of years longer, we would have seen the two together in a much more mature, and no doubt intimate (they would've gotten around that curse, I have no doubt whatsoever) manner, perhaps even to the point of a marriage-like partnership. That's what mature love is.

(And before someone asks, Angel went back to Sunnydale in an attempt to recapture something that was no longer there. If Cordelia was still alive at that point, the whole "cookie dough" thing would never have taken place.

In what way was the Buffy/Angel relationship in any way a fantasy? It was hard and painful and very real. If it wasn't real love they would have never have still loved each other after Angelus. Just because it was first love for the both of them doesn't make it any less real...no matter how much you want it to.

First of all Cordy WAS alive at that point , she was just sleeping! and secondly...sure that convo would never have happened if Cordy had been awake, just like it never happened because of how Buffy felt about spike...Oh wait!

You'll have to try harder than that WA!!!

Well, it was a tough choice, but after her last episode on Angel, I think she was best with Angel. I cried so much when Angel found out she was dead!

First of all, the fantasy was that two people can recapture the innocence of their youth after it is a thing of the past. Yes, they still loved each other after Angelus, and I have, believe it or not, no doubt whatsoever that they still loved each other at the end of Season 7 (exhale, Miss K, you're turning blue.) I also have no doubt that they both realized at that last moment that their time was past, hence Buffy's cookie dough speech and Angel's acceptance of her "someday" answer without much protest.

Secondly, you're right, Cordelia wasn't dead, but she was in a coma, not expected to ever recover. Angel had just lost his son and the woman he loved, plus had committed himself to revamping (no pun intended) one of the single most evil organizations on the planet with the help of only a handful of friends. He was at a point of insecurity, and he tried to recapture a less complicated moment and a less demanding relationship. His timing was just lousy. He wanted fresh baked cookies, and Buffy wasn't ready to deliver. Maybe someday she will be. Maybe he'll be the one to get them (exhale...inhale...exhale...come on now, breathe), and maybe not. Only joss and time will tell.

In the meantime, I still think that Angel is the best match for Cordelia. He's the one she loved above all her other men.

Definitely Xander. I'm not big on Cordy 'ships myself, where I really don't care who she's with. But considering I'm a Bangel, I can't see Angel with anyone else (ok maybe some lustiness with Faith) relationship wise. Groo was..well, I was glad Groo was there to keep Cordy and Angel apart but I didn't like the jealousy that was tied in with it. Wesley was really never even an option for me.

But Xander and Cordy were very cute together. Typical highschool cheerleader/outcast type of relationship and it worked really well.

I completely agree with everything you said. Doyle loved Cordelia and believed in her before she had proven herself as a warrier and his sacrifice and gift really helped her grow as a person. I don't hate Cangel like some people, I just feel like to make that work they had to change Cordelia's core character and make her too mature and unselfish almost like a saint (if that makes sense). The Doyle/Cordelia relationship captures what I love most about her character.... a sensitive, brave, outspoken, strong woman with a strong sense of self preservation and a love for shoes.

Angel Angel Angel

To me their relationship epitomized the definition of soul mates. Buffy and Angel never clicked for me because obviously she was the Vampire Slayer and he was a vampire. However, Cordy and Angel evolved naturally. At first she just saw him as a hottie, and he saw her as, well an airhead. But all that changed and evolved and they became best friends. The romance just seemed more genuine to me. Buffy/Angel felt like it was too much for ratings and was far too juvenile and dramatic - plus too idealistic. Xander and Cordy was a relationship of convenience. The romance blossomed from adrenaline, and that never lasts. We never saw them have meaningful conversations or if there were any there was no real connection. For Xander it was always Buffy. Even with Cordy he gave off the vibe that he was just lusting for Buffy. Another juvenile relationship. Also with the opposites dealio. Xander: geek, Cordy: popular. Buffy, Xander, Doyle, Groo - these were all stepping stones to each other for Cordy and Angel. (sidebar- Groo was an obvious cartoonish Angel. Cordy's subconcious at work??)

Cordy and Angel complimented one another. Where he was disconnected, she connected him. Where she was shallow, he deepened her. The relationship developed naturally and it was or could have been a mature and healthy relationship based on genuine love and understanding. And they obviously adored each other even when they didn't know it themselves.

I get so frustrated when I think of Cordy being written off and I blame Joss. While I LOVED her return in You're Welcome, I grew further frustrated because the writers seemed to make the love between them ambiguous. They had it set up where viewers could interpret it either way: platonic or romantic.

For me it was and always will be romantic in the end. Angel and Cordy were soul mates.

Well first of all, CANGEL FOREVER!!!! yeah of course I voted for Angel. Its hard to believe from where they each started, but they both went a long way in all those years and grew together and they so deserved to be happy together *sigh*

I like Cander too, but as we know Cordy was such a different person in high school... at that time Xander was perfect for her and I think having that relationship with Xander, allowing herself to date someone like him (out of her comfort/ popular zone) and be happy and then ultimately go through the very painful break-up and betrayal, largely contributed to the woman she became on Angel. Without Xander she very likely would have remained shallow forever, so I appreciate Cander while it was going on and I thank Xander a million times over for paving the way for Cangel ;)

I do believe Angel and Cordy are soulmates... theirs is like the perfect story of kismet, these two people who meet and are completely wrong for eachother and seemingly have not much effect on eachothers lives... but then they meet again on Angel (FATE) and who knew, they compliment eachother better than anyone that ever came before. They become bestfriends and before they themselves realize how it happened they fall in love like it was just the most natural state of being for them, and if it hadn't been for stupid Skip they would have met and declared their love for eachother. I know you all remember how freakishly happy Angel was just at the prospect of that meeting between him and Cordy. He loved her. She loved him. Their potential was cut tragically short but from all that we see through the show, especially S3, Angel's actions and attempts to get Cordy back in S4 and Cordy's brief return in S5 I will go ahead and take a stand and say that were Cordy alive and Angel was presented with a choice between Cordy and Buffy, he would choose Cordelia and I don't even think the choice would be all that hard for him.

Angel. I am not saying this to get Bangel out of sight, but they really fit together. Cordy grew along the series and evolved to the more rational voice of Angel. She saw things when he was in denial, and she really deeply loved him. Along the road Angel realized that he too felt something that was more than friendship, but Mr. Broody wasn't quick enough. When he finally got to terms with it, it was too late :(
