Every quarter (at the moment) we give members the chance to vote for their favourite fellow members in various different categories (for example - fic writers, best new member, funniest member etc.) Previous winners can be seen HERE (http://www.buffy-boards.com/showthread.php?t=17334)
Shortly, I will be announcing the award categories for the next quarter and inviting members to nominate their favourites. The most popular will then take part in polls to see who wins the award. It's only for fun and the chance to win a shiny button to place in your sig (see the one in mine from the last awards)
If you need to know anything else drop me a PM :)

That's awesome! I've never been at a board that had those.
Sadly, I've never been fortunate enough to win an award! But hey, I'm still new. So it's okay
Mr. Pointy: we must PM you, right?. Or somebody else...?

Yup - PM me with your nominations and then they will go forward to the award polls at the beginning of April - provided the nominees accept of course.

Yup, I'll be posting the categories and asking for nominations to me via PM when I've finished going through the new posts...so in about 15 mins :)
All done - see HERE (http://www.buffy-boards.com/showthread.php?t=20582)

The Awards Polls have now been posted in the Social Studies forum ( HERE (http://www.buffy-boards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=9)). The polls will be open for two weeks, so get voting...so much more interesting than the UK General Election ;)
Mr. Pointy

Apologies for the delay in announcing this quarter's award winners but real life has a way of intruding...
Anyhoo, without further ado, here are the winners of the current awards -
Sunnydale Art Gallery - EDB
Best New Scooby - Amber Benson
Storyteller - "Blood Bound" by Jaded
Giles - nerd4hire
Li'l Pumpkin Belly - Angel's Watcher
Class Protector - Elmo
Also, it is my pleasure to announce that we have a special award this time (which may be awarded again on an occasional basis) - The Chosen One.This has been voted for by the BB staff and is awarded to a member who we feel has made a good, positive contribution to the boards. That member, for this quarter, is Kindred
So well done to everyone who won, comiserations to those who didn't win and big thanks to all who voted. Your respective award buttons should have already been added to your sigs.
I think that this has been much more interesting than the UK General Election - vote in that and all you get are bloody politicians ;)

Congratulations to every one who one! I totally agree with those who did win! And this was a fun election. Even though I don't live in Europe and don't know about their election.... I will agree that this was great! Much better people and categories to vote in.

Well, there are a couple of reasons for the lack of awards over the last few months. Firstly, I have had a few things to deal with in real life (now pretty much resolved), which meant I couldn't spend as much time on the BB as I would've liked. As a result, the awards thing kind of dropped off the edge so I could carry on with other modding stuff. Secondly, there was a general feeling that I picked up from the staff that the awards should be run less frequently, which would make them more special (other mods - please feel free to let me know if this is no longer the case).
If there is sufficient demand from the members then the awards will return...I have been toying with the idea of running a Christmas/New Year BB awards now that my work situation has improved...what do you guys think?

I say that whenever you have the time to do the awards, then go ahead Mr. P. We haven't had them in a while, and it's always fun. Maybe to kick off 2006.........

Because of my usual extended comings and goings around here i've managed to miss pretty much all the awards since i first joined the board so it would be nice to actually get to see one go ahead now that i'm around more regularly.

So yes you missed a lot ;)

Mr. Pointy, I love the awards.
Take your time, I personaly don't care how long it takes.
I love voting, I don't even care if I get nominated, not that I have or probably will ever be.
I love the idea of a Christmas/New Year BB awards. Keep up the good work.

Yeah well first of all before we have nominees we need to have nominations and before that we need categories to nominate people in, so if everyone just slows down a lil bit I'm sure Mr P and the mods will make everything very clear.

What's Corma?
It's this Indian dish, sorta like a curry only a bit more...smooth and creamy, with coconut milk in it ;)
or possibly a two-headed mod-freak that was let lose and was ravaging the boards a while back :P
Either way it's all very frightening. mhm.

What's Corma?
Oh don't get them started, trust me, not a good idea ;)
OH!! i love Corma!!
Corma to win!!
;)
Mr. Pointy
11-28-2005, 06:18 PM
Korma - a beginner's curry
Corma - two-headed mod monster we should all be frightened about...
Once we have decided the award categories I will ask for nominations, then I will post a poll for each category and finally the winners will be announced, apparently in a ceremony to rival Oscar night...
I will post more details here when the arrangements have been finalised.

Hey now! That's not the kind of attitude we like to see here at Smile Time! C'mon now, everbody sing it with me:
Self-esteem is for everybody
Self-esteem is for everyone
You can dream and be anybody,
but self-esteem is how you get it done
You are a beautiful and unique snowflake, and don't let Tyler Durden tell you any differently.

*kiss on cheek* awww, your so sweet.
don't forget to nominate people when the time comes.
with that attitude we'll have like 10 people nominated for every category.
