Best Angel Season 1 Episode?

As far as debut seasons go, this one was extremely well put together. With about as many crossovers as Oz had hair changes, this season had many memorable episodes. My favorites include Rm w/ a Vu, I Will Remember You, Hero, Five by Five, and To Shanshu in LA. However, I'm going to have to give my vote to War Zone. The whole Gunn/Alana storyline was extremely heartfelt. I liked how they sort of tricked the audience into thinking that Gunn was going to die, but then it was her. Was I the only one that thought that? Hmm, anyway. Your turn.

I coudln't decide between Five By Five and Santuary, but chose Five By Five, definitely love both those episodes though. But to be honest, I haven't seen all the Angel season one episodes, not the end of the season so I wouldn't know if they're any good... But gotta love the Faith episodes 'cause they're friggin great...

I have to pick Parting Gifts, for a couple of reasons.
First the enrance of the Rogue Demon Hunter, Mr Wesley Wyndam-Price.
I think its his finest piece of work in the first season.
The reason i pick this over the episode, Heroes, is because this one allows us, and the characters, to truly comprehend what Doyle did, why he did it and what that means for the group in general.

Hero is most definitely my favorite episode of AtS season 1, it's so sad, but perfect at the same time. I know a lot of people love I Will Remember You, but that's actually one of my least favorite episodes...weird. :)

I think that Faith's appearances in "Five By Five" and "Sanctuary", along with "The Bachelor Party", "Rm w/a View" and "Prodigal", are the best of Season 1.

I Will Remember You, of course. I cried at the end. I love Bangel and that was one of the best Bangel episodes ever. Plus, it was the last episode before Doyle died, and that made it even more special.

I actually dislike I Will Remember you. Going back in time always seems like such a cheap ending to me. And how come Angel doesn't want to be human now but gets all happy about the Shanshu later on? Plus I never really liked Buffy the character.

I love the ending to Hero, Doyle's death is a great moment. But the thing that lets the episode down for me is that the bad guys are so obviously a metaphor to Nazis, even down to the uniforms.

So I voted Five by Five as my favourite, although its really a toss up between the two Faith eps. It's such a perfect end to her character (for now), and I love seeing Buffy put down. Faith is awesome ;)

I said Hero. This episode was just done woderfully. Doyle's sacrafice was a great act. Allowing Angel to keep on fighting, it gave me great respect for Doyle. And the episode as well. But Parting Gifts was a close second.

I can't pick just one. I love In the Dark. Spike was great in that episode. I Will Remember You is another great ep. I loved the end where Buffy tells Angel she'll never forget. Hero is an amazing episode. Doyle's sacrifice was so unexpected. I never thought he would do that. I also love Parting Gifts. Cordelia getting her first vision was hilarious. Especially when she explains it to Angel. Both faith episodes are great too. I loved Eliza in those. To Shanshu in LA is a very good season finale. Isn't it weird that for BtVS and AtS in that season the villians try to take out the hero's circle of friends? Adam had Spike try to seperate the scoobies and Vocah tried to to take out Wesley and Cordelia. Anyway, season 1 was a great season.

the toss up for me was between IWRY, hero, and sanctuary.....i loved bangel during its time but i like cangel more...so i didnt pick that one....i hate when people die and sad emotions.....so i didnt pick that one....i love faith and loved seeing angel take her side....so i picked that one....:)

I absoloutly LOVED "I Will Remember You", it was probably one of my favourite episodes in either shows, but I actually ended up picking "Hero". This was another one of my favourites, and because it was the last time we saw one of my favourite characters (Doyle). It was a really well-written episode I thought, and probably made me tear up even more than IWRY.

I voted for Five by Five, but I also liked Sanctuary. The main reason for my choice, was that I liked Faith's breakdown at the end...I've said this before in another thread, but it took her character to another whole new level.

I voted for To Shanshu In LA. This episode has so many great moments. Angel realized that there are people he cares about and that care about him, the shanshu gives him hope that his mission has a meaning. He finds out that Cordelia is more than a mere co-worker to him but a deep felt friend, link to humanity and important for his mission. When she and Wes are in danger because of him he finally notices how much they mean to him and how he needs them .. that they have become a family. TSILA mangages to end the season on a positive note and has a serious cliffhanger. Well done David Greenwalt!

And Angel did want to be human in IWRY but he realizes that he doesn't belong to himself, but in the world, fighting. He is excited about the Shanshu because it not only means that he becomes human but it means forgiveness and redemption of his soul, the one thing he wishes for the most.

I voted for Hero, because Doyle was an awesome character, my favorite actually. And the way he went out was the epidemy (sp?????) of what Angel was always about. Saving these people this time was Doyles way to get redemption, and it was totally selfless, especially since he had just gotten what he wanted and gave it up to save someone else. Which is what Angel has always been about, Sacrafice, and this was the first one, (that everyone remembered) in Angel. Cus yes Angel did sacrafice his happiness for Buffy in I will Remember You. But No one knew about it, and it was really sad that that happened. I loved that ep as well, but in the end I had to go with Hero.

The crossover episodes were my favourites. Sanctuary being my personal favourite, if not only for this season, the entire series.

I chose Rm w/a Vu. I don't really consider it to be the best episode of the season, though, so much as it's just a personal favorite of mine. Watching that ep for the first time made me realize how awesome Cordy is and how much I'd under-estimated her before then. Since then, she's been a favorite of mine all because of her "the b!tch is back" moment.

Well, I had to choose between Sanctuary and I Will Remember You. I chose IWRY. I love the Faith crossover in FBF and S, but nothing beats the heartbreaking beauty of IWRY. I love the B/A kiss in the sunlight, the ice cream in bed scene, and, of course, the tragic "I'll never forget" scene. Even though I knew it had to happen, it broke my heart when Angel gave up his mortality. After seeing Angel and Buffy finally happy together without him losing his soul, it was wretched to have to let that go. As a true Bangel, this episode truly breaks my heart. But, as a fan of heartbreak, it is one of my favorite episodes of both series'.

I didn't enjoy season one a lot when watching on tv, I think mostly because it was on late over here and I was in denial about Angel leaving Buffy. However when I watched it on dvd I love a lot of the episodes now... but I voted for I Will Remember You, I still cry when they're saying goodbye. :(

Never liked IWRY that much, because I was never a big fan of Bangel. It was tough picking one particular episode as my favorite, because there were some damn good ones, TSILA, 5x5, Sanctuary, Rm w/ a VU, and Blind Date were all amazing eps. I sided with Sanctuary though because I thought it was the first Angel episode that REALLY nailed what the show could be. Plus, it ha Angel standing up to Buffy.

So chilling, I thought lindsey was going to get caught every single second he was there very impressive that he didn't ^_^

But, my favorite would be "Five By Five". First off, Faith is one of my favorite characters and her kicking ass is amazing! I love it very, very much! The fight was great and the scene is the alley is so emotional and fantastic! Eliza deserves an emmy for that one scene. Everything was top notch: one of my favorites in the whole season.

Was it just me, or did that person that wrote this episode never come back? Was it a one shot deal, like Ty King in Buffy? Hmm.....

1 favorite is really hard. My top 3 (in no particular order) is In The Dark, Hero, and The Ring. I thought The Ring was great actually, and somewhat underrated.

In The Dark had great appearances by Spike and Oz... and i loved Oz's lines! And him crashing into the warehouse with his van and two crossbows drawn... woot! And the whole ending is great banter between Angel and Doyle.

And of course, Hero, enough said.

I Will Remember You is definitely my favorite - as many times as I've seen that ep, I still can't watch it without completely losing it during the goodbye scene.

*Parting Gifts - Wes turned out to be(one of, if not) my favorite character of the series, so I loved his intro
*In the Dark - great crossover ep with Spike
*City Of.. - great intro to the series
*Five by Five & Sanctuary - great crossovers, and Faith finally deciding to accept her journey toward redemption

Best overall episode I voted "I Will Remember You." It tells a great story and at the end leaves Angel a much different character in the audience's eyes.

"somnambulism" is another word for "sleepwalking." so it's referring to the fact that cordelia and wesley and angel thought angel might be killing the people in his sleep. so "somnambulist" = "sleepwalker"

and "she" is hilarious!
