Who did you want Cordy to end up w/ Angel or Groo?

i liked Groo but not for her. i think angel and cordy made a good couple but i felt bad for both angel and groo in this season

I think Angel and Cordelia are way better together than Cordelia and Groo. I didn't really like Groo, he was sort of creepy and was way too obsessed with Cordelia. Angel and Cordelia, though, get along so well.

Angel and Cordy all the way... I *hate* Gro he's like Riley (in my friend's hatered) in my world of wanting Angel and Cordy together.

Wow, Groo is just like Riley, I just realized that! I don't like either of them. Angel and Cordelia understand each other, and would make a way better couple than Cordelia and Groo. Ick.

Groo, Cordy was better with him, had more chemistry and made a good couple. And it wouldve been great to see his charecter develop more.

I think I really preferred Angel/Cordy. They had a different relationship that really did not follow some of the twisted junk that some of the other relationships had. Yeah, of course they were destined to never actually be together, but I'm not focusing on that issue :)

I didn't want to see Angel and Cordy end up together. I don't really know why though. As far as Groo goes I didn't have a problem with him at all. I agree with the Riley comparisons but I actually liked Riley. It would have been very interesting to see more of Groo and see more of what made him tick, besides his Princess.

I used to want Angel and Cordy to get together, but now I'm glad that they didn't ever really do that, it might have screwed up their releationship totally and that's not something I want..

The first time I watched it I didn't like Groo much, but on the re-watch I really started to feel sorry for him, he and Cordy wasn't on the same wavelength and it seemed to make him sad. Don't think they would be making eachother happy...

Gotta say I really didn't like Groo, and still don't. He was a pretty boring character in my opinion, really pointless... Not that I'm a huge Angel/Cordelia fan but, like that ship way better and for a while there I really wanted them to be together..

Groo. Definitely Groo. Anybody who knows me knows that I hated the whole Angel/Cordy, Buffy/Spike thing and I would've rather Cordy be with anybody but Angel. Its just too weird and not right. (In my opinion, of course, no flame people! LOL)

I never, ever agreed with the Angel/Cordy relationship so I would have to say Groo. Though, as someone said, I still think Cordelia and Doyle was the best for her....he would have treated her so good......more love than worship, like Groo. :sigh: If only....

That one doesn't count to me since, technically, she was still in the hospital and it was only the PTB that were allowing her one last day with Angel before she died. I was SO sad at the end of that ep, when I realized Angel was hearing that Cordy had died without ever waking up.......I cried!

It counts to me because, even if that wasn't her real physical body, it was really Cordelia. I cried too.

I guess I wanted them to get together so badly, I was even more dissappointed than usual when it turned out to be a one shot deal and then she was gone. So now, even tho I love that epi, I still just think of it as "one of those things" and not real, you know? And I get sad every time, even tho I've seen it 4 or 5 times now.......

Yeah but I think Angel and Buffy make the best couple he was her true love and she was his. I mean Cordy was happy to see him, and she liked him alot and he liked her, he took a chance on love. So he found her. Thats what makes it sweet. They had chemistry in Pylea and he took a chance on that it was romantic.

Apart from the fact that I am a die-hard C/A shipper, I think Groo wasn't the right person for Cordelia:

Groo would have perfectly well fit with the old Cordelia ... a boyfriend that was devoted to her, even worshipped her, thought her flawless, acknowledge her for her beauty and could even see the warmth in her heart. But that would not be enough for the new Cordelia, the one that found her purpose in life, was very well capable of taking care of herself and needed to be challenged.

When she came back from her vacation it was obvious that there already were slightly annoyed by his overprotecting and naive behaviour. Groo would have needed to change a lot in order to keep Cordelia happy. She confessed to Angel that part of her motivation to become involved with Groo was that she felt tired of being alone. She knew the chances to actually meet someone who can stand the life she was living were very slim and she took it when it was presented to her.

But all in all I found Groo was kind of a surrogate Angel for her, a champion, who she did admire for his strength, his courage, his kindness and the goodness in his heart, all traits she praises in Angel as well. But since she never allowed herself to see Angel in a sexual way because of his curse, she re-directed her feelings towards Groo. But though he was sweet in a very naive, child-like kind of way he never came near to understand her like Angel did, who provided her with her purpose in life and cared for her without actually diminishing her abilities.

I think Groo was sweet but i did not see any chemistry coming from Cordy in their relationship, he was obviously smitten by her but i think Cordy's heart belonged to Angel and i think deep down inside she knew she could not be happy with anyone but.

Groo is a really great guy. Very nice, but I will always love Angel more. But because of Angels handicapp...Groo was best for Cordy. But I was not gunning for their relationship because of the obvious feelings between her and Angel. So, even tho I think Groo is awesome, it would have to be Angel.

It was just something about Groo that made me not like him.

I guess it was because at the end of "Waiting in the Wings" Angel is about to actually talk to Cordy and then Groo showed up! And it ruined Angel's chances with her.

Overall I would have to say Angel. I know they couldn't have a very, um, touchy relationship with each other (if you know what I mean and I hope you do), but to me they seemed like they really loved each other.

if i HAD to pick i'd say angel, purely because by the time AtS got into full swing, they seemed to have a nice rhythm together and they did seem to make each other happy and want to be themselves with each other
and i agree with the people who said Groo was a bit creepy - the eyes and the absolute adoration was all a bit much IMO

I agree with Faithy, I think after watching the changes that Cordy went through that Angel and Cordy would have made a much better couple than her and Groo. Groo worshipped her, Angel cared about her, if that makes sense.

I agree with all of this.

BUT... apart from all of that, I liked Groo. I would have liked for him to have stayed on with the gang. He was sort of like Angel's answer to Anya.

Also, there's the whole no sex thing with Angel. I mean, I don't think either relationship was exactly right for Cordy. Angel has his flaws, too. He's controlling and judgmental and hypocritical and if you make him too happy, he might just eat you. That is certainly challenging, but I don't know if it's something I'd wish on Cody as a desirable dating situation.

Honestly, I think I liked her best with Doyle. They never got to find out if that would have worked. That makes me sad because, really, I think it could have worked better than any of Cordy's other potential pairings.

Angel, by far!

I actually loved Cangel because they have such great chemistry. I didn't like Groo. His relationship felt so forced and unneeded. They just wanted a triangle. But, I'm really glad they explored his character a bit more, with him realizing Cordelia never loved him.

But, ultimately, Angel....all the way.

I liked Dolye but I'm not sure that we have much of an indication of how they might have worked as a couple. The beginnings seemed nice though.

However Angel and Cordy knew each other a little better and got to the stage where they were comfortable enough to finish each other's sentences.

Angel does have his flaws however so does Cordy and everyone for that matter but I agree about the curse though. This was biggest problem for me. If that's the reason he broke up with Buffy, how would things be different with Cordy?

Interestingly enough it was funny how out of touch Cordy was with her feelings. She seemed to see Angel as a 'eunuch' and goes for a guy who is very different from Angel, open and emotionally available.

I think the curse would have been different with Cordy for the simple fact that she wasn't Buffy. Like Wesley said the probability of finding perfect happiness with one person is....I can't even do that kind of maths! It would be pretty much impossible to find it with somebody else. It was pretty much proven that he doesn't reach true happiness with Cordy when the shaman did the the spell. It was Buffy he was thinking about, her name that he said, it was only then that he lost the soul.

As much as I hate to admitt it, Angel did love Cordy but she wasn't the ONE, she was his best friend with nearly benefits!

Kana
12-04-2007, 12:34 PM
This was kind of a difficult one because although he said Buffy's name, he was still with Cordelia when in the fantasy. If the fantasy was real then being with Cordy would have made him perfectly happy.

Why say Buffy's name?

It's theory time!!!!

1) It could be that maybe Cordy doesn't define perfect happiness for him and on some level it's always about Buffy. On a conscious level he loves Cordy but subconsciously he still loves Buffy.

2) A popular theory amongst Cangel fans is that Cordy was Angel's ideal of happiness. He had his moment with her but then when he tried to stop himself and this is when he remembered how he lost his soul with Buffy. It would be distressing finding out you were losing your soul therefore he wouldn't be happy at that moment (the moment he said Buffy's name), it was moment just before when the curse was set off when he was in the moment with Cordy.

Both theories are acceptable as far as I'm concerned and neither ally my fears that if he was with Cordy it would be a danger, especially around the end of Season 3 time. If everything worked out then it would be kind of scary. Fred was right to check. lol.

Keanoite
12-04-2007, 12:46 PM
I still think it was Buffy that triggered it and my theory is this...When Angel lost his soul with Buffy he had no idea about the loophole but he did with Cordy. Angel left Buffy because he was scared about losing his soul, which in fairness I think was imminent (well in my opinion anyway...all that other stuff was rubbish!). He actively pursued a relationship with Cordelia, and I think he did this cuz 1) he cared about her 2) It's Cordy! I mean who doesn't love her and finally and most importantly 3) he knew he wouldn't lose his soul because while he loved her dearly she wasn't perfect happiness.

Kana
12-05-2007, 08:03 AM
I think it could go either way. It was never expressed that Cordy wasn't his definition of bliss (once he realised her loved her). Angel worried about his curse with Nina for crying out loud, so it's fair to say it's something he worries about in any relationship.

In the fantasy, Buffy wasn't there so not seeing her but being with second best makes him happy? That's my main complaint with that theory.

I dont reallly like Groo but if it came to one of them being with Cordy i would definetly choose Groo to be her because if Buffy and Angel cant be together then why should Cordy and Angel be together because it could have just ended the same way as it did with Buffy which would not be good. Overall Angel definetly!

Well, I'm torn between the two. I loved how devoted Groo and Cordy seemed to each other, it was almost like they were kinda sorta meant to be. But then the whole Angel thing happened and the two of them just seemed so perfect to each other. I was heartbroken for Groo and I also kind of fell in love with him. I mean, here he came from another dimension, one completely foreign to him to be with the woman he loved, then it turns out that she couldn't love him as he wanted her to and he was able to give up on his happiness in order for her to be happy. That is just about the sweetest thing ever....

Note: What ever happened to Groo? I can't help but think that he would have been a HUGE help at that final batte in the finale.... but I didnt do season 6 yet so I dont know if thats resolved there lol.

I always liked Groo with Cordy, funny, cute and sexy.
Angel with Cordy could just never get into.. seemed too much like brother and sister, not sure why. I felt bad for their characters.. but any Cordy/Angel scenes still make me really uncomfortable :p

And it's been speculated that he'll (Groo) be in After the Fall.. but not sure yet.

Cordelia Chase was, if nothing else, a happy, effervescent person who deserved someone who could love her, make her laugh, and share the joy of life with her every single day. That is in no way Angel. Whether it is Groo or not, I am not absolutely certain, but he is light years ahead of Ol' Broody in this respect, so, given only those two choices, I could never burden Cordy with Angel. Groo and Cordy would be my pick.

I totally agree. I'm glad they never got together, it would have seemed like anyone could get together if they were just in the same place at the same time. They make better friends. I feel the same about Buffy and Xander.

i was NOT a cangel fan when i first saw this aired. I just got through season 3, and my heart absolutely broke for Groo, but i sort of smiled during the last episode with the whole Cordy/Angel thing, which threw me, since i remembered hating the idea.

STill... Groo was so...sweet... and loyal... and an amazing man to give her up because he knew she loved Angel. Seriously, heart=broken for him.

I'm a Cangel fan ^^ They look so cute together. They were very good friends but it's obvious they were meant to be together. And why would that ruin their friendship? And i don't like Groo =/

I liked Groo...for just himself, he's a nice guy and I didn't want him dead or anything. And, I think he'd ROCK with someone like Gwen.
But, I HATED him for Cordy. She's FAR to edgy for someone so....white bread.

I LOVED her with Angel though. They made each other "softer" and it was touching.

Pssh, Cangel, all the way! Although initially, I thought, "Ye gads! No! Bangel forever!", by the middle of season 3, I was a 100% certified Cangel. In spite of the fact that I loved Groo as a character, since he was very funny and cute, I didn't like him with Cordelia. As others have said, he was far too bland for her; she needed someone a bit more exciting, like, oh, say, Angel! Even though my heart broke for poor Groo, I was thrilled to see Angel and Cordelia ready to confess their love for each other...but then, Connor had to ruin it. *sigh*

i liked the whole cangel thing going on for 2 reasons. 1. the relationship was building up for a long time so it was nice when it did kindda happen.

2. its was nice to see angel fall in love with some one other than buffy

I was jealous of Groo right along with Angel, Angel and Cordy were the best and Angel and Cordy get my vote over Angel and Buffy as well.

Groo sux, I know, but Angel/Cordy sux too... Just cant understand how people like it lol. They are friends, best friends every, like family, brotherhood and all, not lovers eww

Cordy had to be with Doyle, he was different from her, but in a good way.
