ok, for those of you who have seen 'Firefly' I wanna know which is your favorite ep?
My fave has got to be 'Out of Gas' I just think it's such a great story. i love the bit at the end, when Mal decides to sleep, then looks at them all and asks if they're all still gonna be there when he wakes up. it's so sweet!
Oh, and the last scene, where Mal is gazing at Serenity in the junkyard...that is such an emotional scene for me!!
so come on, guys!! what's your favorite ep?

Well, I'm boring, I would say Serenity or Objects in Space. But I'm not sure actually. I'd have to see the show again to really be able to choose. All I know is that I love the show even more now when I've seen the movie...

Objects in space, cause its a River-centric episode! but serioulsy, it's hard to pic one.

I chose Jaynestown, not because it's the quality of the series (personally I'd say Objects in Space for that title), but just because Jaynestown is the one I'll watch over and over again.

Ugh, I can't pic just one!! If I have to, I have to go with Our Mrs. Reynolds, but I also love Objects in Space, Ariel, Jaynestown and Serenity.

Out of Gas. Great story and artistically excellent, gotta love it.

It's so hard to pick just one! But I'd have to say Out of Gas, followed very closely by Ariel and Objects in Space.

I don't think I can really pick a favorite episode but I do have a couple of favorite scenes. One that immediately comes to me is the beginning scene from Our Mrs. Reynolds. Where Mal and Jayne are dressed up as man and wife in a covered wagon and the conversation that goes a little like this:

BANDIT 1
Pardon me for intruding, but I
believe y'all are carrying something of mine.

The Farmer doesn't lift his head, barely whispers:

FARMER
T'ain't your'n.

BANDIT 1
(pissed)
You talking words to me? You
< steaming crap pile >, you gonna mouth
off after what you done? Did you
think we wouldn't find out you
changed your route? You're gonna
give us what due us and every damn
thing else on that boat, and I think
maybe you're gonna give me a little
one-on-one time with the Mrs.

The Farmer lifts his head - it's JAYNE, smiling.

JAYNE
You might wanna reconsider that last
part. I married me a powerful ugly
creature.

MAL looks up from under his bonnet, shocked.

MAL
How can you say that? How can you
shame me in front of new people?

JAYNE
If I could make you prettier, I would.

MAL
You're not the man I met a year ago.

Over this is the extreme confusion of BANDIT 1, who finally gets pissed enough to go for his gun -

- and Mal and Jayne, in mid-spat, raise theirs first, targeting 1 and 2.

MAL
Think very hard. You been
birddoggin' this township a while
now, and they wouldn't mind a corpse
of you. Now you could luxuriate in
a nice jail cell but if your hand
touches metal, I swear by my pretty
floral bonnet I will end you.

That cracks me up everytime...LOL.

I think my absolute favorite is Heart of Gold (Mal's love scene does it for me....that's what puts HOG over the top!) but I love Our Mrs. Reynolds, Ariel, Trash and Serenity, too. They all have something in them I like!

Anita, i LOVE that scene! it's one of my faves of the show!!
i also love the one between River and Mal at the end of Objest in Space...in fact, i love any scene with Mal and River...especially the last scene of the movie!

Buffy Summers

I'm going to say War Stories - that was the one where I really started liking Zoe. And Mal and Wash getting tortured and bantering. Just a cool cool ep I thought.

And Mal and Wash getting tortured and bantering. Just a cool cool ep I thought.I liked that one, too. The end was so funny, when Mal says to Zoe that Wash insists they go have sex now.......LOL! The look on Wash's face was priceless! I also liked when Zoe had to pick one of them and with no hesitation at all (Niska didn't even have time to get the whole sentence out!) she picks Wash......Awwwww, so sweet!

i love Janye's line in that scene as he walks in on Mal and Zoe

'Something about that's just downright unsettling' (i think that's right!)

I love Jaynestown. I think I've seen that well over 20 times and yet I can watch it more. The song is priceless. Everything about that episode is great. Jayne is one of the best characters in the series, the one you don't know what he's going to do next, minus River. It's great.

I'm a new comer to Firefly, I just watched the entire season yesterday for the first time, and WOW it was amazing I love River's character she is so brilliant and fascinating so for that reason I choose Objects in Space, I loved it! My next would be Ariel, I think thats right thats the one where they robbed the hospital right? I though that ep was so cool.

I know. Its not only the lines, its all the looks on their faces. Has anyone else noticed how whenever Mal says something 'smart' he always has the "Who me?" look on his face. He tries to look so innocent. And I also love that they all sound as if they could be from Texas or the South. That's great. Its sort of a Sci-fi western. LOL.

Another quote I like is Wash's quote from Serenity: "Nobody's saying that. Nobody but Jayne is saying that." LOL. That cracked me up.

I'm not a big fan of Jayne, but Janynestown was HILLARIOUS. I thought Simon was sooo funny in this one too, if it weren't for that ep, I would still hate Simon

How can you not love Jaynestown.

For me it's a tie between out of gas and Serenity but I voted for serenity cause it came first. Also the dinosaur scene was hilarious

I loved all FF episodes, but my favourite would be Out Of Gas! It just has everything ... suspense, action, fun and heartbreaking moments. I love how the flashbacks of how the crew found together were alternated with Mals desperate fight to fix Serenity and that both of the shuttle crews decided to come back on their own, no matter what.

When Mal asks them at the end if they all will still be there when he wakes up again .. it gets me every time :)

I must say that it's Jaynestown. The folklore and song was just plain hilarious.
Especially since Jayne is so "hardcore" and almost completely opposite of what they portray him as.

I can't pick one - there's not enough to choose from! All great episodes, the film was amazing too, just wish we had a second season and more....

My favorite episode of Firefly is War Stories, hands down. As a huge fan of the Wash/Zoe relationship, War Stories, of course, is my fav. I love the entire episode, but highlights include:
"There's plenty orders of mine that she didn't follow." Mal
"Name one!" Wash
"She married you!"

And, of course, the best scene of the episode, and perhaps, the best in the series:
Mal, Zoe, and Wash (and Jayne) at the end of the episode.
"Take me sir. Take me hard." Zoe
"Now something about that is just downright unsettling." Jayne
"We'll be in our bunk." Wash, whisking Zoe away

War Stories by infinity and one. I just love it for an irrelevant reason. (Maybe because it's like, one of the 3 episodes I've seen)

My favourite episode is Out of Gas, it's awesome. The ending is great, the episode makes me love Serenity (the ship).

I think its easier to say which episode isn't as good as the others, as I love all of them so much for different reasons. I find only 'The Message' lacking compared to the others and even it isn't bad at all. But I guess the 4 eps I have watched more then the others is 'Serenity', 'Out of Gas', 'Trash', & 'Objects in Space'. 'Ariel' would take 5th slot then 'Our Mrs. Reynolds'.

For character development, War Stories.
For the funny? Our Mrs. Reynolds. Two words:Special. Hell.

That episode rocks to.. oh wait they all rock. It's weird that I enjoy every one, where as the first 12 episodes of Buffy I'm not into all of them

i think that has something to do with the fact that most of us knew that there wasn't going to be anymore eps after 'Objects in Space'. so we kinda forced ourselves to like them all, and then we got to gripe about how there weren't anymore eps, and how the network were a**es for cancelling such an amazing show! :lmao:

My favorite was "out Of Gas," simply because it gave some of the history of how the crew got to where they were, and I've always had a weakness for stories about someone's love for a ship that started out as a junker and became a beloved friend, so beloved that Mal was willing to risk dying rather than leave (That's why we called our ships "she" in the navy. They were beautiful, powerful ladies, who were our homes and our refuges in a hostile environment. And, for a lot of sailors, they were even a final resting place.)

"Our Mrs. Reynolds" fan, here. I just love that character! Oh - and the Special Hell thing was just too funny. And Inara insisting that she just fell! And Vera? "So does this. I call her Vera." I love "Jaynestown," too, though. Really, I love just about every episode. But "Our Mrs. Reynolds" is the one that keeps me laughing over and over again. I was so happy when YoSaffBridge came back in "Trash."

I voted for "Out Of Gas," because of the informative flashbacks, but "Heart Of Gold" would have to be a close runner up for the action, Jayne's comical lines, and, of course, Mal finally getting a little relief after an entire season of celibacy.

And don't forget Kimberly McCullough, who played the prostitute who betrayed the group. Not only is she one of my General Hospital faves, but she also has something of a Buffy connection. She used to be the live-in love of SMG's husband, Freddie Prinze Jr.

I chose "Objects in Space" because it's amazingly well written and I love the character of River! It's like Illyria, only so much better! The directing is amazing and the villain is so creepy and sadistic. I love it!

But, other favorites are "Our Mrs. Reynolds", which is so funny!, "Ariel", just good, and "Out of Gas" for the awesome flashbacks.

"Ariel" and "Out of Gas", especially that last shot of Serenity on the hilltop.

"Our Mrs. Reynolds" being a close runner up.

Whichever one was about that guy who shipped himself to Mal so he could potentially save his life but the guy ended up dieing anyway  plus Jaynes hat was great!

Whatever ep that was I also LOVED!

And I know I'll look stupid for asking but isn't that guy in the episode the same actor who plays Knox in Angel and Holden(?) is it in season 7 of Buffy?

Ariel was a very super close second.

I'm not sure I can choose. Jaynestown cracked me up. Jayne was just hilarious and we got to see that he isn't always about himself (he was pretty upset that the guy took the bullet for him at the end). Plus the song is hilarious.

War Stories was good, too. Mal and Wash still arguing over Zoe even while they were being tortured--priceless.

I've only watched most of the episodes once (except for Jaynestown and Shindig--which were the ones I watched back in 2002 and got me hooked on the show only to find it was canceled soon after I discovered it) so my opinion might change after I watch them a few times.
