Well firstly I'd just like to say I loved her character. I thought for someone who was only in three episodes, she had a great backstory and seemed to really draw interest amongst fans.

So anyway, what would you have done with her character?

In my opinion, she should have stuck around a little longer after Long Day's Journey. I don't know how much of an impact this would have had on the following episodes, but I think instead of having her return like eight episodes later for one, pretty pointless, show, she should have helped take on the Beast. That way she could have been shown enough for the writers to really build her character. I felt that that after her final appearance, the writers had missed several oppurtunites. They could have done so much more....

I think she could have been the ''Faith'' of Angel, with her great character who fought for herself and never backed down from a fight (I say this because she got sent across a building site by one punch from the Beast, and yet still was prepared to fight him).

Reading this back, I don't know if the above makes much sense; I may need to edit it later lol....

I always kinda figured that the original intention was to use her more (they took so much time with her backstory, with Joss showing his X-Men love), and that Charisma Carpenter's pregnancy necessitated changing the season 4 storyline. I could be wrong, though.

I agree that it would've been great to see her stick around as a recurring.

They already had a "faith of angel". they had faith.

I loved Gwen but I'm glad they didnt over use her. She would have ended up the same character as Faith and the show didnt need two of them. They would have ended up killing her or just making her character really pointless or boring.

I think they used her the right amount. She stayed interesting and people wanted to see her more. Thats the way it should be.

^Yeah sorry, I just meant that Faith was only in like six episodes altogether in Angel, whereas she was in an entire season for Buffy. I just associate Faith with Buffy's show....

I think that Gwen should've been used more. I really liked her and there was so much more that could've been done with her. I thought she was gonna return after the episode Players but she never did. She would have been a great addition to season 5 of Angel.

If they'd played it right, they could've made her a regular in Season 5... the male/female balance was a bit distorted and clearly the fans loved her.

That feels like a good explanation. Season four was so disjointed, obviously. She was the Catwoman/Black Cat character for, Angel and Gunn both, I guess. She’s like the Boba Fett of the Buffyverse (sorry, ubergeek moment there). But just, you know, a hugely popular, sort of peripheral cult character. I wish she’d had two or three more eps at least.

If she were to have become involved in a true Angel story arc, maybe we’d have learned that her powers had some kind of a supernatural origin or something—that she had some sort of indirect tie to Angel or WR&H or someone...

I’d love to see her show up in that hypothetical Spike movie...

I loved Gwen, she's one of my favourite AtS characters even though she was there for such a short while, but I agree with wolf, I wouldn't have wanted her to be a regular on the show. I wouldn't have mind seeing her in a few more episodes though, just not too many, that would have made her boring.. I like that we see/know so little about her in that way. Makes her cool ;)

From what i understand there were plans to use Gwen again but Alexa's budding movie career (that dire Riddick movie notwithstanding) got in the way. A shame because there was a lot of potential there and, as has been said already, she would have made an excellent addition to season 5.

I would have love to have seen a spin off with Gwen, not really fighting evil but instead doing dirty deeds such as stealing assasination, it would be different than the usual buffyverse stuff but different doesn't always mean bad

^^Her character could probably pull it off - she had a good backstory.

I would like to see Gwen and Gunn to take their relation further and deeper.

I always thought she was better suited with Angel than Gunn...No particular reason, I just did. I think they had better chemistry together I guess.

Since we're on the subject, there's something I've been meaning to ask you lot. Did Gunn and Gwen... you know... Or was it just a kiss? When I saw the episode I assumed they obviously had sex (come on! Gunn's smug face when he came back to the hotel...), but I read somewhere on a page about this ep that they had just kissed. That would probably suit better in a way : he had just broken up with Fred! So what do you think?

Considering the fact that Gwen could, literally, bring Angel back to life, at least temporarily, it would have been interesting, to say the least, if he had chosen to "move on" with her instead of Nina. Angel just might have lost that pesky ol' soul again.

Imagine the possibilities of Angel losing his soul because of gaining moments of life from Gwen, then Angelus turning Gwen into a vampire who still can do her lightning thingy. *drools over the fanfic possibilities*

Werent they originally thinking of making Gwen, Angels new love interest? I remember reading something like that when the season first premired.

But I would have made Gwen a regular during S4 and have her join the Fang Gang at W&H but keep the team very grounded. There certainly were enough stories to tell with the charecter and a lot of room for the charecter to develop.
