I voted Buffy. Only because I think she (whether he was with her at the time or not) made Spike strive to be better. Seriously, I'm pretty big on Spuffy. But someone bopped me on the head today and said I could choose all three. The idea had never occurred to me before, strangely enough. I want to have my cake and eat it, too! So, in my ideal world, Angel, Buffy, and Spike are a threesome. The fight evil together, snark at each other, and then they go home and relieve all that beautifully written and acted tension. As long as I get to see more Spike and Angel interaction, I'm happy.

He's just a good boyfriend. JM had it wrong when he said Spike wasn't. I mean, yeah, he's obsessive and freaky, but he was really tender and forgiving with Drusilla. And with Buffy. They both abused the crap out of him, and he only flipped his lid over it like one time each. He's the kind of guy who'll marry you if you give him half a chance. He'll stay with you through the ups and downs -- and we're talking serious ups and downs when it comes to the Buffyverse. He'll withstand torture to keep you safe. He'll love the entire package, warts and all instead of just the good parts. He'll be able to handle and even appreciate your dark side. He won't need you to be some paragon. He'll even challenge you to meet your potential -- and to deal with his warty, non-good parts, which are considerable. I mean, man... he's just a good boyfriend, in his own particularly frightening, vampy sort of way. If I weren't married already and Spike came knocking on my door, I'd seriously consider him -- fangs and all. Just the way he used to look at Dru and eventually came to look at Buffy... all that wonderment and passion and love... makes a girl melt.

So I guess I'd go for any pairing, provided he really loved the chick. That's what makes Spike special: his capacity for love. Spike pretty much rocks any relationship. He's a lot better in that department than, say, the Parkers of this world.

I think that's because she let Spike use her. She was too submissive. She wanted the vampire equivalent of hearts and flowers and nicknames and letterman jackets. Spike wants someone who will give as good as she gets (if not better) and force his adoration of her. Harmony didn't have it in her to do that, so she was just a convenient lay. Also, she was a rebound relationship. If she had only wanted to use him for sex in return, I'll be you he would have grown to love her. Spike always wanted what he couldn't have. He always wanted the untouchable girl: whether it was Dru with her always irksome connection to Angelus or Buffy... with her slayerness, (and, yes, her always irksome connection to Angel) the key ingredient for Spike's love seemed to be the implausibility of ever having that love be fully returned. Harmony didn't fit that bill, so she was only a rebound girl.

I liked Spike and Anya. It's just that I didn't see their little fling as a "pairing" so much as it was about the loneliness and heartbreak of each character. I really liked their dialogue during their scenes together in Entropy. If Anya hadn't died, I could have seen them maybe becoming friends someday. Maybe. They have a lot in common. But their little dalliance was mostly about booze and forgetfulness, not about each other. It was like they were talking at each other, not to each other. And the sex... it was just a thing. It made them both feel better for a few minutes. I didn't think it was anything to compare to Spike & Dru or Spike & Buffy or even Spike & Angel (who, while not romantic, -- that we know of -- is a long-standing connection).

Nope, if I'm gonna read any sort of slash (whether in the comics or in fan fiction), I stand by my convinction that it should involve Angel and Spike trying to share Buffy in order to put them in a lot of situations in which they have to team up and make me laugh! The writers are aware of the popularity of the pairing Xander/Spike, which is why they put a few teasers for the Spander fans. Jane had admitted to like the pairing.

It's not impossible if the writers were invested on it. It's just like writing Spuffy or Xander/Cordelia. Xander already admitted he found Spike hot in Intervention. Spike had stated that Xander's blood would beat the taste of onion rings in Triangle, and we know how Spike feels about onion rings ;)

Xander doesn't seem to hate Spike in S7 after Sleeper, I say he's more accepting of him than Willow, Anya and Dawn. (see Never Leave Me.)

Can't Spike change his mind? For someone who went through a lot of changes, it surely not impossible. Spike can see the loyalty, inner strength and bravery in Xander if he just let himself. It'd be a nice change to have Spike attracted to someone who isn't physically strong.


In the end, it's all a matter of taste and preference. We all have different likes and dislikes in the show. :)

I liked Spike with Dru the best. I'm not a fan of Spuffy at all, and although I do like his interaction with Angel at times I found them to often bring out the worst in eachother which I got a little sick of.

Spike was best with Dru IMO, he was far funnier, cooler, had more spunk and more edge and was still interesting IMO. With Buffy I found him to become rather tiresome, and dare I say, a little pathetic, especially in s6 and s7 was whipped Spike all the way.

He improved greatly over on Ats, but I'm still gonna say Spike and Dru. Everything about them was very poetic, the way they spoke to eachother, even their movements together seemed so fluid.

Except that one--" Joss Whedon has confirmed in numerous interviews and forum posts the possibility of at least a one-night stand between the pair. I loved Sprusilla, but I'm very certain that it isn't an option anymore, ever. I just don't see Dru putting up with souled Spike, and I guess sooner or later (though not at first) Dru's insane brand of darkness would start bothering "new" Spike, too.

I also like Spuffy (infinitely more than Bangel), IMO that was the best relationship for Buffy. But what I know of Spike's scenes with Angel in A-S5 (I'm up to "Shells" atm) I like even better, they make me roar with laughter! So probably I'd go for palabra's Spuffangel threesome; actually, that's as close to being able to stomach Bangel as you'll ever hear me get. :D I can see Spike not only quenching the infamous "Buffy......" gasps each and every time with a sarcastic quip, but he'd probably be enough of a constant annoyance to Angel that moments of complete happiness would forever stay out of reach. So, Bangelites: Spike is pretty much your only hope for adding kumshuck to your ship of choice. :lmao:

I voted Drusilla, but it was a really close one, between her, Buffy, and Angel. I never really cared much about Angel, but after watching his relationship with Spike evolve (and grow) in Angel, season 5, Spangel is getting a real option. In my head, at least. Hmmm ;)
But still, Dru is the real one for him, I think. They really fit. Spike and Buffy is interesting and beautiful, but there's something missing there. Sometimes, 'it' (whatever it is I'm missing) shimmers through, and that's why it was really difficult to decide.

In "Dirty Girls" when Faith and Spike were talking in the basement , Buffy came in and saw them in Spike's bed. You can tell she didn't like seeing that, and I think there was some jealousy in there.

*laughs* I can't imagine Spike and Drusilla with each other anymore. I think that they've not only grown beyond each other, but they are no longer compatible. Drusilla wouldn't stand a soulful Spike and Spike, with a soul, would no longer be able to be around Drusilla, who would insist on killing everyone, and this would deeply trouble him more than before. Just my two cents on that viewpoint.

I know it will never happen that they finally get to be together because Joss will never make a descision for her between Angel and Spike, it would just piss too many fans off to put her with one and not the other, so I think in the long run they are both out of luck sadly *damn you Joss!* I have to disagree that Spike should explore around with Faith or Illyria before setteling with Buffy though. I think whats so special about Spke is his ability to love someone with all of himself, with total blinders on (like with Dru for 100 years) If Buffy were to let him, he would love her and only her for the rest of eternity. ^I don't think it would be a cat fight. But since Dru is crazy, she would act like a crazy angry person. The slayer have taken over her william, and he even has a filthy soul. In Dru's eyes, it would be horrible. Her little toy has become good. I bet Dru would torture Spike, and talk a lot of crazy talk trying to convince Spike that he can be bad. Treating Spike like she did with Angel in the Becoming episodes!
I would love to see an episode like that!
