I saw this a day early where I am. My personal opinion. I'm going to recommend it - highly. Amy Acker steals scenes in a small part, and yes there are surprises.

SEASON FINALE
Monday, May 15, 8:30PM ET/PT

"Come On"

While Ted makes one last attempt to win Robin's heart, Marshall and Lily are at odds, on the first season finale.
RATING: TVPG-DL

I watched this last night-it was delayed the better part of a half hour due to the President's address. A Whedonverse-fest with three actors from Buffy and Angel!

It was good to see Amy Acker again. Cast as Penelope, a student-scholar type-again! Funny that her character should have been paired with Neil Patrick Harris' Barney, the pair are good for lots of laughs, I hope she'll come back.

I hope no Native American's were offended by the depiction of a rain dance. You never know about these things.

If Alexis Denisof's Sandy Rivers character is really departing the "newscast" I wonder if we'll see him again next season.

I wasn't prepared to see Lily and Marshall (presumably) break off their engagement. But on the other hand the wedding did seem to be coming up too quickly and maybe they want to keep them unmarried a while longer.

The one that wobbled me a bit was the Robin and Ted thing, because in the first ep they lead you to believe there won't be a Robin and Ted thing with the "Aunt Robin" remark Ted makes to his kids in the future. Ted and Robin getting with the romance remodeled my understanding of the story a bit, and I kind of liked it.

(America has seen this now, and it says Season Finale discussion on the title. No need to worry about posting spoilers from this point.)

Oh...and here's a review -

I'm really sad about Lily/Marshall. Ok, not really sad 'cause I don't care that much about this show, but I thought they'd always be "the couple"..

Amy has got to be the prettiest/cutest girl ever. Loved her scenes, and she and "Barney" were certainly funny together :)

I know. I always wanted them to be a couple (still do), but we already know they won't end up together, even though Ted would think of Robin as his "soulmate" all through this season (almost)..

Well okay, I won't use the spoiler shading here anymore-I just didn't know if people overseas might see something they don't want to, but then perhaps they should just be avoiding this thread altogether!

The Robin and Ted thing wasn't too surprising to me. It seems like they've been hot and cold all season long. And, as N4h said, there was the "Aunt Robin" narration which leads one to surmise that she's not the one. So it turns out they conclude the season on a hot note, we can all wonder where they'll pick it up this fall.

As I posted before I hope we'll see more of Amy Acker at some point in this series. I wasn't too keen on the character they created for Alexis Denisof-I think that molded hair looks awful and he seems to be a bit of a buffoon. Of course it's sweet that Alyson and Alexis can work on the same show.

I hate the Robin/Ted thing. We know they're not going to end up together, so please end it now!

Bad, bad. Lily and Marshall all gone now.
I actually thought they'd, somehow, be about to postpone the wedding.

Sandy is just funny.
I think he might come back for a few spots, just to attempt to get Robin in bed.

Yeah, that's pissing me off too.
Robin and Ted obviously don't happen, why toy with us with the relationship?

I still think off those 2 or 3 onscreen minutes Amy Acker's character - Penelope - should get her own spinoff series. :silly:

I do like Alexis on the show. He's very good. I hope he'll come back for a few episodes, but I'm not sure that'll happen since he was just a love interest for Robin.

yeah, i don't like the ted/robin thing either. it's just getting so tiring, and annoying. one of them would like the other and the other wouldn't, then they switch, over and over again... ahh!! enough already. i didn't expect the whole marshall/lily break-up, but then again i didn't really expect them to go through with the wedding this quickly, either.

i absolutely thought amy acker was hilarious with NPH. i hope she appears more this next season. i also like alexis denisof's character, sandy. maybe they'll bring him back so he can keep trying to get robin, then turn his sights over to lily (since she's all broken up with marshall). that would be funny to watch-- sandy's relentless attempts at sleeping with lily, and her just shooting him down.
