this episode was ok. i didnt really like the whole thing with giles and willow in england, but it was cool to see high school again. it also set up the season with the potential dying at the beginning and the thing willow saw. plus, it was interesting to see spike react to getting a soul. also, we got to see a lot of dawn, who we dont usually see as much. and the whole tone of it seemed lighter than the dark tone of s6. i didnt love it, but i didnt hate it. i cant think of anything particularly great about it. i actually havent seen it in a while; i think i'll go watch it now and post again later. i just didnt want to be the fifth one to post again and just agree with what everyone else said ;)

I like this season opener too (I think I like most of them). It feels like a pretty big change from season 6, and it's nice that the speach Buffy made to Dawn about showing her the world really happened too. I like how sweet they are to eachother here, and Dawn being so grown up (wearing black and high heels like she wasn't alloud to before..heh). And Buffy being like overly protective over her is kinda funny, and also when she runs into Dawns classroom in the middle of her presentation speach (which is really funny too).
I don't really care that much for those new friends of Dawn though, I get that they were setting it up as they were the new gang, the same kind that Buffy, Willow and Xander was, but it felt forced.
Must say I disagree with Spirit_of_Fred about the england scenes, I really like those scenes, I think they are super sweet and also really beautiful. And really necessary to understand what Willow has been through since she tried to destroy the world, what she has been learning and that she is relly scared about the future etc.

I liked this season opener, the opening scene was great. With the "Who has the power", lol. The reintroduction of the high school was great, I also really liked the bad guys of the ep, the evil spirits of the people Buffy couldn't save, I loved seeing how she dealt with them - Like she was apologetic or feeling sorry for herself that she didn't save them.
I agree with Joamma, I loved the England scenes. Especially that scene where Willow brings that plant from another country up through the earth, I love those natural magick scenes.
The show was definitely lighter then the last season, but I loved that there was a sense of foreboding set up from the get go, having the potential killed and giving us no information, I loved that.
