I haven't listened to any of his music, but I probably will at some point... then again, one of his songs plays at the end of 3x08: "Lover's Walk", doesn't it?

Honestly...I think he has an awesome voice..but I hated the Civilized Man album...I liked GOTR better, although I didn't get into that either. I wanted to love his music because I love him...but couldn't. I like my rock a bit harder :D

I agree. Spike should stick to being a vampire and stop pretending he's a singer. He's awful and I don't like it one bit. I didn't even want to like it because he should concentrate on Buffy.

I don't think James' singing is bad. I have his cd but I don't really listen it. it's nice, it's okay. I don't have the GOTR cd though. I bought the cd because I want to support James, I love him. I don't think there are many people who love this kind of music.

Never was able to purchase any of the GOTR albums. By the time I started searching online (and finding/ordering it in used record stores never panned out) I came to find out that they were all out of print. I downloaded all of Mad Brilliant at some point.

My favorites are "Vehicles Shock Me", "David Letterman", "Blocking Brainwaves" and "German Jewish". Other than that, idk the rest of the album was ok, nothing groundbreaking. I do think that James has mad talent as a singer. It was because I heard "Rest in Peace" on OMWF that I even had any desire to look into his band's music.

It's mostly James' singing that I like about the band, but the guitar solo/bridge part on "German Jewish" is fuggin amazing. The drummer can also really come with it at times.

I also heard the cover of "Come As You Are" that they did... can't say that I cared for that version much. Honestly it did not do the original justice at all. I guess I was expecting something different?

Not that I'm a big Nirvana fan (although I used to be) or anything, just that I really didn't like the way GOTR's version sounded at all. You can definitely hear Kurt's influence on James's singing voice at times though. James did cite Nirvana as one of his favorite bands in an interview once.

Not exactly my kind of music either, but based on what I've heard so far, [that album] has it's moments. I wouldn't have any qualms about subjecting myself to more of their music. Trouble is, finding them.
