Roled Discussion 1 - Welcome To The Hellmouth/Harvest

OK, well i've harped on about it long enough so here goes.
The First Episode that should be discussed should be the one that starts us off.
I would also suggest that we view this conversation as if we were sitting around at the end of season 1 recollecting the events of the episode.
You will have to suspend some disbelief as the 'bad guys' will be part of the conversation too.

Here is the List of key characters in Welcome to the Hellmouth/Harvest.

PM me two names of characters you wish to play, preferably one from main one from secondary.

You WILL only play one character in this BUT I think that it would be a great idea if people would try to pick people they believe they can do justice to, not specifically characters they like the most.

The Discussion itself will begin on Monday 9th at 7-7.30 PM GMT...so please get your names in:)

I've just said this to VisionGuy in a PM so I thought i'd post it here to try and make things clearer.

If it helps, this isn't necessarily you being a specific character by getting their emotions like in a Fic, this is more like that group watching the events of the episode after and doing like a DVD commentary about it.

Its not like i'm, as the Master, going to be sat there, going 'I want you blood'.
I'll be more like....'ohh yah, my motivation for this was i wanted your blood.'

Ok i'm confused, I was under the impression that this is a discussion group, not an RPG.

It IS a discussion. Its us lot pretending to be the characters discussing our roles in the epsiodes.

Its like when you're at Drama Class and you become the character to understand what is going on and what drives you...its 'Method Discussion'.

It will obviously be our interpretations of what is going on in the episode, but it will be a discussion.

Yeah, if it fails, it fails. Least we tried.
I mean if you think about it, generally in discussion you, as the viewer, are simply interpreting the narrative of a character thus concluding with your opinion, this is the same except instead of posting as the viewer, your comment is tailored to the character as though they were speaking.

OK, so I hope you are all ready for the discussion.
I think the best way to do it is for a question to be posed answer in character and comment in your character.

So the opening question.

What do you feel your role in these episodes was, how did it affect the other characters and the overall story and with the benefit of hindsight, what would you do differently?

I'm the vampire slayer. It doesn't matter how many times I try to run away from my destiny, it always seems to find me. My mom and I move to a new city and I do the whole normal teenager thing by hanging out with the popular crowd but I guess that just isn't enough for me. I always have to go snooping around dead guys minding my own business. See, if I wouldn't have found out that Sunnydale was some sort of center of mystical convergence, I would have been able to live my life the way I've been wanting to for over a year.

Me being the slayer obviously affected everyone around me. Especially since everyone somehow found out what I do in the very first episode. Keeping a secret identity in this town REALLY is a job of work.

Okay, well my role was to be one of Buffy's new friends in Sunnydale, and also to be attacked by a vampire, which wasn't that much fun at all. At first when I saw Buffy, she was hanging out with Cordelia, so I wasn't really sure that we would ever be friends, but now looking back at it, I'm glad I changed my mind, because she's nothing like Cordelia.

As far as the being attacked by a vampire thing, well, that was pretty scary. At first I didn't know what was going on, but then when I saw Jesse with those marks on his neck I freaked out, and I was worried that soon I would be in one of those specials on the news about kids who wandered into a cemetary after dark and were mysteriously killed or something. I think now I would never walk into a cemetary with a pale guy that I didn't know, that could possibly be a blood-sucking fiend, but I guess back then, being that I didn't know about vampires and all, it was fine.

My roles were connected in affecting Buffy because my being her friend was part of the reason she tried to save me from the vampire. And, yeah, being Buffy's friend affected her in what I hope was a good way because, well, she was new to Sunnydale, and it's nice to have friends who can, you know, help you through...all the new stuff.

Oh, and my role was also to provide some help with the research with my computer skills...and everything was totally legal of course!

Of course it was all legal. As long as nobody found out. I do feel kinda responsible about you going off with the fashion impaired vamp. If I wouldn't have told you to "Seize the moment," you wouldn't have gotten in that situation.

Oh, don't blame yourself, Buffy! You didn't know what was going to happen. And...it was good advice in general! I mean, had he not been a vampire, it might've worked out well. And maybe if I'd followed that advice in relation to...that other guy I like, he would've actually liked me.

Hi, The Master here. Long time Vampire, first time member of a discussion group.....grrr argh and all.

Was it really so long ago that I was reborn in the pool of Blood. Ha.
Note to all you New Ageist Hippies, rebirthing is a bitch when its dry clean only.

Anyway, I expect that you really want me to give you the 'down low' as the kids would say.
Trapped in an old Church by forces, my plan was simple. Use Luke as a vessel to help me penetrate my enforced prison walls and take over the world. My only problem was, I didn't count on 'The Help' being simpler than the plan.

I can't blame it all on Luke and Darla, some of the blame must go to the Beverly Hills reject Buffy Summers AKA 'The Slayer' and her band of unfortunate school misfits.
Often times while remembering the plans failure i'm thinking 'I would have gotten away with it if it wasn't for those pesky kids', but such is the unlife.

As the greatest Vampire to have ever existed(Dracula - Pah. He maybe the most famous, but I crap better threats than him and don't even get me started on Kakistos, the Hoofen fiend he may be, but at the end of century Vampiric Ball i'm the one that gets the first nip of Virgin.) It was obvious, to me at least, that The Slayer would be hard pressed to get the better of me.

So you should know a little about me then.
OK, well My Name 'The Master', you really don't need anything more than that.
I've been a Vampire longer than civilised man.
I'm the ruler of the Vampire Cult, Order of Aurelius, which has had some interesting members in its time. Darla, a favourite of mine and the once great Angelus though his contributions were fairly minor and oft he even suggests he had no such connection other than his sire.
A little known fact about Angelus....I taught him everything he knows, or at least knew.

My biggest regret was underestimating the Slayer and overestimating the use of Luke for the Harvest. That won't happen again.

Why is it always me who ends up hearing the wrong ends of conversations? I know that everyone probably thought iw was evedropping, but i wasn't. Honest! the one time i actually try to do the study thing, go to the library, check out a book, and hear the new chick harping on about vampires! i mean, seriously, i thought she wasn't the drug taking kind, but i guess it takes all sorts.
But then, later on at the Bronze, she's telling me that Willow, WILLOW, has gone for ice cream with some guy that picked her up. Sheseems kinda worried about her, and i figure maybe she was telling the truth after al...would kinda explain why i found a stake in her bag...

I don't have so much of a 'role' at this point. Oh, but I gave the Slayer a little trinket.

She looked pretty normal to me. And she was blonde. Don't remember meeting too many blonde slayers before. Wherever she came from, and why she came to Sunnydale, I don't know. But without doubt, she doesn't know what she's in for.

Well My role was, obiviously, Sexual Tension. I mean both the new girl and Cordelia totally wanted me. Cordelia especially, we've had thing for a good few years now.

My role was also to give a nice healthy shock to Xander and Willow, to introduce them to this new world.

But if I had to do something differently, I probably wouldn't have gone after that skanky blonde vampire... what a mistake, but did you see her, how could I not?

Okay, before I can ever think about discussing my role in this episode and all that.... I just have to know. What the heck is your problem Willow? You know I worked very hard on that computer program...like twenty minutes and then you tell me to save it with deliver? You obviously don't know much about computers, because that did not deliver my program anywhere. I lost the whole thing and had to pay some nerd to do it again!

So, when you're ready to apologize for that let me know!

Well Buffy and myself moved here to Sunnydale to make a fresh start. It’s nice here. Quiet and normal. I don’t know about this new school. But I really hope Buffy doesn’t go and burn down this school's gym, I really worry about her. I just think there is something she isn’t telling me. Lets hope everything works out okay. I think this school is a great nurturing environment... I think it would be good for Buffy. Lets hope she finds friends... well that aren’t the wrong crowd. Like the other day I got a call from her principal. I really hope she doesn’t get kicked out again. I know she is 16 but she has to understand that she isn’t... well its not like she’s a superhero and gets to go out whenever she needs because people need rescuing.

yeah, i'd say that was true. i mean, i was pretty much thrown in at the deep end anyhow...but, Jesse...man, that was just wrong. Guess that really cemented the fact that vampires aren't the same person they were. Shoulda listened to Buffy in the first place.
wonder what woulda happened if I hadn't stake Jesse? think he woulda joined u[ with the eveil doers and bemcame the next 'big bad'?
