i watched a marathon of all these, and i will make mini-comments on them. 'fear, itself' is hilarious! i love it! it makes me laugh! there are so many great jokes i like (im so lame; i found ALL of them funny) i cant name just one in specific. and i like seeing what they dress up as (love bunny anya and god oz!). 'halloween', also a funny one. and i love the sweetness between oz and willow where he bumps into her but doesnt know its her, and where he sees her walking at the end. im so proud of willow at the end, taking off her ghost costume. as far as xander's military smarts, it's amazing how long that carries over the series! like the plots of both these two. fight between tara and willow in 'all the way': so sad! i did like that part though in terms of willow-tara-ness! ooh, and at the end she casts the spell followed up in the next ep, 'omwf'! plus, xander and anya finally announce their engagement, and you can see their first signs of doubt about the marriage. this is possibly my least favourite of the three (not cause of all the parts i'm mentioning), but it was still good, and i loved anya in it (when dont i? :p). let's all do the dance of capitalist superiorty! *dances*

yups, those are my mini-comments. everyone else feel free to post larger ones.

My favorite Halloween episode has got to be "Halloween" I just love "Lady Buffy"

I don't know, maybe it's just the "Hi, Honey. I'm Home" part at the home when Buffy comes back and kicks the crap out of Spike. I have always liked the interesting dynamics of their relationship!

I like that "I'm home" part too. But I don't like Lady Buffy, just realized when watching this the other night, she's just boring, hm.

I really like Fear Itself, I love when they are mocking the tiny little demon. XANDER: Who's a little fear demon? Come on! Who's a little fear demon!

GILES: Don't taunt the fear demon.

XANDER: Why, can he hurt me?

GILES: No, it's just - tacky.

Yeah I'm with Joamna on lady Buffy, not much fun.

Totally with SOF on this though:
i love the sweetness between oz and willow where he bumps into her but doesnt know its her, and where he sees her walking at the end.
I really love Oz/Willow in the beginning of and before their relationship..

I rarely watch season 2, but this episode is kind of great, and it really is great to see Willow like this, she changes so much laters, but here she really was that super shy girl, aw, gotta love..

Also, seeing Xander that confident? Really cool, mhm.

I never thought of it before but I guess Lady Buffy is pretty boring... it's funny at first but it's just awkward and boring after a few minutes.

Out of the three I'd have to say Fear Itself is my favorite... hilarious. Gachnar demon was brilliant.

I didn't like All the Way that much... I did it because it proved that Dawn was really not 'just a kid' but not exactly the smartest person on earth either. Which is a good thing, I think.

:woot: People are responding! Yippie! :)

I didn't have the viewpoint on Lady Buffy being boring. She's just different. But I do love the other Buffy much more! :)

Anya dressed as a Bunny in "Fear Itself"...need i say more?

As for "All the way" I love the "Shiver me timbers" thing anya goes on about, And tara is all "well im not much for the timber".

And this scene melts me all the time...

WILLOW: And while you're at it, why don't you try removing that broomstick from your-
Dawn appears behind the witch, approaching Willow.
WILLOW: Dawn!
DAWN: Hey. Don't stop the invective on account of me.
WILLOW: If I see one more idiot that thinks witches are all hairy moles and rotted teeth-
TINY WITCH: Excuse me, do you have any candy corn?
Willow and Dawn look down to see a tiny little girl dressed in a similar witch costume.
WILLOW: Oh, look at you! (kneels by the girl) You are just the cutest thing!
DAWN: I-I thought you said-
WILLOW: I know, but look, with the hat, and the, the wart! Oh! Let's go fill your tummy up with sugary niblets, okay?

Fear,Itself is definetly my best Halloween ep. It seems to be very underrated imo,(then again s4's my fave)
but its a very funny and entertaining episode. Only thing i dislike about it is Oz's 'God' sticker.
Also the first signs of disruption within the Scooby camp, like the first signs Xanders beginning to feel left out of the new college life(the look on his face when Oz calls him a civilian) and Oz telling Willow he worries about her increasing magic skills. And in the Haunted House, Willow getting annoyed with Buffys bossyness, and telling her ''im not your sidekick''
All in all, a classic episode.

Somethings wrong, I'm agreeing with you far too much this week... But, yeah, everything you said is how I feel about it.

I also thought it was interesting that Willow's fear has moved from crippling shyness to losing control of her magic. It's nice to see that even here they were planting the seeds of Season 6 Willow's control-freakery.

The Halloween episodes in Buffy are classics, I love them. My favourite is Halloween in season 2, then followed by Fear Itself in season 4. They really have a Halloween feel to it, and I like their costumes (esp. Anya's bunny costume).

Drusilla: "Do you love my insides? The parts you can't see?"
Spike: "Eyeballs to entrails, my sweet."
(from Halloween, S2)

Heh, just as this thread pops up again, Fear Itself was on FX this morning. I was supposed to be doing some housework but I put my feet up and watched instead. :p

Can I first ask wheres your siggy from(the poster above)

As for the Halloween eppy's Halloween is my favourite one, followed closely by Fear Itself, and I quite enjoyed All The Way aswell.

I like military Xander,Anya's costume and Giles' reaction to Willow coming through the wall.Halloween is definitely the best.

1. Halloween. Lady Buffy irked me, but I guess that was kind of the point. I love how each character grew from this episode and became something they normally would never be...Buffy is weak, feeble, and powerless...Xander is in control and confident (and has valuable information about military tactics for later episodes)...Willow is forced to walk around in the outfit she refused to earlier, which gives her confidence to lose the ghost costume once she's back in her body, gaining confidence as well...Really great episode, and funny as hell. :)

2. Fear, Itself..close second. I love the tiny fear demon, definitely my favorite slaying. All their fears taking form is interesting too.

3. All the Way. I didn't really like this episode. Poor old guy. :(

I would have to say it goes like this:

1. Fear, Itself. It had Anya, but also showed what happens in future. Oz leaves Willow due to werewolf, Xander feeling left out has drastic results in Yoko Factor and Willow loses control over magic in S6. Beside, it had Giles with Chainsaw in it as well as the scariest demon in the series..well scratch that last i suppose ;)

2. Halloween. I saw it about 10 years ago, maybe 9 so it is by heart. No Anya, but Ethan Rayne was there :) My favorite guest star :) Idea of costumes was great, but it was rather bland with Buffy. Giles with Ripper first apparence too i think? If i remembered more might challenge for 1st place.

3. All the way. Of the three episodes that one felt like least halloween episode. It was standard Dawn gets kidnapped version X story, not halloween one. At least that how it felt :)

Buffy being the "Cordelia" for once was hilarious.

And I totally love how, end the end of halloween, Willow walks by Oz, and he just goes "Who IS that girl??"
It's sweet :D

Although fear itself is my fave of the three (closely followed by halloween) I gotta disagree about Anya's bunny costume as being the best. I liked her dressed up as an angel! Even as a straight lady, those hot pants made me blush!

I actually watched both "Halloween" and "Fear Itself" earlier today. I love Buffy's pumpkin metaphor in the beginning of "Fear Itself". I always assumed that the spell Oz and the frat guys inadvertently cast was only successful because Oz has demon in his blood (and of course, it was in the script). Not related to anything anyone else has said, just thought I'd mention that.

I just praised "Halloween" as being the most perfect episode of season two in another thread. I loved "I Only Have Eyes for You", "Passion", and "Becoming" 1&2, but none of them had the character development, plot and humor of this episode.
