Time to discuss the eighth episode of season one, "I robot, You Jane"

Talk about the first love interest for Willow!

I do like the leopard print coat that Buff wears when rescuing Willow.

This episode was amazing and a prime example for all the dangers lurking on the internet and IMs.

I did enjoy this episode, though, and I thought Maloch was a pretty good idea to be an internet virus thing. Giles' worst fear. Hey! This is the make up for the pretty lame fear he has in Nightmares. Wow! I'm smart! Just kidding. I thought Maloch was very cool looking, Will and Buffy were beautiful as always, Xand was funny guy, and Giles was the librarian.

That covers it for me! Until someone starts asking questions...ooh!

High parts? Low parts? Your ideas? o.O

i liked this episode cause it introduced jenny, who i really liked. it was also funny with all the arguing between giles and jenny about books and computers. i wouldve thought it was more cool that willow had a love interest who liked her back, had we not known he was a demon right off. i was just worried for her instead. there's a lot of funny lines in this too, but i dont want to make the whole discussion thread into a list of quotes. ...so, to reiterate, it was funny, and it made you worry, cause joss was doing that whole thing where he puts willow in trouble, cause he knows people will feel bad. i am one of people; i felt bad. im kind of busy at the moment, so i dont really have time to elaborate more. i didnt really like season one, but this was one of the only episodes i actually did like.

I didn't really like it. All I really liked about it was the fact that Jenny was introduced into the storyline(and the bickering was tooo cute :) ) Season One isn't really my favorite though, it has such a different feel than all the others. The demon was kinda weird, but I think what irked me more was the fact of how he was put into the story, I mean the internet? Way to freak me out LOL! But yeah, it was different. Not the best eppy IMHO but it was okay.

No Angel, another reason I didn't like this one.

You know, SOF, you just mentioned something that I was thinking about a while ago.

This is the first episode that we meet Jenny, and it always seemed to me strange. I always thought that she was just there from the beginning. Because she was just always sort of a natural fit with the gang. I always find myself thinking about how this was her first episode...that she wasn't really there all along!

You know what i'm saying here?

i have to admit,i liked the overall idea for this episode, the dangers of the web, and how you never really know who you're talking to. (but i know all you guys are great, lol)
but the actual ep let me down. i thought they could have done a lot more with it. like SOF said, maybe it would have been better if we didn't know that 'Malcom' was a demon from the start. it would have been interesting to see Buffy's reactions to Willow falling for a guy she never met if we had believed what buffy did...that he was a guy who lived 80 miles away.
seriously, how manby parents here worried about who their child was talking to on the internet? not even parents, friends, like Xander and Buffy.
there were some interesting points, like Buffy's outfit she wears when she tails that guy, her trench coat and sunglasses, lol.
i liked Jenny's introduction, i thought she fit in very well with the kids and especially Giles. i was actually kinda disappointed when she wasn't added to the main credits in S2! lol
i liked buffy and Xander exchange about Willow's boyfriend probably being an circus freak...or was it axe murderer? i forget.

My least favorite episode of season one. It's a little hard to sit through.

what makes it hard to sit through, crushed dead boone? elaboration makes a better discussion :silly:.

Well, it's been a while since I've seen it but the second time I tried to watch I couldn't finish it. It was just more ludicrous than anything else I recall on the show. Maybe it was the writing and directing? Maybe I'll TRY to watch it again and tell you just why I hated it. :)

Maybe eventually I'll like it. I dunno.

anyone have any ideas as to what could have improved this episode, guys? any changes that wouldve made you want to watch it? would you have made maloch's plan different? like lyri and i said, would it have been better if we thought "malcolm" was just a guy over the net at first? would you have changed some of the dialogue? the themes? discussions die quickly around here; come on people! :)

Nothing was wrong with this episode.
There were a couple things that bothered me...like Buffy's birthdate changing in a mere couple seconds between shots and the fact that if Buffy sat across from Willow in the room, then morloch would have never seen her through the comp. cam (too simple of a way to find an enemy for "malcom").

But like I said, the episode was fine.
They set it up well with the beginning and how the demon got to be in the book so that when he got out, we were not like huh? But of course WHY the demon was forced into the book was never brought up (I don't think) and that would have helped a bit.

well, according to giles:

...Moloch, the Corrupter. A very deadly and seductive demon. He draws people to him with promises of love, power, knowledge. Preys on impressionable minds.

he was probably bound because of all the bad things he did to people. in fact, in the beginning, they say:

It is Moloch. The Corrupter. He walks again. More and more people have fallen under his mesmerizing power. There is still time to bind him. We must form the circle.

EDIT: if your question was as to why it was in the book, they needed to bind him in something, and maybe they felt that was the best way. it is kind of a good point though. if by reading the book, moloch could be released, why not trap him in something less easily opened or read?

i dont really have much to say about this ep ... wasnt a fav... i actually didnt really like it.. its like the only buffy ep i disliked.. i thought it was corny and the storyline was pointless to the season 1 storyline... it was jsut like a random ep thrown in.
