From Innis: I still can't believe they moved Law & Order to Friday, but at least it still rocks. Know anything new?
Kristin: I hear the adorable, amazing Julie Benz (Dexter, Angel) just shot a guest spot for February sweeps.
There's more, but it's a little spoilery

Good for Julie Benz! The original Law and Order is in its 17th season. It had its ratings heyday back around the turn of the decade. It still gets respectable ratings on Friday nights, skewing toward older viewers. The spinoffs SVU and CI seem to get more promotion from NBC. I think the show is showing its age. Still, given the success rate of new shows in that timeslot for NBC, it's unlikely that any replacement would do better than L&O. Last spring they ran Conviction (with Eric Balfour and J. August Richards) in that slot, with mediocre results.
It is filmed in New York City and a number of actors have appeared in guest spots on the show on their way to stardom, Amanda Peet and Ellen Pompeo of Grey's Anatomy among them. Of course there was Elisabeth Rohm who went from her recurring role as Kate on Angel to be a regular on this show for about 3-1/2 seasons, playing an ADA.
I don't recall many people from Joss Whedon's shows appearing on L&O over the years, maybe it has to do with the location. I know Adam Kaufman aka Parker Abrams was on this current season. For all her ties to New York City, Sarah Michelle Gellar has never appeared on this show.

The original L&O is soo BORING. I'm thrilled they shuttled it off to Fridays. Hopefully it will eventually die there. I do like the other two though, and I loved Trial By Jury. But SVU is the best, and I would love to see Benz on THAT one.

I saw the Law and Order episode titled "Church" guest starring Julie Benz last night. It was actually a more entertaining episode than the usual. Julie Benz was playing the wife of a minister of an evangelical church that she and her husband had founded. There are a number of such high profile churches in this country. I don't think they'll like this depiction, lol!
Her voice is ever unmistakable. I don't quite identify her with the Darla character the way I identify Sarah Michelle Gellar with Buffy but still, it felt a little odd to see her wearing a cross around her neck!
