My first thing, is to figure out what the actual worst fear of the characters were, because sometimes I get confused.
Buffy: That she was the reason for her parent's divorce
Giles: That Buffy dies and turns into a vampire
Willow: Singing/acting in front of everyone
Xander: Nazis? Clowns?
Cordelia: Do we ever see her fear?
Joyce: Do we ever see her fear?
i watched this last night and this is what i got:
Buffy: The fear that she caused her parents divorce, her father abandoning her, turning into a vampire, forgetting about a histroy test/not knowing where class is, being buried alive (Which is actually my greatest fear too)
Giles: Getting lost in the stacks, forgetting how to read, failing Buffy
Willow: Stage fright, and i guess spidars could figure into that as well.
Xander: Clowns, public nudity, nazis
Cordelia: MAJOR bad hair day, everyone thinking she's a geek and making her join the chess club.

I think because its an alternate reality that the sun does not affect vampires(or that she isnt a real one)

Don't you think the monster in this episode looks like the nemesis in the resident evil video game?

yeah, i do, alot of buffy reminds me of the whole resident evil series.
I think that everyone's main fear in the episode was fear.
If you look, pretty much everyone conquered their fear head on when forced to confront it. I think the message there is that your fears are only as prevalent as your fear of confronting them, case in point being Xander punching the clown in the face and then just getting over it.

Are you sure that "pretty much everyone" conquered their fears? I'd rather say that in this area, Xander is an unusually shining hero in this ep. I don't see much conquest in, e.g., MadameButterfly!Willow.
Anyway, I hope Xander also learned the important lesson of "Don't EVER follow the candy trail!"
