Buffy's 10th Anniversary Celebration

Hey everyone!

It's been 10 years since the show first aired...so in the spirit of this fabulous occasion, we are going to celebrating!

I'm taking some ideas and suggestions on what you would all like to do to help celebrate. I've got a couple ideas and those will be posted around the boards, but we need more! The more the merrier.

Post your ideas on how you'd like to celebrate! All ideas will be considered.

well, i already mentioned the 'discuss your top 10 eps' are we still going ahead with that?
i've narrowed my eps down to 13...i refuse to narrow it anymore! lol

I say you have a Bangel Vs Spuffy(including Spu and Cangel) mass debate(hehe) to end all.
Two teams one side Bangelers the other Spuffydoo's. Argue points on why one is better than the other in a lengthy debate with a Team Captain and say 3 Members.
The 3 members should be the ones to search everything for information and quotes handing them to the TM to make their argument.

Then when its done, the whole board vote on who has the best argument for the relationship.

You could even do it about other contentious points such as Who would Shanshu?

Just my idea.


Ohh, to get into the spirit you could have supporting Banners and Skins with Avs and Relevant UT's.

How about the BB artists come up with some '10 years of Buffy' art?

Perhaps, someone - a member of staff etc - who doesn't do any art can post their Top 10 fave episodes, OR alternatively, 10 members can each post their ultimate favourite episode, then each artist is allocated an episode from that list and they have to create a piece or art based on it?

thats a good idea. or perhaps we can post a poster that has all our top 10 eps. that you either do individually or even a house does a poster where the members can all decide on one person in the house to do it. or even share it around by adding an ep into it .. like pass the poster.. thing. i dont how it would work. im just rambling again so ill shh.

That's a good idea too CS, although maybe it might be a bit of a squeeze fitting 10 eps into one piece? I know I'd find it a squeeze 'lol' but then that's just my preference to work with only a couple or so images. ;)

We are deifinitely doing our personal top 10 episode discussion in the Buffy Episode Discussion Group...so if you haven't joined a group, do it now in your Control Panel!

I also love the art ideas..making a piece summing up the series or what not. This is also something that we can do.

And a great debate...sure, why not! We all know that I'm definitely up to debating Spuffy love! :) This can definitely be arranged, coming up with soem major conflict topics that could be heavily debated (once again!)

The actual anniversary is March 10th I believe. So, a couple more days of suggestions, and then we can get the ball rolling.

ok, but if we do the debate thing, can we do something other than Spuffy verses Bangel? it's been done to death, and most of us here are Spuffy anyway, it might turn into a one sided discussion.
how about Faith verses Buffy? Who made the better Slayer in the end?

as for the art thing, i'd be really interested in doing that. maybe we could each do something to celebrate 10 years of the show, sort of like a thank you type thing, and then we could have a Mod each come up with their fave episode, and assign artists to make a piece for each Mod. did that make sense?

There are pleanty of Bangel fans around the board and not to be all yeah but We could so totally win the discussion... but yes Bangel VS Spuffy has been done.. although spuffy really is no competition :P i like the faith vs buffy thing although even that has been done alot

I'm a member of a board called Sublime Requiem. The site is about The Vampire Chronicles and what is special about it is that you can 'talk' to the characters. It is not a RPG, it's a normal board with normal discussions, the only weird thing is that some of the members (the Staff) are the books' characters.

I'm telling you this because I think it could be cool to create a forum to talk to the characters, not about them. As I said, it's not a real role playing game, there are no actions, places, etc, just normal threads.

Some of the BBers could play the characters in that specific forum so the rest of us could talk to them.

I didn't explain myself very well ¬¬ and I think I can't post the link to that website... Anyway, it's not as complicated as it sounds :p.

See i'm not gonna be here so really its not an issue, I picked Spuffy vs Bangel because you have 10 Years of stuff to truly debate.
When I made the suggestion, I don't mean one person types a comment, then another, then another. I meant two teams of say 4. 3 Searchers and a Team Captain. The Team Captain is the ONLY one to post, btu the searchers use the vastness of the Internet and DVD's to find quotes, comments even other peoples opinions on why this one specific Relationship is 'better' than the other.

Then both arguments, courtroom stylee, are given a final post to summarize the points for theirs and against the others.
Then the summaries are voted on.

The reason I'd personally suggest something like this over a Buffy vs Faith one is simple.
Spike has been a presence in the shows since Season 2 and in every Season of Buffy and in a Couple of Angel Seasons.
Faith, well she hasn't as much time really and as much as both are Slayers, they aren't really comparable because Faith after season 3 Buffy.
Faith lost her way and fought to come back, Buffy didn't and in that sense Buffy can never be in the same league as Faith.

Something similar was started here so I understand.

We had Episode Commentaries of certain episodes and the members here were specific characters.
What you now suggest though is the furthering of that, the 'characters' conversing with other board members.

if we're going to go with the debate thing, then i like Al's idea of teams, and assigning a team captain who would do the actual debating. we could all discuss the points as a team, and give the captain notes to work with.
i have no idea about how to go about assigning everyone into a team, but ther ya go, lol

LOL...not being funny but after Ten years around and 3 years off air, the subjects have ALL been done.

I was thinking though, what about Angel, Spike and Faith - Path to Redemption.

Something about who has the best redemption plan because they are ALL unique in their approach but have the same goal.

But that would require three teams, one for each character.

Well that could be one of the factors used for or against.
Do either of the Vampires use the possibility of Shanshu as a means to become human, but not because they are doing the right thing, but because they want it.
Does that make Faith a better 'person' because her reward is nothing quite as tangible.

I've always liked art contests. Maybe walls or banners that have to use images from ea. season, or something that sums up a 'theme' for ea. season. Also, an essay contest would be good, or a poetry contest? Video clips? You could put bits of Buffy or Angel together and set them to music......

Something interactive would be fun, too. Like maybe a contest where you have to answer the question right and you advance to the next screen, then at the end you get a prize.

how about we do an essay contest AND an art contest?
ok, let me clear this up...we've got 7 seasons, right? hopw about we get 7 artists and 7 writers, and assign them a season and have the writers come up with a detailed essay about that season, and the artists base a piece of art on that season?
then, we have the rest of the baord vote for the winner.
we can get the Mods to assign the seasons, and PM those invovled so that the everyone else don't know who's doing what season.
did that make sense? lol
