Everytime I log in, my skin is changed. I thought maybe it had something to do with not saving my cookies but now it's even changing while I'm still logged in. It's not really a problem but it is annoying and I'm just kinda curious why my skin won't stay. The first time it changed, it was just some random one, now it switches to the forum default.

Its been happening to me too. REALLY crappy.

My eyes don't see well in this light and when I first saw the name of this thread, I missed the 'um' in forum and thought this thread was about something else!!

like Kryptonite said, it's not a huge problem, but i think we'd all like to know if there's something we're missing.

We just added a function to change your skin in edit options when you change it via the drop down at the bottom of the page. So it's probably just the change over to that. I haven't had any problems since it was first installed. So I would say, if you're having probs, try logging out and logging back in.

hey, im having these problems too! its nice knowing you're not alone...except that mine just keeps switching to the same one :silly:...and logging out doesnt help for me, cause it just switches randomly sometimes. i put it back, but its annoying to keep having to do that.

I meant, log out, log back in and choose your skin again. You can also make sure the one you want is selected in Edit Options.

Actually, I wouldn't mind it if there was a random button and everytime you loaded up you had a different Skin(unless you specifically wanted one)

I changed my skin after logging in an dout saved it and today i log in and forum default skin is here instead! So glad i'm not the only one here, i don't mind, it's just that i like my skin hee hee, Btw i had tru calling the first tine it happend and that was rather Cool!

well, i logged out, logged in again, changed my skin back to Fool for Love, saved it...and now it's on Salvage.
lol, it's actually kinda interesting coming back to see which skin you have! lol

I was working on it last night, so that might be why. I'm trying to get support from the person who wrote it, but it things don't settle down soon I'll remove it.

Nightmares is not finished yet, which is why it hasn't been announced.

I've had that problem too! In my Edit options bit it usually says Tru Calling but every time I log out and then come back it's changed, it's not that annoying though I keep finding skins I didn't know existed! It's quite fun to be honest!

Try not logging out and logging in (unless that's what you normally do).

I use I.E and I dont specifically logout everytime I leave but I dont save my cookies or whatever so when I come back, I need to login everytime.

I use IE and to be honest i HATE cookies i clear em every time i'm online.
If i log in and log out after saving my preferred skin i have no problem, it is usually when i come back the next day, sign in and see my skin has changed, today it was halloween GRRR ARRGGG hee hee

Actually it happened to me the first time I logged back in here a couple of days ago after being away for a while. The skin that appeared was the Oz one (New Moon Rising?) which I know I've never set myself.

It's been fine since then though.

I'm on the most up to date Internet Explorer and it's set to accept cookies, if that helps.

When I first come to the site, the skin changes, its not always on the default. Then, when I login, it sometimes changes to something random and sometimes keeps what it was when I first go to the site. Most of the time it's on the Angel skin whether I'm logged in or not but it still changes randomly.

Ooooo, the skin just jumped for me and it brought up this really cool one. It's black and green and has Faith, the Mayor and Buffy in the banner. It's nice, I want to keep it! What is it called? I don't think I've seen it before....

If you're logged out, then it shouldn't be the skin that you chose.

Okay, I wasn't going to say anything, but it is kinda grating on my nerves, mostly just 'cuz I really like my skin (season eight). I read that logging out, logging back in, and then going into Edit Options and choosing the skin helps, so I tried that. The first time I tried it, after I changed the skin and saved it, I logged out and logged back in and it went back to default skin. (Normally I don't log out and in -- I just let it "remember" me.) So I tried again today, and this time I didn't log out. I've been on here a good chunk of the day without logging out or leaving the site, and my skin stayed on until it suddently changed when I was moving about some threads. It went back to default, which I think is the 10th anniversary skin, which I don't particularly care for. I like my black-and-blue.

i was doing ok with this till yesterday, when it jumped from S8 to the 10th anniversary skin. it's no big deal, 'cause they both rock, but i just thought i'd let everyone know.

I just went to change my skin back to S8 in Edit Options, and instead of the drop-down menu saying "Use forum default," it actually had the "Buffy 10th Anniversary" skin selected. On the other occasions, it has jumped back to "Use forum default," so this was new.

Supposedly when you use the skin chooser on a page rather than in Edit Options, it does not permanently change your skin choice under your options, correct?

Well, I was using the skin chooser outside Edit Options, selected a random skin, and when I went into Edit Options my permanent skin choice had been changed to that one. So I'm thinking that somehow our permanent skin choices are being changed to match the forum default (or whatever skin is chosen temporarily from the drop-down on the bottom of the screen) for some reason.

Hope that makes sense. Thinking with my fingers again.

No, the reason this started happening is because we've changed it so that selecting the skin from the drop down DOES change it in Edit Options. So that we can get an accurate count of who's using which style.

Oooh, okay. Well, regardless, it still fits with my theory that maybe somehow the forum defaults that override our choices are permanently changing our choices in Edit Options. Just a thought. :)

Are you saying that, no matter what skin we choose under Edit Options, once we go somewhere where the forum default overrides our choice, it is changed under Edit Options even though that's not the skin we want? So no matter how many times I choose the S8 skin, it's going to be changed to an overriding forum default permanently until I go change it back to S8?

I still don't think I'm forming my thoughts properly....

When you choose a style from the drop down at the bottom left of the page, it also changes it in Edit Options.

The forum default is not overriding any of the forums styles. Only The Wishverse and The School have dedicated styles.

I'm not having any problems, but it's a known issue with the modification that some people have problems with random skin switching.

I still get the forum default wether or not i go into edit options change the skin save it,or change in the user control panel or not.
It is starting to get on my nerves a bit, my choice is salvage, and i get this problem whenever i log out go back in the next day!

Mine stopped doing it right after I had chimed in on this thread. I was using MSIE when it appeared to be fixed, and now I'm using Firefox and have never had a problem again.

I'm having the skin-switching problem now, and not in a body snatchers kinda way. Since I logged on today I've had three different skins randomly appear so far.

Not a major problem because it's kinda cool seeing skins I've never checked out before but I thought I'd mention it was happening in case it's part of a bigger board issue.

It's not a problem with the board, there's something wrong in the modification. There's nothing that can be done about it except remove it or wait for the person who wrote the mod to fix it.

I have tried doing everything stated. I am using IE. I want the Wish, I tried drop down, logging in and out thing, everything. But I keep getting serenity. :( I am very sad. It will sometimes stay the wish until I log out, then change back to serenity when I log back in. But sometimes even when logged in, it will change when switching threads. So I dunno.
