Have you heard about this one?
Buffy Omnibus Volume 1
The definitive comics collection of all things Buffy starts here. This first massive volume begins at the beginning-The Origin, a faithful adaptation of creator Joss Whedon's original screenplay for the film that started it all. The newly chosen Slayer's road to Sunnydale continues in Viva Las Buffy and Slayer, Interrupted. Next, Sunnydale, the Scoobies, and an English librarian lead the way into Season One continuity. Plus, The Goon creator Eric Powell provides pencils to "All's Fair," featuring Spike and Drusilla at the 1933 World's Fair.
The smash TV hit Buffy the Vampire Slayer led to nearly a decade of comics at Dark Horse-including multiple specials, one-shots, and guest miniseries. This omnibus series is the ultimate compilation of the Buffy comics Dark Horse has published, and runs along the TV series' timeline. A fitting companion to Whedon's comics-based relaunch of the show.

It's a smart idea of theirs to start re-publishing all the old comics, but apart from Origin none of the stories collected here are canon, right?
The description Dark Horse gives is a bit vague as to exactly what stories this omnibus collects but from what I gather the following stories are certainly going to be in it, in chronological order (at least I think so, I haven't actually read them all).
Spike & Dru: All's Fair
The Origin #1
The Origin #2
The Origin #3
Buffy the Vampire Slayer #51 - Viva Las Buffy!, Act 1: Broken Parts
Buffy the Vampire Slayer #52 - Viva Las Buffy!, Act 2: Full House
Buffy the Vampire Slayer #53 - Viva Las Buffy!, Act 3: Deuces Wild
Buffy the Vampire Slayer #54 - Viva Las Buffy!, Act 4: The Big Fold
Buffy the Vampire Slayer #56 - Slayer, Interrupted, Act 1
Buffy the Vampire Slayer #57 - Slayer, Interrupted, Act 1
Buffy the Vampire Slayer #58 - Slayer, Interrupted, Act 1
Buffy the Vampire Slayer #59 - Slayer, Interrupted, Act 1
But how about?
Buffy the Vampire Slayer #55 - Hoopy the Bear
Buffy the Vampire Slayer #60 - A Stake To The Heart, Act 1
Buffy the Vampire Slayer #61 - A Stake To The Heart, Act 2
Buffy the Vampire Slayer #62 - A Stake To The Heart, Act 3
Buffy the Vampire Slayer #63 - A Stake To The Heart, Act 4

Mm, I'll definitely buy this. Oh, and a long preview, which I liked, and cool that they included Dawn.
The Chosen

Yes, I really liked how they included Dawn. It added a certain familiarness to it. The scene where she hands Mr. Gordo to her was kinda heartbreaking to me. Not cuz she was giving Dawn Mr. Gordo, especially since she wasn't GIVING it giving it, but it was just so...nice.

It's a smart idea of theirs to start re-publishing all the old comics, but apart from Origin none of the stories collected here are canon, right?
The canonical value of the comics has always been in question, as far as I know. There's nothing to suggest that they are definitively canon like Season 8 is, but to the best of my knowledge there's been nothing in any of the canonical materials (IE, the shows themselves, Season 8) that discredits anything that happens in the comics, so in general I think the comics sort of float in this kind of limbo where it's up to the individual fan to decide what is and isn't canon.
Needless to say, either way, it's doubtful we'll ever see anything from any of this stuff affect anything that IS canon, so it kind of doesn't matter.
As for my thoughts on the book itself, I was kind of suprised when I saw it the other day. Firstly, it's small, paperback, and cheap. Generally, Marvel and DC's omnibus' are oversized hardcovers which cost upwards of $50, so I was pleasantly suprised.
I was also suprised at the way they organized the material, too. It makes sense that Dark Horse is going chronologically, but I would've assumed that they'd do it numerically (Buffy #1 - #63).
For the most part, I've never really been into the Buffyverse comics save for Season 8 - they've always kind of fallen flat for me. Needless to say, at this price, I'll pick these up for the sheer novelty of them.

I recommend this...I'm halfway through it and I think it's pretty good. I'm not a big fan of comics but season 8 comics have gotten me into them.

I bought it and I think its pretty cool. Definitely worth the money. I will be buying the next one when it comes out in September.
Dawn and Hoopy the Bear was funny.
i bought this because i'd never read Origins or the Vegas comics, but it was definitely worth 17 quid...or £17 is you want me to be polite! lol
i think it's a nice thing to have, to have them all in one place. i'll definetly be buying the rest.

I bought mine yesterday, was up until 2 AM reading last night, and finished it this morning. I enjoyed it, especially the Origins thing where they kind of blended the movie and the flashbacks from the series. Very nice.

I thought I'd jump on the bandwagon for this thing, since I've never read any illustrated Buffy adventures. I just received the first volume of the Buffy Omnibus by mail, and it only cost me 20 cents with membership ( get 5 books for $1.00 ) to the Science Fiction Book Club.......

I think it's definitley out, cause I saw it in the Forbidden Plant today when I was in picking up Season 8. I'm annoyed that I ordered Vol. 2 on the internet now, cause it's still not here and I could have bought it at the store today :(

yay got one (finally) and two in one hit. spent the day reading comics instead of doing housework. i'm really enjoying them. its good how they've published them in continuity order rather than jumping all over the place like when they were first published. really like the Spike and dru stories - they are so bloodthirsty!

Oh snap! Remember how I said I ordered volume 2 awhile ago? I went to my Borders to check if they had it, cause I hadn't gotten a phone call or email yet, and I had them look for it in the store, and they didn't have it so....the manager decided to special order another copy, and have it rush delivered. Best part? I'm getting it for free! I was very happy. Thank you, Borders.

I picked up the first Omnibus in the comic shop the other day, but haven't bought it yet. After the origin story, the numbers of the collected issues started at #50 and continued. Can someone explain why?
I'm assuming it's because they started with the comic series somewhere in the middle and had intentions to fill in #1-49 over time... but if there's 49 issues floating around, I'd definitely prefer to read those first before investing in Omnibi 1-3.
Any thoughts?

The omnibus is being published in continuity order rather than in the order they were published. When they were first published they jumped around a bit (time wise). There is also a good explanation in the front of the first volume.

I've already packed up my Vol. 1, but I picked up 2, 3, and 4, and I don't see issue numbers, just page numbers. Are you sure you're looking at issue numbers?
(Otherwise, someone who's got their #1 handy will have to tackle this question.)

Omnibus 2 is pretty good.
Has anyone read a stake to the heart? this is by far the best Buffyverse comic ive read.
The story is excellent, well put together and fits in perfectly with the beginning of Welcome to the Hellmouth.
Its original, well drawn and when you read it, it just feels like an episode of Buffy.
There aint much action in it, but the story and character development for the time is fantastico.

wow. just finished omnibus #4 and it was great. very nostalgic (mainly because it takes place during season #3).
anyway, for those of you looking for another episode of buffy, get omni 4 because there is an arc in it so long that it could be considered an episode. the arc is called "bad blood." i have to admit that i actually felt like i was watching the show when i was reading it. it had depth, story, character accuracy, etc.
plus, selke is pretty hot for a vampire demon diva.

Yeah, I got it a few weeks ago. Not as good as the previous ones, IMO, but that might be because I already have most of these comics in a TPB.

I thought #5 was the best one yet. The two main stories (the one about the mayor and Blood of Cathage) are easily the best Buffy comics prior to season eight, that i've read (not including TotS and TotV). Really enjoyable. Hope omnibus #6 is as good.
