Episode: Lie to Me
******************
Stakes: 3
This episode is a pretty good one in my opinion. It might not be action packed, but it drives something home about Buffy saving people from vampires...sometimes they don't want to be saved.
I do like how Angel is talking about how the kids in the basement who are vamp worshipers don't really know anything about vampires, especially how they dress, and that guy comes down the stairs wearing the exact same thing as Angel! It cracks me up!
I also have a fondness for Jason Behr, who plays Ford. He's kinda cute!

i liked the way they fused the natural with the supernatural, with Ford having cancer it gave the episode a new level, I think everyone can relate to it, I think in Ford's position, if I could, I would also choose to become a vampire, which may be a weakness and selfish but that is human nature. He was scared and lonely and totally real.

This episode has one of the best SMG delivered Buffy lines/facial expressions:
Buffy: I am trying to save you! You are playing in some serious traffic
here! Do you understand that? You're going to die! And the only hope you
have of surviving this is to get out of this pit right now, and my God,
could you have a dorkier outfit?
i give it three stakes.
it's not one of my fave eps, but it does carry a hard hitting stroyline, about what people put their faith in when they think they have nothing else left to live for.
mmm...Jason Behr...
some good scenes in this ep...like Angel and Willow in Will's bedroom. Angel and Willow work well together, i think. i wish we could have had more scenes with just the two of them. for some reason, i just like the dialogue between them when she's looking up stuff on Ford:
Willow: 'Uh, Angel, if i tell you something, do ya promise not to bite me?' Angel: 'Are you gonna tell me that I'm jealous?'
Willow: 'Well, you do sometimes get that way.'
i just think it's very natural and i love it.
this ep also produced one of my faborite scenes between Buffy and Giles, in the cemetery by Ford's grave.

hm...im gonna go with...
stakes: 4
i didnt like this in the beginning, but i think ive come to like it much more now. not a top episode, but still. first of all, the giles and buffy scene that lyri mentioned? so. love. that. scene. then, there's the jenny/giles stuff, which as you can infer from my banner, i also love :). its kind of cool how they tried to revisit buffy's old life. and like sineya said, it dealt with serious and important issues, and it did it well, in a way that had an impact. then there was the funny, like the clothing thing lyri mentioned (serves me right for being the 5th poster to constantly have to reference what other people said :silly:). i didnt find the angel and willow stuff especially interesting as a highlight of the episode or anything, but it was more good than bad. we're also introduced to chanterelle/lily/anne, who, though she is not my favourite character or anything, was useful in future episodes, to the point that she even got to make a small appearance in the angel finale. oh, and also, one of my favourite scenes is when buffy and the "vamp worshippers" are locked in that basement place, buffy grabs dru, and spike gives the two one look and says to let everyone go. you can see in that one look how much he cares about dru, and it is one of the first times where we are shown just how truly unique he is for an evil vampire. that and the buffy and giles scene at the end are probably the highlights of this episode for me.

Ford: "Oh, I thought you were just staking a vampire"
Buffy: "What? Whatting a what?"
Classis!
oh, i forgot about Anne! i though Anne's character was one of the most interesting in the entire series. she was only in a handful of eps, but i loved the arc of her character, and how she changed so much. it was nice to follow her through both series.
i likes the scene in the Bronze, when Ford says i know all your secrets, Summers, and Xander says, care to make a small wager on that.
Xander has some damn funny lines in this ep. the other one i remeber from the Bronze scene is when Angel shows up, and Ford asks who he is, then says, he's older than her, right? and Xander quips, you're not wrong.
lol, ok, i love Xander.
