Episode: The Dark Age

Stakes: 2

This is not my absolute favorite episode. I do happen to like Ethan Rayne, so it was nice to have him back. And he was pretty cool putting the Eyghon tattoo on Buffy, and then trying to get rid of his.

It was a shock though to discover that Giles had such a goofy past. You just didn't expect that!

The only thing that really confused me was the demon going into Angel and then being destroyed. I mean, I know that Angelus is a pretty powerful demon inside Angel, but don't you think he might not have fought off Eyghon? That he would've rather had Angel become a monster?

yeah, this episode isn't really a favorite of mine either, but i do enjoy the aspect of how we get to see a small part of giles' past and a side of his personality that is rarely (if at all) seen in his character on the show, and his interaction with ethan. which makes me wish that the 'ripper' spin-off would have happened. ::sigh::

anyways, having eyghon jump into angel, that was smart thinking on willow's part (cuz she came up with that idea). i don't necessarily think angelus had anything to do with it though. i mean, true, angel probably still had the power of angelus, but it wasn't him who had control over angel. angel had his soul, and after all those years of not really having a decent brawl, i guess it just over-powered eyghon and destroyed him.

There was only enough room inside Angel's body for one demon. Either Angelus would destroy Eyghon or visa versa. There was no way they could have co-existed side by side. So Angelus really didn't have a choice. The other demon was an intruder and had to be eliminated or it would have killed him and taken over. Besides, as Angel said, Angelus had been completely incapable of doing anything for a whole century. He had to watch as Angel lived his unlife in a way that contradicted everything Angelus stood for. So when the opportunity arose to have a good hearty tussle with a powerful demon, Angelus jumped on it.

I think it's a great episode to know more about Giles' past.
I really liked that joke that tardiness is like the 8th deadly sin to Giles. :)
also, that scene in the computer lab when the gang is trying to find out what is going on with Giles, that was fun too.

I agree with you in the Angelus thing. He was just waiting to kick some ass!! :)
