I was just wondering about the cheese man in Restless.
can anyone explain to me what's his job in there?
or is he like not important, just something we have in our dreams that doesn't have any meaning?
anyway, this probably is not very intersting but I always wanted to know what he's there for...if anyone could explain that to me it will be great! :)
the Cheese Man represented the part of our dreams that makes no sense no matter how much we try to interpret it. while 'Restless' was an important ep, and the gang were in serious danger from the Primative, they were still, essentially, dreaming.

^ Yeah, what she said. ^ :p
Joss tells us not to read too much into the Cheese Man, aside from the explanation Lyri just gave.

thank you guys!:) that's what I was just thinking but still I was not sure...
you always make it pretty simple, thankx!
Whedon said in the DVD audio comments that he had no meaning. It's just an absurd character in an episode full of symbols.

The reason for the Cheese man in the dream sequences in 'Restless' seem to be non specific.
So if you had to come up with a reason for him what would it be ?.
Hasn't a similar thread just been created ?

The cheese man exists because Buffy likes cheese! :p
Seriously though, who has never had a completely random person in a dream...I agree with everyone else here.
But then again....cheese! :lmao:

Also, remember that Willow told Riley that Buffy "likes cheese." Maybe she was just hungry and dreaming of a midnight snack.
I, too, wanted to know why he was so important but I was watching a commentary (which I've noticed some of you have mentioned) and Joss said it was just a random thing. I kind of wish that it did have a meaning and Joss was just holding out on us!
If it does have a meaning (wich I know it doesn't!) maybe it's telling us that Buffy might...um...expire soon? Like cheese doesn't take a long to go bad, but it eventually does, at the cheese I know. So, it's telling us that Buffy will die, but not very soon.
I think I thought about this too much...

It would have been very amusing if we just *thought* the cheese man had no meaning and then he became the villian for season five. Like, he was some sort of dream-trespassing demon who used magical cheese to take over the world (or something like that).
Um, yeah, random.

The cheese man is not a villian! There is no magical cheese...
*hides the magical cheese*
I miss TC, if he was here, he'd get it...he might not say anything, but he'd get it. :lmao:

The cheeseman was proof that they were still connected after bring Adam down. They all dreamed about the same man which means they were still connected and will be to the end. Atleast that's my thought on the matter...maybe the cheese could symbolize as potentials getting feed to the 1st evil like cheese on a platter.
Also that cheeseman looks like he could play an evil character, specifically on Angel tv show.
