I was looking around some Bebo bands a few days ago, and I found one called "The Ripper Movie" about Giles.

I looked and it said, there's set to be a TV movie on BBC 2 coming out next year, um, here's what it said:

'The "Ripper" TV movie is finally going to be made. This long-awaited spin-off from Buffy the Vampire Slayer features Rupert Giles(formerly Buffy Summers' Watcher). Joss Whedon plans to start flming January 2008. It is said to be set some time when Giles left Sunnydale in Season 6 to go back home to England. Where he will encounter something bad from his past. Joss said that the show would be in the tradition of "classic English ghost stories" and would explore the theme of loneliness.'

I assume your talking about the fan profile HERE (http://www.bebo.com/Profile.jsp?MemberId=4513990336).

I don't know where he got the firm production date from. The last confirmed report I heard from anyone who should know was from Joss at the San Diego Comic Con where he said a 90 minute Ripper from BBC will happen soon.

Reading the fan guy's report I'm curious to hear how Andrew can be in England during Season 6.

Oh, this is making me excited!

I can't wait to see how Joss is going to have everything fit into the "after season 6 but before season 7" timeline. And Tom Lenk is so funny, I just can't wait to see how he gets to England and what he does.

Thanks for the info Buffy obsessed fan and nerd4hire! :)

not sure about the whole set in Season 6 idea...i thought it was going to be set after the series' ending., maybe have some Slayers running around, plus, lik N4H said, Andrew. he was in Sunnydale in S6, he can't be in two places at once, can he?

Is Andrew definetly going to be in it?

i'm not 100% sure, but i think back when Joss first thought up the idea, he wanted Andrew to at least make an appearence. maybe he's change his mind since then?

That's just a member's comments on his profile page at bebo, right?

I think the season 6 idea comes from an old 2001 article in Buffy magazine. They go into it at Wikipedia

Edit

Just for the Hell of it, I did a search here at BB to see how the Ripper Rumors have morphed over the years. Here's some links.

12-10-2002 (http://buffy-boards.com/showthread.php?t=3188&highlight=ripper) - Supposedly a firm filming date from TV Tome (now TV.com) of September 2002. The characters of Whistler, and Willow were to appear.

03-17-2003 (http://buffy-boards.com/showthread.php?t=4398) - A two hour pilot was to start filming in the summer of 2003 with a possible 6 episodes to follow if it was successful. That from a site dedicated to Ripper.

17th of March 2003 (http://www.bbc.co.uk/cult/news/buffy/2003/03/17/3260.shtml) - Ash says this...

"I talked to Joss," told the Western Daily Press. "[and] he said that instead of getting himself committed to another hour-long detective show like Angel, he'd rather do a two-hour movie.

"It would look in depth into the character more. He's interested in Giles' character. It could be a one-off, and if anybody liked it, they'd go from there. At the moment, that's what I'm looking at. It makes more sense all round and I know the BBC are still up for it."

05-04-2004 (http://buffy-boards.com/showthread.php?t=12470&highlight=ripper) - The Andrew rumours surface.

Andrew could possibly appear in the way he was used in "Storyteller," as an outside narrator telling the story to a group of young Slayers. In that way, his presence would be the most logical for the Season 6 timeframe.

That would work well.

you really think andrew as a narrator on a giles based tv movie would be good? dont get me wrong i liked storyteller and i like andrews character...

has it ever been mentioned that ethan rayne could be involved in the story somehow? being called ripper i assume giles is gonna revisit some aspect of his past.

I don't know, I just...there's something about Andrew that I like, and it WOULD work out well him telling people, since it might get confusing if they were just suddenly back before season seven...

I think Ethan Rayne is in it.
