Seven Of Nine

I thought it was funny when Giles was smiling when talking about "the thrill of living on the Hellmouth"
I liked that Buffy tried to comfort Amy when she didn't make the cheerleading team. Looking back, I wish Amy had been part of the show a little more.
interesting fact that Cordelia flunked Driver's Ed twice. and the UPS truck that almost ran over Cordelia, never even slowed down. I find it hard to believe that the driver didn't see her at all.
earlier Buffy was wearing a big ugly purple ring, now she is wearing a big ugly red ring.
Xander wants to ask Buffy out for a date and Willow starts comparing about a chewed up pen that should be thrown away but you don't. Xander responds by telling her "you don't have to drive it through my head like a railroad spike". I'm wondering if that was put there on purpose as a reference to Spike or if it was merely coincidence.
I had forgotten that Buffy was sick at the end of this episode.

Favorite Quotes:
Willow: Giles didn't approve, huh?
Buffy: He totally lost his water.
Giles: But that's the thrill of living on the Hellmouth! (sits on the edge of the table) There's a veritable cornucopia of, of fiends and devils and, and ghouls to engage. (everyone looks at him) Pardon me for finding the glass half full.
Buffy: Mom, I've accepted that you've had sex. I am not ready to know that you had Farrah hair.
Joyce: This is Gidget hair. Don't they teach you anything in history?

O.O Is this a "fave moments" thread?!!? :-) Lots of good quotes in that one.
Xander: "I don't think it was your fault."
Buffy: "Of course you don't! That's because your my friend. You're my Xander-shaped friend. Do you know why I love you so?"
Willow: "We've got to get her to a hospital."
Xander: "Let her talk."
Buffy: "You're not like other boys... You're completely and totally one of the girls! I'm that comfy with him!"

i love willow's face after buffy says that and they're all walking away. it's priceless, hehe. like, she looks all worried that buffy's saying these things, and then that final line that xander's "one of the girls", and will gives a really funny smile or smirk... i love willow's funny faces & smiles, they're so cute!

Just watched The Witch and i do agree, i wish amy was in it a little more than she was. Though technically, she was, being a rat and all and in willow's room! I did like that she came back later.
I remember this is one of the episodes that i just thought the ending was so cool.

This is my second favourite episode in S1. It was a bundle of fun for me, and it starts from the beginning when Giles was telling Buffy she has a sacred birthright, chosen to destroy vampires, " not to..wave pompoms at people." He said pompoms with such disdain as if he considered waving pompoms as a vulgar act. One other scene that had me laughing was when Buffy accidentally threw that cheerleader against the wall.
Xander giving Buffy the bracelet with 'yours always' engraved on it was poignant for me because that was a sentiment that would resonate throughout the seven seasons. Correct me if I'm wrong but this is also the episode where the term slayerettes was invented by Willow.
My favourite line here is Xander's " I laugh in the face of danger - then I hide until it goes away." Typical Xander.
When I re-watch this, I can't help but be sad when I see Cordelia as a Queen B, knowing now how bad things turned out for her later. Actually I feel this way when I see Cordy from S1 to S3. And who would have thought the shy Amy here would eventually follow in her mother's path of wickedness. Amazing changes.
I cringe when Buffy sings Macho Macho Man. She couldn't sing YMCA instead? :lmao:
And I loved the ending when Buffy asked Joyce if she'd want to be 16 again, and Joyce says no. Me too, Joyce. Me too.

Definitely the first classic episode of Buffy. It's Freaky Friday yet so much better. So many great quotes too, I would say them but I think you guys have covered them all.
-Giles' pure shock shock horror at Buffy wanting to join the 'cult' that is cheerleading
-Xander's me-battle thing when he wants to ask out Buffy and he desperately asks Will 'will you ask her out for me?' then 'no. me man. me- battle'. Bless him.
- The Joyce/Buffy yearbook scene. Just love that entire scene. Perfect Mom-Daughter interaction with some cool one-liners from Joyce
- Buffy cheerleading scene when she's all hyper and erm...throwing people about (whoops)
-the end Joyce/Buffy scene, purely for Joyce's confusion (something that over the first two years became so lovingly familar to us all, haha) and her whole 'I don't get it'. And Nabila? Nice empathy with Joyce there. :-)
But yeah, I do think this is such a classic episode. Plus, it's our first introduction to Amy. You know *before* she started going all Like-Mother-Like-Daughter on us and advancing into evilness

I'm sorta sad Amy turned out wicked eventually - ever since 'The Witch' she was one of my favorite characters on the show.
Yeah, Cursed Buffy was way hilarious. And I like the fact this episode wasn't about vampires. Change is a good thing. Witchcraft always was interesting thing for me.
Yup, that's one of the best epps of this season.

This is one of my absolute fav episodes of all seasons, and probably one of my fav episodes from season 1 too. I really like Amy like she is here, and I wish she had been a regular on the show, at least until season 3, perhaps even more if not turned into a rat.
Oh and as for a favorite moment; Macho macho maaan!

Yesterday I decided to re-watch the series again, now I'm on this episode. I like it, and I like the theme of witchcraft for the first non-vampire episode, but I sort of wish they had chosen a different plot. However, I think the episode is pretty good with lot's of good moments. It's one of the stronger episodes of the first season. And if I remember correctly, a lot better than the episode following it, "Teacher's Pet".
One of my favorite moments other than the ones listed above is when Buffy takes a peek at the fertility statue and says "Jeepers". It's a small little moment but it made me laugh while I was trying to eat my Ramen noodles. :)

I love how there is a later episode, i think in season 2...? where oz notices the trophy amy's mom gets trapped in and says its like its eyes follow you. i loved that reference and that only people who had been following the entire series would get it!

I agree, the show does little references like that all the time. It's pretty awesome.

Now, there's a plot twist for Season 8: Mama escapes from the trophy and comes lookin' for revenge...

I loved how they went straight into the next episode with something other than a vampire. It showed that the series wasn't going to just be about a girl slaying vampires.
I love the bit near the end where Xander and Willow run in with the ax. It was hilarious.
