View Full Version : Why is it that people disliked what was done to Cordelia in this season?

I mean it really wasnt all that bad. When she became a half demon it made sense considering that Doyle was a half demon and he could withstand the visions. What didnt make sense is how Cordelia was able to handle them so perfectly co nsidering that even in Doyle's half demon state he felt a slight pain. Anywhoo back on topic the whole ascending to a higher plane wasnt all that bad either . i think it was just where they took that whole situation in S4 was kinda of bad being possesed in all. But if Cordy hadnt been ascended how would S3 have ended.
What do you guys think?

I don't mind that story arc at all, actually. All makes sense to me.
It's the 'Cordy and Angel falling for each other' thing that irritates the hell out of me. I don't buy it for one millisecond, it just seems incredibly unlikely and contrived.

I think that Connor still would've screwed over Angel & Cordy some how even if she hadn't ascended.

I don';t have any issue with the arc, even the fact that she didn't get the pain that Doyle did.
Doyle was half-demon. He had the Visions thrust upon him and had to deal.
Cordelia was human and the PtB's(or Jasmine) changed her. With that in mind, they had an infinite amount of demons to 'cross' her with, and i'm pretty sure they knew which could take the pain and also those who wouldn't feel any while retaining a human form.
Thats what I think happened there.

I agree. They were great as friends, but I just didn't see them as a couple. I think it was a Joss thing to make the end of the season that much more heartwrenching; if losing Cordy and having to watch Connor be a butt wasn't enough for you, here's this horrible thing where they're in love but they'll NEVER GET TO TELL EACH OTHER! NEVER!! (Sob)

I liked what happened to cordy in this season and seemed like a natural progression type of thing to me, we all knew the visions would lead somewhere for her... and they did

Can someone please explain to me how Cordy turned evil? I have been watching reruns and they keep scattering episodes so I am so confused. Thanks!

After she got turned half-demon, at the end of season 3 Skip reappeared and told her it was time to move on from the earthly plane, that she was "ascending" to the heavens, Godhood or something.
It was a giant con, all part of a plan to get her up there so she could be possessed by 'Jasmine'. She came back early in season 4, amnesiac. Eventually the gang found a spell to get her her memories back, but unfortunately 'woke up' the evil hiding inside her that had hitched a ride down to Earth. It controls her for most of the rest of season 4 (though we don't know it at first) using Cordy's body as an 'incubator' until it essentially gives birth to itself - the real Jasmine.
Hope that helps. Cripes, I'M confused now! lol

Me, neither. I just started watching this season again but got sidetracked due to an overwhelming amount of schoolwork (what happens in grad school, I guess), so I've been all frustrated. This is only the second time I've watched this season, and I hated it the first time around, but I think that's because I didn't really understand the overall story arc. I'm going to watch much closer this time--when I have a chance, that is!
