I've been posting this stuff on the thread for Amber Benson's Web Series, but this new one by Felicia Day who played Vi in Season 7 is pretty good. It needs it's own thread. It's called The Guild.

At this time there's 3 installments with more to come. So far they've been posted first at YouTube.

YouTube - Broadcast Yourself. (http://www.youtube.com/user/watchtheguild)

They then go to The Guild's homesite.

Watch The Guild (http://www.watchtheguild.com/episodes.html)

Felicia Day has a blog, and it's fun.

The Flog Back! Relaxed! Ugh...emails..... (http://feliciaday.net/blog/2007/09/02/back-relaxed-ughemails/)

The Guild is really good, it's really funny and entertaining. It's a really good idea, and it just makes it better that she is an actual game player not just useing it as a way to get laughs!

Her blog is also really good, I really wanna see her in more stuff!

I think I have a serious friends-crush on Felicia, she's just awesome. I haven't seen anyone portray a gamer with some sort of social anxiety disorder that brilliantly in a long time (if ever!).

I'm with you girl, she seems very awesome, and I always like people who does things themselves, like she's done with The Guild. Also, really like her blog.

I was just reading Felicia Day's bio at their site. She sounds like a bit of a Braniac.

FELICIA DAY (Codex) was born in Huntsville, Alabama. She was home-schooled all her life and got her first acting role as Scout in the Huntsville Little Theatre production of "To Kill a Mockingbird." Felicia started college at 16, majoring in violin performance, and then in mathematics at the University of Texas at Austin. She has been on television shows such as "Windfall", "Strong Medicine", "Monk", "Love Inc.", and most notably had a recurring role as Potential slayer Vi on "Buffy the Vampire Slayer." She has been in such films as "Bring it on Again", "June" and most recently the Emmy award-winning "Warm Springs", with Kenneth Branagh. Check out her blog The Flog! (http://www.feliciaday.net/blog/)

Watch The Guild (http://www.watchtheguild.com/cast.html)

I was getting impatient for the next entry in the series, so I was checking around for info on when it's coming out.

If you want a fix for something that's kind of like The Guild while you wait, try this one - Pure Pwnage (http://www.purepwnage.com/)

Oh, and this from the Oct. 4 entry of Felicia's blog.

Bah. Anyway, it’s been a mad scramble ever since I got back because we’re shooting new Guild episodes this weekend, yay! We had been holding off because of finances and a few companies being interested in helping us produce, but we finally got enough money in our Guild donation box to make the bare minimum for our budget, and we decided to go ahead and shoot! Thanks so much to anyone who donated, you really made it possible for us to “keep the funny going” :)

So now, I need to finish rewriting and get the script to everyone, get people to help work on the crew and be extras, and I need to find a few fake ficuses. Not necessarily in that order. It’s going to be hectic getting everything together, but it’s fun to be shooting again, these episodes are going to be really fun!

Thanks for posting those links! i just watched all three episodes and they are great. it looks like it took a lot of work to put it together.

p.s. make sure you watch episode 3 all the way through the credits. there is a funny outtake afterwards.

Felica's blog is pretty entertaining. If you just check that every once in a while, she'll tell you when the next one is coming, and when it's up. Here's another link.

yeah, ive seen the flog, and it is interesting. however, some of the posts can get pretty lengthy. if i cant get on the computer for two days, then come back on here, i go straight to BB, where sometimes there is also lengthy stuff i read, and i only have so much free time :). if i check it just for new episodes, ill be tempted to read more :D. when its posted it here however, i just go 'ooh, new post', give it the short read, and then head on over to youtube; much simpler :silly:.

They won an award for The Guild.

Live from Austin! I wanted to share with everyone that tonight we won the Greenlight Awards at SXSW! I can’t believe how exciting it was to get up there and bumble through a “thank you” speech. Articulate I was not :) Anyway, I dedicated it to the fans of the show, and especially the donors because without them, we would have no cameras rolling! So, thank you, ever single person who has watched. It’s truly a dream come true. :) Coincidentally, I came home to an email that we are one of 5 finalists for the Yahoo web series award! What a week! The other series are ahead of us in votes, so if you could click on the badge below, or go to: Yahoo! Video Blog Yahoo! Video Awards: Best Series (http://www.yvideoblog.com/blog/2008/03/11/yahoo-video-awards-best-series/) vote, I’d so appreciate it! I’m going to have half a rum and coke as a celebration! Whoooo! Such a lightweight!!

The Flog (http://feliciaday.net/blog/)

Did you notice you can vote for it for another award? I didn't even look at the other nominees yet. I just voted for Felicia, and left the others to watch later. :)

It must be awards season, or something. The Guild is up for another one you can vote on. This time it's the YouTube video awards.

I just started watching these, and they're so great! I do find it sad that I actually understand everything they're saying, though, since I used to play World of Warcraft...meh, oh well, that just makes it funnier. And I love Felicia! Just started reading her blog, and I love how she actually says, "I call shenanigans! I’m a slayer goddamnit, I could snap that punk like a twig!"

Now, I'm even more excited for Joss' online musical.

They won the YouTube Award (http://www.youtube.com/ytawards07winners). Received among the top votes in any category.

Murdered in the Yahoo Video awards (http://www.yvideoblog.com/blog/2008/03/21/the-yahoo-video-awards-the-results/). The last time I checked they had more than double the votes of the runner-up. +8000.

They also won something called The Greenlight Award (http://www.thefreelibrary.com/The+Greenlight+Awards+Announces+Competition+Finali sts.-a0176212110).

Here's (http://feliciaday.net/blog/2008/03/12/we-won-and-other-pleadings/) a link to Felicia announcing the Greenlight one.

Google flew all the YouTube winners to the Google compound to accept their prizes. Felicia talks about it Here (http://feliciaday.net/blog/2008/03/22/almost-home/). Sound impressive. Also...sounds like she's finished filming her part on Joss's Dr.Horrible online musical thing.

There's a video up now where Felicia thanks her fans for voting for her in the youtube awards.

YouTube - The Guild DDR Video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LES3ORNC-3E&eurl=http://www.watchtheguild.com/guild-thank-you-follow-up-video/)

The second part of the video warps into something else. Seeing as she's working with Barney in Dr. Horrible now I can put it to you this way. It is legen...wait for it...dary.

And oh, has this episode been posted yet?

If you want a Felicia fix before that there's another web series called "Retarded Policeman". They did an April Fools video where they spoofed their own series. Felicia appeared on it.

YouTube - Retarded Policeman (Episode 7.5) (http://youtube.com/watch?v=fE1KivIjXI8)

For cheap belly laughs it worth clicking around there for other entries to the Retarded Policeman series.

One of the many great things about Buffy is the actresses give great interviews. Felicia is interviewed by WOW podcasters...

HERE (http://www.howiwow.org/?p=7)

It's long, but it's great. A little WOWcentric. I didn't have a clue what they were talking about most of the time, but still enjoyed it.

The Guild Season 1 ends with episode 10. She says they're getting funding for Season 2, and it will come out more frequently in bigger chunks. Her and the rest of The Guild will be at Comic-con.

She also expects Doctor Horrible to come out before Comic-con. June or July. She says she's seen the rough-cut, and it's fantastic.

I know this thread is like wicked old, but just had to say that a friend pointed me in the direction of The Guild today and I just whizzed through the episodes. It's freakin' hilarious. I love it. Felicia really makes me laugh the way she plays Codex. Actually all the actors do.

It makes me wonder though where she got the inspiration for these characters.......I mean seriously, they can't have come purely from her head alone right?

nerd4hire

If you click on that podcast in the post above yours Felicia goes into her days as a video game nerd, and how the show developed.

This thread is old but it's updated regularly. Come to think of it, isn't there some sort of finale coming soon, or something.

I can't remember if there's an interview where this is mentioned on this thread, but there will be a second season. Felicia expects it to be financed, and therefore bigger and more flashy.

Joyce Summers
06-03-2008, 05:58 PM
Yes, I think there is a second season coming soon. I heard that too. So we're either equally delusional or it's true. She's doing a podcast interview later this week as well I believe. When I find out the exact date for that I'll post.

When Dr. Horrible comes out Felicia is going to be the Web Series Queen (if she isn't already).

Hahaha, I totally agree. She would need a crown. Or possibly a cape. I would say both but that might look a little too much. Best to just choose one. ;)

I think they're calling this one the Season One finale.

yay! awesome! :D so, if its the finale, does that mean there's a longer wait for season 2, or just that the season one plotline is over?

nerd4hire
07-01-2008, 05:14 PM
I think I heard something like she's hopeful for some money coming in from advertisers for season 2. There's some sort of plan to monetize it anyway. In this way Season 2 will be bigger, badder, bolder, with a cast and crew that actually gets paid.

I wouldn't be surprised to see them grab their own site. Something like what Pure Pwnage (http://www.purepwnage.com/) does, or Dr. Horrible (http://drhorrible.com/) plans to do.
