First off I love this episode because I always love the backstory on Spike, Dru, Angel, and Darla together. But I was just wondering about Cecily Adams did she later become a vengence demon have we ever heard back story on that because i know it is the same actress who played Halfrek and I know that when Halfrek first encounters Spike it is a little awkward like they had a past is she Cecily who turned into Halfrek. Just wondering if anyone had back story on the character.
Thanks.

I always thought that might have been the case. Thanks for clearing it up for me :)
i think it's pretty common knowledge that Halfrek was Cecily, but i don't think she was Halfrek when William knew her.
Vengence demons are known for not staying in one place too long, and going where the vengence was ripe, or whatever. Cecily seemed pretty well established in the social scene in 1880, and it was obvious that William was in love with her for a long time. in my opinion, sometime after William 'disappeared' something happened to Cecily that brought her to D'hoffryn's attention and he made her a vengence demon. she was a demon in 1905, as shown in the S7 episode 'Selfless' but i think she was human in 1880.

Actually the comic you're thinking of is "Spike: Old Times" written by Peter David so no, not canon. I'm pretty sure that it was realised after casting that the same actress who had been employed to be Halfreck was the same one who'd played Cecily so the writers decided to add in the joke of Halfreck recognising Spike as William because they knew the fans would pick up on it anyway. So really, there is no difinative answer for your query - i think this is said in one of the commentaries.
