If Cordy was possessed by Jasmine after 'Spin the Bottle' then why did she talk and act so much like Cordelia even when she was alone? Like in Orpheus when she's in her room trying to resist Willow's magic, she's got the whole Cordelia talk down but if it really was Jasmine why would she bother pretending when no one was around?

It is a very good question you've asked there SlayerGuy91. I have a theory, but nothing more than that.
I think that Jasmine's possession didn't mean she was not literally in control of Cordelia's body, but rather that Jasmine had infected Cordy's mind. The way I imagine it worked was that Jasmine fed Cordelia all these ideas and suppressed her conscience. I guess it would be more akin to mind control than a typical possession, except that the source was internal.

I recall somebody saying something along the lines of "She's [Cordelia] in there, just very deep down" - or something like that anyway.
Presumably this is her soul, the thing that makes her Cordelia. The issues are too confused in the verse to try and untangle, but lets work with that. Taking a suitably Cartesian approach to matters, there has to be some psycho-physical interaction going on then, between the brain and the mind (soul, self, whatever).
So perhaps it was that Jasmine was in control - in place of where Cordelia's soul would normally be. Jasmine's essence or soul had to communicate with Cordy's brain, so whatever Jasmine wanted was being put through a 'Cordy' filter which is why she still sounded and acted so much like her... if that makes much sense!
And, let's remember, it is a TV show and the writers have to create conflict and intrigue and this was a very good way to keep us hanging on.
I can't remember her saying saying anything that Jasmine definitely wouldn't say. Her demeanor was different because she seemed a little pissed (in Orpheus). I can't remember seeing anything that was super Cordy like (I mean Cordy wouldn't have done those things) and the vernacular ("You wanna go Glenda") wasn't exclusive to Cordy, so I never found a problem with it.

What Allycat said.
It wasn't an exorcist type possession, but rather like a clouding or something. Jasmine was in there, and lets face it she wasn't evil and she wasn't good, she just was.
Compare her to a lurker on the boards. She was there fully aware of what was happening on the outside, but only stepped out from behind the shadows of something really upset her or didn't go her way. Otherwise she was just sorta along for the ride.

It seemed sort of like what happens to vampires...its the body with the character traits and memory but somebody else has set up house inside...

You people haven't been pregnant lately have you? I think that accounts for the weird "possession" type stuff quite easily. I think Cordy had a MUCH easier time than I did with my daughter. (Well, I never made my husband slaughter a virgin....but that's not to say if it had lasted much longer I wouldn't have!)
I never thought Jasmine had possessed her. More that she had to be "infected" with something to actually GET pregnant with her. Making her HER, but not necessarily the one driving the boat. Who was driving the boat? I figure whatever Human Demon Growth Hormone that makes you pregnant for a few weeks and then give birth to a fully grown woman from another plane of existance.

I never saw it like that before. Who knows, maybe it was just the demon hormones making her uber bitchy and evil. LOL

I've heard about those hormones, but murder? Wow, I didn't think it was that bad.
Once again my intention of never having children is re-affirmed.

All those things are possible. Or maybe Jasmine didn't want them to know, she got really good at acting like Cordy and did alone to rehearse...? My ideas suck :p

Thanks for the answers guy but I have another question. Why on earth was Cordelia making out with the beast in Salvage?!

Hormones make you frisky! LOL..^
I think back to when the Gang tried to figure out what happend. After the so called "memory spell" was broken it wroke it up after being disorientated from comming down from a celestial place,Then she S**ged Conner then got preggers, Skip said She wasn't driving but was in there somewhere, Cordy said herself that it hijacked her body, so I take it that it "absorbed her character" possessed by Jasmines will, making her a puppet to do her bidding, then leaves her for dead.

Oddly, not unlike regular pregnancy. I was SURE my daughter was an alien of some sort.....or a moose.

Do you think Jasmine meant what she said when she said to the gang about Cordelia coming out of the coma when the world had achieved eternal happiness? The coma wasn't really explained that much only that she was in it for a while then died. Did she suffer? Was she aware of her surroundings?
