Who Is Drogyn?

That is the one question I never quite understood the answer to, and I've had to assume I just missed it somewhere along the way, which means YOU GUYS know the answer!

Angel seems to know him. Even seems kind of surprised that he's there guarding the well.

So......do WE know him from before or just Angel?

I tried very hard to pay attention...but there are just SO MANY demons and things to keep up with!

He never appeared on the either series before and his not in any of the canon comics either. So, we, the fans, didn't know him from before, only Angel and Hamilton did!

As Allycat said, we were never told who he was.

Personally I think that it may have been greater for the story if Drogyn had actually been Groo.

His 'can't lie' thing was simply written in so that we wouldn't question the Illyria thing and because we didn't know Drogyn, we had no reason to trust him BUT had it been Groo we'd have believed him.
It would also have ben great to have Angel tell Groo that his princess was dead.
On top of that, how much GREATER would the sacrifice of Groo been at the end of the season and it would have made us really unsure of Angel's intentions.
