I have been slacking and have not purchased a comic since the first four issues.
I was wondering if anybody knows the odds of a "Season 8" book coming out eventually. I am talking about ONE book that will contain all of the comics from season 8.
Otherwise I am gonna have to start doing some e-bayin to catch up. Thanks for any help.

Obviously, it's too early for Dark Horse to start talking about that (even though a lot of fans have, already.) They are, however, doing TPBs of the different arcs - the first one, with issues 1 - 5, was just released.

if you don't want to e-bay them there is a great website: Online Comic Book Store - Things From Another World (http://www.tfaw.com) that sells all of the comic and the TPBs for a pretty good price you might want to check it out it is where I buy all of mine. Hope that helps.

Well, being the sad person I am, I was looking online at Buffy books to tell my parents what I wanted for christmas, and I found this:
WHSmith: Books: Buffy the Vampire Slayer Long Way Home Season 8: Whedon, Joss (http://www.whsmith.co.uk/WHS/Go.asp?isbn=1593078226&DB=220&Menu=Books)
It's obviously not the whole thing, but I think they might do that for every 5 or so issues.

People stop the insanity, don't wait for the entire season 8. There will be like 50 Issues, you're waiting for 2 years!!! :p Just get the TPBs, Issues 1-5 are out now in one bundle, and Issues 6-10 should be given a release date soon, as a TPB also.

I didn't, i only started watching Buffy last year, at which time i got to see two episodes, straight after each other, every day ;)

I think they are making too many to collect in a single book, which is great.
Maybe years from now they will do an omnibus series that reprints all of Season 8 in smaller pages and fewer volumes.

I'm new to the whole concept of comics. Aside from the Sunday morning funnies, I've never read a single comic book.
Could someone please introduce me to the concept?
I have a lot of questions: What's a TPBs? What's the release schedule? How do I know when a new one comes out? Where can I even buy the darn things?
Okay, so maybe I only have four questions.

Go to Buffy Eight at TFAW.com (http://www.tfaw.com/Search?quick_sstring=buffy+eight&_results_sstype_search=)
and there you can see all the Buffy season 8 so far. The TPBs stand for Trade Paper Back, which means they kinda are like books ..graphic novels I suppose, because they include around 5 Issues, instead of just 1. So The Long Way Home TPB includes Buffy 8.01>8.05 and soon they will release the date for Buffy 8.06>8.10 (I think), but I don'twant to wait for the TPB so I just get each issue as it comes out. Also just noticed that tfaw has The Long Way Home half price right now, if anyone wanted to get it cheap... if they don't live near a comic book store like me. :) Hope that made sense.

Thanks for the link, Kanga.
So I checked Kanga's link and I looked at the preview. And now I have more questions:
Are all of the comics so heavy on the exposition, or is that just for the first couple of pages of the first issue? Also, how many pages comprise a typical issue? I now know that they're grouped in books of 5 issues each, which is helpful, but how many issues comprise a typical "season?" I ask because roughly $15 (for a book) seems like a lot of money to spend on something that I'm used to watching on TV. I want to know what to expect for my money before I buy! :-)
Oh, and what's the difference between one printing and another? Each issue provides an issue number as well as a printing number. Is any one printing better than another?

Exposition varies on the comic. We don't know how many issues are going to be in season 8.. Joss has mentioned more then 50.
The price is typical of prices for TPBs as far as I can tell. And they make different covers, everything is the same on the inside though. :) I'd recommend any Buffy fan taking a look.

To answer a few more of your questions. A typical issue of Buffy has about 22 to 24 pages of actual comic. There's also a couple of advertisements and two pages filled with a selection of letters to the editor. The forthcoming Angel comics are going to be 26-28 pages a piece if I'm not mistaken.
Like kanga said there's no actual difference in content between different prints of one issue, except the covers are different. Also, the value of a first printing is usually much higher for collectors. Dark Horse has a policy of printing the number of pre-orders plus 10% (this is pretty standard in the comic-book business) but because many more people have gone out and bought the comic they've had to re-print it several times. The first one has no less than five reprints. Because after the first one the pre-orders became higher, the next few issues have enjoyed less reprints than the first one, which is not to say that they weren't succesful.
Anyway, I'm digressing. The schedule for both Buffy and Angel is a monthly one.
