How come when Wes broke the box and returned everyone's memory to reality Connor's "pseudo-parents" didn't remember that he really wasn't their son?

My theory is that Connor's pseudo-parents were paid by Wolfram and Hart, anonymously of course, to take Connor in. I think that the right amount of money would convince a family who needs it, and I'm sure there were subtle threats involved if they ever squealed. Well, that's all I can think of.

I think the only memories that were returned were the ones of those that were there when the box broke.

Nobody besides Connor and Wesley really reacted, so I have to agree with VG that it only affected those present. As happy and loving as the family looked, I don't think they were "paid off" or "threatened," and they obviously had no idea what was "wrong" with him when they brought him to WR&H--or what WR&H really was.

There you go white avenger, that's the problem with premature eja....sorry, premature senility, it makes you forget things.
I wonder, did I forget what the question was ?, it's no point asking myself as I probably won't remember what I'm asking myself.

It's just a theory, and I did say W&H offered anonymously. Connor's parents didn't have to know who else was involved nor what Connor's problem really was.
I thought when a spell is broken, everyone involved would be free. This one even had a container yet when it broke it seems the rest of the memories didn't fly back to their owners. But then again, that's entertainment, after all there were other things that were swept under the rug without explanation. This is probably because of the premature demise of the series. :)

When the box was broken, everyone's memories of the original events were restored, but the false memories were still in place too. I think that Connor's adoptive parents simply decided not to abandon the kid who they remembered as their son. Sure, it might have been weird, but it's the same thing as happened with Dawn. Even when the Scoobies found out she wasn't real, they still accepted her.

I actually watched this episode last night.
The Orlon box was a window to the truth,it wasn't where the memories were held per se.
Vail even says that if the box is broken it has the ability to make people close by see the actual events.
This means the ONLY people to know what happened are Wes, Illy and Connor no one else was in the vicinity.
This also means that Gunn and Lorne could feasibly be without knowledge of who he is.
There is no mystery here.
Yep!
Vail: You have to be careful with it, though.
If it were to break around someone whose mind had been altered, then
all his old memories would come rushing back.

Exactly. And that's why at the end of that Ep. when Angel and Connor are back at WR&H chatting, the viewer is unsure as to whether Connor got his memories back, because he was in another room, with that wierd forcefield thing. It's all about location :P
