Where is all the Anya loving. Surely you all love Anya as much as I do! :grouphug:

Anya: "I don't understand! I don't understand how this all happens. How we go through this.
I mean, I knew her, and then she's... there's just a body, and I don't understand why she just can't get back
in it and not be dead anymore. It's stupid. It's mortal and stupid. And Xander's crying and not talking.
And I was having fruit punch, and I thought, well, Joyce will never have any more fruit punch, ever.
And she'll never have eggs or yawn or brush her hair. Not ever. And no one will explain to me why."

Top ten reasons why I love Anya

10. She's the cutest of the scoobies with her lips as red as rubies and her firm, yet supple... tight embrace.

9. She's the only one of the bunch with a decent work ethic. I don't know what she did as Aud. But as Anyanka, she was known as the best in her field. As barely-high-school-educated Anya, she then turned around and quickly worked her way up to become a successful business owner. Go, Go girl power!

8. She just says the darnedest things! Gotta love a lady who can make you laugh.

7. Anya is a big fraidy-cat at first. But it doesn't take her long to dawn the bunny suit... or take up the broadsword. She even goes up against Buffy! The girl is brave.

6. Anya stands apart from the scoobies and judges people objectively and within context. That's why Halle can be a vengeance demon, but still a much beloved friend. Half the guests at the wedding are demons. She's also the only scooby who is kind to Spike. She has a more mature view of good and evil and she allows room for mistakes -- even if you're on the "evil" side of the fence.

5. Anya has got a healthy appetite for sex. Nice to see a lady who can enjoy sex without feeling guilty about it. Go Anya! Get your groove on!

4. She stands by her man. Anya's got loyalty in spades. Even when he lives in the basement and even when he's going through loser job after loser job, money-grubbing Anya looks past that and begins to love Xander for the good, caring, brave man that he is.

3. She questions nonsensical and/or outdated social norms. She trusts to reason. Gotta love a girl with a good head on her shoulders.

2. She's the most honest person on the show - even when it's not polite or PC.

1. Watching her struggle with her humanity is just plain beautiful.

Anya is definitely one of my favorite characters. I've been rewatching Season 5 and she just says the funniest things.

ANYA: God, who, who would put something like that there? Is this supposed to be some sort of sick joke?
[She picks it up. It's a small toy bunny]
ANYA: I mean, things aren't bad enough! (pause) This is an omen.
XANDER: Hey, hey, shh. (rubs her shoulders)
ANYA: No, no, it's an omen. It's a higher power, trying to tell me through bunnies that we're all gonna die.

Anya's my second favourite character, she used to be my main favourite character but then for some reason I started liking Tara more. When Anya died I cried so much, and you didn't even seenthe death properly *wipes tears on a hanky* :p Anywho, Anya kicks ass.

Anya is one of my favorite characters on Buffy. She has such a bluntness that is just so completely refreshing and she's great for comic relief when things get too tense. But she can be so touching also and her bluntness sometimes just brings clarity to a situation that we would have otherwise been wandering around aimlessly in with the characters. She's great- with inadvertent sarcasm too! haha.
I loved this exchange:
Anya: I can just hear you talking about me! 'I dislike that Anya. She's newly human and strangely literal'
Willow: I don't say that. No one says that. [quietly to her] Nobody talks that way.
[Dialogue]
Anya: If it wasn't for me Giles would be a terrified old man staring at a quartetly taxt statement and wetting himself.
Giles: I say that's an exageration
[dialogue in which Will and Xand point out that Will helps out, but Anya gets paid for her work]
Anya: [with false sincerity] Thank you for taking time out of your busy life to come in here and get in the way of mine [insincere smile]

I love it. And her touching speeches as well such as the oh so famous 'I don't understand' and her 'i wish joyce didn't die because she was nice and now we all hurt'. and this in end of days:

"Well, I was kinda new to being around humans before. And now I've seen a lot more, gotten to know people, seen what they're capable of and I realize now that they're just so...amazingly... screwed up! I mean, so really, really screwed up in a
monumental fashion! They have no purpose that unites them so they drift around, blundering through life until they die. which they know is coming and yet every single one of them is surprised when it happens to them. They're incapable of thinking beyond what they want at that moment. They kill each other, which is clearly insane, but here's the thing. When it's something real, they fight. I mean, they're lame morons to keep fighting. bt they do. They... They never quit. And so I guess I will keep fighting too"
I love that speech; it's so powerful, touching, totally Anya and does actually sum up what we humans are like! hehe

I'm so happy you all love Anya, too!

I can really relate to Anya. Not that I've ever been a demon. No. Nothing like that. But I am obsessed with money and also "strangely literal." It drives my friends insane. lol.

It's like there's this whole layer or filter or something that most people have, but for whatever reason, I seem to lack. Last night, my friend and I were talking about a TV sit com in which these two kids who were having sex with one another in the previous act were asked at school (or, really forced) to sign an abstinence pledge. I cocked my head to the side, looked at my friend, and I said, "But they're already having sex. Clearly, the terms of the agreement are no longer applicable." My friend just rolled her eyes.

Mostly because it's what I do, I love the way Anya always goes for the logical heart of the matter. She just makes so much darn sense. I am glad the writers had the courage to write a character like her - someone who was not maudlin or sentimental or even particularly nice, but was still very real and strong and possessed of many other admirable qualities. I really feel for her when the others look at her like she's insane or insensitive for cutting through the stupid emotional who-ha and bringing up a very valid and sensible point.

That's exactly it- that's what makes Anya so great. Like in season 6 after Tara had left Willow and everyone was all walking on eggshells about lonely Will using magic and Anya suddenly says 'oh for crying out loud. Im fed up of everyone acting like everythings normal when we all know that Tara left you and we're all worried about how much magic you're using except everyone's afraid to say anything to you' and then she like smiles all proudly and adds 'except me' before turning to Xander and asking 'is this what you were talking about? the thing that I do'.
And I totally empathize with your Anya attitude palabravampiress. I have a similar anya-esque attitude to life where people just look at you like 'you're insane. you're small and you're insane'. I mean I'm not nasty I just...I only ever beat about the bush when it's absolutely necessary. I mean there's this guy at work who *nobody* likes, because he's one of those know-it-all-i-have-something-to-say-about-everything types and everyone else just smiles and is all chatty when he comes over but then complain about him afterwards. He came over to me the other day. I just looked at him and stated, not unpleasently, 'go away'. Simple, direct, to the point. 'strangely literal' haha
