The guy writing the article compares this new movie to Big. I see that, but I also see kind of Freaky Friday meets Back to Future meets Peggy Sue Got Married. Let's face it it's nothing new, but it sounds like fun.
17 Dawns For Trachtenberg
Michelle Trachtenberg and Melora Hardin have joined the cast of 17, New Line's fantastical teen comedy starring Zac Efron, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Burr Steers is directing, while Adam Shankman and Jennifer Gibgot are producing via their Offspring.
In a scenario that turns the concept of Big on its head, the Jason Filardi-penned script follows a middle-age father who wakes up to find he's 17 again. In order to be close to his children, he enrolls in the same school that they attend.
Matthew Perry already has been cast as the grown-up version of Efron, while Leslie Mann plays his wife.
Trachtenberg (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) is playing Efron/Perry's daughter, who doesn't know that the boy she is crushing on is her father. Hardin (NBC's The Office) is the principal at the school. Production begins this month.

'doesn't know the guy she is crushing on is her father'- omg that is directly from Back to the Future, you're right! (One of the best films *ever* by the way haha). This film doesn't sound life-changing, great-critique worthy but it sounds like it'll be just a good ole fun film and I don't think we have enough of those lately that aren't overly complicated and you can just sit and enjoy. Plus, I think Michelle's a great actress and I like Matthew Perry so I'll probably end up watching it- no matter how much Zac Efron may aggravate my annoyance vibes.

This Efron fella is EVERYWHERE! I just had my eight year old neice tell me he is dreamy! Kinda freaking me out!
All those movies jumped into my head too when I read about it...original it ain't! seems like harmless fun though

Sounds cool =]
Though the 'Crushing on her Father' part is slightly creepy
:p

Yeah, it is, but it was a great premise for comedy in Back to the Future when Lorraine was coming onto her son, Marty. Marty's panicked expression is just a screencap dream, it's hilarious.
And if this film can pull off the same humor without being cheesy or over the top then it will have at least some points/success.

Actually....good point. I actually can't stand Efron. My little (3rd...2nd...i'm not sure how that works) cousin is obsessed and everytime she's staying over she flips to any channel that features him. I may have to start hiding the remote...

Oh god tell me about it! my neice is obsessed with him! she's not allowed on the internet on her own (naturally) so that means I get stuck for hours on end looking a the 'gorgeous' efron on the high school musical site:(

No! Nooo! Not High School Musical! That film is very much unbearable. Actually that doesn't cover it. Unbearable falls short. And I totally feel for you on the 'having to image surf Zac Efron'. Damn his young fan base, forcing us older non-fans to go through it too!

I still haven't seen it! Thank God! somehow I have managed to remain unaffected! Although I'm fairly sure she will spring it on me during one of our little ritual sleep overs just to watch me squirm! I didn't realise 8 year olds could be so sadistic!

I think I lied in my last post! I saw a HSM pep rally in MGM studies in Disney world this summer while I was working there...does that count?

If you felt you brain dribble out of your eyes, then yes, it counts. haha

Saw the trailer for this yesterday when I took my 6-year-old to see HSM 3 and it looks hilarious! I think it will be really funny and can't wait to see it. It kind of looks like a cross between "Big" and the remake of "Freaky Friday". :D
