What's For Dinner, Angel?

XxSlayerxX's thread "Are You Now, Or Have You Ever Been?" got me to wondering. There's a scene where Angel comes into his room with several packages of blood, which he then places in an ice bucket. My question is: What was his source of nourishment at that time? Whistler hadn't told him yet about buying animal blood from butchers, yet, so his then current supply must have been human. Where did it come from?

Or maybe he got it off the black market and it is humans blood. Or from another vampire? I don't know, guessing.

Just cuz Angel wasn't getting his blood from the butcher's when Whistler found him doesn't mean he didn't know about. I think he chose to just eat rats out of guilt after the diner incident. If he wasn't getting if fro butchers, then probably from some 50's version of Willies.

Yeah, it occurred to me once that there might be some enterprising vamps out there who "harvested" blood from either willing or unwilling humans and sold it to others of their kind who either couldn't or wouldn't hunt for themselves. Whadda you think a couple of pints of O Neg would go for on the streets?

Hey! Nobody pays me to give blood, and I do it every 3 months! (I'm O Neg; I feel morally obligated to donate.)

When I was in the Navy in San Diego, when money got short between paydays, some of my friends would go to the local blood bank and sell a pint. I believe the going rate was $10 a pint unless you had a rare type (like AB Neg), and that was a little more. That was before the concerns about AIDS and Hepatitis, though. I don't know if it still goes on or not.

Angel seemed to know about about 'delivery day' or whatever in The Dark Age so maybe it's possible he fed on stolen blood. I got the impression that his feeding on rats was like an act of pennence or maybe it was indeed stolen human blood he was feeding on before the ally days.
