I thought we could maybe open up a thread to discuss First Night. I'm not sure what it is yet. I've read Brian Lynch refer to it as a mini-series within a series. So, from what I gather the first five issues of AAtF are gonna be called Chapters 1 through 5, and then we get First Night 1, First Night 2, and then maybe we continue with the regular chapters. Sort of like an interlude? Originally, it was supposed to be a one-shot, but I think it's already been extended to two issues at the least.
A tiny bit of news (at least to me it was) about this mini-series.
Got a page from FIRST NIGHT. Holy crap, was it beautiful. It featured a kick-ass hero reveal of...
...oh, you'll see. Lots of stuff up our sleeves!
And then someone asked: "Is Urru drawing First Night as well? I heard somewhere it would be multiple artists, not sure though."
Multiple artists. It looks gooooood so far.
Seems to me like First Night is gonna be this series' The Chain. I wonder who the artists'll be.

I agree the Chain was fabulous. Confusing at the beginning but I read it the second time and I loved it.
But the whole first night thing sounds good.

...a page from Wesley's "First Night" tale in an upcoming issue of ANGEL: AFTER THE FALL. Art is by Nick Runge and colors by John Rauch.
They gotta get this Nick Runge working on the main After the Fall story. Damn good stuff.

Looks good, although I know it's nit picky but when the put them in the outfits they wore for promo pictures it sort of takes me out of the story. I love his style, while Urru is good, with this guy I can see details.

Chris Ryall (the editor) posted two new pages on his weblog. One is the page from the Lorne story by John Byrne, but this time it's coloured. The other is a page for Spike, art by David Messina and colours by Ilaria Traversi (who did the colours on issue 1). Chris also confirmed that by now First Night is going to run for three(!!!) issues. He's suggested this before. There'll probably be two issues of After the Fall out in the month that they release the third part of First Night. After it concludes the next issue of the regular story will probably be out two weeks later.

That Lorne page is funny. Angel with his "NEAT PLANS", heh.
And I've always thought that David Messina was one of the better artists they've used for the Angel books. Like those hard, sharp lines. And he does pretty good likenesses.

Can't say I like him too much. If only he didn't give women such weird eyes, I'd say Franco was the greatest.... after Georges obviously. But this Nick-something who does the art for the Wesley story is pretty spectacular too. And John Byrne's work on Star Trek is amazing, better than what he did with Lorne.

Yeah, the John Bryne page, not his best stuff really.
Just going back a few pages, through Ryall's blog...some amazing, varied art styles there. I'd love to see IDW break out of the box a little bit with Angel...That guy that does the Zombies and Robots stuff for example...so cool. I'd love to see him do a cover.

The people who did the covers for Ghost Whisperer should work on After the Fall... they have a very Jo Chen-vibe about their style. Almost photo-realistic likeness.

So when is this "First Night" supposed to start up? I can't seem to be able to find a definitive release date online.
