View Full Version : Jasmine - How much was truth?

We're all aware of the whole Jasmine situation but my question is, how much of what she was saying was truth? Was Cordy really going to wake up from the coma once they'd achieved world peace? Also why did it take the darkest magic (sacrificing a virgin) to bring Jasmine into this world being a supreme being of good?
Edit:
Also I cannot picture Jasmine, lover of all human beings, calling Lilah a "stupid b***h" after she stabs her in the neck. Jasmine was as evil as she could be in Cordy's body but why?

That's a great question. Because of who she really was I want to believe none of it was true. But I guess we have to all take in to account our own feelings on the situation. I believe Cordy could have woken up...Jas would have reigned over the world by then, so it's possible. But it's also possible that no, why would she need cordy right? I will let some of the more insightful members answer these questions.

Based on what I've seen, I see Jasmine is a liar. And I don't believe Cordy was going to wake up ever. I can already hear Jasmine saying : What for? If she allows Cordy to wake up, the adoring population's adoration might be split in two. After all, Cordy is Jasmine's "mother." Jasmine is also a jealous cow. I don't see her sharing the limelight with anyone.
Jasmine was a supreme being but she was only posing as a good one. We've seen how she had to deceive Cordy and murder so many just to be able to exist here and maintain that existence. She was evil, hence the virgin sacrifice. Didn't Darla say something like, how can something good come from an evil deed. Something like that.
And I never bought the utopia nonsense. Jasmine was just a supreme con woman. She just wants a dimension to rule. Preferably a high tech one with well fed people to eat.:lmao:
And that's just my biased contribution because I really hate Jasmine.
How much of what Jasmine was sayng was true? Hard to say. As it's been said Jasmine has lied and manipulated. Was Cordy going to wake up? Again we don't know but I doubt it. Jasmine wouldn't need to keep her promise (although, she did only say she might wake up) because ultimately, no one would have had any feelings that would conflict with hers. So essentially if Cordy wasn't immune to the Jasmania then she'd fall in line too if she woke up.
The spell I think was supposed to cause something that wasn't essentially supposed to happen naturally, so there has to be a price (think bringing Buffy back).
As for the stupid b**** line? I can imagine it. I think Jasmine had a gloaty, egotistical side.

Jasmine may have been manipulative, but I don't think she was necessarily a liar. I think she genuinely believed that she was doing humanity a favour. She was a good guy, but she was a little bit on the evil side of good.
The people she ate, the virgin sacrificed... those are small prices for world peace. How many people die every day from war, crime, murder, etc a lot more than Jasmine ate, so all-in-all it was an improvement.
As for killing Lilah... well she was a W&H employee, not quite innocence-reborn. I think that when Jasmine was inside Cordelia's body, she was influencing Cordelia to do things. She didn't kill Lilah, but she made Cordy do it. I think the gloating is just something Cordelia did herself. Not because she was inheritly evil, but because Jasmine made her think she was.

Hmmmmm...i dont think Cordy would of woke up. Think about it. When we saw Cordy in season 5, she was well aware of everything that had happened. When she would of awoke she would of none that JAsmin was a fake and would of tried to put a stop to her.
Now.....Jasmine...i think she was lying but with little bits of the truth twisted in as well.

How can anything good and pure come out of slaughtering a young girl? Jasmine used dark magic to come into the world the kind that turned Willow evil. I mean Jasmine (in Cordy's body) was willing to kill Willow, who was going to activate hundreds of slayers, thus making an army to achieve world peace and all because she was going to resoul Angel? I don't care about Jasmine's small prices, its not something a pure, good powerful being should do. I'd just like to ask as a side not, when Cordy ascended to a higher plane did she actually become a Power That Be? If she was that powerful how come she couldn't see what Jasmine was doing to her?

I think Jasmine's acting was believable right up until Fred saw her differently... Meaning the way she'd stare at Fred, plus the whole maggots coming out of her face thing lol but no including that, there was something different about the way Jasmine acted, and the looks she gave... I think just the one little Fred incident, she knew it was possible she could be defeated.

She was creeepy as hell! She kept doing that thing to see her through other people and her voice coming out of them. But hey, even if Angel wouldnt have done anything, Buffy would of noticed braodcasts of I LOVE JAsmine and she would of went there to get her!

When I think of this I think of when Jasmine told Angel that he had ended world peace. When I think of that I know that Jasmine was an evil being. Cause let's face it there is no such thing as 'world peace'. World peace can never be achieved. I'm gonna think back on the episode 'Reprise part 1' because there is something that dead Holland Manners says when they reach the 'home office'. Holland says something like evil doesn't work in spite of the world it works with it. See in the world there must be a balance between good and evil, one can never outweigh the other.

That's something that's bothered me about S4. She did say something almost exactly like that, and for the situation it made sense and was absolutely true (as far as such things can be told when stopping world peace w/ 36 or so deaths a day, or a terrible world of God only knows), especially as things pertained to Connor, but something that Angel as a series continually told us, in numerous ways, is that good acts don't always bring about good concequences, just as evil acts don't necessarily yield evil results.
