Something Giles said in (I think) this issue was a reference to the fact that he is no longer in the Watchers Council's good graces or some such kind of confused me. Didn't Issue 1 either state or infer that he was now the head of the Council, and was responsible for the funding of Buffy's not so small army of Slayers, not to mention the no doubt medium sized fortune required to run and maintain Slayer Central in Scotland, not to mention Xander's pseudo-Nick Fury Wannabe wardrobe?

If the G Man ain't holding the purse strings, how does the army operate?

Willow made reference to some 'annonymous' donations to the Slayer fund so it wasn't all council money one would presume.

Maybe Riley and his particular branch of the government and supplying limited funding and equipment.

I'm not sure if Twilight is even "official" or just a splinter group of the military.

It's just a holdover from my youth when I always wondered how all those superheroes could afford all that cool equipment. Sure, Bruce Wayne and Oliver (last name forgotten, but Green Arrow, anyhow) were millionaires, but ALL those other guys couldn't have unlimited funds. The castle and equipment used by the Slayers must run in the neighborhood of multi-millions of dollars just to set up, let along operate for any length of time.

i totally thought it was riley's section of the government who were the donors too... or even just him... lord knows he could be making a ton of money right now, we don't know exactly what his position is anymore.

Does it make sense though for one half of the government to fund Slayer Inc. and the other half to have them as their Most Wanted?

Like I was speculating earlier, the branch of the military after the Slayers might not even be sanctioned by the government or might be run by another shadow branch that does not want everyone to know what they're up to. Salvaging a lot of the abandoned Initiative technology would give them a head start.

Probably under the influence of or coerced by "Twilight" to do whatever he wants.

Maybe Twilight (as an organization) itself is funding the Slayers. It'd make sense -- they'd have total control over them if they did that. They'd have surveillance and ways to bypass security if they were giving the Slayers tech they were educated about.

What if the people Buffy saved are giving her money. Or the fact that the slayers could have looted Sunnydale. Or another rich Slayer wanting to help her "sisters"

I'd like to think money comes in from various different sources. They might not all might contribute an equal amount. Also, weren't Kennedy's parents supposed to be loaded?

There's another part of this financing issue I'm curious about. There seems to be a rift between Buffy and Giles yet both Watchers and Slayers seem to be well financed. Is the same source feeding both bodies? If so how is it administrated? If it goes through Buffy or Giles the one side would have to communicate with the other. Is that the way they do it, or is there a separate administration body set up somewhere?
