There's also this...

To further ensure the delight of Joss fans all the world over, we've got the return of Serenity to the comics stands. A new three-issue series, Better Days, launches this winter, reuniting Joss with his team from the first Serenity series--as of this writing, Will Conrad is finishing up the second issue, and Joss and Brett Matthews just finished the final script. We're also releasing a pair of Serenity lunch boxes, one featuring the cast and the ship, and the other featuring a reference only the most devout Serenity fans will get--Fruity Oaty Bars. But the latest news--we'll be following up Better Days with the first flashback Serenity comic-book series, A Shepherd's Tale, revealing the origins of the mysterious character Book, played by Ron Glass in the series and film. We hope to get the first issue out by the end of 2008--I'll be happy not to wait another three years between Serenity projects.

i am so turning back into a comic book geek! lol

this is great news. can't wait for this. i like the first cover, very cool. the little synopsis sounds like it could be a good tale. really looking forward to it.

but the Book thing? WOW! cannot wait for that! we've waited YEARS to find out what the deal with the Shepard is. going be good to finally have the answers...i just hope those answers live up to the hype, unlike Angel: After the Fall.

Woo! I just got into Firefly/Serenity and now I can have an inbetweener!

*sighs*

Why can't they just release the TPB? It'd be easier, no?

While I'm happy for those crazed-out browncoats on this boards, I think I'll pass on this one. I'm not the hugest fan and if this is anything like "Those Left Behind" it's gonna end up disappointing me.

I just got into Firefly and Serenity recently so I'll probably be picking this lot up with the Buffy comics.

Better Days sounds good and I know my Mum will want A Sheppard's Tale if I don't heh.

1 page not enough. :) I really enjoy the pencils in this comic though, very accurate and nice to look at. All I got from that is that they were looking for expensive art to make money from.. I'm still wondering if they sold that priceless gun from Trash.

Here's the latest.

SERENITY: BETTER DAYS (Dark Horse)

The three-issue sequel to Those Left Behind touches down in February, once again written by Whedon and Brett Matthews with art by Will Conrad and multiple covers by Adam Hughes. Set between “Firefly” and the “Serenity” movie, this adventure finds Mal and his ragtag crew struggling with success after a very lucrative job. “Tensions arise and no one knows what to do,” explains Allie. “It screws up the whole picture. Even when they win, it sucks for them.”

Is it set before or after "Those Left Behind"" because I thought that filled the gap beteen the show and movie pretty well.

Written by Joss Whedon and Brett Matthews, art by Will Conrad, colored by Michaelle Madsen, cover by Adam Hughes.

Better Days concludes with a brutal showdown when one of Serenity's crew is taken captive and tortured. The gang must put their enduring differences aside and work together to save one of their own, even if it may mean losing the cash prize of a lifetime.

Woah! That's awesome, but it isn't leaving me with that scifi feel that the show had. This comic looks awesome though. I'll be getting it! Thanks for posting this

So excited to get this series! And I cannot wait for A Sheppard's Tale to come out because the whole Book thing always bugged me because we never knew! Yay! So exciting, but I still wish it was a movie/show I miss the actors and some of them haven't been in anything lately like Zoe and Simon what happened to them? Anyway can't wait to read.

Do we discuss this here? I got this today and really enjoyed it. I love love love reading new firefly stories!
I was a bit confused around the action bit.. but eventually worked out that the thingy following them was remote controlled, so I guess that's how Kaylee was able to get it.
Favourite bit was Inhara imagining Mal and her 'precious Buddha' comment. It's easy to fall back into these characters.

Just thought I would post the big picture of all three covers just cause I thought it looked pretty neat all together.

Finally got around to reading issue 1. I liked it. Liked it a lot. It felt like I was reading a “lost episode” of the series. And that’s good.
I figure that this is set sometime between “Objects in space” and “Those Left Behind” since Shepard Book is still part of the crew. It’s nice to get to know a little bit of what happened between the series and the movie.
I almost cried reading Wash’s scene, I almost wanted to jump into the book and warn him.

I don't like Kaylee and River from the cover art. They look like children.

The comic itself was good, I liked it a lot. I thought the art was amazing, especially Zoe. Can't wait for the next issue.

got issue two yesterday. im about 2/3 of the way through it. all of the characters lines match up with them really well.

im not trying to spoil anything for anyone, but so far, i dont feel much is happening. this is worrisome because there is only one more comic :s
if there were 12 more, then i would think "hey, this is all setup and the s$%% will hit the fan shortly", but alas, only one more comic :(
