Hope I'm not overstepping, I didn't see any other discussions at the moment ^_^

Ground State: In this episode, Wesley, now a hardened demon-hunter/killer with his own gang, informs Angel that the Axis talisman will aid him in his search for Cordelia.
Meanwhile, Gwen Raiden, a young mercenary with uncontrollable electrokinesis powers, is also looking for the talisman at the request of her employer, a wealthy businessman with connections to Wolfram & Hart.

What did you think about this episode, and the introduction of Gwen?

I personally loved this episode for numerous reasons, the main being Gwen. I thought she was introduced really well and we got to see her personality and attitude right from the beginning and then we slowly learn more about her. I grew to like her alot!! She brought alot of good moments between both Angel and in later eps Gunn. Definitely wish we could have seen more of her. This episode overall I think hit the mark and set what was to come for this season. I here it's iffy on those who loved it and those who hated it. I'm part of the group that loved this season. Gwen, Faith, Angelus, etc. all great. Anyways This ep in particular was hilarious!! ANGEL: Who are you? GWEN: Who are you? ANGEL: I asked you first. GWEN: What are you, seven? ANGEL: Tell me you're not here for the Axis. GWEN: I'm not here for the Axis. ANGEL: You're lying. GWEN: I'm fibbing. It's lying, only classier. haha! That alone would make me love the episode : king :

I really liked the episode for not only introducing Gwen (#1, Alexa Davalos = I'll be back in 10 minutes, #2, great character), but for expanding the Angel universe to powers that arn't magick and monster based. It was a real shame she wasn't used in S5 at all, especially after her old horror flickish styled intro of her as a child at the school. Nothing but potential.

Also, great dialogue in this episode.

Gwen was great! I liked her intro as well, and the thing where she toasts the creep's watch is hilarious.. She had so much attitude, and she sorta reminded me of Faith.. Would have been hilarious 2 see her and the real Cordelia in a bitchfit with one another.. Personally, i think that her absence in S5 was such a waste of potential, her and Spike would've got along well.

I just watched this episode yesterday. I really do like Gwen. She's an interesting character, and I wished we could've seen way more than we did in Season four.

Here's the part I don't understand though. After Gwen electrocutes Angel and starts his heart, why does he kiss her? I mean, he's all gung-ho about finding the axis so that he can locate Cordy, who he has claimed for many episodes that he loves her, so why the smooch with Gwen?

I thought he kissed her because he could all of a sudden feel his heart. Which he couldn't ever since he turned into a vampire. So he just sprung at the first person he saw/and/or/ was thanking her? lol
