One of my very favourite Buffy eps. From the first scene to the last it is completely enthralling. I love Buffy and Angel's scenes in his appartment, there is a deep intimacy about them that I just adore.
A very memorable episode and our first true glimpse of Angelus, one of the best villains of the show, and some of the best lines of the series.
That scene with Buffy was unsettling, just not knowing what he was going to do, afraid he'd hurt her and he does, only not the way we thought.
And having Angelus and Spike partner up is so much fun to watch.

..Uh Kem hate to break it to ya but that's 'Innocence' not 'Surprise'.
I always get these episodes mixed up. I rarely watch Season 2 in order lol.

This was the best Buffy two-parter episode ever! I had watched the show before, but this one got me totally hooked!
I love Willow's line "What's his number? 1-800-I'm-dating-a-skanky-ho" Classic.

I think this episode was okay. I loved the part where that bully pushes Buffy down and Cordelia starts punching him. Oh wait, that's Helpless. :p
Seriously though, this is one of my least favorite episodes. It was good but it moved along too slow for me. The biggest bit of action was at The Bronze right before the surprise party. The Bangel parts were also kind of annoying. I'm not a Bangel hater but all the crying through the episode was getting on my nerves. First at the dock, then we had the dreams, then at the end before they sleep together. I was like "Oh my God!" It was a little too angsty for me. That's actually the only reason I don't like Bangel, because of all the weeping. My favorite part of the episode is when everybody is waiting to surprise Buffy at The Bronze and when they break the news to Oz about vampires.

I just rewatched it a few minutes ago. I cannot stand the whole lip smacking through the entire episode. Buffy and Angel had the loudest freakin kisses in the whole universe, it's so annoying.
I always liked the Oz interaction. "Hey did anybody see that guy just turn to dust?" I mean, that's great!

i loved them kissing. i think it was really important for the storyline that they had so much of it. for one: it lead up to them actually having sex. they always came so close but never close enough. i think in the end it was just a matter of time. otherwise it would have been a bit random if they just went to bed. and two: it showed the love between them (especially coming from angel) one last time before we wouldnt see him 'nice' like that until the season finale.
the fact that u found them too loud...well thats a different story ;)
lol i love oz in that episode as well. well, i love him in all episodes but he was awesome there.
Willow: I know it's hard to accept at first.
Oz: Actually, it explains a *lot*.
cant wait for the 'Innocence discussion. its one of the most brilliant episodes ever written

after buffy dreams about dru she tells Angel that she (dru) might be alive and he says not to worry (or something like that) and then she says: ...We never saw her body. Well, duh, if she was dead, there would be no body. :/ Right?

This is one of my fave episodes of Season 2.I love Spike and Dru especially when the judge burns the vampire and Dru says "do it again" and stamps her foot.It was really funny and I also like it when she dances..actually that whole party sequence! I also loved when Cordelia just randomly shouts "Suprise!" when Buffy has already come in.
