I'm probably going to get lynched, drawn and quartered, burned at the stake, and innundated with harsh language for this, but am I the only one who feels that Sarah's movie career since leaving "Buffy" has been less than stellar? "The Grudge" was little more than the run of the mill force-of-evil flick with the same generic plot available in dozens of similar movies, whose main viewers were loyal Buffy fans. Since then, the list hasn't gotten much better. "The Return" was pretty good, but nothing to stand up and cheer about, and I haven't heard very much positive about "Southland Tales." There was a thread here awhile back about Sarah possibly returning to tv, and I think that might be a wise move on her part if she can find a proper vehicle, but Buffy seems to be what people see when they look at her, blonde hair or brown. Maybe she should just accept the fact that she's typecast and try to find another action female part.

Okay, rip me up. Whadda you think?

I agree that her roles since leaving Buffy have been disappionting. Really nothing she has done since it ended has been note worthy in my opinion. I don't think she has been type cast but I do think she has yet to find a role that has been up to the standards or really anywhere close to the standards of the role she had on the show. But like I said on another forum awhile back, as far as female characters go, how do you top Buffy?

I haven't actually seen much of her work since she left Buffy/ Buffy ended. So I guess if I haven't even seen these movies and no one has told me to watch them, that they can't be 'amazing' I'd love to see her come back to t.v though, but then again I might not because I loved Buffy, and would want to see Buffy again, not some other character ^_^ But that's just me, I think good t.v. should last forever!!!!!

The only thing i have seen myself after buffy was The Grudge. It was decent, but im a horror buff, and it was nowhere near the scares i was hoping for. She was ok in it, nothing spectacular. As for other things yes ive heard "eh" kind of reviews on them. This is part of the reason why my boyfriend refuses to watch an episode of buffy, because he thinks shes a bad actress based on her movies, which is a shame because she was far better in Buffy than she has been in recent roles.

If she does return to T.V, i know ill watch whatever show it may be. But no, no lynching here!

I believe that she has run into the wall that Christina Applegate ran into (b4 broadway and Samantha Who). Like you said, type cast. Honestly, it was hard for me to watch the Grudge and not see her kick evil's ass. Granted, she got slashed in IKWYDLS, but that was different in the sense that I hadn't been watching her as Buffy for 7 or so years.

To be honest, her acting isn't really the most versatile in the world. *waits for backlash*. Don't get me wrong, I've watched her since she was the vengeful spawn of Erica Kane on All My Children and I LOVED her. She just doesn't really capture somethings quite right. For example, I watched Cruel Intentions for the first time in ages the other day. When she delivered her dialouge, it was JUST like Buffy, except with a few more F-bombs and explicit adult situations. It was honestly hard for me to believe her as a slutty b*#ch.

I don't think the movies she's been doing are really her niche (tho I really did like the Return). I think if she finds it, she'll do ok. It's just that maybe, her niche is in TV and not film. Or hey, what about Broadway?

It's sad but true that for every Clint Eastwood, there are dozens of David Caruso's, actors that have a huge following on the small screen, who try to break into movies for the big salaries, diverse roles, and just plain greater glory it involves, only to realise, if they're lucky, that tv popularity doesn't necessary transfer over to movies. The smart ones either start new careers (like Leonard Nimoy as a director), or return to small screen roles, most often quite similar to what made them popular in the first place.

I really, honestly hope Sarah finds the success she's looking for in the movies, but if it just isn't there, I hope she has the wisdom to come back to the fans that love her (A series based on the Black Canary would be great if you're reading this, Sarah. You would look GREAT in that little black outfit!)

I'm awaiting her performance in "The Air I Breathe". I'm hopeful that this movie will be a good one for her.

This movie comes out January 25, so go see it!

Hadn't heard about it til you posted that :p

imdb says:
"A drama based on an ancient Chinese proverb that breaks life down into four emotional cornerstones: happiness, pleasure, sorrow and love. A businessman (Whitaker) bets his life on a horse race; a gangster (Fraser) sees the future; a pop star (Gellar) falls prey to a crime boss (Garcia); a doctor (Bacon) must save the love of his life."

Sounds cool, I will go see it :D

They haven't been blockbusters, but I'm not sure she isn't choosing smaller roles by design, preferring a quieter life. Who knows, though? Maybe the next big one is just around the corner. I mean, look at John Revolta (;)), Johnny Depp, Sean Penn - they all had breaks in the middle of their careers where it wasn't Oscar winning stuff. She's probably got to prove that she's more than Buffy to a lot of people.
