Why was Amber never included in the opening sequence?

Seems a shame as she is a true member of the scoobies and a pivotal character throughout most of season 5 and all of season 6.

She was just as important as Anya, so why did she lose out? Was it because of the length of the title sequence? They could have just lengthened the title sequence or even shortened the rest of the clips so they could squeeze her in.

She was included in the episode Seeing Red so it wasn't a length issue.

Maybe they didn't think she was as important as Anya. :) But Tara was in there alot! They just didn't name her, they showed several scenes of her through the title sequence though.

And how about being included in the opening sequence and getting your character killed in this very episode ('Seeing Red').
That's rather unfair to Tara.
Maybe it has to do with some Whedon's Masterplan...

Another point - Oz was included in the title sequence for season 3 and 4 so why not Tara? She was a more important love interest to Willow than Oz.

No, she wasn't. Atleast you get to see her in the title sequence ^_^

I know, Oz got to be there when she was a tad more important. Same with Riley. He was only in season 4 and some of season 5? She was on longer...why should he get to be in the credits right away? :p

But Tara much more important than Oz so I don't get it -ish confused-

I think it was a contract thing wasn't it..? As she was never cast as a regular character..

Dunno though, may just be cause they didn't think she was important enough!

I think that may have something to do with it. Also I think I heard in an interview somewhere that Joss said something about always wanting to add a character to the credits on their last episode

Oh, I've came across that too. But I didn't get the point - Why?
What's the fun? For brutality's sake? Some twisted joke?

Or as a big favor instead?

Dunno...

Maybe everyone just liked Oz more.

Tara was a recurring character, was she not? Not a regular cast member.

Also I don't believe she was a bit more important than Oz was. So Willow had a lesbian relationship with her. Big deal.

And like I've said before, I don't even consider Tara to be a true Scooby, she never fit in with them, and anyone except Willow hardly ever talked to her, or knew her, and when she was there she just sat silently and awkwardly. Not saying I had anything against her but her character just didn't mesh very well with the others. (Except maybe when she was let in on Buffy's Spike secret in s6.)

It's nothing to do with her being a lesbian.

She forced her into rehab after Willow started using too much magic. She was a pivotal part in the events of season 6 and by then had formed a good relationship with the rest of the scoobies. This was proved in the s5 episode 'Family'.

OK - It was Ambers choice to not be a main character.

She liked the freedom of recurring so she could go off and do other things.
This has nothing to do with being fair.

The Seeing Red was more a thank you to such a wonderful character and actress, someone the fanbase seemed to like.

You want proof of this do a search of this very site and you'll find it stated with links numerous times.

wrong wrong wrong wrong.

I would give you negative Karma but you've been through enough recently:)

YOU may not consider her to be a true scooby but she definitely was.
Season 4 she was Willows new Girlfriend.
Season 5 she was awkward with the group UNTIL Family where she was inducted into the fold. She then quickly became a confidante to Buffy by being able to understand her loss, she became important to Dawn when Buffy died and Xander and Anya included her in the private meetings when the Buffster was gone.
Season 6 she was again taken into Buffy's confidence, she became a mother figure to Dawn and the thing to keep Willow going in the end.

She fought along side the group when it counted and thats as much as anyone can do to be a Scooby.

im not sure if this is right, but im pretty sure that at some point or another, someone (maybe joss?) also mentioned that though they put oz in the opening because he was an important character, they were often at a loss to find things for him to do in episodes where he wasnt pivotal to the plot, especially since he didnt say much. they sometimes had to give him bit parts just to fit him in the episode. in the end, he went off to make movies anyway, and like BOTD said, since amber wanted to be recurring, maybe they felt they ran the same risk of losing her? and again with the speculation, but maybe there was also an aspect of that they didnt want to have to force tara into episodes where she had no real purpose like they did with oz?
