This MIGHT be a spoiler I'm not sure...
...just isn't the same. The series was totally missing one thing that it really needed and I just missed her so much in season five. "You're Welcome..." :bluesad:
How did you guys feel about it? I love Charisma and its just kinda depressing to me to see the season five dvd without Cordy next to Angel...

It wasnt really depressing so to speak. BUt I missed her wittyness. I LOVE Cordelia. My favorite character in the whole Buffy verse. I wanted her and Angel to be together but things happen. I think alot of things could have gone better if Cordy was there with her guidance and the visions. I felt that she could have atleast been able to do more before dying. Like have a two part thing going on. That would of been awesome. First part fighting Lindsay, second part a;ll mushy and romatic. Cangel foever!!!!

It was a little disappointing especially after the complete change during season 4 (I know she was possessed by a demon but still). I think one-shot return was good and the nice little twist at the end served her well. It's like she came back and got to say good-bye the right way.

I missed her, but what role would she have had at Wolfram and Hart? They weren't going out every night to save the day one vision at a time, they were running a law firm. Would she have fit? Maybe took over Harmony's job :p ?

I missed Cordy too, but her absence was very important to the story - i mean, they wouldn't have even gone to Wolfram and Hart had Cordelia been with them - She made it very clear in You're Welcome that she didn't think it was right for Angel to be there so, in my opinion, i don't think she would have let them take over the place! Also i've always felt that her (and Connor's) absence was the thing that underpinned so much of what Angel went through in season five.

I loved you're welcome very much. It is one of my favorite episodes of Angel ever. Having Cordy back was so nice and she also looked great! I think we missed out on a lot not having her.

An Angel season without Cordy just isn't the same. Okay, I might be predisposed cause she is my favourite character, but still, Cordelia was important to the show.
And I don't know what was goung on with the writers anyway towards the end of Angel. I mean, were they trying to kill off ALL interesting female characters? First Lilah in S4, then Cordy and shortly afterwards Fred.

I didn't realize how much I missed her until "You're Welcome" which was one of my favorite episodes. It was so bitter sweet. I know I was surprised that I hadn't noticed how sad, lonely and lost Angel was without her before that moment. I suppose Angel didn't realize it either. I mostly liked season 5 but something was missing.

Absolutely. I believe S5 was perfect without them, for that very reason, to show what happens when Angel is alone. And not alone because there isn't anybody, but alone because his life turned to piss and vinegar. Starting with S3, at the begining everything was looking sky high for Angel Inc., and it ended up horribly for everyone. Getting pulled up from the bottom of the ocean, Cordelia back with no memories, The Beast, Connor having sex with Cor, LA turned to night, being forced to allow Angelus control, ending world peace, then having to stop his, as Marcus Hamilton said, I think, "rageing, psychotic son" from killing himself and the person in the world he's closest to in exchange for getting a job working for his worst enemy... then everything that happens in S5- it all boiled down to a lack of Cordelia, and though it may have seemed weird without her around, it really showed how devestatingly important she is, and always was.
As I argued in the S6 forum, though, I don't believe that Cordelia is gone, by any means and everything that's happening is still further proof of how epic she is, and will continue to be. Also Connor, that dweeb.

look to be ho0nest i never really like cordie, wither on Buffy or Angel, i just could never really get into her charatcer. So i was kinda happy once she left the show, all though the episode with her in it was really good and well done. it also had one of my fave quotes in it out of the entire season.
Cordie - "i thought u said he was a champion"
Spike - "You called me a champion"

I like Cordelia but i never really missed her in season 5, as others have said she wouldn't have fit in at wolfram and hart and with the addition of spike the comedy element role was filled, though it would have been great to see those two working together i can imagine the conversations they would have had :lmao: you're welcome was a brilliant episode, i didn't expect her to die at the end. Though it was annoying that they killed Fred so soon after Cordelia and it was sad for Wesley, he'd only been with her for like 5 minutes before she dies, it really made me hate knoxx though illyria was cool afterwards, i liked her even more in the final episode when she's saying that she thinks she's grieving for Wesley and wants to hurt something

i think your wrong about cordy not really fitting in even though its my opinion. But i think that lorne nor gunn fit in to be honest until the latter got that brain upgrade. everyone seems to be stuck on the "you're welcome episode in which cordy clearly states how she didn't think taking over the law firm was the right thing. But if cordy was brought back before then angel could have courted her into using what they had at their disposal(wolfram and hart) by bringing down the beast from within. And with cordy's visions tptb could have possibility prevented or warned AI of knox betrayal and illyria's ressurection also seeing as cordy was half demon her powers became more stronger she could have seen a way to not only bring down the black thorn but seriously hurt the SP or at least challenge them face to face. and on the comedic note i think the final season would have been hilarious with both spike and cordy becasue of course spike would insult angel then angel would insult him until cordy broke it up by calling them both "pig drinkers" lol. also there would have been cordy and spike going back and forth at one antoher. which could have been comedic gold.

by not fitting in i didn't mean in the team i mean within W&H itself, Angel aside she would have been the most uncomfortable and outspoken about being there. i just cant see her accepting the place as well as the others did, though she would have been useful to the gang most importantly in helping to stop Illyria and knox (man i hate that guy, wish Wes hadn't killed him so quickly). i can see how she could have been used in season 5, as you said Spike, Angel and Cordy would have been cool

To tell the truth i never liked Cordy i could never really get into her character, i hated her when she was on buffy i have no idea why they brought her into Angel, but yeah all you can do is complian.
What i really hated was when they made Cordy and Angel become in love , i mean What The Hell.

You know I think people would have been more open to having cordy in season 5 if we hadn't already seen it. And this is what I mean if we could go back and joss had opened a poll on whether to bring cordy or spike into season 5 I think more people would have chose cordy. Also when she came back she didn't necessary have to come back with the visions or demonic powers I mean just look at her in Your'e Welcome she proved she could hold her own in battle.

I loved Cordelia. She was my favorite Angel character. You're Welcome was probably my favorite episode overall... it was just so sad. And I'm not even a fan of the Cordy/Angel relationship. I just really really hated Cordy/Connor, haha. But I did think that season five wasn't the same without her. She brought a certain element to the show, and without her there, it felt emptier. Though, it had Spike, and his interaction with Angel in the season is fantastic.

After Cordelia left the cast, the gang lost its "heart". She provided a nurturing, quasi-maternal feel throughout the series and her absence only accentuated the sense of disparity and isolation from one another that each of the characters experienced in the final season. Somehow, without Cordelia, the gang lost their cohesiveness. This was one of the things that really turned me off Season 5 when I first saw it. Thankfully, I came to appreciate the change in tone and direction much better on second viewing.

I agree that season 5 suffered without Cordelia.
The season had some excellent episodes, but overall I think it could have been even better if Cordelia had still been part of the show. I personally reject Joss Whedon's claims that there was nothing left to do with her character anymore, a guy with an imagination like his could have come up with plenty of things. What about having Cordelia turn away from Angel, unable to work for Wolfram and Hart? Or if Spike was still to come onto the show, have Cordelia reluctantly begin working with him and giving her visions meant for Angel to Spike instead because she felt Angel lost his way? Of course there's just some rough ideas, but I'm sure he could think of better ones.
Spike and Angel had some great moments, but I would have easily scrapped Spike, who's ending I was happy with in 'Chosen' to have more Cordelia in season 5. She was the heart of Ats, and it was pretty disrespectful to the fans and to the character the way she was pretty much never spoken about or remembered again by the characters. She'd been with them from the beginning and was close to all of them, and yet she doesn't get mourned whereas Fred's death has a major lasting impact on the characters for the rest of the series. I'd love to see how Joss explains that one.

I just saw "You're Welcome" and I LOVED it. The ending was great, and a perfect goodbye for Cordelia. I think I'll really miss her though:( she was my favorite character (next to angel of course)
Season 5 is probably my favorite season though. Of what I've seen anyway. the next episode I'm watching is "SmileTime" CAN'T WAIT!

I think they should have kept Cordy in season 5 she was one of my favourite characters on Angel, they needed her,but oh well what can you do?

A season without Cordy wasnīt as bad as I first thought. I guess you can see Harmony as replacement but itīs not why I donīt miss her. Spikeīs just so great Iīm way more happy that he came along than missing Cordy. And as they destroyed her character in season 4 ( I know the reason but it still bugged me big time) Iīd rather have a seaon without her than be reminded of that again.
Her comeback was great, and a Cordy like that youīll always miss. And itīs good closure. Now the last memory of her is a good one, or sad if you wanna see it that way. But as a whole I donīt care. Buffy season 7: It was the same with Tara. Her death made me completely miserably but even if I think season 7 would have benifited from her presence I really didnīt miss her as much that I thought I would. And I nearly love her as much as Willow so that was a surprise.

Hated The Cordelia/Connor Relationship, It Freaked Me Out!
Season 5 Was Not The Same Without Her!!

My whole thing about them cutting Cordy out of season 5 was all last season they pretty much destroyed the character and then in season 5 they had the perfect chance to make it up to the fans of Cordy and they blew it. Everyone in season 4(fang gang) pretty much got a fresh start why not give Cordy the same opportunity. She could have repaired the damage that had been done (thanks to jasmine) to her friendships. Made amends with Connor over the manipulations jasmine had done to him and if they still felt she didn't fit then they could have let her die you know in a heroic way. Instead she gets only one guest starring appearance then die. Im not bashing You're Welcome because its my favorite episode of the whole series because we finally get back the Cordy we know and love but its still sad and unfair to the character her body gets fully taken over, lifeforce drained, and then dies after one last appearance though it was one hell of an appearance.

I agree, Cordy and Angel are like brother and sister--it's like putting Buffy and Xander together. Just wrong.

I really missed Cordy in season 5. I think I kept wishing they'd bring her back at some point, but You're Welcome just wasn't enough for me. It was a great episode, it just made me really miss Cordy after that though.

I think season 5 was really great but it would be a lot better if Cordy was there. She was so important part of the show that it was just strange without her around. Although I wasn't big fan of her in "Buffy" I loved her in Angel. It was great how she became that wonderful woman caring about others, wise, able to notice things others didn't see and finally...a real hero.
I missed her a lot during season 5! It was real dissapointing not seeing her there because it can be said we didn't have her in season 4 too (it was Jasmine not her)
But I'm so glad that she came back in at least "You're welcome". It would have been horrible if she'd just died after all that happened. Good she had a chance to see friends one last time, make sure Wesley didn't blame her for Lilah's death and say goodbye.

season four ruined cordelia's character, maybe if they kept her in season five, they could restore it.
I liked how season five kind of started out, but maybe instead of dying in the end of "You're Welcome"
she could have stayed. The whole "there is nothing left for her character" is such bull!

Season 5 was actually my favorite season! I missed Cordy's presence at times, but her absence, in no way, took away from the season for me. Honestly, over the course of the series, she wasn't even in my top 5 favorite characters. That said, I thought "You're Welcome" did her justice, gave her a fitting end, and turned out to be one of my favorite episodes of the series.
