This is one of my absolute favourite Buffy novels. It's very Giles centric but also we see the return of Pike, Buffy's ex honey. I love the how the story is played out, especially the effect it has on her and Angel. A real good read.

Yeah, this has always been one of my favorites too. I wish the whole 'Giles' Father' thing had played out differently though. You know like it actually was his Father. That would have made the book a whole lot darker. hehe.
But yeah, I like the Pike returnyness. Plus, it's Pike from the original movie transcript and not the released movie, which is cool. And doesn't it mention Buffy and Pike's trip to Las Vegas? You know from the comic? I may just be imagining things here...hehe

No your spot on. Buffy goes through this whole guilt thing cuz of the scar she gave him above his eye. I agree about Giles's Father, if it had actually been him it would have knocked the book up several levels

Oh good, I'm not off-base then. Hehe.
And yeah, it would have made it so much...I can't think of any word but darker. And you're right; it would have raised the book a lot. To the level of the uber-novels. Plus it would have been on the same level of deep and darkness that the show was. The sudden 'oh it's not' slightly ruined it for me, but I still enjoyed the whole book.
Xander's debate over whether looking in the teacher's (who turned out to be the glamor thing...) was stalking or helping made me laugh. So very Xander.

I know what you mean, its sorta on the verge of greatness and then it fumbles. It dealt really well with all the gangs interactions though. Loved the Buffy/Giles stuff...especially towards the end

I loved the Pike/Buffy/Angelness throughout this whole book. As a bangel fan it was such a good read, getting to hear the stuff they were thinking.

And poor Xander getting caught by another teacher who happened not to be a teacher lol.

Its a very good read :)
