I thought this would be a good place to share all the terribly aweful things that have happened to our comics one time or another. If I am the only one...darn!

Last night while going through my comic box I put all my regular issues of Buffy, my TPB and my Angel comics on the bed. Was reading the TPB to the spouse, yes I had to do voices. Anyways, left my variants in the box beside me but on the floor. I had not noticed my cat Phoenix got in the box. My first issue variant, first printing of course, now has 4 cat claw holes in it. I had to spend 11 dollars to order another one today. I couldn't sleep all night, I was heartbroken. Luckily I found another first print of it.

Anyone else have horror stories?

"Dogs are from heaven, cats are from hell" I don't have to worry about my dog doing anything like that. He prefers the hall going to the bathroom. Have you ever woken up in the middle of the night, feel the urge of nature, get out of the bed and step into a little wake up call? Sometimes dogs are from hell to. I swear the last time it happened, I heard that dog LAUGHING!!!

My little sister's a freaking pain! Whenever she wants to see my comics she literally RIPS them out of my hand. And then as I was wrestling to get my Long Way Home #3 outta her hands she didn't only loosen the cover but she WRINKLED it. What's worse is that she did the same thing to LWH #4!!!

Let's just say I stopped letting her get her Buffy S8 fix!

Nothing BAD. But, my cat WAS stalking my Buffy stuff in general the other day.
I got out my disks to put them back in order after my sister gave them back to me. And the cat got VERY interested. He seemed to be trying to use them as sleds to slide off the bed on.
Then he went after my Shadow Puppets comic. First it was on the ottoman, so I moved it to the table. The table is next to the frog tank (or as we call it HDTV for Cats) and he climbed up there to "wave" at the frogs through the glass. So, I moved the book again to the 3rd shelf on the bookshelf. And for the FIRST TIME EVER, he climbed the first two shelves to "sniff around" and ended up RIGHT on top of the comic AGAIN.
So, I put it on the 6th shelf and I'll be darned if he wasn't on shelf 5 before I got back into the room.
He's NEVER climbed a shelf. In fact, other than getting on the one table to get to the frogs and occasionally my desk to see the snake...he doesn't hop on furniture! I'm not sure why he had it out for that book, but he was put in "Bathroom Time Out" for a while until he could cool it.

I bought myself a new hardback copy of Dracula, thick print with a blood red dust cover and deep inset black titling on the cover. What does Alexandra do? wants attention, leaps up and now it has 4 claw marks across the back.

Luckily only the dust cover got caught and its not so bad, kind of lends to the ominous look of the book now but still.

Cats were once worshiped as gods in ancient Egypt, and they seem to have never gotten over it.

What's the big deal? It's just a comic? =|

I personally like my things well taken care of. I wouldn't want anybody to mess any of my stuff up. Wether it's a comic, book, DVD, desk at work, or anything that's mine really. I can see why'd they'd be upset or irked about their comic books getting damaged.

Yeah but if it's still readable...

My comics come out of their drawer when I am alone and I don't have a cat. With just one copy of each issue though, a disaster could be disastrous. Mustn't hunch over my comics chewing packets of ketchup ever.

My little brother who was 3 at the time got into my comic box and tore the cover off an issue of Batman, while I was out, I got back in, went to put more comics in the box and my nan had put the issue back in the bag and board without the cover, thinking I wouldn't notice.

It was more funny than tragic, I called my local comic store and they put a new issue in my standing order box.

I haven't had anything happen yet. But i always inspect my sons hands before I let them touch my comics and they know better than to even think about food while reading them.

So your comic got 'blanked' on, did it.

Could not agree more, VG. I'm incredibly careful with my stuff, especially my cd collection. I've got cds from ten years ago that look brand new and I like them to stay that way. Especially something like a first print variant comic book that will cost a small fortune to replace.

Yeah but if it's still readable...

Remind me to never let you within 15 foot of my cd cabinet... ;)
