This week, “Buffy" #12. Part of the Season Eight series, this book will start the arc written by “Buffy" Season 7 and “Cloverfield" scriptwriter Drew Goddard. And Dark Horse have been recommending retailers order more copies of this, as a result of some unannounced event happening within its forty pages, directed straight from the mushy brain of Joss Whedon.

The solicitation reads, "Acclaimed television series writer, Drew Goddard (“Buffy the Vampire Slayer," “Alias," “Lost"), takes the reins on Season Eight with his four-issue arc titled ‘Wolves at the Gate.’ The gang (yep, Dawn too) travels to Tokyo where they duel vampires with unusual, yet strangely familiar, powers."

What the special event is, I don’t know, but expect publicity and expect increased demand ... but only when the book comes out. Make sure your multiple pull copies are listed on eBay before the book has shipped and Dark Horse announce a second print.

Awww, Xander and Renee are cute. I like the playful banter betwixt the two. Who woulda thunk there would literally be wolves at the gate, that's humorous. The dialogue is picking up between the characters a bit more. And was that Satsu that grabbed Willow?

Nah. She's Goth. Black nails, black veil, heavy eyeliner, goth sleeves. Satsu's kind of mod chic. Style is important to her.

My guess - vampire, or witch, or vampire witch, but definitely goth.

And yeah, cute. I've never been a heavy shipper, but I'm so becoming a Rander.

Ah, I see that now. Hmmm...well then.

Rander, I like it. I'm totally on the Rander ship. They are just too freakin' cute. I'm glad to see some romance finally blossoming in Season 8. I can't wait and #11 is not even out yet! This month to month thing is total torture.

My favorite Xander ship was Xander/Cordelia. Xanya had the potential to be one interesting ship with Anya's hate of men and Xander's hate of demons but sadly the writers wasted that opportunity. Always wished the Xanya story went out like this: Anya hooks up with Xander because he was the one who cheated on Cordelia, hoping that he'll also cheat on her, therefore she'll get her powers back. Then as time goes on she starts to have feelings for him. IMO, that won't just be more interesting, it'll also be more in character for Anya. As I said my opinion, especially that Anya had confessed to Spike that she only was using Xander in the beginning of their relationship, wish they actually showed us that.

I wish they hadn't showed these preview pages. They should've waited a little after we got issue 11. Now we won't have teasers after issue 11. :(

I'd say this is the first time Jeanty got Xander down, now he looks so much like S7 Xander, no one could argue with that far as I can see.

I'm also tired of Willow flying. But I guess it was a must because of the Willow kidnappage. Plus Willow flying her friends to places they want saves them money.

I knew you Bander people were going to dis on Rander. I like the name Rander. As I've said before I wish Xander's name was Xandier. :lmao:

Lol! She's gotta talk to Satsu about more girl stuff and Xander needs a man. I'm telling ya, the dialogue is getting so much better. Not that it wasn't good to begin with, it's just flowing better now. With every issue it's becoming more and more "real", ya know? Like, I can see the images moving and hear the conversations they are having. I mean, I know the other issues had that actor's voice vibe thingy going on, but it seems like the transition of TV to comic dialogue is going smoother now.

On the Bander issue, I still can't see it. I mean, I know I read somewhere once that SMG felt Joss intended for Buffy and Xander to wind up together, but I still just can't see it. I don't know, call me crazy. But, ya'll know me, I'm holding out for that fairytale Bangel ending. (That will probably never come to fruition, only in fanfic and youtube videos...::huh1:: ) I believe I like Rander better than Xenee, it rolls off the tongue a little easier. Rander, Rander, Rander....

I'm also holding out for the Bangel, sort of ;).. and now I'm torn because of what's going on in ATF a little.. but eh, Angel's busy over in LA.. Buffy can be with Xander :) I'm more into their possible relationship then some random new love interest.

I'm all for Rander (or Xenee) developing, it feels right to me but then i was never keen on the idea of Buffy and Xander. And Yay! Andrew's back. He looks so cute carrying his little suitcase and quoting that cornball lois lane poem from Superman: the movie. Back to counting the days untill the next one comes out...

God, I hope not. You know when Season 7 was on I kept hoping Kennedy would turn out to be a demon, but she never did. So does that mean this time I'll be crossing my fingers for Renee not to be a demon and she will be?

Seriously though, why would Joss end Xander's bad luck of only ending up with demons? It's a good in-joke by now XD

Renee's a slayer. She has the heart of the demon inside her. Xander has also had a crush on Buffy. Cordelia wasn't a demon (at that time).

And oh yeah, i forgot about Cordy, although she did eventually become a demon.

The point is Xander could have a fling with a slayer, and still have his demon-related relationship streak complete, if you stretch the rules a bit. In fact you have to stretch the rules a bit to call it a streak.

Xander's mentioning needing a guy in #11 preview from here reminds me of his comment, "I wish Oz was here. He wouldn't laugh. But he'd get it." ;) Well, here's hoping that Xander - if we're to continue the Nick Fury comparison - gets his own Dum Dum Dugan soon whether it be Andrew or no. :D As always, all the Season Eight stuff looks very promising. Is it too much to hope that Faith and Giles might catch up to the others in the next multi-part story?

Well yeah as the insider at least, that's why people keep suggesting her as a possible candidate. I'm saying, I hope not, myself, and I'm not sure the demon part really matters one way, or the other. That's not to say she couldn't be one. I'm just saying I don't see where it matters.

Actually it depends on how technical you want to get. Heart definitely. Soul probably. Maybe they're both part of the same thing.

The part people sometimes like to nitpick about is the part that follows where they talk about "creating the slayer" with this item, or items of demon energy, spirit, heart. So is the demon energy, spirit, heart still in the slayer, or was that a one time First Slayer thing is a nit people sometimes like to pick.

Preview is looking good. I can't wait. Andrew on the team. Xenee action. And who nabbed Willow. It does look a little bit like Satsu, although her style is different.

Oh, OK, I see where you guys are going then. So you're thinking maybe this is Satsu's inside man, traitor, alter-ego, persona, or something like that, right?

I don't know about others accusing Satsu, but I truthfully don't know where I'm going with it. It's just that the similarities between Satsu and the kidnapper made me realise that she could be the Inside Man/Betrayer too. Her little crush-on-Buffy-storyline is cute, but I don't really see the point yet. I think it has to serve some higher purpose.

I think the notion of Satsu having some kind of evil alter-ego or long lost twin, would be sort of cheesy, but on the other hand, maybe they could put a nice new spin on it.

Geroges Jeanty told me this weekend that things would get very bad for Buffy and everything around her, so an inside 'man' who's actaully a Slayer would be very bad indeed. not saying it's Satsu, just saying.
